19th May 2009 - Missing my Mummy
Looks good. Also someone said it's second in the Mysteries of the Majharrat quest line. It isn't you are getting confused. Mysteries of the Majharrat isn't a singular quest line it's more of an epic back/present/future story. It is a spiders web, made up of singular strands all making one big story. SPOILERS BELOW Mysteries of the Majharrat focuses on the movement to the North of the Majharrat to fight it out to become reborn. It looks as though the main story is driven by Lucien's rise to power but other questlines mention this which have nothing do do with Lucien, other than maybe a passing reference. These include Defender of Varrock, Hazeel Cult, Tales of the Muspah, Desert Treasure and a good few more. Needless to say Jagex are building up the whole Majarrat storyline into something big.

Hurrah for common sense!

Has anybody actually done the maths for this? Screw it, I'll do it now. Slayer helm+fury is better. by about +5 in both slash and strength. right but salve(e) beats slay helm+fury... No it doesn't. The salve ammy (e) beats the slayer helm but the 5% less boost is more than made up for with the bonuses of the fury. If you wear the salve (e) and the slayer helm, you may as well just bring a nosepeg as the salve (e) cancels out the black masks boost.

Tip.It Times: 17 May 2009
The PvP thing is annoying but the article is nothing more than rant. We can all spout off at how PvP has ruined the economy. Hell I'm peeved that the best way to train most non-combat skills now involve PvP. For example agility sucks, I can get 42k an hour thats it. However with the brawlers, it becomes so much easier. However Jagex made them untradeable?!? Why? At least let the PvP'rs give something back to the skilling community. Also the KS article was a joke. Are you mods sure it was a guest article? Surely "fictional article" would have served better. Anyway it's just another rant, and the point is moot as it's obviously one big lie. How this passed quality control I do not know. Person responsible should apply for a job at Jagex

Total herbs per run
One: How many herbs on average does 1 farming run produce? 5 x 7 = 35 Two: How many runs a day are possible if I am on for 2-5 hours a day? 1 hour 15 mins per run. I'd give it 1 hour 30 mins to be safe. Three: How many herbs would I expect on the end of my running time? 35 x however many runs you do. I do use supercompost! Always Truth is herb farming is random. I've had runs of 45-50 herbs but others only 20. Make sure you use magic secateurs though.

Only use salve amulet if you don't have slayer helm. They do not stack and the helm/fury is a better.

Waterbirth Island - Music
I only needed 4 songs for 100% songs unlocked. The sticking point was "Victory Is Mine" which is only unlocked after a fight with a champion which requires an uber rare champions scroll. What was the point in unlocking the other 3 in Waterbirth when I couldn't unlock them all? Well today I got one from a skeleton so decided to go to Waterbirth. I died is all I can say. No big loss, I went pretty much naked cept for cheaper pray gear and about 5 prayer points. I think I know what I did wrong, not bring food! However even if I had had food the whole dungeon is confusing as hell. I think I have worked it out for a 2nd attempt but wondered if anyone had any solid advice for someone just wishing to go in and unlock 2 songs (managed to get 1) There seems to be very little literature on where the songs unlock: Daganoth Dawn unlocks near kings entrance of sub level 5 Xenophobe in one deep room on sub level 4 Daganoth Dawn seems easy to find on the map, just do a route to kings, but the other one I am having trouble locating. For my next attempt I plan to follow the route on Zybez. Again literature is pretty thin on the ground. The Runescape Wiki's guide is too minimal and then too confusing and Tip It only seems to have a map, no instructions. Any advice appreciated.

Cost for 88 summoning
I made a spreadsheet to work out the best but the issue is the GE price changing all the time. You have to manually enter the GE pouch price each time: http://www.geocities.com/foxy_stoat/shards.zip If you want to have a play. All the shard per pouch detail is there at least. I also stupidly saved it after I'd sorted it to best value pouch and didn't put a "trading level required" column in. Therefore they are all jumbled up :( Make sure you don't buy pouches you can't trade. The margin for error gets less as you rise levels but at early levels it is easy to assume that as you can make pouches you can trade them too. This isn't the case! You can use: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Summoning_pouches For reasonably up to date GE prices all in one place but I found the figures to be a little off.

Lots 'O Questions!
1~Is it worth it to buy a dragon halberd? They are currently just under 200k. In a word. No. It has uses against large "boss" monsters but I doubt you'll be doing them. 2~Recommend levels to try for a fire cape? TBH it's overated. Obby Cape will do you fine until you get a trimmed skill cape. 3~Best way to train summoning to level 57? (Not a ton of cash, and lvl 42 now) Slayer. Save the charms. Use TipIt's summoning planner to plan a route using your charms. Buy pouches from GE and trade for shards (make sure you have the level to trade them). You will need some mathematics to work out best ones. get your own seconds if cost is that much of an issue. 57 summoning is pretty cheap. 4~At 51 Slayer, which slayer master should I use? Sumona if you can. If not the fairy. 5~What is the fastest way to get watermelon seeds if I don't want to buy? (I presume watermelons are what I should be using at level 50 farming.) No fast way, only plant if you have them. Trees and fruit trees are the best XP. Do herbs and allotments but plant strawberries. Baskets of apples are also cheap.

GWD Team
Few questions: 1. What is the best way to get a GWD team? 2. Despite my maxed melee I have never really been to GWD (Bandos twice and Zammy once, both on rubbish teams) so lack experience. I am a quick learner though, just need people who are willing to teach me. Is this going to be easy to find? 3. Is a God Sword necessary? I was going to spend out on a BGS but got the charms for 90 summoning just before 99 defence and couldn't resist getting those levels. Now I only have 14mil so not enough for a BGS. Also I don't want to buy a BGS if GWD isn't for me (doubtful, but until your try you never know). I am willing to buy Torags/Veracs or whatever and obviously have whip/defender. 4. Bandos or Zammy? Looking for fast cash more than anything, want 99 magic, summoning and pray so it isn't going to be cheap. I know Bandos is rammed but is this an issue with teams, once you find a world? 5. Are my stats good enough to do Arma? Not a big fan of range but I hear Arma is best cash. I would assume my 99 def and 85 prayer would be helpful but is my lowly range level enough? NB: Sara is out of the question, I lag sometimes so am not prepared to risk it.

DFS - How much it actually helps?
DFS is only really good at dragons. Defender is better elsewhere. Even at Black Demons, I'd rather pay for prayer pots than the DFS. By the time you've bought prayer pots for the cost of the DFS it equals a hell of a lot prayer pots.

Help for quests. Should you use them?
Seriously you don't need a quest guide for most parts. GAME WISE NPC says "go speak to NPC 2 in Draynor and ask him for his magic seeds" GUIDES SAYS After speaking to NPC, go to Draynor and ask NPC 2 for some seeds. Kinda obvious what you have to do without the need for the guide.

Cost for 88 summoning
I got 86-90 with 4 kyatts. The 4th one still had 20 mins on when I dismissed him. They are 50 mins each I think.
-
Cost for 88 summoning
I did 86-90 for about 14mil. Trading pouches for shards and buying seconds.

Nechryaels, the 80 Slayer monster, deserve better Drops
Nechs drops are OK. They cost very little to fight and you make cash on the boots and seeds. I do agree that modern slayers need a money boost though. When I started whips were 3.3mil and that was a huge incentive to get 85 slayer. Once I hit it whips were 1.5mil as people farmed them. My main suggestion is to make certain drops slayer specific. I.e. they only drop if you are on task. This has the advantage of freeing up popular monsters and hopefully boosting the price of the items so slayers get there reward. It isn't going to be hard to give each slayer monster a certain drop. Starting from the low monsters to the high ones you could build up a collection of "slayer armour" things which give a boost to the slayer XP you get, or let you hit harder (like the slayer helm). Make them tradeable so people can buy the whole set and voila, profit from slayer again. Also Jagex have mentioned higher combat only worlds. They also need a couple of slayer only worlds. Sometimes trying to get a spot at Hellhounds/Abby Demons/Greaters is a nightmare. Or make a 2nd level of the Chaos Tunnels with some other monsters in.

Fletching, firemaking and cooking - Skillcapes of dirt?
Shark stops burning at 94 with cooking gauntlets. If you have 99 cooking why would you want cooking gauntlets? Personally I have them as goldsmith ones and use the capes +1 boost to cook the minimal shark I cook.

Help for quests. Should you use them?
My problem is usually I am at work when a quest is released. By the time I get home and do it the quest is usually completed by someone else so the rewards and an overview of the major parts are out there. I usually "follow" the work in progress guide on the Runescape Wiki although only really to get a list of items and possible fight details. Nothing worse than taking on a big boss monster unprepared. Did that with the King Ice Troll and died, and if I'd read the guide I'd have known not to pray whatever it was I prayed. I was off when Chosen Commander was released and did that without a guide. I was probably one of the first to complete it. That said it was a stupidly easy quest.

Fletching, firemaking and cooking - Skillcapes of dirt?
99 Fletching can be used to raise money. I personally used it to fund all my decent gear. For this reason it isn't nooby to get. What's nooby about making money and skilling? 99 Firemaking is a chore, a long and hard grind doing one of the most boring things ever. It requires dedication as you are getting nothing out of it. It's pointless XP. For that reason it isn't nooby. 99 Cooking is also a very good way to earn cash. Sure you can buy it, but you can also use MTK and farming to net a nice profit with a little extra work with potatoes. Out of the 3 this is probably the most nooby, but it has benefits (not burning shark with cape) all the way to 99. People really shouldn't judge.

Name this item please!
I doubt people PK in it seeing as it's a pain in the bottom to get back.
-
PK'ing
I fail at it. I shouldn't really seeing how I have a high mage and maxed melee but I do. Anyone got any guides, or tips to make myself a good PK'r? I need some steady cash and ideally some agility brawlers.

Ourg Bones? Are you KIDDING?
On topic is this really that bad? First of all it's only 15k per bone and to get said bone you have have the drop and have room in your inventory. The average solo trip is going to yield 5 maybe 6 bones? That's 90k. However it's only 90k if you can sell them. People are going to have to be very dumb to buy Ourg Bones en-mass as 2 x dragons bones is better XP for a cheaper price. Prayer is expensive, even for high levelled players, and most players would rather do it via dragon bones than waste all that cash on ourgs. When ourgs do become practical for prayer training you are looking at 5-6k tops per bone which is even less of a big deal, considering the hassle of getting them still. Bandos will be packed for a few days/weeks until people realise that this actually changes very little and then they will tootle off and do BH or TD's or DK's again. The prices of ourg bones should fall, but I doubt it will be much as the influx of bones is still going to be pretty low. Dragon bones won't change as these will remain the xp of choice for the masses.

You slay Dark Beasts and bury bones? Wow.
