  1. Right click an empty spot on your taskbar > Toolbars > untick media player.
  2. There's even a big picture that goes with the comment on the LEDs too. How did I miss that? :wall: Anyways, it looks like that case comes with a front panel, so you might be able to place it over it so you won't see the lights. But don't quote me on that. Manufacturers like to overestimate the requirements for compents so they cover themselves if someone's computer blows. Power supplies aren't all about wattage. What's more important is the amount of amps that run along the psu's 12v rails, which supply power to specific components. The Eathwatt one was 34A, whereas a 9800gtx requires a minimum of 27A so it's in the all clear. Both 4850 and 70 cards have around the same requirement too. Just a thought as well, is there any particular need for a quad core? If you're not doing any encoding or multi thread dependent tasks I would go for a dual core, since they are clocked higher and would be faster in games.
  3. Cases are really a personal preference. Just choose one that looks good, and make sure that it is at least a mid sized tower. Yes, that case fits all your components. Any mid sized tower will. I'd go with previous suggestions in getting a HD48xx card instead. In Aus, price for a 4850 ranges from $220-250, but the 4870 is a little overpriced at the moment because of just being released and little availability of GDDR5 memory. Basically the main differences between P35 and P45 chipsets is the higher fsb support (for overclocking) and more bandwidth for crossfired cards. If you don't need either, just go with the one you have already. As well, P45 chipsets feature PCIe 2.0 slots, which means video cards can run faster on them. But most modern day ones don't even utilize the current PCIe slot speeds (1.1) fully, so it's more of a marketing gimmick for now. No, you don't need to do that, the one you already chose is enough. I'm sorry, but where exactly does it say that? I can't seem to find that... In any case, if the computer is turned off, there is no electircity to power lights. Personally I use http://www.staticice.com.au to find cheapest price on comp parts here.
  4. Well, first of all what you need is all in that list except you don't need a floppy drive, sound or network card (as sound and ethernet are onboard capabilities of a motherboard). Also, unless overclocking the stock cooler that comes with a cpu will be fine. Basically, the only compatibility issues you will have is choosing the right motherboard to fit the right cpu. For example, AMD cpus use Socket 939, while Intel uses 775. Just google some pc building guides, or if you're a more visual person youtube them. Most motherboard manuals come with instructions on where to place verything anyway. If you need help on choosing actual parts, could you give your location, and I'll try to find some decent shops.
  5. 0x0000008E are usually hardware errors, although they are known to be driver issues as well. Download Driver Cleaner from here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/deskt ... er_pro.cfm and use it to uninstall every graphics driver, then install them again. If you still get bsoded, then download memtest and run it for a few hours. If you get errors, then you have corrupted ram chips.
  6. According to Antec's website, that case comes with a Earthwatts psu. From all account they are fairly reliable power supplies. All cpus come with stock coolers. Unless you plan to overclock, just use that one. You want a Socket 775 motherboard. Basically a motherboard doesn't effect performance too much (unless overclocking). Other than that, it is mainly certain features that make more expensive motherboards, such as firewire, more usb ports, multiple pcie slots, etc. If you don't need anything fancy like that, I'd recommend an ep35-ds3, although the site your ordering from doesn't seem to stock them. Overclockers Uk stocks them, if you can order: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... =MB-133-GI. Dunno why it;s listed as a DDr3 Motherboard, cause it's not compatible with DDR3 ram, so just ignor ethat part. Again, unless your overclocking, high speed ram isn't really needed. http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=632574 is all that looks good from your site (Corsair are reliable), but if you can order from another site then you could probably find cheaper ram that would suit you. Just try and look for some 800mhz ram, since it's so cheap nowadays. Yes, if you are going to have 4gb of ram, then you would need 64-bit version so that the comp can utilize all of it, and unless you want some fancy features that Ulimate offers, I'd go with Home Premium. Other than that, looks all good. Building a pc might look a little daunting at first, but it's really quite easy (motherboard comes with instructions too) and it's a real good feeling when you boot it up and it actually works :D
  7. What is it you are going to be using this specifically for? Work? Light gaming? Also, do you have any preference on screen size? In any case, have a look at some Dell laptops, since you can customize them on the website for your needs.
  8. More important than the wattage of a psu is the amount of amps on the +12v rails. If your psu is just a generic one, then it probably is a good idea to upgrade because they usually don't give out the amount of wattage they're assigned to (e.g. your 400W could maybe pull 300W on load). I'd recommend a Corsair VX-450, which would run a 9600gt fine.
  9. I'm going to pre-order it from EB tomorrow (since it's released in Australia 11th October), as it includes a free case as a bonus, although it's most likely for lite only and not old phatty.
  10. Please people, try not to get jealous.
  11. Have you tried using anymore of the specs? Is the damage consistent, or does it deal less the less charges it has?
  12. I've restarted my blog, because I'm lacking that little thing called motivation. :boohoo: While I find it I'll post on here to keep myself from being bored.
  13. Red, Blue, Yellow : It takes a lot for a sequel to beat a prequel.
  14. The ability to heal others. Or speak to animals, then I'd know what Skippy was really saying.
  15. Might sound silly, but generally I am too shy to strike up a conversation with anyone near me. What friends I had on Runescape were real life friends, but many of them are long gone.
  16. Apparently the makeover did sway the vote, but don't forget that many of the population can't/won't go to a lot of the places listed. Don't be mean. To the pretzels, that is.
  17. My total level is approximately 11 times higher than my post count.
  18. The concept art is good, but I prefer how they give an account of how much effort goes into making an update. It might quieten down those who expect an update every week, although that is hoping for alot.
  19. Sorry, I thought you meant actually using the stylus on the touch screen. I'm not sure if it fits in either slots. As for the strategy guides, it doesn't show anything beyond basic concepts. It's more of a walkthrough with what happens from Point A to Point B, what trainers you will meet along the way, what pokemon are in that region etc.
  20. I just wanted the stylus for collector's sake. Most 'official' guides are just walkthroughs, and who really needs a guide for pokemon? I guess there are the pretty pictures to look at... They would work with both I imagine. Why would it work with one touch screen and not the other?
  21. I pre-ordered Diamond, but instead of a stylus I get a strategy guide
  22. The heart is usually right, why not this time? :boohoo: I would have forked over some cash for a new comp for Diablo 3, but Starcraft doesn't warrant so much consideration.
  23. Who could resist the allure of free party hats, but if being a J Mod meant being able to beta test updates then J Mod for sure.
