  1. People don't fish sharks like they used to. Rocktails are the new hotness.
  2. I somewhat enjoy the diversion, even if Jagex got the taxonomy wrong. And I am optimistic that 2.0 will be better. But I'm not going to be renting any items. My main motivation is for the bump to my total level.
  3. I have never owned a barrows item (outside of merching them). I have never worn or utilized any barrows item. My concession to the rent-to-never-own mentality was a few crystal bows back in the day. But I dispensed with them quite a while ago. I would also smugly note that neither of these degrading items are the pinnacle rewards of a "skill." ;)
  4. ...And 20 brand new items that are usable in the rest of runescape. ... at a recurring cost. It's like rent-to-own, except you are never owning and always renting.
  5. Thank the gods for fansite forums.
  6. Oh, I don't know. Having a parking place for pet familiars is a nice perk, and it maxes out way past gildeds. Dung is the best diversion in the game, and I get some degree of enjoyment out of it. However, placing Dung as a skill is a poor idea. They could have put it on the bottom section of the hiscores page & still promoted Runescape: Dungeons of Dæmonheim just as effectively. The developers went to such great lengths to separate everything from the main game - completely new items are created that cannot leave the dungeon, nor can old items be taken in. It's like Runescape in a petri dish. The only thing you can take out is your XP in the real skills, and even that is nerfed when expedient. And we are supposed to accept this as a skill on par with what we have already? Dung will always be a "skill" in my book - with all the skepticism that the quotation marks imply.
  7. Skill area icons on the minimap would be a very, very welcome change. Amen, brother. I keep playing the Glacialis levels for precisely that reason - the resources really stand out from all the blue background. They tend to blend in too much with those muted earth tones in the later levels.
  8. The high scores are FUBAR right now. For the past 12 hours, it's been underreporting mine. Called the page up in multiple browsers, and it has my total level at 2298 when it's been 2299 in game since yesterday (34 Dung).
  9. One thing I am sorely missing in this "skill" is a crossbow. It's quite odd that one is offered as a reward, but if you want to dung with one you are S.O.L.
  10. One other thing they could do is hand down 99 capes to the free players and make the 120s for members only.
  11. Consider xp to be one reward currency & tokens to be another. It shouldn't be that hard to have TOG, lamps, et. al. pay in both currencies for the new "skill." I. e., "Congratulations! You have received 880 xp & 9 tokens from rubbing the lamp!" or 35000 xp & 3500 tokens from Penguin points, etc. Shouldn't be that hard to do when the time comes around. Not that I have any inside info; just throwing it out there.
  12. If you find yourself with a large cash pile at the end, you could just buy raw fish from the Smuggler, start a fire, cook & sell back - same as people were doing with rune essence / runes.
  13. Might or not be prometheum, but it's definitely a design from the new mini-skill with those big horns on the shield.
  14. Sort of makes me glad I had to stay out of the game today (to do my Uncle Sam's paperwork). It's disgusting the lengths they are going to in order to put Dungeoneering in its own self-contained pocket.
  15. There are higher level pickaxes than the ones the Smuggler stocks, though I also question the wisdom in binding one.
  16. The last 10 items in the iTunes Hump Day shuffle: Paul Westerberg - Love Untold Mariah Carey - Heartbreaker (album version) (feat. Jay-Z) Van Halen - Dancing in the Streets Bruce Hornsby & The Range - The River Runs Low John Williams / London Symphony Orchestra - Duel of the Fates INXS - Elegantly Wasted The Beatles - Tomorrow Never Knows Elvis Costello - My Little Blue Window The Archies - Senorita Rita Sting - Consider Me Gone
  17. I had an alter in one of my dungeons. This is still good advice though. I will confirm the occasional prayer altars. However, they look nothing like any prayer altars you have seen before and it's easy to miss them.
  18. Full prometheum, w/ battleaxe. The platebody is my bound piece. What a shame to lose this and start over... again & again & again.
  19. It's a nice minigame/activity but full-fledged skill? Come on. This is basically Temple Trekking with dungeon walls.
  20. As I solo, I find myself going back and forth to the Smuggler with stuff and selling it so I can buy ores to make a weapon and/or shield. The only pot I've made was one of those cures so I could kill a frost dragon. I sell the hides, runes, charms & farming stuff for cash to buy high level ores. Oh, and Jagex finally got it right & put a forge & anvil in the same room with an ore shop. That alone is worth noting about this new mini-skill, if nothing else is.
  21. Jagex obviously plans on people playing this well past true skill mastery - you don't even get to bind your 4th item until level 120. Once I got a prometheum chainbody bound, things got a lot easier. I can only imagine once I got a decent weapon bound, instead of having to make one from scratch every time.
  22. I could easily see them doing it & implementing tiered capes. It's like when you get your college degree. You have your base colors for your Bachelors field; but when you get your Masters or Doctorate there are more geegaws & bric-a-brac on the cape. I could see Jagex doing that with all the capes. Not that I am advocating it - I could just see them take this approach.
  23. You shouldn't underestimate the simplicity of a lot of people. A lot of people WERE judging summoning on the first few days it came out with people only using the first 40 lvls or so. The same is happening here. Just don't take them too seriously and get a good level yourself, then judge it. Um... you should also remember that Summoning received a major retooling before it became the skill we all use now. Summoning 1.0 was not really all that, and it did suck royally in its first incarnation.
  24. Looks like Hangul (한글) script on the door to me. Is it just jibberish, or do those characters actually say something?
  25. It's like they put the game in a bottle inside of itself... renaming every ore, wood, herb, food, etc. The learning curve on what to keep and what to drop is a [bleep] and slows things down considerably. And some wiseass at Planet Jagex named a lot of the tunes "Glacialis" HA FREAKING HA The armors & weaponry look good, I will have to admit. Thumbs up on that. But the concept - eh, I'm not smitten, either in solo or group mode. YMMV.
