  1. Since I will be doing this on the cheap, I'm thinking agility or monkfishing (the two things I hate most). I'd do summoning - I have a pantsload of charms - but I expect secondaries to go through the roof in the next few weeks, and I am caught flatfooted.
  2. The last 10 songs in the Hump Day iTunes shuffle: Suzanne Vega - Gypsy Paul McCartney - Take It Away XTC - Across This Antheap The Beatles - You Know My Name (Look Up The Number) Pianosaurus - Thriftshoppin' The Beatles - Real Love The Clash - London Calling The Triffids - A Trick Of The Light The Grateful Dead - Touch Of Grey Ciara - Love Sex Magic
  3. Who bashed the guide? Please pay attention and tend to your own orifice. Dial-up internet & YouTube just don't mix. The content of the guide is immaterial at this point.
  4. Yes, of course. People with dialup connections just love browsing through streaming YouTube videos. :wall: :wall: :wall:
  5. Sorry, but you are dead wrong. Skill milestones should not have minigames as a prerequisite. GWD & corp beast (neither of which I can do on dial-up, BTW) have rewards I can never dream of. Never complained, never will. But if you prefer to engage in a straw man's fallacy, by all means go ahead. ;)
  6. Fight Caves should have its own rewards, separate and apart from the main content of the game. Same for all the other minigames. It just smacks of Jagex trying to generate artificial interest in these areas of the game. If Jagex wants to tack Jad 2.0 onto the end of FC and bump up the rewards, that's great. I salute you all. Even you freaks who find ways to kill it with chickens & frying pans. But let's keep the split-second & lag-free requirements off to the side. Twitching should be voluntary, not mainline. And contrary to the longwinded post by the thread originator, it's not about money for me. I don't have the "gold rush" mentality that the rest of you do, nor do I particularly need the coinage. Trust me on that one. I have grumbled to myself about Nomad, because he's another part of the game I won't be doing. But again, it's not about money. I feel like Jean-Luc Picard in "First Contact": They invade our space, and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds, and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far and no further! Nomad left me uneasy, but I gritted my teeth and resigned myself to it. The Fire Cape requirement set off the alarm bells.
  7. I know some of you like these minigames, but they do not do anything for me. Fight Caves, Impetuous Impulses, Soul Wars, Castle Wars, FoG... they all reek equally. But I understand they appeal to some of you, and that's OK. Just keep them to the side, out of the way and all will be fine.
  8. Serephurus, I notice in your quotation a mention of 70 amino acids. But in the link you posted, there is no mention of amino acids whatsoever. It says: Perhaps the story has had a correction?
  9. Search the bestiary for the phrase "noted)" and you get this long list.
  10. The GE, with its crude technical graphs, certainly made it a lot easier to make intelligent day trading decisions in Runescape. Now, instead of looking at player-based (and manipulated) lists of item values, I can just look for a cyclical item whose price has fallen under its moving average.
  11. I agree with a lot of this. Before the strykewyrms, no one was clamoring for firecape accessibility. The people with narrowband access & other issues had pretty much resigned themselves to being shut out of that part of the game. It was a sidelight - an optional minigame for those who had the resources & abilities to pursue it. It became somewhat of a joke over time as people competed to be the lowest level with a fire cape, or the fastest to finish it, or the first to do it with a chicken or while wearing a red partyhat or {insert your own ridiculous self-imposed limitation here}. FWIW, I never heard of anyone trying to be the first to complete it at 28.8k or 14.4k .... you get my point. It was when Jagex repurposed this optional minigame as mainline skill content that the friction started. They set the once-optional minigame squarely in the middle of the skill pathways. Those of us who were able to play the minigame were already playing it - those of us who weren't had already written it off and didn't want it foisted upon ourselves.
  12. There are no Internet café's within 40 miles of where I live. The nearest public library with Internet access is 25 miles. I am uncertain of their policy of gaming on the taxpayer dollar, but I wouldn't ask anyway. That sort of access is for educational purposes, not gaming. Not to mention whether they have Java installed or their systems have appropriate video cards for gaming. My actual hometown library is a mile away, but it's open 3 days a week for 2 hours each day. It's staffed by volunteers and serviced by a traveling bookmobile. I'm sure it's flipping great that you have high-speed connection opportunities falling out your [wagon], but it's just not that way everywhere. Not everyone lives in an urban setting. Just because you can walk to an internet café from your house or use a friends connection on the way home from school... doesn't mean everyone else has that sort of opportunity. The people who keep making those relocation suggestions are blithely oblivious to the realities of life in rural settings.
  13. YEAH And add a service fee of 50 nail beast charms per strykewyrm assignment to boot.
  14. You got that right. Since both sides of the argument want total victory, any compromise will only piss off both sides.
  15. The dragon baxe has crush capabilities for the budget-minded amongst us. It's what I use on waterfiends.
  16. The last 10 songs in the Day After Humpday iTunes shuffle: The Reputation - Face It The Archies - Hold On To Lovin' Big Country - In A Big Country Tears For Fears - Head Over Heels / Broken (live) Love And Theft - Don't Wake Me Electric Light Orchestra - Waterfall Joe Perry - We've Got A Long Way To Go Molly Jenson - Give It Time The Cranberries - Linger Rod Stewart - Hot Legs
  17. Got any recommendation for a grimy herb that is relatively easy to buy and relatively easy to sell clean? I don't want to buya grimy herb and see it crash - losing me more money than I would if I just made potions. Just start with the highest herb you can clean. Check the GE & buy a few thousand if the cleans are higher that grimies. Market conditions change from day to day. IOW, don't go buying hundreds of thousands of any 1 type of grimy herbs in 1 batch.
  18. I bought grimy herbs, cleaned them, then sold back for a profit. It makes herblore profitable, but it's also very time consuming. If you are the type who likes to loiter around the GE, it can be a good method. You should grow as many of your herbs as you can. It's a method of wealth accumulation that can run in the background while you do other things. Even if you just make one run a day, you've saved yourself a little money.
  19. Just to put a bow & a ribbon on this: The dongle finally arrived in the mail today. XP had no trouble at all auto-installing the device & finding my cell phone. Everything is better with Bluetooth.
  20. Definitely a bunyip (or other healer) and an antipoison. I wore dragonhides to protect from their purple spew (since I prefer to range at present). By all means, bring your knives & darts.
  21. More chores? What a bore. The game is more fun when you step off the treadmill and just freestyle it.
  22. I addressed this a few days ago.
  23. Please post back and let us all know what he's going to be flooding the market with. <_<
  24. I completely agree with this. People ask for "elite" content, and when it comes out, they can't take advantage of it, and they whine to get it so they can. Can't use elite content? Guess you aren't elite enough. The fallacy here is believing that the same people who asked for "elite" content are the same people now complaining. That's if you view a fire cape as "elite" - many posts claim its not elite at all - it's easy, as all you have to do is switch prayers. "Elite" or not: I guess it depends on what pseudo arguments are being made at the time. In reality, this is boiling down to whose daddy can buy them the best Internet connection. If Jagex had made the SoL an added reward for Fight Caves only, no one would be complaining. It's the repurposing of old stand alone minigames as new skill content that is so annoying.
