20-Aug-2013 - Divination
That's because this is not a matter of Jagex being lazy, it's a calculated and conscious effort on their part to not allow it. I am in an elite clan, and there are usually J-Mods that drop in once a while. Top players get quite a few perks. One of the current things is that they have been asking J-Mods to open up old user-names for them, so they can have them -- and guess what? Dozens of people have had J-Mods grant their wishes. So don't kid yourself, if they wanted it done, they'd do it. ------- I for one didn't get any BoL lamps, and I could care less if some other people did hoard a few and want to use them -- that's not a disadvantage to me if they can use it.

Was a excuse given about it being a lot of work? I'll say it again , they dont want people to be able to dump 50+ lamps onto div from bol! Nope, no excuses. Not a word.

Not as disappointing as the fact that it's been a whole month and they still haven't given us a date for when it will happen, for what is essentially a 5 minute change.

It's a fake, apparently.

Finally. It (image) was in HLF forum, but apparently it's fake.

Actually, they have already implied at a rather reasonable date for when we can use Divination experience: when we're all dead.

I am all for this idea as long as that source isn't Vorago, or if it is, then it is only after Vorago has been nerfed. If they didn't nerf him somehow, then all T90 would be ridiculously rare and difficult and expensive to get, that'd be worse than what we have now and the wrong sort of balance.

Future Update Discussions
The most discouraging thing is that it has been 2 months or whatever since Vorago was released, and the players have voiced their concerns repeatedly through various mediums, and there's a clear pattern that's emerged: Vorago ain't worth it, so barely a few people are doing it. And yet, there hasn't been any effort (aside from simply changing the rotations) to address any of this. And the CS system is ridiculous too. Most items are worth way more than their GE price upon release; Jagex has promised us in the past that they would manually adjust prices in special cases, and it's been years... They need to go and actually do something: make the boss easier/fix the drop rate, and fix the GE price.

ftfyas far as I'm aware this is actually the case :P Great, then. I have always had an especially special dislike for Mod Timbo ever since his extremely flippant answer last year about gambling. Just one more reason for me to dislike him.

I think he has generally good overarching concepts. and seems to put a lot of work into them, but his balancing of the rewards is awful, and he seems slow in fixing that (ironic given he is one of the few J-Mods that actually listens to feedback). I still like him tremendously, though.

I had more in mind the early Nex (one of the best updates ever), rather than the current Nex which is a little more than a sad joke that even soloers can do with ease. ----- @Sara_Mage, Yes, I do think it will be released without any quest requirements. There are no quests on the horizon (aside from the GM in 2014 which is indefinite and probably likely to be delayed) that would merit being a requirement to a spiffy new boss.

It seem's pretty logical though. Sliske tried to take the player to be a wight before, and any update to Barrows would directly be tied to Sliske (it is his stuff after all). ROTM was a GM quest and Glacors aren't the most difficult things in the world. That's all fine and true, but the Sliske quest is a Master Quest, not a GM quest. That doesn't mean that it can't give us a new boss, but usually this sort of stuff is saved for the big stories (i.e., GM).

Well I did mention that Vorago needed to be fixed. Still, the mechanics are obviously impressive and a lot of work went into it. Also, he designed Nex.

I don't think it's a wise idea to release a new boss until they fix Vorago. Obviously designing these sorts of bosses takes quite a bit of effort and time, and indeed Chris L is quite good at this stuff, so let's get the most out of Vorago before moving on. Also, I don't think the Barrows deluxe will be a reward for the Sliske quest; the quest is only supposed to be a Master quest at most, that'd be far too generous a reward for it, although a welcome one.

Daemonheim Task Set- 10/9/13
Too bad Hex sucks now. It was decent post-EoC and it was promised that it would get buffed up, but it has since then been nerfed, it seems.

Daemonheim Task Set- 10/9/13
@Platinum_Myr No one is talking about every element. We are talking about an element of a game that has a long precedent of giving a useful reward to a skill of the player's choice. And making rewards but giving strong incentives not to claim them despite meeting the requirements to claim them until much later is certainly a soft punishment from where I am standing. False. The Mortanyia task set had several requirements in the 90's, and some in the med-high 80's, and the highest lamp requirement was 80. The Fremennik task set had several requirements that were 90+, and yet the highest lamp requirement was 89. The Ardougne diary had a few requirements of 90+, and yet all the four 50K lamps (the highest lamps) had a requirement of 85. So no. This is not how they have "always" been done. Furthermore, this is not about squeezing benefit out of everything, this is about getting benefit out things which have had a history of giving benefits. It's not a matter of playing styles. It's a matter of expectations which have been reasonably cultivated. And yes, we will suck it up, but that doesn't mean this wasn't a stupid thing to do. Just like it was stupid of them to release a Diary last week, but strongly incentivize top players to not collect the rewards until the next week. Releasing a much ballyhooed and anticipated update, but making it so smart players will choose to abstain is not a smart choice.

Not without precedent, either. They tried that kind of system last year with EoC. It... wasn't well received. Damned if you do... They rarely take off-weeks to do anything useful, like fixing glitches, or doing minor reworks on old stuff, or asking for feedback to fix things like EoC, so I am a bit opposed to them too.

Super September is Coming!
Yup, it was always about the spins. Make the training process as slow and tedious as possible so we will come begging for the spins. Sneaky indeed.

Daemonheim Task Set- 10/9/13
So Jagex is stupid for putting a kinda reasonable 98 req lamp in for a task set devoted to a skill that runs to 120 and requires at least 1 lvl 98 because of the choice YOU personally have made to limit your play style and await the turning on of bonuses for div? As has been already pointed out, the lamp rewards are supposed to be for a skill of your choice, not a particular skill of their choice. If they wanted for it to be used on Dungeoneering, then they should have made it an exclusively Dungeoneering lamp. Also, this is a Daemonheim task set, not a Dungeoneering task set. It has to do with a particular area and location, and there are other skills involved aside from Dungeoneering. In any case, I will just bite the bullet and use it on something else (and use the level 90 lamps on Divination), so I can claim the rewards. Still stupid though, I shouldn't have to do this.
-
Daemonheim Task Set- 10/9/13
This is the sort of stupid incentives that are brought up. I would like to do Hard mode, and some Dungeoneering with the neat new aura, but I can't do that because Jagex keeps giving incentives for me to hold off on claiming the rewards.
-
Daemonheim Task Set- 10/9/13
Well, I am sure you could destroy it or something. You probably can't reclaim it if it is destroyed, but I am not sure on that. 98 crafting is one of the diary's requirements, though it is possible to boost for it. I don't think that's really the problem. It's fairly plausible to say that the vast majority of people who completed this diary will have at least (typically more) one skill that has 98 or more. The point is though that we would have liked to use it on a skill that we aren't already maxed in (i.e., Divination).
-
Daemonheim Task Set- 10/9/13
Well, if they had wanted to do that, then they should have made it an exclusively Dungeoneering lamp. Also, this is not how Diaries typically work. Usually, it's supposed to be an experience reward of around 40K-50k (at the higher end) in a skill of your choice. And it usually has requirements of around the 80 mark.

Daemonheim Task Set- 10/9/13
So apparently one of the lamps (the 60K one) requires level 98 for it to be used. More nonsense meant clearly to troll Divination people. They really are determined to drag this out as long as possible and make it as torturous as possible. No other diary has had such a ridiculous requirement for its rewards to be claimed. Completely ridiculous.
