  1. I finished the task set the other day. Now we have to wait for Monday (hopefully they don't push it to Tuesday).
  2. I agree with Quyneax: EoC was a fine idea in principle, but Jagex clearly does not have the determination and wherewithal to really realize it in any satisfactory sense. As for the evidence, in addition to a correlation between EoC and players dropping, we have also have other non-quantitative factors: lots of outrage, complaints and dissatisfaction with the EoC (not in the sense that they want to improve it, but in the sense that they don't want it at all), and a lot of support for on obviously inferior version of the game (2007) - a lot of the people did not go to '07 because they actually wanted to play '07, they went there because they were anti-EoC and it was the only alternative available. All of this suggests to me that a lot of people didn't like EoC and Jagex has failed to integrate them into the new system, or replace them with new players and that's a very bad thing.
  3. I'm curious why you think that. He is the lead developer of one of the most known 'classic' MMOs out there. Sure, some of the updates he has engineered has caused some animosity among older players, but he has done a lot to keep the game a thriving business. Yes, membership numbers are down, but as has been said many times throughout this thread, that's because of a huge host of interconnected reasons and any employer looking even a tiny bit beyond the simple "lost 50% of members over 6 years" will see that the vast majority is not the fault of Marks leadership and rather inevitable decline based on the aforementioned reasons. It may very well be the case that it wasn't Mod Mark's fault and that there is nothing he could have done to prevent this decline; however, this is by no means an obvious point. You need to provide some evidence to support this conclusion. A lot of people were very upset over EoC, many quit the game over it, and many jumped on the Old School bandwagon because of it. Those are certainly things that were directly under his control that have caused much disappointment.
  4. Surely (most of) the spare lamps were annihilated by the Soul Wars challenge? :P What happened there? You can't take them in there, right?
  5. I was excited for the Dung update, but I will now have to postpone it until next week so I can use the lamps. Great.
  6. Divination bonus is still not here? WTF, Mod Ana/Mod Trance? What's the current plan? To only allow it once everyone and their grandmas have gotten 99?
  7. My suggestion isn't for how to help people get the task done. I quite agree that this can be accomplished without large amounts of people. My suggestion is for how to deal with server issues and prevent crashes. We know that in such situations people tend to all go to the official world, and this causes a massive influx. Hence, it's better for Jagex to be proactive in this case, unless of course they like their servers going down.
  8. If they can't reinforce servers for events that were announced several days ago and are so obviously going to crash servers, there are some alternative methods they could opt for: - Announce on the main page a list of alternate worlds (5-7 or so) in order to spread traffic. -If you can't reinforce servers or make the announcement, then don't organize such events. It's really quite simple.
  9. Edit: Allegedly Mod Benji was nice enough to give a direct response. There won't be an update today (as Monday updates are usually unlikely anyways).
  10. World 48 is and has been a mess for a number of reasons. Chief among them is that it is the homeland of attention-starved wannabes who come there to pretend that they are top Runescape players and have their 15 minutes of fame. I try to avoid it when possible.
  11. Too much work. The customization trick is easier.
  12. That happened to me as well. I originally thought that it was some sort lag control, but now I am not sure. You can click "clear all" in the Customization interface and click activate (you may have to do this more than once), and the glitch will go away.
  13. I am in world 44, and it is absolutely filled with lag, for everyone. We can't move for long periods of time, and you only get to take a step before you're frozen again. Is Jagex cheapening out on server costs or something? The same thing happened with Battle of Lumbridge and the resource instances. A few people would join a world, and suddenly it would go to instance. This never happened before (for me). Just a few months ago I was in a much more crowded world 44 Soul Wars and I was able to play perfectly fine. Quite literally everybody is experiencing lag.
  14. I'm pretty sure the Mahjarratt questline ended with ROTM. I mean they could add mahjarrat to other quests, or start a new questline with them in the 6th age but I don't think they intended any others for that quest line because the whole point was for it to culminate in the ritual. The 'official' questline has ended. But I find the official tags and arc titles/groupings to be silly. In any case, it is quite clear that the Mahjarrat are far from done in Runescape. They are still major actors with their presence in various areas pursuing various schemes and interests. Their story is still continuous. The conflict between the Zarosian faction and Zamorakian faction is still quite unfinished. Sliske has only started his schemes. Azzanadra & Co. are still awaiting for Zaros. I don't see how it is done in any sense of the word. Ok, fair enough, I was thinking you meant a direct sequel and not just more from the characters. There are just so many questlines and characters that I'm looking forward to that I'm not narrowing it down to any specifics. The ones they do have coming sound great. Pretty sure the short one they mentioned is the Armadyl one involving citadels. The world gate one sounds awesome. Missing Presumed death has great potential. I am still hoping they give us the Dungeoneering finale involving bilrach's death and zamorak's return. I think for all its flaws, the story direction the game is heading has a lot of potential. I am worried though that having too much player choice may water it down some, but we'll see. Well, on this topic, I ocne again disagree with Jagex's labels. I would regard anything to do with Sliske to be a sequel/prequel to TWW, as it would explain the events of TWW or continue from them. The events happening are directly a consequence of the things that happened in TWW so I regard it as a sequel. As for interesting storylines, the Zarosian Mahjarrat, Sliske, Dragonkin, are the ones that I am interested in by far. No other storyline (and I am a quester at heart) comes even remotely close as far as my interest is concerned. Even the rumored 200th Elf quest dealing with Seren which has a lot of people excited does little for me when compared with the Mahjarrat. The Mahjarrat's development, characterization, lore, history is just superb. I am positively enthralled with them. As for player-choice, the way they have implemented seems to have been rather limited. It doesn't approach other games, not even close. And perhaps it shouldn't. It's nothing to worry about. Jagex has a tendency to undershoot, things are never as awesome as they sound (kind of like concept art), and sometimes that's a good thing. So you don't have to worry about that. When Jagex says player choice, they mean you make a few decisions, maybe align with one God/faction or another, but eventually the outcome ends up being the same. That's all they mean. And that's probably a good thing. It would take a crazy amount of hours and effort to craft separate storyline paths.

  16. It's too late for that, surely? Battle of Lumbridge provides T70/75 hybrid boots, and there are already plenty of boots out there. A lot of us higher levels would complain that such a monumental quest was giving outdated rewards. It's like how they keep releasing dragon items in high level quests/boss monsters even though that stuff is useless for high levels in EoC. I don't see what repeating that pattern will do. I do however agree with another RFD-like quest so that everyone can take part in it and have some enjoyment, rather than it being an entirely elite quest.
  17. After scavenging through various more stuff and podcasts, I have finally found out the question that I had desperately been seeking an answer to. The TWW sequel is Missing/Presumed Death. That will deal with Sliske/Dragonkin/Staff of Armadyl, as well as Ichthlarin, and what not. No word about the other Mahjarrat or Azzanadra, but still. I am hoping this is a Master quest (the narrative can't be told in a lesser difficult setting, in my view), if it is, all should be well. It will be coming out some time in October or November. This is the update that I am anticipating the most, bar none. Absolutely excited for it.
  18. I did multiple runs between reset time (midnight GMT) and the next few hours.. Zero pkers. This. And because one was carrying no items (well, I carried like 5 sharks), there was virtually zero risk. I saw not a single soul during my run, and I actually had to run to the KBD to get killed (I couldn't find the members wildy door, for some reason). Even if you did get killed, it was a minor nuisance at worst. The Wild is dead and so are the Pk'ers that inhabited it and they ain't coming back.
  19. Well, as long as Jagex doesn't stipulate that you can't die on the hard modes, one can always simply suicide.
  20. Yes, I don't personally mind it. It's tame in comparison to Dominion Tower and Temple Trekking. Those were hellish, when I did them.
  21. While it's true that each of the three quests had certain unique arcs, there is still a general and powerful link between all three that can't be separated and that makes me consider them to be part of the same story. Also, each quest is the consequence of major events in the previous quest. ROTM couldn't have happened without the ascension of Lucien in WGS, and TWW couldn't have happened without Lucien being deposed and the staff being separated from him, and the ritual rejuvenating the Mahjarrat, thus allowing them to pursue their trajectories. I have heard other people claim that they are standalone, but I don't buy it. I see them as part of a cohesive and unified plot. Yes, I realize there are more GM quests than the ones that I have mentioned. However, I was focusing on the WGS/ROTM/TWW storyline, as it's the one that I consider to be the most interesting, important, and well-built one. We certainly gets lot of wait-times for this one, it seems.
  22. This. We can't immerse into it if it lasts 45 minutes. Especially when we have to wait several years between each GM installment: WGS (2008), ROTM (2011), TWW (2013), ???? (probably next year or 2015 at the earliest -- no date). It has to be something special and long if we're waiting that long for it. It's stunning that 6 months have passed since TWW and we still don't have any details on a GM sequel. There hasn't even been any Master or Medium quests to fill in the details yet (Dragonkin or Sliske or Kharshai)...
  23. But you've also been vocal about gratuitous grinding recently. :twss: I don't think something in the 80's would be gratuitous. And I don't actually personally care about the requirements.I am high enough that no quest will ever, unless it is some new skill, be 'challenging' to me, level wise. The last quest for which I had to really gain a few levels, I think, was WGS that quest having to do with parrots and pirates. I simply find this discrepancy weird. They have pushed this grinding culture, so that requirement seems outdated. I don't think this is some big deal, and if they were never to change it, it wouldn't bother me, it would just be slightly odd, but that's about it.
  24. I but what how it's like you didn't even read why There's a very simple point to it. Design your content around what people actually do, not what they could do under perfect circumstances. Perfect circumstances just don't happen. This. It's also possible to get an untrimmed Slayer cape, but it doesn't happen very often. It's possible to get a fully-upgraded ring before 99, but it rarely happens. The de facto requirement for most people will be 99+. Not that this bothers me, but I can see why others might be bothered.
  25. The competition is so fierce that you have to be on full-gear for the whole race, or until you seize a respectable lead. It is rather hectic. Right now that gap is so close that anything could happen. Even the smallest of real life disturbances will shift the balance. And then the #3 and #4 guy are only 2-3 million points behind. Nothing that spins can't fix. It's still a 3-way or 4-way race, as far as I am concerned.
