  1. I don't mind the nerf to Warbands. It was too good as it was. However, why the change in times, to make it once every 7 hours?
  2. Isn't filter mode and unfilter mode still here? I haven't been playing lately, but I'm sure that's still the case (correct me if I am mistaken). What's the point of allowing filters/unfilters if this will get you an automatic mute? Also, obviously this is complete nonsense which seeks to for some inexplicable reason to destroy harmless and private fun between friends. I mean is it not enough that if your friends are upset they retain the option to report you? Why add this to the picture? Also, their excuse of "Well, just because we didn't address it for like 10 [bleep]ing years, just means we were busy, not that we had forgotten about it" is pathetic. No. If you didn't do it for years, then it obviously wasn't on your mind or a priority. To suggest that the rule has always existed and we were all "rulebreakers" is basically a lazy retcon. Rules are based on enforcement, understanding and precedent. That you didn't do anything or make any expectation or understanding known to the public which might have suggested that you don't approve of swearing amongst friends means that you didn't care. Don't pretend now that you cared all these years and were just "extremely busy". Bullshit. It is said that idle minds are the devil's workshop. This has certainly been true of this company, and it may as well be their anthem. They have a special talent for 'fixing' things which are not broken. Unsurprisingly they found the time to do it this month of all times when they had announced a slightly less demanding update schedule. They got a little bit of time and were off breaking things again for shits and giggles. Even more egregious that they did not see fit to mention this on the front pages. Keeping in line with their second most vaunted principle: let's change laws behind everyone's backs and not announce them so we can dole out punishments sadistically on people who did not know. Just pathetic.
  3. Ignore Urza. He's not a bad guy, but he can't help but senselessly jump to defend Jagex no matter what the circumstances or case actually are/is. It's habitual.
  4. So, we are now buying the right to grind a boss for a rare drop. What will they think of next? [hide] Having already brought back strength bonuses, godsword special attacks, melee class domination (new crossbow looks to take a lot more time to acquire than drygores), critical bonuses on claws and other things like this, it's quite clear to me that rather than designing a good system, they just want one that looks like it's good. My thought's on the EoC aside, this update just doesn't live up to my 6 months of expectation. The one boss I fought (Tertius) was fairly straightforward, but centered around running away from damaging areas, one of the weakest and most frustrating combat mechanics in my opinion. Adding a Gladius (the most annoying enemy in the whole dungeon) into the fight didn't help at all, and when I was finally done with my 6 kills, the most valuable drop I had (over 50 times more valuable than anything else) was the original key required to enter the room. I ended up going to Tormented Demons with 2 friends and having a load of fun on a half decade old boss that doesn't operate under the pretense of an advanced combat system (stuns) while being fundamentally the same as a game created in 1999(?). Tl;dr: Jagex should make bosses that fit their game (pattern recognition, gear swapping) rather than try to implement systems that don't work well (dodging/accurate movement).[/hide] I would like to register complete agreement with everything that Battosai has said. I had been on a hiatus from RS (doing absolutely nothing RS wise aside from daily spins) for month because of the lackluster month of updates that was May and just general waning interest. When I first read about this update I was mildly aroused so I decided to come back for it, at least to try it out. I logged in today after a few hours following the release. And I generally reached the same conclusions as Battosai. I just ended up logging out in the dungeon after a bit and have yet to return,. I have no interest in grinding again. I am Maxed, there should be areas where I can use my skills/cool gear (for which I already had to grind tremendously in order to obtain them) for fun things, rather it's just more grinding. No interest in this at all. Grind the bosses, terrible loot, grind for the keys. No thanks. I'm not going to say this is a bad update but it certainly doesn't hold my interest. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, I don't mind not returning to RS. After a year of serious hardcore RS, a lengthy hiatus is needed.
  5. I have just returned after a break of a few weeks. Can someone give me a recap on what's the latest tally on how PoP armours and Nex armours currently compare? Which is better overall? Which is better for bosses? Is one better than the other for all bosses, or does the specific boss make a difference? When I left, things were looking dire for PoP armours, as they were constantly tweaking armours to give Nex an edge. Thanks, it'd be greatly appreciated.
  6. It's possible, but without any hard data, it's just conjecture. I know I have been away for the month of may on a hiatus because of the lackluster update schedule.
  7. Back in the day when I was a noob in RSC, someone was actually running a restaurant in the Blue Moon Inn, and he hired me as a waiter. Fun times...
  8. That's a really good point. The amount of prayer they restore now is so terribly low. At Nex at least, it was this way prior to this week's update. Attackers would use Rocktails, while Tanks would wear mage gear (Virtus or PoP, PoP was slightly better) and use Brews.
  9. You need optimal or nearly optimal gear for high level activities. Good luck trying to get on a Nex team with PoP armour. Also, the fact that our high level armours which were advertised to be the best (PoP), and for which we made a considerable investment in are fairly worthless. What do you expect high levels to do? Herald this as some great day? The armour system is obviously flawed and it is particularly bad for high levels. The fact that Nex isn't instanced and there is fierce competition for worlds only makes this problem worse. Also, odd isn't it, that even some of the most elite players (level wise) have to settle for sub-optimal gear. Pretty much shows there's a flaw in the game. And before you should add "Well, that only applies to high levels.", yes, I'm a high level and I am voicing concerns which are relevant to my interests and problems in the game, just like every other player out there.
  10. What does power armour have to do with SoF/SGS? Also, RS is a fantasy world -- it's not like fantasy worlds don't have bright colourful costumes, or wings etc etc. Also, the reason everyone is hating on Power armour is that it has trashed on all our other armours, that's why. It was bad enough with the supremacy of Void/Nex pre-update, now Power armour just dominates everything while our defensive armours are useless.
  11. This. It started out as a very promising project that has only deteriorated with every passing month, it seems. At this point, I'd simply scrap the whole thing and basically incorporate the best aspects of EoC into the old system. At least that's something you can do and get out of the way in, say, a month, rather than constant changes.
  12. Sometimes the solutions are found by looking to the past. Having armour classes is not fine when one of the three armour classes blows the other two classes out of the water and dominates everywhere. It is also not fine that defensive armours and hybrid armours are useless. There is de facto only one class of armour : offensive.
  13. That may have been true in early EoC, but it hasn't plainly been the case for the past 5 months ever since Drygores came along. Or now when half the armours are useless because of being designated as defensive. Or the fact that Mage/Range don't have T90 weaponry.
  14. It has been 11 months, that they still don't have a direction after this much time is worrying and problematic for fairly obvious reasons. When they said "evolution", we all assumed that the evolution would stabilize after a certain period of development, not just "evolve" or "rework" itself into a new half-hearted version every 3 months endlessly.
  15. Bandos or Torva, if you can either.
  16. Brews were always a weird case. On hand you need relatively decent skills to make them, yet they were so useful that they completely eclipsed (particularly since OVLs came into the picture) every other kind of food and sort of made them useless. So you had a potion that overshadowed foods/cooking (which are explicitly and directly supposed to be used for healing, unlike potions). They are a hard piece of content to balance. Ideally, they should have some uses, but should be nowhere near as useful as they once were. I like the fact that rocktails and sharks are useful.
  17. Zaros or Guthix for me.
  18. Although this makes defensive armours even more useless, I'd agree with you on this point. I hated the ability to simply tank and SS God Wars when EoC came out. That's good that it has some difficulty again -- I suppose they did do one thing right. However, the drops are so horrendously outdated that increasing the difficulty sort of disincentivizes people from God Wars which already has diminishing incentives.
  19. How do you know this? Because they wouldn't make a referendum on this without making sure the result was the one they want. Actually I was referring to your implication that it wouldn't pass if there was a referendum. I agree with you that they probably won't host one, but if they did, there's a decent argument to be made that EoC would get voted against. -------- As for the discussion on whether Jagex will acknowledge a waste of resources and decide to cut their losses, well, this is the same company that allegedly lost millions on Mechscape and Stellar Dawn (or whatever it was). That's one of the reasons why 2011 was such an unprofitable year and they had to bring in SOF/SGS, supposedly.
  20. The four most beautiful words in our English language: I told you so. I am just going to leave that here. Not only was my so-called diatribe completely vindicated, but apparently their incompetence managed to exceed any and all predictions. But, hey, what do I know? I'm just a bitter guy! You don't get credit for predicting Jagex will [bleep] everything up over and over and over again. That's like asking for credit for predicting the sun will rise tomorrow. Touché. I wasn't particularly asking for credit, I was merely pointing out to certain people who had previously criticized me for saying what I did (despite having evidence) that I was right in saying what I did.
  21. The four most beautiful words in our English language: I told you so. I am just going to leave that here. Not only was my so-called diatribe completely vindicated, but apparently their incompetence managed to exceed any and all predictions. But, hey, what do I know? I'm just a bitter guy! Indeed you are a bitter guy, at least I didn't spend the week before the update whining and looking like a sore little boy on the forums throwing his weekly tantrum :P Look at how your post here reads too, puts you in such a good light! I made a total of two posts, the week before on the subject. One was a dreaded prediction about I thought they might do that would be bad for the game, though I gave them the benefit of the doubt. The second post was after I had spoken to two J-Mods, one on the forums, one in game, who both confirmed my predictions (and at that point I knew what was coming). But hey, if I was really mature, I would have given the benefit of the doubt and lavished dedication to a company that clearly doesn't deserve it even after the writing was on the wall, because that's what mature and non-bitter people do.
  22. Well, ideally, I'd retain certain features of EoC: such as the usefulness of elemental spells, the removal of expensive runes from spells (deaths/bloods) thus making spells accessible, the damage system (T90 or any tier weapons, regardless of combat style, all have, theoretically, the same damage), the ability of mage to actually be effective at bosses and so forth. In any case, the meleescape argument doesn't work, because they have let Drygores run wild for 4 months now. I am not even opposed to the specials, but they clearly can't make up their mind on EoC. It is absolutely tiresome to have to relearn every 3 months when they rework stuff. I wouldn't mind it if they maintained a consistent and dedicated effort, but usually they do a half-hearted rework, disappear for a few months while players complain, then half-heartedly incorporate feedback and so on. If they are really serious, there should be a team of J-Mods available on the forums that should be surveying the land so that a fix can be implemented within the next few weeks, not months.
  23. The four most beautiful words in our English language: I told you so. I am just going to leave that here. Not only was my so-called diatribe completely vindicated, but apparently their incompetence managed to exceed any and all predictions. But, hey, what do I know? I'm just a bitter guy!
  24. Indeed. It's forgotten that those people who are playing the main game rather than 2007 aren't necessarily doing so because they approve of EoC, there's a host of other reasons for them staying, such as not wanting to start over again, not wanting to miss out on all the other updates (aside from EoC) that have taken place in the last 5 years and so on. Anyone who proclaims at this point that EoC is going smoothly or is still overwhelming popular is waddling in delusion.
  25. How do you know this? If anything people are getting quite tired of the affair (even those who supported it zealously, such as myself). Things are still a mess -- every 2-3 months we get some ridiculously new ill-thought "rework" that just causes more problems, nerfs things that we had just gotten used to, some new changes on top level market and what not. Not exactly fun. Time, it seems all of ours' time, has been wasted. The only question is if they will simply admit to this. From a quick look at their pitiful QA performance, and the capricious nature with which they keep reworking things ("It's about balancing the triangle ... err, no, take drygorescape! It's about balancing the tiers so higher tiers are better than lower tiers, so take this exponential curve ... err, no, time to nerf this! PoP is the new best armour in the game ... err, no, Nex needs set effects ... not enough, Nex needs to be made even more offensive!). They obviously have no overarching vision for this and have simply resorted to throwing new stuff at the wall and hoping some of it eventually sticks. That's not the sort of result one would expect from something that has supposedly been in development for 11 months! This is something you'd expect in the early developmental stages where they were just testing all sorts of directions because they weren't certain yet. This is not the result one expects after 11 months. It makes me wonder ... just what the hell did they do in these 11 months?
