I just successfully completed mission #42 with 66% success. W00t. Sad story though. Now just need that 3 Chi.

Behind the Scenes: April 2013
Glacors and TDs have other little abilities that you also have to watch out of for. Automatons only have this one thing. If you can stun it, it takes away most of their damage output. If you melee with drygores/Maul, you can kill them faster than with Mage/Range, but there's still a chance that you could run into their Quake attack, you sort of have to watch out for it, and if you get caught up in it, you can die or take a lot of damage. If you can stun, that completely takes away the element of trying to run far away to escape, you just use a stun special and pound away with all your specials. I can't see how that solves anything or has any appeal. On the contrary, I think this will only encourage people to use the stun specials, and pound away with other specials. It's not going to break the trend in EoC of spamming specials mindlessly, in fact it will only be an addition to that trend. The intelligence required to correctly perform a stun is no different than knowing how to spam basics and then use a threshold at the right time. I was opposed to the drop rate increase as well. Not becuase I thought Automaton's drop rate was fair (it wasn't), but they increased it far too much. Myself and several other people had killed thousands and only gotten 1 gloves or less. Post-update, people who had never done any were getting them under 15 minutes. As for whether this will help the gloves crash, it will most certainly make it very easier for meleers to kill them. Most meleers use Void to kill them and were rather cautious, running away to dodge the quakes even when they weren't being used by the Automatons (the Automatons sometimes appear to be using them but don't actually go through with it). Now they can forget about taking much damage. I don't think this update will be the major impetus for the gloves to crash, but it will certainly add up with the other one. Good catch. I hadn't noticed that until now. I must have accidentally placed this here instead of the other thread. Perhaps a Mod can merge this into this week's update thread.

Behind the Scenes: April 2013
Come on, that's honestly an overreaction lol. Not likely many people meleed automatons either when it's far easier/hassle-free to use range or mage, especially since you can get the melee ones stuck. I sometimes overreact but can usually see it. I honestly don't see it in this instance. As for your claim that "not many people people likely meleed it"; that is certainly not true in my experience. During the 2 or so weeks that I no-lifed Automatons, the vast majority of people Meleed it with Drygores or C Mauls. Those that did it with Drygores often killed them fast enough that they wouldn't be able to quake and it was a popular method on RSOF. Even if you disagree with this, I don't see why you would want them to be stunnable? That'd still only make them easier. I think I would like for them to be of the same difficulty as Glacors, but that's just me.

11-Dec-2012 - Player-Owned Ports
I have 3 FOTS left still. So I might try to suicide it the next time that this voyage comes. If I pass, I guess I will have been Jagex'ed or RNG'ed.

Failed mission 42 with 82%. Meh.

11-Dec-2012 - Player-Owned Ports
oh lucky, i still too early for full sets, probably close to full tetsu set since i got helm and legs, second is seasinger, got only hood =p Good luck. You're at the stage in Ports where you get really impatient or bored; or at least i did. You will slowly make it though. I am still hoping I pass the missions, the Storyline one at least. I sent it out at 82% with merchant and FOTS. The other one for 5(+1) was with 84%.

11-Dec-2012 - Player-Owned Ports
FInally got mission #42 today, and 5 Chi. If I pass both, I will only need like 3 more Chi after that for full sets.

Behind the Scenes: April 2013
Automatons should not be able to be stunned. There's no need making them any easier. The whole point is that you can't stun them so you have to worry about their quake attack if your nearby. Now they are even more safe and the gloves are probably going to crash hard(er).

High Tier Item Access
This is true of course, but [not] to the extent that RS has experienced it to be. The reason that Nex items are crashing and the reason that it has been saturated is because Jagex handed out millions and millions of free experience in extremely important skills such as Prayer, Herblore and Summoning during their bonus weekend/promotional events which absolutely flooded boss hunting overnight. You had thousands of players who got important levels like 96 Herblore who would not have otherwise been able to do so, because of Jagex's short-sightedness. It used to be the case that at God Wars OVLs provided you with a perk; if you had them you would get preferential treatment in joining teams, and bosses were quite challenging to fight. Suddenly, because of the influx of this artificial supply of boss hunters, it became a *requirement* to have OVLs/prayer/Yaks. Suddenly bosses that were meant to be done in teams were soloed and rare drops were getting dumped into the game, driving their price. With EoC, Jagex made all these bosses even easier, and that's where we are at now. So, is it true that economies usually face the phenomenon you're describing? Yes. But in the case of RS, it has been tremendously exacerbated by ill-advised moves on Jagex's part.

03-Apr-2013 - Dungeoneering Dual Wielding and Charming Imp
Well, it looks like I won't be getting Dual PLS's after all, then. A shame. It's possible they might change it after feedback.

11-Dec-2012 - Player-Owned Ports
Yeah, I guess my lucky streak of starting with Random has ended completely. Anyways, I just got all the boosts to 3, and an adventurer reroll today. I am now just waiting for my ships and then hopefully if I get the last trio I can send it at 80+%.

Behind the Scenes: April 2013
Most God Wars bosses are far too easy as evidenced by the fact that people can solo them for as long as they wish. They were never intended to be done this way. It used to take a whole team for most and relatively some amount of experience and strategy. You could solo them but only get a few kills. Now people can hold a world for hours, just alone. That to me means that they they are broken.

High Tier Item Access
Well I have made a return to boss hunting the last few days with much success, and I have noticed that a lot of the prices have plummeted quite a bit, particularly for Nex. Unfortunately, it's for all the wrong reasons. It's not because skilling is a viable alternative or that boss hunting isn't the sole way to make money; it's because Nex is absolutely saturated and the supply is overwhelming the demand.

11-Dec-2012 - Player-Owned Ports
Yes, the point about statistically small dataset is absolutely true. I suppose I was being a bit too hasty. After a few more missions, I finally got my Random. I have slowly restocked up on all my Random event boosts (I had used all the Morale/SF/Combat ones on the Trio voyage for 50 Plate/Lacquer); all I need now is 1 more for Morale. I have also done 41 storyline voyages, and have 3 FOTS. So if the stars allign, I could have all the Port armours this week.
-
Behind the Scenes: April 2013
I can easily see GWD (including Nex) being the Offensive armour, while Barrows and Ports armour would be Defensive. (Paraphrased, everyone is going to want GWD gear and Barrows/Ports armour will be used solely by those who aren't rich enough to afford GWD gear.) inb4'd That's precisely what I worry about. As things currently stand, most monsters are far too weak for extra defense/LP to be of much use. Offensive capabilities are far more useful. Even now, just the tiny attack bonus that Nex has keeps it somewhat competitive with Ports; if Nex was totally offensive, it would completely overshadow PoP.

Behind the Scenes: April 2013
I am looking forward to quite a lot of things in this BTS: Castle Wars: All I can say is finally, helmets! It will be sort of odd to see such a thing go since it's been part of Castle Wars for so long but it really should have never been there. Though, a pity that the Barrows Armour Era is gone and now the best armours don't really have set effects. I really wish they'd change the way OVLs work in there so you would retain the effect on death. EoC: Looking forward to improvements. I do have some worries based on their statement that "Bandos will obviously be offensive armour". I had originally believed (when they first hinted at this) that we'd be able to modify each armour to get Defensive/Offensive versions, but if each armour is already given a fixed status of "offensive" or "defensive", then I can possibly see PoP armours getting shafted again in yet another effort to make Nex gear relevant. Dual Wielding: It'd be great if we can bind Dual Weapons/Shields without the use of an extra bind slot. God Wars: The items might crash, but it'd be worth it if the instanced version has new drops, that might have balancing effects. It would also be nice if the grave system for God Wars was made similar to KK. As things currently stand, because of how easy God Wars is, and how many high combat levels there are, most don't bother teaming anymore, it's either solos, FFA's, or very small teams - hence there is a risk if you take good armour there, you could lose it all for very little profit if you disconnect. Also. I was hoping that God Wars would be made harder overall, rather than having an easy version and an optional harder version (albeit with better rewards). If they do it this way, many will still opt for the easy version which is still sort of too easy. Really though, if there's any boss that really needs an instanced version, it's Nex. On peak hours, quite literally, *every* single World is taken: LS, non-LS, and Language servers. That's also another side-effect of handing free XP everywhere; you get a lot more overcrowding. It's filled with all sorts of people that'd never been able to get into teams Pre-EoC. Still, looking forward to this update. Hunter Sprites: Not that I do hunter anymore, and though I used to do these when they were for dailies, I gave up on these long ago for obvious reasons. Still, it's good of them to rework dead content, instead of letting it sit there dead and forcing us all to go there by adding some desirable reward.

Runescape 3 or New Skill(s) ?
Personally, I don't like either of these updates. That's not because these are bad updates or anything -- they aren't. My reasons are entirely personally. I am Maxed, and I don't really want to train or grind anything again. As far as RS3, while I know it's not just graphics, I have never cared for graphics. My computer(s) have always been able to play on High Detail, yet I have always played on minimum. Once in a while I might turn on High Detail to check the novelty of certain areas, but that's about it.

11-Dec-2012 - Player-Owned Ports
No. They are just...random. If you were getting them every single time on first round of boats for the day for all these weeks you were just lucky. That's true. Though, I have used my strategy, without fail, for weeks now.
-
11-Dec-2012 - Player-Owned Ports
Weird. So my strategy for Ports is that the last few missions of a day, I always open after reset. This always ensures that I start my next day with a Random. Today, no Random to start off, and I have done several more missions since. Still no Random. Is it possible they have changed rates? Possibly to make the totem that boosts chance of Randoms to be more meaningful?

200k chimes is not the maxed. I have had over 200k Chimes before.

Tip.It Times - 31st March 2013
Personally I think it was well done and funny. Obviously tricked some people here. I wonder if Guthix armor will rise in the next few hours over this... I did preface my post with incredulity. I suspected it might be April Fool's, but it wasn't April 1st here, and the updates in that article seemed plausible. As for Arceus authoring a BTS, well he did mention that he got from Mod Mark; Tip.it generally has friendly relations with Jagex and had this been true, it would not have been the first time Tip.it got exclusive information. As for the disclaimer at the bottom, I missed it. And yes, the article was incredibly well done and quite satirical.

11-Dec-2012 - Player-Owned Ports
Yet another bad day. No final Storyline mission, no Chi, and didn't even get the Random to start off the day. I will probably get it later tonight.

Tip.It Times - 31st March 2013
Surely that's not the real BTS? If so, that's yet another lackluster month (after March - though March was sort of decent). Yet another D and D? No thanks. There are already far too many of them, and most are quite generous. I don't really like this trend of D and D's. I feel that they are replacing regular training. As for the Guthix Wildy event; that seems like another forced effort to revive the Wildy. Unless I am mistaken, the reward is Guthix trimmed armour? Not exactly too enticing.
