How old were you when RuneScape was released?
Monticelso replied to X_T_H_X's topic in General Discussion
Well I think I would have been around 12. Runescape was pretty much the first MMORPG game I had ever played, I could even play it on my 56k modem which was the average connection back then! Which was the main reason I liked it so much, it didn't have amazing graphics (though I remember thinking they were cool at the time) and you could interact with people across the world. I could only play it around half an hour to an hour a day so I used my time the best I could. Nowadays I have broadband so can play it as much as I like, probably while i'm still playing. -
Well the general opinion here seems to be that it would be to difficult specify and program, to be fair my idea was a little radical. As for Cruiser's post I hadn't realised an idea had been put forward to abolish post count. I imagine alot of people would whine but I think a poll would have been unecessary, most people hate change and would whinge and whine about anything but they'd soon get over it. But reading over None2None's post again I think a rep system is a good idea, ranks could be given to players that put effort into their posts, they'd of course have had to be a part of the community for a while and recognised for their effort and time.

Thanks for elaborating Mr_Putter, I understand more what people were speaking of earlier on now. Yes it is frustrating when you have to be in a paticular position but often with a bit of common sense it is fairly easy to think about what you're doing. Or you could just run around in circles until you get the command screen  I think your analysis is a good description of the game to, it is fast thinking fun. I enjoy the realism more than anything, that is a truly unique part of the game. The final bosses aren't huge terrifying bosses with twin mini guns they're hard to kill don't get me wrong but in a more believable fashion. I advice you to start playing Chaos Theory as alot of people say thats the best one :)

Looking for duke Freedoms 2005/december rares chart/article
Monticelso replied to pokermaniac's topic in Help and Advice
http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?times=28 Is this what you're looking for? If it is know he has written other articles about the Runescape Economy. Just press "view archive" at the bottom of any article. -
Well i'm guessing you were a mod, your post seems to imply it so i'm not saying you're wrong. But I find your view a bit cynical, this community is alot better than any others out there (such as the Runescape Offical Forums). Perhaps, (and this is another thought) Post Count could be scrapped completely, I wonder what affect that would have if the Admins just got rid of it one day? I'm just rolling off idea's here to be honest, maybe Militaris is right and some people just post on this forum because they are bored while fishing and can't really be bothered to contribute. I don't really have a clear line of argument because I don't know what affect some of the idea's (such as post point system) and abolishing the post count would have on the users. We could end up a better community or much more like the RSO forums. (Sorry for coming across as arrogant, I know i'm new)

Well I fish Lobsters (and cook them). I get my fishing and cooking levels while at it. To sell I sell it on a busy world to pkers, they usually buy it at quite expensive price as they're desperate so maybe you could try that? There isn't really a secret way just be as efficient with your time as you can!
-
Yes but the market forums, aswell as a number of others dont add a post to your post count, the same would be for my idea. You wouldn't get any "points" for posting on the market board.

Thing is, to many people do it, it's not classed as spam because it's not flaming or anything. I can't report someone, like in my post for saying something like "Lumbridge because it is pretty". That won't get removed, but it's still basically adding nothing to the discussion. See where I am going with this?

Well i'm kinda new to Tip.It but don't confuse me for a forum 'newbie' because I do have experience with forums. Anyway i've spotted a problem with the users here and it happens with other forums. It is that people care more about there post counts than what they are writing 'Quantity over Quality', although evidently not with their posts. It's really annoying when you invest a fair bit of time into a post and nobody really writes a proper reply to your thread. For example I made a topic in the General Board about scenic area's of Runescape and what your favourite 'scenic' area was. I asked people to explain why they liked it and perhaps post a picture. Most people replied with barely one line of post citing a name of a place and no real reason why they liked it. I thought I had left plenty of room for discussion but to no avail! I was reading about a pking tournament aswell, some guy went to the trouble of posting that he didnt like pking and wasn't going to go. Why post? In the new Video games forum I posted a thread about a game I liked, leaving ample room for discussion, some people responded with one or two line of post explaining how they didnt like the game. When I asked them to expand and elaborate on what they meant they didn't post back. I think subconsciously we all like to post alot to have more posts to be more respected and noticed. I noticed the 'Top Ten Posters' option on the memberslist for example. But I don't think that post count is helping the forum in anyway. I think we should scrap the current post count for a 'post point' system. Now i'm not a programmer but I have seen it on a another Runescape fan site, RSboards or something? Where basically the longer your post the more "points" you get. Meaning people that post say, one line of post get 'x' amount of posts while people that post several paragraphs get more points. It would have to be worthwhile to post more indepth posts though. This idea may seem like a challenge to the post count system as direct and provocative as the 95 theses which Luther nailed to the church door at Wittenberg. However I believe that this forum will profit with a better system making the '+1' type posts extinct from Tip.It. Thoughts? I realise there can be faults in this idea but nothing that cannot be overcome.

This is probably the best fansite around and by that I mean in the community and helpfullness of the guides here. I also believe it is the oldest. The reason I use it is because I spend alot of my time fishing Lobsters on Karamja. So browsing the forums and reading through the Archive of Wisdom means for a more entertaining time. Well when it comes down to it, what would you rather do? Listen to the irritating noobs on the dock or browse tipit! EDIT: Would it be much of a problem if you replaced the word 'y' in your title to 'Why'. Sort of annoying lol.

new best food in f2p!yes, really...
Monticelso replied to maxdout4life's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, as a chef I enjoy making pizza's (favourite food irl). But yes they are the best f2p food, not best for pking with. However the best for training. Also until I read some of these posts I was pretty confident that Swordfish heals 14. -
Old Things on the RS site that was never released
Monticelso replied to ddaanniiellh's topic in General Discussion
Do you have a link for that? Sounds interesting thats all. Might encourage me to play on my "main" a bit more. -
This is a great blog, it's really quite enjoyable to read what the higher leveled respected players get up to in Runescape. Alot of blogs that I have read are quite mundane and a little boring. You put alot of effort into yours and make it entertaining to read. Good look with the goals and blog, nice job \ P.S sweet avatar :-w

Do your friends Think Runescape is lame?
Monticelso replied to iwatake's topic in General Discussion
Most of my friends quit Runescape, infact all of them quit about two to three years ago. I quit to, the only difference being I came back. So yes I do get mocked but i'm not ashamed of the game I play. However i'm ashamed of the people that give Runescape a bad name, the 9 year olds, the noobs and the all in all morons. But im not ashamed of the game. That's usually my comeback anyway. -
I'd say Microsoft Flight Simulator 04 is the one I have and thats awesome. There is a new one out I believe, but unless you have a really fast computer stick with 04.

Looks kinda.......curvy :-k I know I won't be getting it anyway, my bank balance wouldn't take it. However I wonder about some of my more richer aquaintances.

At what level does f2p become obsolete?
Monticelso replied to grodusking's topic in General Discussion
Well I joined members around combat level 50/55 if I remember correctly. Just after I had finished the Dragon Slayer quest I don't remember my other stats though. Members had only been out a couple of monthes and my friend had got it for his birthday so I figured i'd join. This was in classic though, and without any calculations and at a pure speculative guess level 50/55 in classic is probably the equivalent to level 70/75 in RS2. So I was around mid combat level for the time. -
So, who have you had on your Friends list the longest?
Monticelso replied to Huge Noob's topic in General Discussion
I've got a friend that played RS with me for about 4/5 years. Neither of us play that much anymore, he's into Guild Wars now. I've got his MSN though and we talk quite a bit on that. He's a really nice guy and a good friend still, after all these years :) His name is G0d less if any on you have heard of him (this is check mate). -
Call of Duty, Medal of Honor or Brothers in Arms?
Monticelso replied to woopidoo2's topic in Off-Topic
I'd have to say Call of Duty as it is a much harder game so in my opinion a better game than Medal of Honor (i've never played brothers in arms). I haven't even cleared Call of Duty Finest Hour it is so hard, infact I got stuck on the mission where you have to blow up the bridge pretty near the end I think. Medal of Honor is pretty easy, I have Frontline and Rising Sun. I used to have some on the ps1 and they were pretty good if I remember correctly. But Frontline and Rising Sun (Sun especially) are pretty easy, the enemies die in exactly the same way every time which annoys me aswell as the storyline being a bit unbelievable. But it is fun for a while, I like blowing up the carrier at the end or when Bromley jumps down from the window and shoots the Nazi's when you are undercover he says something like "caught you in a bit of a sticky wicket" or something like that (this is Rising Sun) so it's fun for a while. -
Anybody care to elaborate on the word linear? I think with the new game you have to make quick decisions throughout, there is no set path and there are (I believe) 3 to 4 different endings. I find the story lines more believable than other games in that genre such as 'metal gear solid' which well...the only reason you buy it is for the cutscenes. It's realistic as it only takes several bullets to die, in most shooter games your character can have 100's of magazines bounce off him without a hair out of place. However Sam Fisher pants and slows down while making heavy breathing noises when shot more than once.

Tip.It Times Presents: Jagex and Emergent Gameplay
Monticelso replied to Kiara_Kat's topic in General Discussion
I wouldn't really count that as holiday drops were meant to be just a bit of fun when they were dropped. But when Santa's were brought out people figured out what was happening with the economy and started hoarding them. Hardly in the spirit of Christmas really... -
Yeah they are hard games buts that what I enjoy about them :) Makes you think and work things out, theres alot of different gadgets to remember aswell so its a bit daunting when you first start. But you soon get into them.

Well I saw something about a Video Game forum however I couldn't find it/or it hasn't been implemented yet anyway i'll post it here. Has anybody played the Splinter Cell series, there are four of them now. I'm pretty sure you've heard of them (well if you are a console gamer) as they are on most consoles. Well anyway I got the new Splinter Cell-Double Agent game today and I have done about two levels on it and I think it is awesome. I found the graphics weren't that much of an improvement on Chaos Theory however the story line is much better. You get a fair few new gadgets aswell which are cool/like the finger print scanner and compact gun. Splinter Cell games have been critizized before of being to repetitive but with the new double agent feature you have to do special objectives for the NSA or JBA(bad guys) that occassionally conflict. You have to make decisions that affect the outcome of the game for example at the beginning you have to decide whether to kill a man, the NSA tell you to keep him alive however if you don't kill him you lose trust with the JBA. Basically I think it's cool anybody else played it, or any of the other games in the series for that matter? My favourite used to be the first game but this may take over it havent decided yet. What do you as tipiters think of the games?

I went to my friends 18th a little while ago, just a group of his good friends went round to his house and we just talked about stuff and had a fair few beers. We had other alcohol and some people got pretty drunk but we had a good time. That's the only one I have been to, to be honest and it was pretty good.

If you guys could get some pictures of your favourite area's that would be awesome. Up to you though but makes your point easier to see as some of those members area's I have never been to.
