General Graador - Maybe a Half Ogre and Goblin?
plasma4444 replied to Dire_Wolf's topic in General Discussion
I checked the source of the page. The name that Jagex gave to the file on their computers is also "ogre_body.jpg". My opinion: that's just what some guy at Jagex named his screenshot. The General is one of those monsters in the "other" category. -
Makes me nostalgic  .

Junk Trading: Acceptable, Practical Practice?
plasma4444 replied to benar's topic in General Discussion
Warning: this is NOT a support post for junk trading. It is simply an attempt to explain why people use it as opposed to using GE to raise the price. I'll continue darkvictorabstract's fictional example of a 2nd age plate. Suppose that there really is a 2nd age plate. The GE price is 60M, and the street price is 70M. Now, the no-junk-traders would buy and sell on the GE until the price reaches 70M. HOWEVER: The problem is that there aren't that many 2nd age plates. For prices to rise on the GE, there needs to be a LARGE trading volume of the item. Otherwise, prices would jump up and down every 2 or 3 minutes. With a rare item such as the 2nd age plate, there are not that many of them ,as they are hard to obtain. Pretend there are 10,000 2nd age plates altogether in RS. Of those 10,000 people, 2,000 want to keep it. So we have 8,000 being sold for first time on GE. Of the 8,000 people that now have one, perhaps only 5,000 will sell again. And then after that, perhaps only 3,000 will be traded. Rare items are not traded enough for the price to jump say, 10M. For proof, check out the GE history graphs for partyhat prices. Link: http://itemdb-rs.runescape.com/results.ws?query=partyhat&price=all&members= Of course, the price for the 2nd Age will rise. However, it will take a long period of time. By that time, the hype will have died down, as will have the demand. Furthermore, the supply will have risen, as more people will have been doing treasure trails in hopes of obtaining a 2nd Age. Solutions? I kind of like darkvictorabstract's idea of a Jagex price adaption team. \ -

I think you hit the nail on the head. Player moderater status is not meant to help the mod. It is meant to help the international community of rs players. If you only care for your own skills, items, and gameplay experience, then either don't accept if you're asked, or change your attitude. Likewise, if you're reclusive, either refuse or be prepared to be more outgoing. Anyone that accepts an invite to be a pmod should be prepared to humor the noobs, help the lost, etc. In my opinion, being a pmod would probably hinder your gaming. However, it would enhance your character, making you a better person. Being a better and nicer person is far superior to having combat lvl 126. Yes, some pmods abuse their power. But, although several people have testified to seeing that, none of them said that they saw that person later with their crown. Jagex is doing a good job of demoting the power-abusers. Let me end this by saying that although I am not a pmod, I have met several. They were extremely cordial to me, even as others were badgering them. That, in my eyes, deserves great respect.

[quote name="Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia; http://www.wikipedia.org"] Global warming is the observed increase in the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans in recent decades and its projected continuation. Global average air temperature near Earth's surface rose 0.74 ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâñ 0.18 ̢̮â¬Å¡ÃâðCelsius (1.3 ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâñ 0.32 ̢̮â¬Å¡ÃâðFahrenheit) in the last century. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concludes, "most of the observed increase in globally averaged temperatures since the mid-20th century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations,"[1] which leads to warming of the surface and lower atmosphere by increasing the greenhouse effect. Other phenomena such as solar variation and volcanoes have had smaller but non-negligible effects on global mean temperature since 1950.[2] While this conclusion has been endorsed by numerous scientific societies and academies of science, a few scientists disagree about the primary causes of the observed warming. Models referenced by the IPCC predict that global temperatures are likely to increase by 1.1 to 6.4 ̢̮â¬Å¡ÃâðC (2.0 to 11.5 ̢̮â¬Å¡ÃâðF) between 1990 and 2100.[1] The range of values reflects the use of differing scenarios of future greenhouse gas emissions as well as uncertainties regarding climate sensitivity. Although most studies focus on the period up to 2100, warming and sea level rise are expected to continue for more than a millennium even if no further greenhouse gases are released after this date. This reflects the long average atmospheric lifetime of carbon dioxide (CO2). An increase in global temperatures can in turn cause other changes, including a rising sea level and changes in the amount and pattern of precipitation. There may also be increases in the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, though it is difficult to connect specific events to global warming. Other consequences include changes in agricultural yields, glacier retreat, reduced summer streamflows, species extinctions and increases in the ranges of disease vectors. Remaining scientific uncertainties include the exact degree of climate change expected in the future, and especially how changes will vary from region to region across the globe. A hotly contested political and public debate also has yet to be resolved, regarding whether anything should be done, and what could be cost-effectively done to reduce or reverse future warming, or to deal with the expected consequences. Most national governments have signed and ratified the Kyoto Protocol aimed at combating greenhouse gas emissions. This post is now about global warming.
