they last about 30k exp usually if your somewhat good you can get 20+ pts a game (20 for tool) there are 2 types of tools morphic and volatile morphic you pick what you want to use volatile changes when your using it (on its own) your smithing then bam it changes to a needle i find it worth the time pking>skilling
