  1. Wait, how? Even if you could hit every single radio tower (doubtful), wouldn't there be like a whole bunch of HAM people and stuff? From my experience, that would be like their dream moment- all normal radio is knocked out and it's up to them to save the country.
  2. How would it work exactly? Give each unit a value, or something? Because if Dusty counter-attacked with 600,000 troops to my 200,000, and RNG said I won without a scratch, that'd be [bleep] up. Hell, even if I won with 100,000 loses it would be a bit iffy. Well, you work out a realistic scenario, both players work out a response to said scenario and a war judge then agrees to setting the probability of each person's scenario being successful. You run the numbers through the generator multiple times, and then the one with the most "Wins" gets to use his scenario. The other player must adapt his tactics to fit the scenario that won. Rinse, repeat, until the war judge feels the war can be ended, get a probability of the war ending, run the generator again. Decide the consequences of the losing player/continue for another turn, depending on the result. The war judge must remain completely unbiased and neutral in all of this. Also, the war judge should probably run the generator at the time, as well. I think that system would work pretty well. Is this it, ross?
  3. I think that by the time you both run out of spaceships, there won't be much need for anything else.
  4. Pizza. With cheese in the crust, no less.
  5. Do you think they would have done it if they knew someone was going to do it back to them? Maybe no, but we don't have to descend to their level. We're supposed to be civilized people, not animals, which means we shouldn't do things like that no matter what the provocation.
  6. Just because FTL is out doesn't mean that we don't have engines capable of taking us out of the solar system. 70% of lightspeed is still pretty fast. Brazil, Norway, and Japan already have an extrasolar colony, and Germania has two ships on the way to one of their own.
  7. What if the people of Germania don't want to be "freed" by you? Maybe they're happy under the rule of their current despotic overlord. Perhaps they've even gotten to the point where they are scared to be free. There's a certain amount of comfort in knowing that the decisions are in someone else's hands.
  8. I'm pretty sure this or something like it was mentioned on one of those illegal drugs threads a while ago.
  9. We'll take one of each type of ship, doom.
  10. That'd probably be safest, ross. Given the aliens' obviously hostile intent, I say we strike first and let the astrophysicists sort out the elemental remains later. Still looking for a ship.
  11. Still looking for a ship.
  12. Despite my people's initial resistance to colonialism, I have convinced them that it is in their best interests to have extraterrestrial colonies, if only to keep tabs on other nations' activities. To that end, Venezuela would like to purchase a ship to mount a Martian expedition from whoever is willing to sell. I'm an INTJ by the way.
  13. Venezuela is training a crew to man the ship we bought. We are also looking for water ice comets to harvest, so we can begin operations as soon as the ship is ready. Whoever is looking at terraforming Mars, we will be able to supply water more easily and cheaply than bringing it from Earth. I am passing control of Venezuela to doom temporarily, as I will not be able to follow this thread for about a week.
  14. Venezuela would like to purchase a multi-purpose ship for mining operations. We will not be harvesting asteroids, however. We will focus on a resource that will be in much higher demand if solar colonizing takes off. Even if it doesn't, this will still be something good to have: water. Our ship will travel out to the Kuiper Belt and sling bodies composed of water ice towards the inner solar system. By sling, I mean nudge into carefully precalculated orbit trajectories that have no possibility of impacting Earth. Once they are closer, they can be harvested by smaller ships. BONUS: If your nation has telescopes capable of looking for Kuiper Belt objects and shares that data with us, we'll give you a discount on future water purchases!

  17. Wow. That's pretty sweet. Good luck in your exploratory endeavors. We await news eagerly. Well, not too eagerly. It's gonna be at least 12 years before we get the first transmission, assuming you don't have any sort of ansible type device. In other news, something is happening in darkest Venezuela...
  18. Due to unforeseen complications, Venezuela's nuclear project was pushed back a little. Fortunately, no civilians were seriously injured and the radiation should dissipate within a few decades. A hastily mounted propaganda campaign succeeded in persuading the populace that nuclear power is still a sound principle, so another plant is under construction.
  19. Venezuela is is willing to deal with Argentina for uranium. We won't need any for a while, though. First plant is schelduled to go up approximately five hours real-time from this post. If that works out more will be built.
  20. Ah, I see. I wasn't aware how fast your new engines actually were.
  21. You might want to aim for a closer target first, doom. Perhaps Ganymede or Callisto, or even Titan. Triton seems excessive, given that there are two gas giants with plenty of moons closer in. Also, you'd be close to Earth should an accident happen, which would mean less lightspeed lag for radio contact. As for Venezuela, the new Verde Soylente is a go. We are ready to start shipments to MAD. We're also looking for someone willing to sell us uranium.
  22. Don't you have other things to do besides criticize how people spend their free time? I'm sure he's just asking because he's concerned about our physical and mental health.
  23. If you have that much of a problem with this, why did you comment? Wouldn't a better course have been just to ignore it and look at a different thread? ...Unless you're just trolling.
  24. Venezuela and Iran are allied.
  25. Exobreaker suits have arrived in Venezuela and been distributed to local law enforcement. What is the next project for Venezuelan scientists? Only time will tell.
