It was a book approved by the archbishop of Hartford, who had served as archbishop of Buffalo previously. This is the Catholic Church's brilliant solution to evil in the world. We don't know. Yeah, don't go around defending yourself with the reasoning that "If you don't like it, ignore it". It'll make everyone hate you. Biggieg does bring up the point of "Why do bad things happen in the world?" You know, I used to believe in God and all that just a few weeks ago, but I began to doubt my faith when right there, in my religion textbook approved by the Catholic Church and taught in our school, the exact following words. WTF?!?!?!

Dear God, it seems none of you are taking into account the implications of life in general. Do you know how much goes into maintaining our lifestyle? The water, the power, the food...no one could keep that running by themselves. Even if you could, what then? Nothing new to do after you've done it, no one to laugh or cry with...everything would suck. Hell yeah, I'd pick up a gun and kill myself. As for those who want to "remake the human race", pretend you can't.

So, I've been talking to a friend at school (well, before acquaintance, now friend), and he plays Guild Wars, same as me. So, we're going to go talk on TeamSpeak or whatever it is, along with a couple of other friends who play GW as well. So, I've got a twenty dollar budget to spend on, and my question is this: what should I get?

Well yeah, of course society is going to change. Religion, however, hasn't changed much since monotheism became popular, nor the power it still holds over the people. While Christianity certainly doesn't control and governments anymore (unless they're keeping it a secret), Islam definitely is. Nah, unless religion changes radically, like polytheism to monotheism, I'm not seeing a move towards widespread atheism coming.

Oh, then no. I believe new religions will just keep popping up. We're bound to have another Jesus-figure sometime. Well, then again, look at the Mormons and Brigham Young. New, fast-growing religion right there.

You don't necessarily have to cast off religion in order to live an adventure. Religion provides a secondary source of peace among the populace. Some people will figure that the law is overrated, but might not commit crimes because they're afraid of offending God. Religion provides peace and order, guidelines and rules for those who need direction in life, then developed into the secondary source. Hope that made some sense at least.

I meant you were talking about how a government had a state religion, but then rejected it or something, not that atheism is a religion. Like I said, it'd be hard for a society, assuming you're talking about a country here, to throw off religion because there is such a diversity of religion. Maybe if there was only one religion though, it could happen.

Episode VI came out in 1983. Episode I came out in 1999. Only 16 years difference.

It seems you're still talking about some sort of state religion though. It might happen if there was only one religion, but there's five, not counting the various cults or other major religions over the years. Even if there was only one religion, I doubt that everyone would accept atheism, but the majority might.
