Good computer for my brother?
All right, so now that I've got my laptop figured out, I need to find a laptop for my brother. He will be going to college in 3 years so for now we are getting a desktop replacement. The key features we need are: 17.3" screen or bigger Dedicated graphics Wireless-n (seems like it is standard now) Numeric keypad So I have found this laptop for a cheap price. Is thisa good idea? I don't really want to go over $700, and my local store has it.

Real life help & advice
[/hide]Get a hobby. It can be anything, really. Trial a number of different things until you find something you're interested in. That's my problem. Either I can't do something or I have done it/don't like it. Running, fitness, football, handegg (if you live in the US), piano, guitar, electric guitar, keyboard, start up photoshop, start up GIMP, try illustrator (lots of money to be made here) or make a blog? WTF is handegg? I live in the US and I've never heard of it. Do you mean American football? Because that is the strangest name for it I've ever heard. Illustrator, I'm assuming, is a program like photoshop/GIMP. Where is the money in that? Illustrator is a vector imaging program made by Adobe. @Pirate: Everything you said there either turns me off or I am incapable of. For example, I can't really buy any instruments or software because my family is rather poor and I don't have a job (see: first post). I can't really do anything like sports because my homework load can be massive due to my high-level classes. Also, I can't go out for much because my parents don't have time and we can't afford another car. Also, I know that I want to either go in the medical or engineering field. (Big difference, I know) How can you call american football american football if you use your hands and an egg shaped thing. Handegg. @Shawn, Illustrator makes cool money with T Shirt designs, theres always time for sports. And, get a job? And, torrent software, GIMP is freeware so no torrent required for that. (nobody is going to buy photoshop/illustrator, its like 100) Got an iPod/MP3 player? Get some cheap running shoes and cheap sports clothing and whenever you see free time just go running with music in, its cool and calming and relaxing and good for your condition. I torrented adobe cs5 master and office 2010 on my brand new pc last night. Retail: $2200 iirc. Actually, I don't have any music players. I also don't live in an area where running would be advisable, if you get what I'm saying. [/hide]Get a hobby. It can be anything, really. That's an excellent place to start. Now do some research, go to the library, find some info on those. You don't have to choose, but knowing that you enjoy learning about either (or both) of them will be a huge benefit. That is assuming those are topics you enjoy, and not ideas forced on you by your parents. Hobbies don't have to be non-academic. If you love learning, then learn. Lol@Elknight. Good luck convincing the NFL to change its name. We already have an NHL, anyways. I already know why I want to do each. My parents want me to become a doctor, and I know, along with them, that the best jobs in the world are in medicine (Very high starting pay, people will keep getting sick = no unemployment, the job is incredibly easy once you pass med school). I want to go into computers/engineering, but that has very low pay and it is hard to get a job in a recession like the current one. My family also says that as a doctor, you have to work only a few days a week and will have loads of time to have fun. However, that got me thinking: what is "fun"? That idea progressed into the state I am in currently.

Real life help & advice
OK so I have a major problem here. Since middle school I have been playing online games like RS and stuff and doing nothing else (no life, I know). I still had friends and stuff at school and did one extracurricular activity (robotics). I am now entering my senior year at high school and have no idea what to do with my life. I am very smart, #8 in my class. I am also starting to get very bored of gaming. However, I seem to have no interest in anything else. It feels like its pointless to do anything because nothing worthwhile will come out of it. It basically seems like there is no fun in life. I like to watch sports, but I can only watch a game for 30 minutes before I start to get bored. I can't really go out anywhere because I live very far from my friends (out of city school). Also, my parents think that I am "perfect" and that I don't need to be doing stuff that "stupid American kids" do (they are from India) and think that I will ruin my education doing that. So here is my question: What can I do for fun? Anything I try gets boring to me really fast, and I come back to this question in a worse mental state.

Is this a good college laptop?
I just got the Thinkpad. It is very good, I can feel that its not loose/about to break or anything. It seems a lot more sturdy than the HP laptops all over my high school. There are just three problems: 1. The battery only lasts for ~3 hours with minimum settings. This seems unusually short for a 9-cell battery and much shorter than on Lenovo's website. 2. I cannot seem to disable the Nvidia NVS for the Intel HD graphics. This seems like a great battery saver. There is no option in BIOS to even select the integrated graphics. 3. Speaking of BIOS, I downloaded the latest one from Lenovo's software manager, and now it is impossible to access BIOS. It just goes straight to recovery.

Extracting digits out of integers
I am trying to make a binary to decimal converter on the ti-84 plus silver. I have the OS 2.53 with new shortcuts and stuff. I already made a d-b converter which was ridiculously easy.

Extracting digits out of integers
Does anyone have an algotrithm to extract digits out of a number? I have thought for a long time about this to no avail. For example: the 3 out of 1545253553 the 4th digit from the left of 011001011 I will be mainly using this for binary.

Computer --> TV
Usually when this happens on my monitor (sometimes on startup and stuff) I just press the "auto" button on it. I doubt there is something like that on your tv, unless it is hidden in a menu. Try searching the manual.

Whats currently a good Antivirus program?
lol @ your fanboyism. 2x a week is quite low for the amount of definition updates on an antivirus. Also, no antivirus can get every single virus that exists. That could just be a typo. I get updates 2x daily from avast!

HP Printer Installation
Future patches? I am getting a computer in 2 weeks (stupid lenovo takes so long to build) and I don't want this to happen to it just because of the printer.

HP Printer Installation
Yesterday I bought an HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 Wireless All-in-one printer. I configured it with my wireless router then installed the software on the cd. It installed HP solution manager and HP digital imaging monitor. Ever since then, msiexec[Caution: Executable File] (I know what it does) has been running constantly on my computer. I tried to restart twice, but it does not go away. Randomly it will launch other processes and use the entire cpu for about 5 seconds, which is really starting to annoy me. What is it doing, and what can I do about it?

Will this video card run a game?
I was unable to find anything specific on the 560v but it looks like the 3870 is much better (especially because its a desktop model).

Is this a good college laptop?
Screw the HP I know they're bad (compaq is a subsidiary of hp right? I used to have a compaq that went bad in a couple years). At the moment I am considering this with the upgraded touchpad, bluetooth, 9 cell battery, and the 2nd wifi option. I heard these things are indestructible and plan on ordering it soon ($775 discount ends the 15th).

I killed it with 89 slayer and a pie. Use a fire cape with the highest fire spell you can use.

summoning experts plz?
Gold: toads. There is one higher familiar, but the 2nd costs too much. Green: once you hit 80, use on hydra Blue: elemental titans (earth). Obby charms take too long to get and waters cost too much. Crimson: unfortunately your best bet is lobsters till 85 so save for last.

Whats currently a good Antivirus program?
I tried avira once, but when it updated the definitions file, it crashed my computer (my brother's too). When I restarted I left it alone, and it decided to auto-update. Somehow it also managed to crash my router (???). Anyways, I personally use avast, but MSE isn't that far behind. Don't like the avast 5 update though, it just got a lot harder to disable when I need the system's resources (which is whenever I'm doing anything).
