Zombies. A reality?
There's already a disorder called "congenital insensitivity to pain". See The Girl Who Can't Feel Pain.

Nice linework and colour schemes. Shading is very flat, though. Don't be afraid to go wild with harsher contrasts.

I-Doser - Getting High, Without Drugs
I tried LSD up to around 70%. Did it "for real" this time, really trying to get into the mood. Dim lights, comfortable sitting, eyes closed most of the way through. I didn't feel quite as nauseous as last time but I had the same tightness in my chest/throat. I went into a very slow and relaxed state, but that was about it. I'm pretty disappointed. I'll try heroin or Hand of God tomorrow. People have said to try those if nothing else works. :| Try looking online, either as torrents or on Limewire.

Criminal intentions
Hmm.. Hope you don't mind harsh criticism. :? There's not much of your own work to comment on. Honestly, it looks like you took a comic off the net, pasted it, added some effects and called it "your" graphic. With that aside, it has a very weak composition. The focal point is nothing special, you smacked it right into the centre and applied a fade to it. This just makes it stand out less and seem less important. The text is a bit plain and doesn't really seem to add anything to the piece. It looks like you picked a random curvy font and moved it next to the guy with the gun. The border looks like some sort of techno imitation and really doesn't work with the rest of the "mafia" design. The large black empty spaces leads the eye to wander and makes things a bit boring. I just don't see anything to marvel about (no pun intended). :-#

I-Doser - Getting High, Without Drugs
I get a down period from alcohol and caffeine, but I think most of us are talking about "highs" from drugs like marijuana. I feel great the next day after smoking marijuana. I feel refreshed, happy, relaxed and well-slept. I also tend to appreciate nature and food a lot more. What makes you think all drugs are bad and all drugs have negative long term effects on our bodies. You'd have to be really ignorant to believe that. Ever heard of medicine? It saves lives, you know. ;) Running into what problems? :| Please elaborate. You're making yourself out to be the ignorant one here. If you're interested in more information about soft drugs, I've got a (slightly outdated) discussion on them here. http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=690 ... sc&start=0

Guns, knifes and school violence
Yep, unfortunately lots of guns are stolen in the U.S. One source claims that "Cook et al. (1995) estimated that some 500,000 guns are stolen each year."[1] Like I said in my earlier posts, gun laws alone wouldn't do much. In my opinion the best way to minimize violence is to really change the public's opinion on firearms. Currently, a lot of American citizens see guns as items for protection or sport. If the public saw them purely as "killing machines" then there would be no demand for them. When citizens stop demanding firearms, implementing gun laws will be a piece of cake.

Yep, that's normal.

Guns, knifes and school violence
Not in the United States. Most gun sellers in America attain their firearms legally. They then sell them (legally) in their shops or at gun shows. A small percentage sell their firearms illegally to youth/criminals. Citizens can legally buy guns from their local shops with just a bit of paperwork. That's the real issue here. If there were no gun shops it would be much more difficult to buy guns in America. What's more, trafficking guns is very different from trafficking drugs. It's easy to get drugs because they are often things that can be farmed/grown in a house (marijuana, shrooms, etc). However, turning your house into a firearms factory is not easy and would surely cause a lot of suspicion. If the laws are passed which restrict the manufacture of firearms for citizens in America, the "secondary" (black) market would be forced deep underground. The market, which once sold legally-bought guns, would be limited to selling (a) stolen guns or (B) imported guns. Both options would be expensive and risky. Prices would skyrocket. The average student would no longer be able to simply "buy a gun". It would be an expensive, lengthy and very illegal process. Sources: [1][2][3]

Don't be afraid to use a more advanced program like GraphicsGale, Gimp or even Photoshop with your pixels. :) You can work a lot more efficiently and layer your artwork. They are also a big help for better typography. MS paint is old and deprecated technology in the world of CG art. :| It baffles me why people are so willing to use it over better (and free) technology. As for fonts, check out dafont's basic section.

Rowling Says Dumbledore Is Gay.
His post made no explicit sense. However, implicitly it said that Dumbledore was a pedophile and loved Harry. Whether or not he specifically said it in words, it was most certainly implied in his butchered mathematical equation for pedophilia. This is just one particular interpretation of the guy's post (although I'm sure many people would interpret it that way). Bad analogy; you're switching around the sexes and sexuality. A more consistent analogy would have been an elderly lesbian female who's giving a female student private lessons. Either way, it doesn't look like pedophilia at all. It's just the school's most famous wizard going for private lessons with elderly people of the same gender. Remember, he was also privately tutored by Lupin (among others) for a time. Either way, all it looks like is an exceptional student who brown noses and goes to private lessons with an elderly teacher of the same gender.

Rowling Says Dumbledore Is Gay.
It was never written in the book that Dumbledore was straight. In fact, and correct me if I'm wrong, it was never written that Dumbledore has ever had a female love interest. We only ever hear about his interests and relationships with males (Grindlewald, Dodge, Harry). And yes, you are a flaming homophobe. Why does everyone automatically assume that every character in a book must be straight unless explicitly stated otherwise? Introducing a Mr. Dumbledore (as a partner) would cause a lot more controversy than a Mrs. Dumbledore. Haha, clever.

I-Doser - Getting High, Without Drugs
I tried my first dose, 80% opium. Never tried opium the drug and I didn't have a good idea of the effects. The result: By 70% I started feeling slightly different. I had a tightness in my chest, strange pressure on my ears, I was able to recognize the beat better, and things seemed to move slowly. I was feeling quite relaxed and tired but at the same time slightly nauseous from the buzzing. By 80% the "high" was gone and I was bored and just nauseous. Tomorrow I'll make a more serious attempt. Maybe weed or LSD, not quite sure.

For god's sake, please learn to watermark your work! What's the point of all those watermarks, anyways? If somebody wanted to rip your stuff they'd just rip it from your client's signature box. Try invisible watermarking if you're really paranoid about it.

I-Doser - Getting High, Without Drugs
I'll try an I-Doser hit of marijuana later tonight. :) I'll tell you how it compares... I wouldn't call this a "safe alternative" right away. A lot of the worries surrounding soft psychoactive drugs (LSD, shrooms, cannabis) are the psychological effects. Anxiety, paranoia and "bad trips" from these drugs have often been documented to trigger mental illnesses (like psychosis) in rare cases.[1][2][3] In this thread alone, it seems like many of the I-Doser users experienced slight anxiety and paranoia from their short-lived experience. I'm sure as technlogy advances and the I-Dosers become more "potent" they will also have increased psychological risk for those (rare) individuals susceptible to mental illness. That's just speculation, though. Just a note: please be aware of the disclaimers. [source]

Vectorsig
Hah, what's with the "drop here" arrow? Great stuff DH. Very nice scene... Good framing, too. Doesn't need a border. This is as good as I could get it at 30kb. Not as sharp as the original but you may prefer it to the dots. Up to you...

my drawing :)
Great style. Nice job on the coffee stain. Good addition with the shrooms... :)

I hope you don't mind criticism. Your latest and current sig is great. No doubt one of the best composed pixels I've seen on tip.it (and I've been here for ages). Great composition, nice colour scheme, fantastic shading style, great depth... A keen effort from a skilled artist. The only problem is with text. Your typography is really weak in all your sigs. It really brings down the quality of the pixel work. The fonts are tacky and the positioning is unoriginal, making for boring and amateur text. Also, I like the "pastel" colour scheme and detail in this one: [hide][/hide] Keep it up. Hopefully you can improve on the text.

Guns, knifes and school violence
Guns are harmless if people don't use them. But, in the same logic, so are nuclear bombs, but those sure as hell aren't legal and no sane person would label them as "harmless" devices. The issue lies in their potential danger. IMO, neither weapon should be legal to the average citizen. Why? As I see it, strict gun laws would make a huge dent. It wouldn't prevent shootings completely, but it would certainly help minimize them. The harder it is for a student to attain a gun, the less chance there will be of school shootings. Alcohol isn't designed to hurt anyone. Guns are, though. ;) No. I believe the best way to prevent gun abuse is to change the public's opinion on guns. America (and other pro-gun nations) need to start seeing guns as what they are: machines designed to kill. Only when demand is truly low will strict gun laws be able to work effectively.

Your Last Meal.
In an Ali G episode he asks whether you could cheat the system by asking for an all-you-can-eat buffet. Then you could keep eating and never get executed. :P My ideal meal would be: Appetizer - Soft shell Taco from Taco Bell (with a dark German beer) Entree - Fresh Italian pasta alla carbonara and Bruschetta (with a fine white wine) Dessert - Hash Brownies (with a diet coke) And mad munchies... :)
-
Wine or Beer?
I'm a beer guy. Dark German ales are my favourite.. Anyone ever tried Warsteiner or Paulaner? Too bad nobody up here drinks that stuff.. Keith's or Rickard's Red is what I'm usually stuck with. :)

Reading Is good for clubbing/Clubbing experiences
I live in Canada, but I've traveled to Barcelona before. They have some great clubs there! :P I'm 17, and I started clubbing last year. I usually only hit the all-ages events, I find them to be a lot more fun for kids our age. It's sometimes uncomfortable dancing with girls several years older than you. Sounds lonely.. :|

Al-Qaeda urges cartoonist death, threatens Swedish firms
It's too bad the media is making such a big deal about it. The more they publish on the matter, the more they advertise the bounty for the terrorists. That's [bleep]ing awful -- you sound like a bloody terrorist. You're ignorance and hypocrisy is astounding. Nobody should have the right to decide who lives and dies. And nobody should begin to question one man's life merely because of something he drew.

How to make a John Kerry speech interesting:
It's disturbing that Kerry starts to answer the kid's question as he's getting tasered. Hell, the audience was making more of an effort to stop the cops. You can hear "What has he done?" and "Stop!" through Kerry's rambling answers.

Need Confidence Boosting tips...
I disagree. Not everybody is born with confidence. I was born shy, but I've since drastically changed my image and now I'm seen as outgoing and confident. In Western culture, confidence is extremely important, especially in schools. From personal experience, my life has become so much better since I've built up my confidence. Not only have I met new (and nicer) friends, but I'm getting more jobs, I'm participating more in school and I'm now confident in organizing major events and parties. My advice... Start going to house parties on the weekend. It's a great way to practice your social skills and meet new people. If it's a high school party, there will probably be alcohol. Drink if you want -- it will help boost your confidence. (be responsible, though) Any sort of socializing works, though. Jobs, traveling with kids your age, etc. :)
