Your Theory of Creation - Life, The Universe & Everythin
You know what I think is perfect irony here? The more theories people come up with on how Dark Matter influences the universe, and how many Big Bangs/Small Crunches we've had, the more fuzzy it becomes, and the less science it really is. Using a book dear mr. Hawkings wrote as evidence for a physics theory is preposterous. Universal Pull? Matter, Anti-Matter, Dark Matter? Putting earth into a Black Hole? To me this all sounds way too much like Aristotle waving his hands and saying everything falls because it wants to move to its rightful resting place. I'm also very much amused by someone saying this: Alright, so basically we either need to believe in something we don't fully understand yet (we just do random experiments and say: "Look, that's it!") or face that our theories may not be 100% correct. The fun thing is that scientists never want to take the second option until it is too late. Right now the field of Physics is off to such ridiculous depths that there are more contradictions in it than there are solutions (judging from above debate, where even the people who allegedly think they know what they are talking about disagree), which is of course quite an achievement in itself. I'd also say that explaining something by saying "Oh, that's Dark Matter. I don't really know how it works, but it's really there, even though you can't see it!" sounds like someone saying: "Oh, that's God playing tricks on you - He's there, even though you can't really see Him!" Some physicists apparently have a hard time noticing two things (which have been known since Popper and probably before that still): [*:33mk8zr1]Science will not get you closer to the ultimate thruth. [*:33mk8zr1]Just because the current theory is X, that doesn't mean that the correct theory is X too.

Firefox
Then you've either been scammed or you can't read. Firefox 2 is due for release sometime later this year, Firefox 3 won't come out until 2007, and nobody knows when later versions will be out. The latest version is Firefox 1.5.0.1, which can be downloaded Free (as in free beer, freedom) from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ .

Visual Basic
So? Basic programming language is still the same. He won't be doing much else yet anyway...

Visual Basic
The newest versions of VB.NET have a decent free version :) http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/vb/ This will be quite enough for you while you're learning, maybe if you ever go Pro with VB (which I wouldn't recommend, and which doesn't happen a lot from what I know, but still...) then you'd probably want a more complete edition (which then costs lots of money of course).

Burning of European Embassies in the Middle East
Let's not judge the religion by the actions of the people eh? That would be pretty hard since Muslims who condemn these acts rarely speak up, letting these extremists create the whole representation of Islam for non-Muslims. It would be pretty easy, if you didn't just read the Media you want to read. Geesh, look beyond the tip of your nose please... these non-violent muslims do exist, they do condemn the violence, and they do even get in the news. They are the calm people in suits you see being interviewed, that is, if you ever watch some news source which isn't incredibly biased. And for that matter, before you start judging a religion based on what some people claim it is, maybe actually look into what the religion is about? There's been a very good topic on the matter of Islam on these boards which was not too long ago. Go read that instead of spouting stupid incendiary prejudisms into this thread. That said, in my opinion the burning down of embassies is stupid, irresponsible, and those who do it should be punished. Period. At the same time, the papers who published the cartoons should have thought twice before they did so, as should *especially* the papers that reprinted them after all hell broke loose already. Stupid sensationalism.

Burning of European Embassies in the Middle East
The hamas government is actually protecting the Christians and other foreigners in the Palestinian state from harm, and condemning all acts of violence because of the cartoons, from what I've read... Source: http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/02/03/news/islam.php (second and third page)

Movies of 2005
So because you don't like it, nobody likes it, mm? Yay for generalizations! Like that'd make a difference. (to you anyway) Sin is not something you should be joking about. Least of all when you seem to have a ready-made idea of who's being sinful and who's not - in other words, you're judging, but you expect everyone who's being judged to take things lightly? Give me a break... You know what I think? I think you're one of those right-wing Christian people who think all homos go to hell. And I disagree with you. However, that doesn't mean we can't debate - as long as you have the guts to stand up and say what you mean, instead of hiding behind a silly "this was a joke ignore me please" excuse. Mean what you write, write what you mean.

Wow! This is impressive! Conversation with a robot!
Jabberwacky is alright, but it's still very much not human. AI isn't that far yet. It seems jabberwacky won last year's Loebner prize though.

Solvent abuse
None. How many people do you know who have used drugs and have no problems whatsoever? I know at least 20 such people, and I can assure you, they have better first-hand knowledge of what drugs can and can't do with you, and what you can and can't do with drugs. For the record: [*:oo8xashm]I don't do drugs myself. [*:oo8xashm]Whatever you do, don't try to get high on solvents. If you have to, then go to a clinic and use government-distributed stuff, and, especially if it's the first time you do drugs, use it in the neighbourhood of people who know what they're doing and when things are going wrong. That does not include your classmates.

Cm Site Design
[*:1cbt2rox]http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=www.Freewebs.com%2Fcmsitedesign%2Findex.htm 18 validation errors No character encoding [*:1cbt2rox]Standard freewebs template advertised as your own. (that's called lying and/or plagiarising - the latter being punishable by law) [*:1cbt2rox]Lame right-click prevention script that doesn't even work. [*:1cbt2rox]HTML 4.01 Transitional doctype - Real Men code Strict. [*:1cbt2rox]IE-only copy-pasted lame scripts used. (apparently they'd generate rain/snow - which is only annoying anyway, and hogs your cpu while browsing) [*:1cbt2rox]Garbage search box - Google for the win. [*:1cbt2rox]Bad html probably generated using either Frontpage or a Freewebs web editor thing. [*:1cbt2rox]Lots of speelin errors on all pages, lacking tags on subtitles which makes them not stand out, which sucks. [*:1cbt2rox]Tip it is not your sponsor, I recommend removing their link unless you want legal action from them. You can link to them (though it's nicer to ask first), but you can't go around saying they are your 'sponsor' - that implies they give you money and condone you, which they most surely don't. [*:1cbt2rox]Lame background music using invalid HTML, as mentioned by runesmithie. [*:1cbt2rox]You only design freewebs websites, which means you know squat all about marketing and design. [*:1cbt2rox]You're advertising your 'own' toolbar which is actually just a premade template with your name slapped on it. That's lame. It's probably a Bob-damn useless toolbar too. [*:1cbt2rox][email protected] and [email protected] aren't really email addresses I'd trust the moment I see them. Get a real email address. And a real internet provider while you're at it. A domain would also help (sic post above). [*:1cbt2rox]You launched the site without finishing it, and you don't mention any information about your staff - you don't even let people know what your real names are - how are they supposed to trust you? I could go on, but frankly, I'm sick of looking at this piece of ..., so I'll leave it at this. Fix all the above and try again.

HTML HELP
document.write is evil, and won't work as soon as you leave your cuddly HTML 4.01 doctype (you did specify a doctype, did you?) and use xhtml or anything else that's XML-based. Use DOM scripting instead. see http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/DOM.

Browsers...
Then you've probably either installed MSN 8 beta, or MSN plus or some other extension. I've only got MSN 7.5, and the hotmail email check, and the msn spaces links in the UI still open in IE. Which sucks.

problems adding a printer
Okay. Something which I totally don't understand, about anyone asking help here or wherever, is why they think people are psychic, and will know the problem as soon as you say "it doesn't work" (in your case "it won't let me get into windows 2k"). IT'S [bleep]ING NONDESCRIPT! You're not saying what you're doing. You're not saying what happens. You're just saying "I can't do it, guess my problem." Well guess what, WE'RE NOT PSYCHIC. 1. "neither laptops can add the printer. the printer is attached to a cpu..." - Is that CPU one of the laptops? (Note that CPU means Central Processing Unit, and even if you want to use it as some botched-up abbreviation for 'computer', laptops are computers too...) 2. What OS are the two laptops running? 3. Are there any other machines in your network? What OS do they run? Can they access the printer? 4. Can you access filesharing on the windows 2k machine from either of the laptops? 5. Have you checked whether all machines share the same workgroup? 6. Have you tried using the Windows XP (assuming at least one of the machines runs that) Home Network Setup Wizard? 7. How are you trying to add the printer? Exact steps please. 8. What happens when you try to "get into windows 2k"? 9. What printer are we talking about? Brand, model, etc.? 10. Why can't you take the trouble of using some punctuation, spelling, grammar and Capitalization - it'd make your post so much more readable. In short: READABLE DETAILS PLEASE! I should seriously save this rant somewhere, all you people make the same mistakes, and I'm getting sick of it.

The Jack Thompson Crusade
The point was that cornflakes don't make you shoot people up, nor do computer games, because, to use your words, those people are "batsh*tf'in-loco to begin with". Whether something is violent or not is beside the point. The people who would shoot people because they've done so in a computer game are the same people who think the coca cola commercial ('Holidays are coming, holidays are coming...') will come true if they can find enough magic pixie dust. Seriously. And even if you don't agree, according to American politicians it's perfectly alright if people buy a real gun and go to shoot on big cardboard plates that look like people, but doing so in a computer game, oooooh no, that must be horrificly bad, since it's so realistic when you play it on HD TV! Which is still the wrong way around if you ask me, but anyway...

Fun with google maps...
http://perljam.net/google-satellite-map ... __Airplane Close to Holland, above the sea. Gives a nice reflection ;) Oh, and this one: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en ... .86792&t=k It's just north of Holland, below the islands (which are still part of Holland, but anyway). Just thought that looked pretty cool. What you're seeing are sandbanks, which go dry at low tide. They might be frozen too (look at the island, which is frozen/snowed in at the sea side)

The Jack Thompson Crusade
Where does he do that? And wasn't that second line filled with pointless insinuations and insults? You want him to stop, but in order to do so you return the favour? They probably ate either bread or cornflakes for their breakfast every morning, so that's obviously a factor! And did I tell you all those highschool killers played baseball too! ... Just because people do A and then B doesn't mean A causes B. That's a silly thing to assume, especially since they're greatly outnumbered by the people who did A and never B. Wait a second... aren't computer games supposed to be fun? That's positive in my book... Also, telling me I have to 'admit' to everything you say is kind of making me sick. I'm able to make my own decisions, you know, unlike what you insinuated about AThousandLies (again totally unfounded) a few lines below. But we're getting ahead of ourselves, first things first... I've also been to funerals, does that make me see death as something less? You're using an entirely unfounded claim here to support a point that's simply disproven by reality. Way to go on the pointless insinuations and irrelevant insults! You're basically telling him here that he doesn't know what he's talking about and that he's just copying his parents. Let's, just for the moment, speculate and try to imagine what it would mean if this claim were true. So. His parents influence his political views. They might also influence his religious views, and his ideas of morality. That does NOT mean he's not able to make his own decisions. It's also totally wrong to compare the effects of being around several human beings all day to the effects of playing computer games several hours a day. Computer games don't talk, they can't argue with you, they're not intelligent, and you don't love them like you can love a person and your parents. Point being, your analogy here is just totally wrong. I'll believe you once you provide some good arguments.

Adblock
1 year ago Firefox 1.0 was already out, so lots of the more technical people on this forum already used it. So your first point is silly. Like Cameron said, Adblock leaks memory like a sieve, and there's so many flavours of it by now that I've lost count. It's ridiculous. Then there's the ethical matter of blocking any and all adverts. Some people actually need the money to run their site (eg, Tip it, though I'll be the first to admit that some of their ads suck and/or are invasive). Lastly, like rick said, I don't need adblock. I frankly haven't found a site that gets past Firefox 1.5's popup blocker, and I just read around everything else. Works great for me. Sites that have *really* bad adverts aren't worth visiting anyway.

I'm having trouble with Counter-Strike Source...
Awful help :). Post your specs please and make sure you uninstall and remove all HL2(Mods etc) files and then reinstall it. Per chance, what do you mean by awful help? I don't know what Jammy meant, but I think flashing his BIOS is a last-resort solution :\ I really don't see how flashing your BIOS is last-resort, I flashed my BIOS when I first got it so I had the newest version to ensure compatibility. But then again, I have Dual BIOS , which I guess means I have a backup BIOS as well, so I can just restore from that. Because just as well as ensuring compatibility, in some cases it may break compatibility as well, and returning to the old one is a hassle if your pc won't boot anymore? Mm?

Can anyone help me network my computers?
Are you sure you picked the right wizard, and chose the right options, then? There's an internet connection sharing wizard as well as a home network setup wizard :) (Start > Control Panel > Wizard Network Setup) (actual names may differ, my Windows is in Dutch...)

WARNING: NEW EXPLOIT
And we just had an announcement up on the relevant thread, 11 days after another admin had already posted the fact that the patch was out. Is it that hard to check sources? To actually read the post you quoted? Or the technet page it links? Geesh.

Can anyone help me network my computers?
I'm assuming at least one of the pc's runs Windows XP? In that case, you can use the network configuration wizard thing, and have that make cd-roms for older windows machines to autoconfigure them :)

What movie(s) did you last see?
I just saw Bin-Jip. It was really good, I can recommend it to anyone who likes a film with more in it than some lame jokes and a few good punches / shots to the head. Incidentally, it might be fun to note that the 2 main characters don't speak during most of the movie. One doesn't speak at all, the other says 3 lines in the entire movie (in no particular order): Breakfast is ready. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! I love you.

Integrated graphix and the amd 64 processors
I don't know about the reviews, but the Maths suck :D xpress 200 = 0.7 * x300SE x300SE = 1.1 * Radeon 9200 Radeon 9200 = 0.9 * Radeon 8500 Radeon 8500 = 1.4 * Radeon 7500Pro So: xpress 200 = 0.7 * 1.1 * 0.9 * 1.4 * Radeon 7500Pro = 0.9702 * Radeon 7500Pro So, it's about 3% slower than the original 7500 Pro. And yes, cumulative percentage taking sucks. Never just add them up, always multiply their numerical equivalents :)

Linux help.
What distro and what bootloader? Did you try and get help on more Linux-oriented forums?
