  1. It's plenty useful for getting in touch with old friends. As far as myspace goes, the only reason I really dislike it is for the reason Matt stated -- the pages are horrible. Seriously, you try and visit a page and get blared with the most obnoxious scene music imaginable, and let your eyes bleed to some crappy image tiled over the background with red hot letters for text. Ugh.

I actually haven't gotten that far into the Doom port. I'm still not sure if the .WAD I had was shareware or full. As far as the quake 1 WAD, I would recommend just looking for a torrent of it -- probably the easiest way. reminds me I need to get Hexen/heretic WAD's though.
  3. I've been wanting to make this thread for a bit, haven't thought how to start it. Anyways, I thought it would be a good thing to have a thread where we can talk about the latest NDS games coming out, but also a thread to help answer anyone curious about homebrew on the NDS. Homebrew: R4DS card: this is the bulk of what you need for homebrew. It allows you to put in a MicroSD card to play homebrew apps. The R4DS card is what I would recommend purely because it is entirely plug and play. You put the "OS" of sort on it and after that putting on new games and apps is as simple as putting the file on the card. NDS.DcEMU: is probably my favorite site for homebrew apps and games for the NDS. So, what can you do with this card? Well, I'll recommend a few apps for starters (and others can always add more here). SNemuDS: is a pretty strong SNES emulator for the DS. While it can't run all SNES roms it can play a decent majority of them well. Highlights are playing Zelda III perfectly and Super mario world. NesDS: is probably the best NES emulator. I actually have a full set of 1000 NES roms on my R4 card right now, and it hasn't had a problem with a single one so far. DSDoom: Don't have a link, but allows you to play Doom I or II on your DS. Controls quite well and well worth it. DukeNukem 3D DS: another awesome DS mod, allowing you to play Duke Nukem 3D. Only problem is control is a bit sloppy, but I don't know if they've fixed that or not. Colors: a fully functional paint program for the DS, taking advantage of the touch screen. Sensitivity works on it, so the harder you press down (within reason) the darker the mark you make. Actually pretty powerful and worth it. Plenty of other great homebrew out there but I won't list it all. Upcoming DS Games: Upcoming games to look forward to! Chrono Trigger DS: Seriously, no explanation needed. A CT remake for the DS. FF4DS: Another remake, but looks pretty damn solid to me. N+ DS: This game ruled my life during computer class my senior year of high school, and it's coming to the DS. NEW games: Some games worth mentioning and that I would recommend. Final Fantasy Tactics A2: I feel that, for once, the IGN review states it the best here - Daemon Hatfield misses the PlayStation iteration, but can't deny the addictive quality still present in the Advance series: "It would be nice to get another mature Tactics game like the original, but A2 won me over quickly with its beautiful visuals and deep, strategic gameplay. This is one of those desert island games you'd want with you if you were stranded with nothing to do." The game is incredibly deep. I'm only ~5 hours in or so so far and I haven't even scratched the surface. I highly recommend this to those who enjoyed FFTA. Space Invaders Extreme: While the idea sounds... bad, it's a seriously addictive game. It really runs with the idea of upgrading space invaders and does it in style 8-) . ---- So, what are you guys playing? What's your game collection look like? Oh and feel free to post wireless codes for games and all that good stuff too. I know we had a thread a while back for it, seems to have died though. My NDS Collection: Games: Yoshi Touch & Go WarioWare Touched! Super Mario 64 DS Bomberman Castlvania- Dawn of sorrow Tony Hawk's American SK8Land Mario and Luigi- Partners in time Age of Empires Metroid Prime hunters Brain Age Star Fox Command New Super mario Bros Yoshi Island DS Final Fantasy III Pokemon Diamond Sonic Rush adventure 1+2 Call of Duty 4 Ultimate Mortal Kombat Contra 4 Orcs and Elves Final Fantasy XII Advance Wars - Days of Ruin / Advance Wars - Dual strike Ninja Gaiden - Dragon sword The world ends with you Space Invaders Extreme Final Fantasy Tactics A2 Homebrew: DSDoom (Doom II) Duke Nukem 3D DS Colors DS Organize WinDS (useless lol) Emulators: SNemuDS: Zelda III Super Mario World Gradius (II?) Alladin ... Genesis Emulator: (forgot name) Sonic and Knuckles Earthworm Jim NESDS: All games. (1000+)
  4. If that's your excuse then every [bleep]ing genre sucks. Most metal sucks. Most rock sucks. A lot of music does suck.
  5. Myspace pages induce seizures. Other than that though they're fine. I have a facebook but I hardly ever use it.
  6. If you're asking on what to get for an upgrade I really don't think you should go through trying to upgrade the CPU and such in your laptop. But it's your laptop so do whatever you want.
  7. THIS is a site, and a card, that should ship to you. At least I know it ships to the UK. As far as memory something like THIS should work. Your motherboard uses the older DDR memory according to what I've found.

I'm amazed so many services have a "cap" on them. I have unlimited and I don't think I could live without it.
  9. . I'm listening to music at work right now. The person the works at the front desk (my office is near it) is loud and annoying as [bleep].

I haven't had to use dial up since like ~2002/2003 ish.
  12. Like blade said 64 bit Vista runs pretty much anything fine. No need blaming something that isn't the problem. My bets on your lag is just an issue down at Jagex's end.
  13. While the images and guide is compiled nicely, it's a bunch of bunk. There are so many other options you can do, that are much faster and easier, than reformating your entire drive. pro tip: download CCleaner. Cleans a lot of the bunk from your PC and doesn't need a reformat. Hell, between CCleaner / defragment drive / running anti-virus and spyware programs you should be just fine even on an aging machine.

I'm the eldest of three as well here. For a good while I wanna say I was spoiled, to an extent. Of course not near to the level some kids are these days, like when I wanted a new game console we usually ended up getting them near the end of their lifetime when they were cheaper. However I certainly did get what I want within reason. Christmas / Birthdays / ect. were all good excuses to spoil all three of us. I very much doubt I act spoiled though. I've had a lot of chances to get new things (new shoes, new phone) and I usually just turn the offer down until I need it. Plus now that I'm in college I, obviously, pay for what I need. However I'm still incredibly spoiled in the fact that my parents are paying for a good chunk of my tuition. I still have to pay some of it (and work during the summer to help pay it) but I won't have to end up taking out a huge loan, which I'm incredibly grateful for.
  15. My roomate made a guardian. @ 24 we're running him through Atzal's Approach.
  16. It's a little buggy but it should not be doing the above. I was playing fine earlier on my laptop with intergrated graphics. I would try to download the newest driver and make sure you have the latest Java. Java updates are a lot more important for the new detail mode than before. Alright :) . I just figured after seeing 5-6 threads that something was at least up. Never would think that a driver/java issue would do that though. :P
  17. My bet is they released it too early. Man talk about bugs. Of course you can try downloading drivers and all that.
  18. Heh man, that sucks. We've had so many power outages recently at my house and my DS has kept me sane I think. Downloaded FFTA2 (Final Fantasy tactics A2) and Space invaders extreme so have been having a blast with it. Oh and just so you guys know, the ENTIRE NES LIBRARY takes up roughly 230Mb. I now have and can play every NES game known to man (save for maybe really small homebrew ones) on my NDS.
  19. Speaking of this, does anyone remember looking for cheats pre-internet? I remember reading all sort of those "GameFAQ" like magazines. Or, hell, going to the mall or wal-mart of something and just scribbling down some of the cheats I wanted on a piece of paper. Cheaters have it easy now, back then we had to work for it. -.- Irony fully intended
  20. @ New people reading this thread having problems with RS HD* : It's a release so chances are it's going to be buggy, or at least the server is going to be in the [cabbage]ter. Please wait a few days at least before you start spamming threads about problems. *I find it kind of funny that it's now "high def". Hehe.

  22. 8800GT is better, but more expensive. Plus you could get an HD4850 for the 8800GT's price and it'd run a hell of a lot better. HD4850 == $180. Like I said before though, I'm not sure how good your CPU actually is, I don't know much about the Pentium D line.
  23. 300W PSU, you'll have to get at least a ~550W or so to run any somewhat modern video card thats any good.
  24. What is your PSU? I can look it up if you have the PC model (Like Dell XPS 510 or w/e) but if not just look at it in your case.
  25. Actually I remember doing this too. My mom used to be a teacher, so sometime's I'd be at that school. Of course pretty much all the cheats were bogus. However I told my little brother them anyways for him to try.
