Offical Age of Conan thread
Nice. My ToS is at 493/180 or so right now. I've been doing a ton of group PvP ( 6v6 ) in leveling areas and have been trying to take on really difficult Pvp matches so I've died a good bit. Still I'm pretty happy about it. Also, there is a new patching schedule to where we will have 1, larger, patch on Wensdays. With the inclusion of the new test server we should see much more concise and complete patch notes and much much less bugs getting introduced into the game. PvP Review: Speaking of PvP, I've experienced a ton of real group PvP the past few days. See, a lot of the "major" leveling spots (grant the best XP) are fairly small in size. What this means is that, while there are multiple instances, chances are you're going to have to fight for a spot. However the fun ramps up when you realize that people would be crazy to do this place with no less than 4 or 5 players. Generally a full group, 6 players, comes here. Because of this I have gotten the most 6v6 group PvP in any game I have ever played. Hell man, I don't even think in a battleground in WoW groups were this determained. Unlike some group PvP that happens in WoW, often by an instance stone, it usually ends with the "losing group" running into the instance like a bunch of [kitties]. There is no, absolutly no, recoil or consequence for them to lose control of the meeting stone and as such the PvP suffers. However in Conan you're looking at a situation where, if your group doesn't go, you're going to have to find some solo quests or (if they're all exhausted) solo grind. Because of this PvP gets really damn intense and players are generally at the top of their game. And really, Age of Conan serves its self very well for group PvP. The idea to make almost all of the healing in the game HoT based, save for a few big heal CD's, really makes the game that much better. And, unlike some games, the PvP encounters take some real group dynamic and skill. The key, of course, is learning what to focus on. While usually most will focus on the healer because of the HoT idea in this game players may be better off bursting a high DPS, low def, target. Of course this all depends on so many factors, it's silly to put it down to one simple procedure. Conan does a very good job of making sure that "team X" doesn't have a skill set that will demolish "team Y" and it really does reward thinking a bit outside of the box for groups. While the general healer/DPS/CC or whatever combo does work well, there is no reason why other team matchups won't work as well. Likewise, as I said before, skill is a huge factor. The other night I was PvPing with 3 other guildies, a 40 PoM , 66 Conq, 74 barb and me, a 69 ToS. We were all apped up to level 73 from the barb, so our damage output was (obviously) higher. However the funny thing is that, especially the level 40, your HP really does not go up much at all. So we're PvPing with a squishy PoM, who does not have near all of his utility yet, and a 66 conq. We go up against another full group of players who had a healer who was ~50 apped up to 74. Well, all the rest of them were 75 and we managed to win. Yeah, 4v6 and we had 2 lowbies. Hell, I was fairly low as well -- missing out on some key skills @70. Skill really helped us edge out the fight, and reactions had something to do with it too I think. I really do shudder to think that, if 6v6 is this much fun, what 48v48 will be like. Or, say in the future, what 100v100 may be like. And, yes, Funcom has stated that there will be Alliance sieges in the game with a much larger cap. Really if Funcom just gets the game optimized more to suit a 48v48 encounter PvP will be [bleep]ing golden here. ---- Anyways, I'm like 7 bars away from level 70. Somehow managed to get 60-69 in a [bleep]ing weekend (with sat having power out from like 8pm to the next morning). Funny thing is I spent a lot of time helping out guildies and doing other stuff (playing Rock Band a lot with brother/sister)

C++ and java are both programming languages. C++ is usually used in larger programs, as it's probably one of the "main" languages that most companies use today to create games and programs. Java is actually what Runescape was coded in, and it's more suited for that kind of game. You know, fairly basic stuff although I'm not really that familiar with Java. That being said I'm not sure what language you should do first, maybe read up a bit on them and find out which you like.

Addiction
Key word there is "feels". :P Why not, instead, browse TIF while (as I said before) learning some various stuff like programming? Hell, maybe just get into some better games. Even if it is a better game it probably won't be near as addictive as runescape is and will at least help stimulate your mind a bit more than repetitive clicking. The idea is to balance your time. Also, it's really only addiction if you feel the need to do it, I.E you give up hanging out with your friends to play computer or something. Sometimes you are just stuck in a boring situation without anything to do, much like how a lot of my summer is.

I have to agree. Normally I wouldn't say the same about other games, or even MMOs (although MMOs do tend to cater to those with addictive personalities) but Runescape really is built from the ground up on being addictive. The entire idea of the game is simply to get better stats. There is no "high end raiding" to prove your skill. PvP in the game, if it's a suprise, is entirely based off of what stats you have and pretty much nothing at all to do with how you are as a player. Likewise there really is no lore in the game save for silly quests. When I said 'quit runescape" earlier I really did half-way mean it. I mean, hell, I almost can bet you that half of the time you're playing that game you're browsing the web or something else more fun. Then you'll have more time to do productive stuff. :P

Music genres you Can't stand?[flame war=ban]
Stereotypes exist for a reason, you know. Although a lot of the hatred towards rap is of the bandwagon nature to dismiss it would be ill-advised. Yeah, they exist because people are too lazy to look outside the bounds of what's on the radio or what is popular.

Quit runescape. :) Seriously though do whatever interests you. I don't know how someone could play a little java game for that long, but whatever. If programming or web design is in interest to you there are tons of free resources and programs out there on the net. (I recomend Notpad++) Also, I myself am on the PC for a good amount of time this summer (not counting my full time job doing web design). Since I'm at my parents house I really don't know anyone where they live, since I graduated high school somewhere else. But still I spend time doing other stuff as well (learning 3D modeling atm). Just trying to say that it's not a bad thing if you're on the PC a lot, just make good use of it. If you're bored I find being on the PC much better for you then just mindlessly watching TV.

So I need a new computer...
If you're going to spend another $50 or so get an ATI 4850 or w/e the card is. $200 and it blows even the 9800GT out of the water.

What? I don't understand what you mean. Edit: Oh I see it now. Nadril, that game is turning you into an idiot. Seriously, it's just a joke. You don't have to get defensive. :? Also that "who's playing" list was incredibly inaccurate and outdated.

Building it custom or from a manufacturer?

$15 a month. Once you do the friends list right click on their name (after they whisper you) and click add.

Neither. You should have 3g by like 57 or so. Oh and [Trader]'s are the bank/AH.

"A gaming computer"
Yeah, a few questions: (1) what's your budget, or a general idea on how much you wanna spend? (2) what games are you playing? (3) Do you want to try and "future proof" it? Really just post a general idea of what you want and most of us would be glad to help you out. As far as estimates go, I would say a decent gaming machine would run you about $800 with an OS and no monitor. You can save even more money if you reuse parts, such as a hard drive or CD drive and such. The good news is that with the new 4000 series by ATI now is actually a really good time to buy a computer. If you look at games in the future they aren't increasing nearly as much as specs used to in the patch. You could easily get a machine that could play all of todays games, and be good for the future, for like $900 with a 4000 series card in it.

45-51 there aren't many options. You could try troidbarch's tomb in Field of the dead, but the last boss might prove to be a [bleep]. Once you guys get up a little higher as well you can always choose to grind at cannibal caves normal or epic. Yeah taking your time is the way to go. You'll end up a lot better then the guys who power level themselves.

Coke vs Pepsi
the diet soda is a lot worse for you though then the normal. I'd say I'm more of a fan of coke, but I'll drink both.

Fun. Definitly take your time playing the game, enjoy PvP and all of that. A lot of the people who are disatisfied with the game are those who rushed to 80 and then QQ about no content. hehe. Apparently they found my little comment on the first page of that thread. :P Anyways my ToS is level 66 almost 67 atm. Been helping out level two friends, a lvl 35 and a lvl 57. All 3 of us (all of us are healers) just went to Aztal's Approach and I started AoEing mobs with them under apprentice. Well in like an hour and a half the lvl 35 PoM got up to 40 and the lvl 57 BS got like near 59. I also got nearly a level during the entire thing.

Work secrets
I do web design for my summer job, so I don't really have any "secrets". I mean, sure, I probably could [bleep] up something huge if I wanted to but why. I'm inclined to agree. Chances are (I know there are [wagon] out there, but still) if the person is angry or impatient it's probably your fault. And anyways if they are acting like a [bleep] just suck it up, it's part of the job sadly.

Post pictures of your video game collection!
I'd show a picture, but almost all my games are in some sort of digital format now. I don't really have a specific place for all my games, and I don't have that many 360 games.

Blizzrds WWI announcment, what is it? DIABLO 3 ANNOUNCED!
I can't express how happy I am that they are sticking to the original idea, not making it into a crappy MMO or something. Man, I'm so excited -- the class abilities look great. Plus, the game has an actual physics engine. =P~

Timesplitters had custom maps. Also there were a few Unreal Tourny's on consoles which were pretty good.
