  1. I saw a newbie in lumbridge today. He asked for directions to Camelot. I wanted to tell him how to go there, starting from, say, Falador. So I asked him "Do you know where Falador is"? That must have looked really weird, a lvl 102 asking where falador is...
  2. Fighting them has to be worthless. Think about it. If they had great drops, well-prepared people would be fighting them all the time, thereby preventing them from attacking rune miners and treasure trail hunters, and thus destroying the goal of making the wilderness dangerous.
  3. I met a revenant pyrefiend in high level wild. It froze me. I put my magic protect prayer on and just walked away. It didn't even follow me. :D
  4. Ah, that's probably it! thank you.
  5. I made some extra-strong antipoison today (coconut milk, toadflax and yew roots). The empty coconut shells sell instantly on the grand exchange. Why would anyone want to buy those? Is there a use for these things?
  6. also, you can't use evil stew to get 61 crafting for the quest. Lokar won't even speak to you if you try this.
  7. Not being a native speaker of English, I was somewhat surprised to learn that "damn" was blocked by the rs chat filter. Is it really that offensive?
  8. I think either they didn't foresee the excesses of the rare market, or they deliberately made tradeable rares early on (knowing their price would raise exponentially), so that new players could have difficult goals beyond skill levels and quests. I would guess they just didn't foresee it, though.
  9. Bedsheet -inn- (Ghost Ahoy Quest) - Be aware that you can only wear it in port phasmatys. Thus "being in port phasmatys" might count as a requirement.
  10. Well, the obvious answer would be that player-killing in the wilderness is an evil act wich is not against the rules. However, in quests, the options are indeed severely limited. Do you knwo, for example, what happens when you try to add a draynor manor cabbage to the invincibility potion of the black knights? It says "you can't do this because you must destroy the witch, not help her" or something to that effect.
  11. And all these sleeping bags disappeared when this "fatigue" thingie was stopped. Too bad, because I collected thousands of them, hoping they would become a rare item...
  12. Overall, I think this is a very good update. The ability to browse offers would be great, but I suspect there is a good reason to not do this. The 5% rule, while it may seem unnecessarily restrictive to some, will ensure more-or-less stable prices, once the prices have converged. If the allowed deviation were greater, the convergence would occur faster, but the prices reached would be less stable. People complaining about "the USSR" or "capitalism" are well out of their reach. Many modern, first-world countries have similiar systems to prevent prices changing too fast.
  13. Hi all, My current fletching level is 70. Using the "manage your kingdom" minigame, I obtained 47000 maple logs, enough to get 85 fletching. What should I do? Get 85 fletching, or sell the maple logs? Is there something I can do with 47000 unstrung maple longbows?
  14. And this is what they should not have done. The strategy of optimizing characters for a specific feature of the game may be highly successful for a while, but once JaGeX sees that this feature is heavily overused for purposes it was not meant for (e.g. tradeable rares, pest control, certain weapons/armour usable by people without the needed attack/strength/defense levels ...), they may change and/or disable the feature, rendering these characters worthless. Did the stakers really think the duel area was intended as an effective way of money-making, rather than as a way to have some fun fights? My advice? Make a well-rounded character. Enjoy the whole game, not just a specific aspect of it. P.S. I do not wish to get caught in a flame war, so I will not post anything more on the subject. And yes, I know about "emergent gameplay". P.P.S. In RSC, people could duel everywhere. The loser was teleported to Lumbridge, like with a normal death, but without losing non-staked items. This was "abused" (well, not used as intended) to provide free lumbridge teleports, by simply duelling without staking anything. The duel area prevented this, but a while later, the free "lumbridge home port" spell was introduced. Times change. Get used to it.
  15. No. The writings from the moon clan on Lunar isle make it clear that magic is always the result from some special power from the wizard, and that the runes merely help you focusing this power. Furthermore , they (the moon clan, but also the mahjarrat and human wizards) can do magic without runes.
  16. This is in fact a pet peeve of mine. In runescape, magic is a simple, reliable skill wich can be learned by everyone. Yet, this is very inconsistent with the NPC's attitudes towards magic. Examples : - in the tower of life quest, magic is supposed to be mysterious and incomprehensible, and in a sense opposed to logic. Crafting and firemaking are supposed to be "normal" and "logical", even though there's hardly a fundamental difference. They are all easy, reliable skills anyone can learn. - wizards (and, especially, the moon clan and the mahjarrat) are supposed to be able to cast magic without runes. Yet, these options are entirely closed to players (yes, I know casting without runes would upset the combat triangle, but I'm sure there's a way to solve that). - there is supposed to be a connection between magic and race (e.g. "gnomish magic", wich is presumably simple and somewhat illusion-based, and "elfish magic", wich is supposed to be crystal-based). This is not further explored, and the spellbooks have hardly any connection to race (the moon clan are still humans, and apparently there is no problem for a human to learn mahjarrat spells). - wizards (the mad inventor wizard in ardougne, the gnome wizard in his peninsulla, even the goblin wizard in dorgesh-khaan, the wizards in the magic towers) can do lots of cool stuff that players have no access to, they are not even given the option to attempt to become a wizard.
  17. I went to the wizard's tower and wasn't sure wether the wizards were players or NPCs. :wall: In my defense, that was on my first day playing, in rsc.
  18. And you didn't even need to know the value of Pi to solve it.
  19. There are only 4^3 = 64 possibilities to try. Furthermore, Oldak said I could try this.
  20. I would advice against this. Killing chaos druids is much faster* , and if you have the agility level to go to Salarin the twisted, that's probably your best choice. * This was true before the PC change. I haven't tried to get herb packs from PC since then. Maybe they changed it?
  21. May I speculate that bringing all parts of the wizard's body to the guild could be the "tears of guthix"-like minigame? I.e. maybe you can do that once weekly and get rewards for it?
  22. You can climb up a certain vine, starting from outside the village.
  23. It's a quest with good rewards. Quests, especially those with good rewards, are fun.
