  1. The worst thing is they're following right after a National tragedy with the Virgina students... The day after one of the schools in my school district (not ours thankfully), a group of four students was arrested for possessing firearms AND ammunition. I think it's stupid how people are, whether or not they planned on using it causing panic for no reason but to be "funny" is ridiculous. I'm glad nothing serious has happened at your school though, you never know... ~ Steven
  2. Originallly you would have to buy them for 100k but I don't know how stable the prices have become. I think they're probably around 70k now because dragonstones still haven't gone down completely. Personally I'd recommend a skills necklace or amulet of glory but if you want the combat bracelet it's good too. ~ Steven
  3. There's lots of attacking and very little actual information being talked about. Yes it takes longer using the Windows unzip utility, however if you install a program that does it, it runs faster. Nobody knows for sure why, but that's just how it goes. The system itself is NOT six times slower, but unzipping files can be. Most times the system runs FASTER, unless your drivers aren't completely opitimized for Vista. If that's the case, it's your fault for not looking into it. Also, don't offer to install a program if you don't even know how to use the operating system. Those messages CAN be disabled if you feel you know what you're doing, but there are computer users who do act like five year old children and Microsoft gets blamed for their computers getting ruined. Why do you think everyone complains about Microsoft's lack of security? You know how almost all of those exploits and viruses come from? People downloading files and installing programs they aren't sure about. But Microsoft gets blamed. Also, most people are too lazy and cheap to buy a firewall, and if you look into all the topics about Microsoft's firewall it's biggest complaint was that it only blocked incoming. So they make it both ways and you're still complaining. That's not Microsoft's fault either. Vista hasn't been a RAM hog for as far as I have seen, yet many programs (such as explorer) increase exponentially their memory usage in Windows XP. Granted you can always end it, which I do, but it will always keep coming back. That problem hasn't yet occured in Vista. ~ Steven
  4. If you're willing to completely blow your money (or at least for a while) I'd do Mage Training Arena. I know you can't do high alch yet, but using alchemist playground should still give you xp pretty fast until you get to 55 when you can use high alch (and get TONS of experience fast). I didn't believe it until I tried and leveled mage three levels (55-58) in maybe an hour and a half two hours starting out. I'm sure if I was better experienced I could cut the time down even more. Tip.it has an amazing guide that would help you out a lot. ~ Steven
  5. One report won't cause him to get banned unless it's blatantly obvious. Jagex might keep an eye on him and if he gets more then of course they'll ban him, but if that's the case, he probably is trying to do real life trading. I'm glad they're finally starting to crack down on it. ~ Steven
  6. Except that mods can't ban (only silence so they can't speak for 48 hours). Also, any member can use the report button and it would show what the mod said, and the mod would get in trouble. And the mod would do the same thing to himself if he hit the report button ~ Steven
  7. It all depends who's selling to really determine the cost. To say that cosmics are 200 is a bit excessive, I normally see them for 150. But cosmics take less time to make (especially if you have high agility) and only give you a slight bit less experience so I'd use that to level up. If you do use chaos however, the altar is close to edgeville so you could get to a bank pretty quickly. ~ Steven
  8. I believe I've seen something similar but for P2P only... and while I agree I think it would be better to do an online database where you can search for what you want to buy and choose the best offer. Runescape could also automatically deduct cash and move item over to help prevent scams (though this might be hard to do). While it's a great idea, I have a hard time believing that it will be implemented anytime soon. ~ Steven
  9. It mostly depends on how you do it really. There are a lot of good guides on the abyss so I won't spend a lot of time on it, but it is the most common method of doing it. There's a plus side and minus side to your level. Not many people within your range PK RCers (at least from my experience), so you don't have to worry about getting PKed as much. However, you have low health and defence and while the abyss monsters don't hit high, there's enough of them that can seriously kill if you fail a few times trying to get through. If you do choose this, I'd recommend an abyss bracelet (to keep from getting skulled), at least 6 glory amulets (to tele to edgeville and have enough to do 24 rounds before recharging glories), a mith pickaxe (its that or agility that is close that you need to pass), and anything that can reduce weight, allowing you to run longer (boots of lightness, spotty cape etc). Somehow I forgot to mention to use pouches (preferably small and medium pouch). If you don't wish to take the risk, another alternative is to go from shilo bank and just run over to the nature altar. This will require you to have the tiara or talisman, but is also considered the safest (though most time consuming as well). Though I don't think you've done shilo village quest yet based on your level so this probably isn't an option for you. There's another one I believe with teleing to Al Kharid and catching the transport to Karamja then walking and teleing back to Al Kharid etc, which might work as well for you (but requires that you've done tree gnome stronghold) ~ Steven
  10. I'm a relatively new member, and so far the best member skill I enjoy leveling and find the best use for is slayer. Not just because of the good drops, but because it also levels my combat stats which are definitely in need of improving (73). My goal is to someday reach 85 slayer, however I don't feel I'll be able to be dedicated that long to get 85. So I was planning on stopping at 75 so I can kill gargoyles. Does anyone have a possible estimate of a time length to go from lvl 45 slayer to 75? And while on the subject, does anyone have any good ideas for inventories to use while leveling slayer? Thanks so much in advance ~ Steven
  11. Actuall your profit will only be about 20 gp because it costs money to tan the dragon hides... but still not a bad way ~ Steven
  12. I've only caught 300 swordfish and got one at about 125 but I'm sure you've caught more so I may have just been lucky. If only they were tradeable I'd trade you mine. ~ Steven
  13. Like people have stated that's their money in stocks mostly... they personally don't have a lot of cash. And to be 654 on top 1000 in Britain and Ireland isn't exactly amazing. Granted none of us will ever reach that milestone, but people like Donald Trump are worth billions. ~ Steven
  14. It all depends whether or not you actually plan on getting the arrows. If you do, you'll lose about 30% (I believe they say on average it's 25% but I seem to lose 30% so I'd plan on that). You need 47k xp in order to get to 53 (which is inbetween your two targets) so divide that by four (each hit gives 4 xp unless you use long range) and get 11700. Divide that by 3 (your average hit per arrow) and get 3900. Then multiply that by .3 (30% arrows youll lose) and you'll lose about 1.1k arrows. So assuming I did everything right, I'd say make sure you have about 1.5k arrows. Now if you don't pick it up you'll lose about 4k so I'd have about 6k ~ Steven
  15. Some of the videos I've seen are just simple digital cameras that are focused on the computer. I haven't really payed much attention (not a huge fan of PKing, especially on Runescape) so there could be an actual software alternative that I'm not aware of. But if you really want to I'd just record using my camera. ~ Steven
  16. I support the idea of elemental swords, but I can't say I support the idea of allowing free players to use it. It's not that I don't like free players, it's just that if they get it, it's stats couldn't be much better than rune and that would make the whole idea of elemental swords useless. Also, to help limit how many swords go into production, you should have to use the talisman on the altar and it will get destroyed, and you must also be able to craft runes at that altar. I'll have to think about it some more and add more to it, but I definitely support it. ~ Steven
  17. Tailoring should not be a skill by itself, but perhaps could become part of the crafting skill. Or the makeover mage should be allowed to let you customize your characters outfit seeing as it can change you from a guy to a girl, I think it can change the color of your clothes. But I was actually thinking about this the other day because my outfit looks ridiculous so I definitely support. ~ Steven
  18. Yeah Saradomin strike is a really strong lightning spell. I was doing a level 3 clue scroll yesterday (my first one) and I got a coordinate scroll in the desert and was attacked by a "Saradomin follower" needless to say, I learned the hard way that it hits high. ~ Steven
  19. The gnome course obviously works but can get very repetitive... so if you enjoy doing the mouse trick more then I'd try that. Though I've learned agility is best done with friends to help prevent the boredom ~ Steven
  20. I believe the code changes, you just have to look at the map and see which ones you need to switch. The levers are still labeled right and the map tells you what each lever does. So just keep doing it till you get the picture in the quest guide and it will work just fine. ~ Steven
  21. Umm... he's only looking for things worth high alching. But if you can make yew longs they're by far the best in terms of money making. Steel Plates still cost more to make than you'll get so I wouldn't recommend it. And if you don't mind losing a slight bit of money, buy yew longs (u) for 350 and then alch them for 385. You'll make 35 but still lose about 300 because of the cost of natures but it's really the best way to do it. ~ Steven
  22. No, this is a horrible idea. People would create lists of people who they've PKed and pass them on to others, and then those people would be stalked and killed multiple times. Plus people will love to rub it in the faces of those they've killed even though they killed someone with absolutely no weapons or armour, it'd just be annoying. Bad idea unless you're a PKer. ~ Steven
  23. Yes that's kind of a big problem. Either that or maybe it will automatically choose one to be your default when doing it, say maybe you'll talk to the magic guild guy to start the quest so whenever you use the portal it will take you by the magic guild. I'm not sure but I really don't see much of a use for it because even in varrock it doesn't take that long, and if you can get in magic guild it takes no time at all. ~ Steven
  24. We read Dracula in my futuristic lit class and we had to choose a theme to write our paper on so I chose East Vs West because I thought it was the second most pronounced theme outside good vs evil (and everybody's doing good vs evil so if I don't do good, he'll be able to tell more :D ). Anyways, i'm having trouble finding some good resources to help base my report on. Google who has never let me down hasn't really yielded any great information on the differences between eastern and western Europe, and if it does it either a) takes place post WWII (after Dracula was written, so not valuable) or B) makes it too broad and includes Americas etc etc. When he was reviewing some of the main concepts he talked about how the Eastern world was extremely superstitious (as can easily be identified in the book) compared to the much more fact based western world (because no matter how strange things were, Jonathon could not believe that Count Dracula was a vampire). Anyways, any resources will be greatly appreciated as well as opinions if you have any. ~ Steven
  25. I haven't made it to 45 (only level 31) but I've already spent 275k on it and to be quite honest, it isn't much to look at. I got to the point though that it's quicker and cheaper to constantly tear down oak furniture and just rebuild it. I wouldn't buy bolts of cloth because they can add a lot to your cost (unless you're actually looking to make an appealing house, then I'd wait till you're close to completing your goal). My main advice is to try and do quests that give experience to crafting to help you out a bit ~ Steven
