3rd Age/Spirit shields/Phats Discussion
You're around a day late, they were selling max GE till people finally realised it was trash Yeah, when I first saw that they were increasing the rates of mint rewards I thought, 'OK maybe 1 every delivery, that will drop the street but not below a few M' So I stuck an offer in the GE for a bunch thinking I could snag some for a few M profit. As soon as I saw that pic on Page100 of getting 10 in 1 trip I knew it was a legit nerf and quickly removed my offer. Have any rares been effected in price because of this? It stands to reason that people will start moving their GP into other items IE: rares. I haven't many sources but apparently people just moved to manip items and chef's delight (m4) which isn't tied to other doses like most potions I fear this is a poor choice. Players might start mass-producing chef's delight (m4). (I've considered it myself.) Also Jagex could simply change the GE pricing so that its price works in lockstep with other dosages. But your referring to this as "manipulation" suggests that you might not understand what was going on with mints. Their demand increased mostly because they were adopted as an ad hoc form of currency that was needed to trade items that cannot be traded on the GE because their stated gp price is so far off. They became the anti-junk. The problem wasn't manipulation. If there was a problem, it was in the flawed Jagex trading system that made a form of currency such as mints necessary.

**New Quest - Rune Mechanics**
The quest cape is headed toward becoming the most exclusive cape in the game. At some point, it might make sense to have an emote that unlocks on the way to the cape. That would give people an intermediate goal. Right now, for a new player setting out to earn the quest cape, the goal is a long way off. Imagine what it will be like when there are 500 qp to be earned.

**New Quest - Rune Mechanics**
If they wanted to do anything with QP, they might do something like the air guitar e-mote for 300. Problem with that is that there is almost a complete overlap between total QP and music unlocked, so an emote for QP would be largely duplicative. They could, though, add a QP emote at 300, which would be harder to get than the present music emote. In that way, it wouldn't be totally duplicative.

**New Quest - Rune Mechanics**
Well i've always, always! Expected a certain amount of quest points to be special, 150, 200, 250, and now 300. I'm just hoping that one day we'll see a quest released which is extremely difficult and will lead to a new quest guild, I personally think it could work. And it would be nice to have something higher than being a Legend  Have any quest point levels ever been special?

Ring of Wealth
Good info about the Gorak. Haven't had that assignment for a while -- I need to see if I have them blocked. Or maybe Kuradel doesn't assign them? More on topic: As I was fighting Dusties last night (using zerker ring), it dawned on me that the ring really wasn't helping me much, if at all. I was two hitting them much of the time. But the zerker wouldn't let me one hit them. So for quick kill monsters, the zerker doesn't help that much. It helps most on monsters that you have to hack away on. So I'm switching to RoW on all easy monsters. Off topic: Earlier I tried to post and found that I had to wait 45 seconds. Is this new, or has it always been this way, or is one of the idiot mods mad at me for some reason?

Personally, I would try to snag a sigil.

Ring of Wealth
Good to now know how to use this thing since it is just about the opposite of what I had been doing. For slayer assignments that are quick kills with some decent drops but no blockbuster drop, this thing would help. It would be nice to eliminate those "no drop" kills. And those can add up over a 200+ slayer assignment. Of course, some people leave almost all the drops on the ground, and the RoW makes no sense there. But if you're like me and pretty much pick up everything worth over 1k, then RoW makes sense sometimes. I won't use it, though, for the monsters with one big drop, e.g., abby demons. I'd rather get a few more kills there since I'm really killing only for the big drop anyway, and RoW doesn't help with that. That's my new approach anyway.

Mjolnir
This is exactly right. And they do a lot of damage every time they nerf something. Some people had hundreds of mint cakes. They weren't doing anything wrong and didn't break any rules, and Jagex screwed them for hundreds of millions. Some people will quit over this, and I'm not just talking about newbs. Jagex needs to fix the problem instead of constantly treating the symptoms.

Mjolnir
I can't figure out the mature chef's delight thing -- it is pretty easy to make. On the other hand, it takes a long time, and it is really boring -- so maybe. Would it be easy for Jagex to nerf? That's the problem with the gout tuber. If Jagex can nerf the cake, they can just as easily nerf the tuber. I don't think we want the "next mint" since mint failed. We want the new, improved, harder to nerf mint.

Mjolnir
Who chooses the hook over the experience though? That is also why I doubt they would be used to junk trade in large numbers, as there is simply not enough of them but they will always have value because of that fact. maybe maybe not. If they were made to be the new mint cake i could see them having a street price of 20mil while ge price of 1.5m (or w/e its at). Still works like a mint cake. Put up a Hook and 19mil worth of junk and get 20mil cash back from it. Hell if people accept this as the new junk currency this would be BETTER then a mint cake. With no forseeable jagex nerfs The thing is, like I said in the post you replied to, is that there just isn't enough hooks to be used widely as a second currency, I still expect them to rise and always be valueable, but I do not think they would be used widely. Perhaps we're jumping ahead a bit in speculating what the next mint cake might be. Maybe we should develop a list of its characteristics and then see what fits? It seems to me that it has to be: 1) quite hard to get 2) not nerfable by jagex (people won't be up for doing the mint cake thing again) 3) relatively low in price (which probably means it's not all that useful) The hard one is #2. E.g., what's to stop Jagex from making the mjolnir buyable in a shop? It's got to be something where there would be blood in the streets if Jagex nerfed it. (This is why they'll never nerf edible rares.)

To be more precise, they were used as currency because they were rare. IRL, that's why gold's a form of universal currency -- it's rare. And that's why gp's not a good currency in Runescape -- the 76k/26k trick has made it too common. Jagex has ruined mints as a currency (since they are no longer rare), but they have not solved the fundamental problems.

I wonder why people still are buying mints?

29-Jan-2010 - Clan Blog and Clan Celebration Month
What is the year of the individual? They're not having one. People were designed to exist in community, not in isolation. Those who isolate themselves become selfish, bitter, cynical and almost impossible for others to tolerate. Oh . . . uh . . . never mind. (Awkward.) Ugh. I'd respond, but it would be lost on a collectivist such as yourself. So... uh... nevermind. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.

What Do You Think Will Happen?
They're going up because of Nomad's Requiem. I'd sell a few at a time each day at max. As soon as they stop selling instantly at max, I'd sell all the rest.

Bullroarers in the GE
I wouldn't mind if they silenced it in the ge, but I'd hate to think they'd silence it altogether. I love old quest items that can be used after the quest. When I have reason to be in port phantasmys, I frequently wear my glowing sheet. I also wear the octopus hat from the latest penguin quest. They went to all the trouble to make those quest items -- I'm glad we can still use them (even though they're really starting to clog up my bank).

Fun Quest Items
The topic on the bull roarer made me think of this. Several times while cleaning out my bank I have been tempted to ditch the bull roarer, but it's still there. It has no practical use, but I keep it. You know what , there's a lot of junk in my bank like that. I still have the glowing sheet that you can wear around port phantasmys. I also have the octopus hat from the latest penguin quest. Which quest items (not rewards) do you enjoy using long after the quest is done?

Edible owners get to decide what the currency will be. They appear to have chosen mints.

3rd Age/Spirit shields/Phats Discussion
Lol. Edibles and mints are the currency used to buy phats. If you can buy phats now for fewer mints and edibles (and you can), then that means phats are dropping. As I said before, you are right that you still can't buy partyhats for pure gp -- gp have for months been amongst the worst crashing junk in the game. Like I said, it will be a while before partyhats can be bought for gp. When that happens, edibles will crash, too. But having said all of that, it's easier to get a partyhat today than it was two months ago. I had a guy offer me a red today for one egg and "about" seventy mint. That was his opening demand. Seemed a lot lower to me than what I would have seen not all that long ago.

Edibles are like mints (which, interestingly, also is edible). They're used as currency to trade for above-market (ge) items. If there's nothing trading on the stree for above the ge price, then there is no need for these alternative forms of currency (or for junk trading). As go partyhats, so will go edibles. But you won't see edibles crash completely until you see ALL of the partyhats trading in the GE. I'd say we're a ways away from that. On the other hand, the street price of all partyhats seems to be dropping. The only thing that continues to shoot up in street price is mints. They're well over 10m now.

Ancient Curses: Sap and Leech
You talk of using leech defense instead of bgs. Wouldn't it be better to use both?
-
11-Jan-2010 - Nomads Requiem
Or maybe the bgs is just that important? Seems to me this fight basically is a race -- can you do enough damage to him before you run out of healing? If the bgs spec knocks his defense down enough so that you do a lot more damage, this could make all the difference in the world.

11-Jan-2010 - Nomads Requiem
Since his attacks are mage based, arma seems like a really good idea, but I would like a clarification before I start experimenting myself. When he goes into "zerker" mode, does he switch to "true melee," or is it still mage-based melee? True melee would crush me wearing arma.

I do not agree that masks are oversold. They were overbought. Someone tried to buy them out and ended up driving them up to ridiculous heights. But there are too many masks out there to sustain that kind of buyout. They had to crash, and they did. Now they're near a reasonable level. Santa still is the better buy right here though.
