I agree with you on partyhats, but not halloween masks -- they definitely look cool, IMO.

Again, I think your reaction to these quests would be different if you tried one without knowing absolutely everything about it in advance.

Santas moved up a little. Red masks appear to be bought out. Ironically, that's not really good from an investment perspective -- the price moves more slowly when an item is bought out. So I'm liquidating my reds and buying more santas and greens.

The question on the quest cape is whether the number lost to people who fail to keep it up is higher or lower than the number of new people getting the cape. It would be interesting to know how many there are.

I wish Jagex would tell us how many wearable quest capes there are at any given time. I'll bet that number is getting smaller and smaller.

Not that big. In fact, I sold my blue masks after the last price move, and I'm buying santas right now. They're cheaper than blue masks, which means "buy" to me.

THIS POST IS REGARDING SANTA HATS Hi, first time posting on the i guess called merching thread but i currently have 2 santa hats i think i bought around 31.5 or 31mil and i have about a 76mil bank (total price) as of right now at this posting time the ge beta says that santas have changed 0gp in the last day or since the last update. Im currently non members even though i am a p2per and currently santas take up over 50% of my total bank worth. My question is i guess when would you sell or at what price do you think they would dump at *use some inside sources :)* but anyways its getting to that time of the year and this is my first near holiday merch attempt. i know that on x mas as well as after it the price should plummet so i wont hold that long but there are 14 days left so i need advice. also there are rumors going around that chessy (mercher) is hoarding over 1k santas and that she could crash price at any time should i be concerned about this? I would never want to have such a high percentage of my bank tied up in one thing. i suppose so i just hope i dont lose money by selling early im trying to make up the 13mil i lost when my rares crashed over night *red and green mask + santa* Well the small rares do tend to move together, but I think the santa has more risk right now. I wouldn't keep my wealth in cash, though -- you're sure to lose wealth that way. Why not sell one santa for as much as you can, use the proceeds to buy a blue halloween mask (which is due for a price rise -- I bought five today at or near max) and then try to sell the other santa?

Not necessarily. If it were not for the "of the fight caves" laguage, it would be possible to interpret her as broadening the task rather than shifting it. In other words, perhaps the volcano is filled with lots of different kinds of "volcanic creatures," and she proposes an assignment of only one type -- tzhaar, but then she thinks of expanding it to cover another type as well. In this way, changing from "kill 84 tzhaar" to "kill 280 volcanic creatures" is consistent with the idea of simultaneously increasing and broadening the assignment.

Really? You don't? Maybe I'm too cynical, but I can imagine those who were voting for the suit simultaneously running around buying up the hats. This much is certain, the hat roughly doubled in price at that time, hitting an all-time high. (It later fell back but since has rebounded to eclipse even the suit-induced high.)

No, the dialogue clearly states that, at first, she asks you to kill TzHaar, but, when you extend your task, she asks you to kill Volcanic Creatures. So, TzHaar = Monsters in TzHaar City Volcanic Creatures = Monster in the Fight Caves But did people earlier on this thread not say that when on thzaar task the how many left dialogue says volcanic creatures? And are thzaar not volcanic creatures themselves? technically no they are not apart of the volcanic creatures. the volcanic creatures are like the TzHaar's veron of monsters to them. the TzHaar are in fact a race of there own and these volcanic creatures(including jad) are just the monters that live in the same area that they live in. such as the difference between humans and any ofer "monster" race of creatures, and the dialog from her chat. she said i can "tweak your task" in other words change it. then she says she can she will change it to 280 so that it will cover enough volcanic creatures so you can get to jad. she goes from TaHaar and changes to volcanic creatures if she meant that TaHaar Where volcanic creatures she would not have changed her dialog to say volcanic creatures she would have just said ill change it to 280 TaHaar. The language in this dialogue that more clearly supports your position is "your task is 280 volcanic creatures of the fight cave." Nothing here precludes the idea that tzHaar are "volcanic creatures," but once she added "of the fight cave," that seems pretty clear.

IMHO, Santas will go down before they go up again. You're right that it's hard to judge such things in the present inflationary environment. I'll share my secret for thinking about Santas fwiw. I look at the santa relative to the blue halloween mask. When the santa is higher than the blue mask (as it is now), I see the santa as a bit overpriced. When it drops below, it's a better deal. Dragon bones certainly seem to be going up. I'm sorry that I bought only a couple thousand when they were below 4k.

Well that's the issue, isn't it? How is that apparent? Not from language alone. All of these creatures are "in the volcano," so it would be reasonable to infer that they are "volcanic," but you're right that Jagex might not be treating it that way. The question on the table is, "Has anyone checked?" Surely someone has actually tried this. Perhaps someone in this very long thread already has tried it and reported the result -- I don't remember. But I'm agnostic on the question until I either try it myself or get a report from a trustworthy source who has personally tried it.

Correct. You simply need to kill monsters in the Fight Caves. If you die or quit before reaching Jad, you won't need to fight him at all. Intresting, do they have to be from the fight cave or can they be other tzhaars? They can be other TzHaars normally, but if you extend the task they have to be from the Fight Caves. I would suggest that you do the normal Tzhaar unless your planing on going for a fire cape anyway then the extra 25k is worth it other wise its like 37k exp from the whole cave and you can get around 30-35k pietying slayer so this real is not worth the extra time see as you could fail and only get like 13k exp. Interesting. Has anybody checked that if you pikc the "jad" task it does HAVE to be fight caves monsters. Afterall the only change is they up the monster count to give you enough to kill Jad within the task, and they do say IF you kill jad during task alot. Might be worth checking out, cause you could do a 280 task on normal thzaar ifu like long tasks and want some obby charms etc ... Living Rock Patriarch gives 530 slayer xp I don't think the poster was questioning whether anyone had SAID that it had to be in the caves if you pick 280. I think the poster was questioning whether anyone had CHECKED. Merely highlighting what someone had said doesn't really respond to that unless you highlight that someone said they had checked. If I ever get the task, I'll check and post unless it becomes abundantly clear in the meantime.

I also was another flipping red masks, but now i can't as stated above. Good thing i have 12 sitting around to make cash from the rise ahead. I finally was able to buy a red mask at max last night. Then they went up 1.4M on the price change, and I sold (two actually) for max this morning. I kinda hate to sell when they're going up so fast. On the other hand, I got almost 100M for two masks.

Probably a bad idea to try to respond to something as incoherent as this, but here goes. I WAS flipping red masks. I would like to be flipping red masks right now, but I've found it to be impossible at the moment because I haven't been able to buy below max. (I've found that I don't really make much money buying for max and then selling for max, although I suppose that could be called "flipping.")

I didn't know that using slayer gear was an established way to kill KQ -- I'm a boss-hunting newb. Are you saying that people actually kill the KBD over 100 times on a slayer task?

Most of the killing that I do is on a slayer task, and I've found that the existence of the slayer helm has more and more come to dominate the way I do things. For example, a number of the tasks that I routinely used to range now have been replaced by mele because its so hard to give up the slayer helm boost. The dominance of the slayer helm most recently came to my attention with regard to the KQ. One of the (several) things that I've never done in game is solo the KQ, and I thought I might try it. Of course, conventional wisdom for fighting the KQ is that you wear Veracs. But as I was thinking about gearing up for my trip, I suddenly thought about waiting until I was on task and using my slayer gear instead of Veracs. (I haven't yet decided for sure whether this makes sense, but I'm seriously considering it.) Maybe I'm crazy to think this way, but if I'm not, and if the slayer helm is so powerful that it's now starting to infect entirely unrelated activities, such as boss hunting, perhaps it's overhpowered?

The effect of the prayer update on dragon bones has been getting all the attention, but marentills also have gone through the roof, especially clean ones.

I've been flipping halloween masks since I dumped my santas. They're quite stable. Always buyable and always sellable. A little hard to buy at mid, but if you keep an offer in for all three at mid, you'll probably get one within a day. Can't sell for max, but easily sellable above mid. So they're slowly but surely moving up in price. I can confirm this 100% i also have been flipping them, buying 100k above mid and selling for 700-1m above mid. Plus i am also holding about 12 red masks so i get 5-10m every second or third day with the slow rises, not bad for f2p and 10 mins a day tops. One small edit to what I posted before. I just sold a red for max, so I guess they sometimes can be sold for max. I also have been holding several hundred mil worth of reds as I have thought them the best long-term investment and least risky of the three. Thanks all, I sold my blue for 500k above med Don't sell red right now for anything other than max. For some reason, red masks got very hot today. I sold two, and I'm sorry that I did that.

Has anyone noticed the surprising rise of tomato prices? It would seem strange if this price rise were due to someone suddenly finding a new use for these. Or perhaps merchanters are driving the price? Perhaps this is someone's attempt to create a new form of junk?

There used to be another thread on this topic, but it's now become more of a general "market" discussion. Many (including me) have suggested that partyhat prices cannot keep climbing forever. We also suggested that the introduction of a money sink update (like a major prayer update) likely would trigger a partyhat crash. Well it hasn't happened yet. Will it ever? Perhaps partyhats never will be buyable in the GE again? My hope is that this thread can remain a pure discussion of the ultimate Runescape symbol of wealth -- the partyhat.
