Political Correctness
Maybe they don't complain because they are in fact African? Meh. I understand what you're saying. It's all because of PC. Blame PC.

Political Correctness
Peru and Mexico are separate countries. Nigeria and Liberia are countries located on the continent of Africa. So they're both Africans. Peruvians aren't Mexicans ;) They're still seperate countries as well. Nigerians are Africans. Liberians are Africans. Peruvians are not Mexicans because Mexico is a country, not a continent. Geddit?

I want to learn to use Blender 3D. [See first post]
3D modeling might be cool. Except I have no experience whatsoever so I'm the purest kind of noob. But it would still be cool.

Off-Topic board swamped with news articles
Except it's more like the "nothing but incredibly pointless and selfless ego stroking of pseudo-scientific and pseudo-philosophical discussion" as nobody is actually giving their own opinions but simply quoting their favorite "hero" in the matter. There's very little independent thought, it's simply a link dump of footnotes. People will be begging to for lighthearted discussion in six months. All this has happened before and it shall all happen again. Quite right. A subforum has (SURPRISE!!) been suggested before. Multiple times. Not gonna happen.

The Authors Corner Volume 1 Issue 4 (Includes New story!!!!)
Fantasy seems to have pushed sci-fi out of the picture . . . though I'll be honest, I'd rather not see sci-fi get the same treatment by hack writers as fantasy has in its popularity surge. Meh, I have like 30 Star Wars books, New Jedi Order and on. I'm a Star Wars geek though so I would. They're more for the fact that it's Star Wars than anything else.

Flames [Short Story]
I'm not treating you like an idiot. You provided none of those explanations at the time so I critiqued what was there. You'd be surprised how many people who post in the VL have no clue how to use simple grammar structures. If you had a better copy you should have posted that, or at least let everyone know. Don't hold anything back :)

LOST
For Charlie, Desmond was merely prolonging his death, not saving him. Daniel was talking about events in the past, since Sawyer was trying to talk to Desmond before they crashed on the island. But that doesn't explain Locke getting shot, though. Past and future is relative. Where we are in the show now, Charlie's death is in the past. And had he died at any of the other times Desmond predicted, events may not have played out the same. So while the end result for Charlie was still death, Desmond's interference made all the difference for everyone else. Essentially, Desmond created new strings when he shouldn't be able to. And Locke being shot makes perfect sense, and if you don't think so you're going to have a hell of a time when he starts dropping in on the Others in other times as well, since Richard said "the next time we meet, I'm not going to recognize you." This is an explanation for how they knew Locke was special and were expecting him: he popped in on them, claiming to be from the future, and then disappeared just as fast. Then a man named John Locke crashed on the island on flight 815, so they knew it was him.

actually this thread functions as a satiris statement against the mass of news threads weve been receiving, thread maker was brilliant in choosing this method of complaining. Except he's not the first to do it. That fact pretty much speaks for itself.

LOST
Desmond sort of had to be an exception, after all his flashes and him constantly saving Charlie from death. They go directly against what Faraday said about being unable to change time.

It's a phase. The "kill all news threads" phase is rapidly coming on, and soon to follow is the "nothing but incredibly valuable and intelligent scientific and philosophical discussion" phase.

Space, and the mysterys behind it
8. God cannot have an even number of arms. Therefore 27 is more likely, though I say it is 7. [/hide] Why can't he have an even number of arms? God can divide by zero, therefore he has no trouble dividing odd numbers evenly.

Historical Fiction
Historical fiction is a fictional take on true events, usually with invented characters and small-scale plots set in the frame of a bigger, historically accurate plot. The Never War, book 3 of Pendragon, is my favorite. Such a cool take on what might have happened.

Flames [Short Story]
Get rid of the ellipses in the first chunk of dialogue. They're annoying and out of place. Use some kind of word processor to help you catch all the grammar mistakes, because there are quite a lot and it's tiring for me or anyone else to have to go through and list them. Direct quotes should be like this: "Insert quote here." I don't know why you're doing it like ' this ' , but that's wrong. Double quotation marks, quote, punctuation, end quote with another set of ". Honestly just go over some basic grammar rules before you write a story. You can't write something that has dialogue when you don't know how to use it. And like I said, use a word processor. It will help.

Maturity and Immaturity
The internet has made me so sick of the words "maturity" and "immaturity" that I wonder why I even opened this topic.

LOST
I'm going to be a rebel here and say that it couldn't have been much closer to perfect. I don't see how anyone could be confused. Unlike the flash-forwards last year, all of the off-island events are now occurring at the same time, three years after they were rescued. The only one that didn't was the part on Penny's boat, but that was headed with a THREE YEARS EARLIER caption. The beginning was awesome. And once again I'll complain about people labeling an episode as worthless because it didn't shell out some mind-blowing revelation. For me one of the highlights of the premiere was seeing Sawyer losing control, since "everyone I care about just blew up on your damn boat." Hurley was amazing throughout. And it's so great to see Ben still with a firm grip on what's going on even though he's been deposed as the island leader. Although he's having problems, of course.

Twilight.
Could you write 4 books any better? Allow me to take the time to explain exactly why this is a [cabbage] argument and should not be used, ever. 1. The person answers yes. Now they look arrogant and you can easily rag on them for being jealous, a liar, whatever. 2. The person answers no. Now you are free to tell them that their argument is invalid because they're just jealous of Meyer's writing ability and since she obviously possesses a higher level of sentience than her critics, she's off the hook. 3. The person realizes both of these scenarios and does not answer. Any one of the straw men above can now be used. It is completely irrelevant whether or not a critic can write a better book. Just because a reader does not posses the skills to write a respectable novel does not mean that they have no ability to realize exactly what has been done wrong in a published one. Meyer doesn't have the skills to write a respectable novel, so why should her critics? It's an extremely flimsy attempt to deflect or discredit criticism, and what's more is that a good number of people actually can write better than Meyer, so you're putting your foot in your mouth using that as an argument anyway.

I'm home. Now I have to occupy myself for the next half hour until the episode is over so I can start watching. Ahhhhhh this is frustrating lol.

Wow, at least they managed to keep the season 3 ending under wraps until there were only 2 episodes left. You sure it's not a foiler?

LOST
That's almost exactly my plan, minus the finals bit :P I don't have TiVo or DVR either. I feel like a genius for fusing ancient 90's technology with my room setup. And since my parent's room is on the other side of the wall, I had to come up with a way to hear it without pissing them off. Cue routing everything through an amp with a headphone jack, and utilizing the eight feet of (headphone) cord extender that I have floating around for some reason. I knew it would come in useful one day!
