How strong are your virtues
1. If a friend from RL lent you a party hat to wear once and give back, would you take it? Never! 2. If an ingame friend gave you his partyhat to wear then give back, would you take it? No! I'm a better friend than that. 3. If a rich person you hardly knew lent you his partyhat to wear and give back, would you take it? No, I want people to know me as trustworthy. 4. If you knew someones password, and knew they were rich, would you take thier stuff? No, I wold warn them that their password is easy to figure ot, and advise that they change it. Seems easy so far, this is where it starts to get a bit harder. 5. Would you kill a skulled person in the wilderness for a partyhat? Yes, it's their fault they brought it out and sklled with full knowledge of the dangers of the wilderness. 6. Would you accept a duel with a much lower level that stakes all his money (say 5 mil)? If they knew what they were doing, yes. And Finally, the big one that expect the vary the most 7. If someone died, and dropped something valuable, would you give it back. AND how valuable would it have to be for you to keep it? I always try to give the items of dead people back, and I would not keep any items from a dead person, even if they carried huge amounts of rares. (I'm a goody-goody, an I know it.)

New Announcement Forum Sticky! ~COMPLETED THE STICKY!~
That's amazing! I've just got one question... Do you plan to place this as a Global Announcment, or PM it to the plaers as previously suggested? Also, you probably shouldn't name yourself in the sticky, as it may be posted by a moderator, and that could cause some confusion. This is brilliant work Devoted! You're an amazing person to spend so much time working on something you know many people will never or rarely use (not to discourage you =D). Keep it up! I look forward to seeing this in its final format.

Thoughts about the digital economy.
Theoretically the price shouldn't rise, since all those santas were just sitting in the bank and out of circulation. Correct, but it would probably rise due to the reaction of the population to the banning :-k . Ah, now we come to the real driving force behind any economy in the world - the population. No economy can run without a population to feed it. And with the driving power of the population comes the possibility that the economy will be drastically changed by a simple little tidbit of news. Consider this fact of Duke Freedom quitting. When those santas went up 5m in a day, that wasn't because of any true logical reason. As is pointed out by Hi9im8here7, the price really shouldn't have changed, had everyone realized that. However, the effect of santas suddenly being 500 less cause a HUGE boom in their prices. This is a classic example of the reaction of the population to a single event changing the economy. Now consider this in real life terms. We all know Tiger Woods has a contract with Nike to use their equipment for advertising purposes. We're equating santas to a real-world product line here, as opposed to a single item, because very few single items are as rare as santas. Suppose Tiger decided to change from Nike to Adidas (if they even make golf clubs?) equipment. This simple fact doesn't change the quality of the clubs, nor does it change the amount of clubs in circulation by any significant amount. However, Adidas' sales would immediately skyrocket due to the new popularity of their prodct, and Nike's would plummet. This would have an effect on the stock market, which could theoretically affect other products as well. So one person changing the clubs they use in the game of golf can affect every other product out there. Duke Freedom's banning is another example of this, but in RS terms. Although his banning truly did result in the lowering of the number of santas in circulation, it was his popularity (and thus, the mood of the people) that changed the market price of santas so much. It's worth stating again - the population defines the market. The only true way for Jagex to combat inflation is to introduce another skill or game such as Construction, a major money drain. Or, they could reduce the flow of money into the game by lowering alch prices, prices for selling to shops or gold from monster drops and rewards from minigames. The lessening of the amount of money in the game is the only way to truly combat inflation. However, if Jagex should overcombat it, it is a true possibility that deflation might occur. Nobody would buy any materials from other players, choosing instead to raise their own levels. This would be terrible for the economy, because there would simply no longer be an economy. The value of the gold piece would be nonexistent, except to buy from stores, and it's almost as easy to get the items as monster drops. The price of all items would rise, except for the raw resources that anybody can get. The weapons and armour (e.g. dragon chains) that can only be obtained through monsters would explode, and the price of raw resources would go down. Therefore, it's in Jagex's better interest to combat inflation, but not overly destroy it.

Yeah, this is an awesome idea. Some wannabe mods are going to be happy come selection time. I hope you guys aren't pushing all the reading work off on one person, they'd probably die of the strain =D Best of luck everyone! I'm sure the recruits will do a good job and take some of the workload off TIF staffers.

Pure Essence! Did it really work?
I doubt this would do any good, becas TB@JT have no way of telling who is an autoer and who not simply by experience amonts.

The Psychotic Journey of Klan and Zaros ~70+ Everything~
Thanks! I'm going away for 9 days, bt I'll be hard at work again soon as I get back!
-
Where are Jagex's Priorities?
I think TB@JT are doing an awesome job, considering the breadth and depth of the player base they have to serve. They are accurately represented by the quote "You can please some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but never all of the people all of the time". They're trying to do the greatest good for the greatest number, and succeeding admirably. Those out there who complain that not enough updates are focused on their level/interests need to realize that they're getting as much as anyone else.

Pure Essence! Did it really work?
I don't think raising the XP per essence would do anything, as the essence would still be worth near to the same. There would still be lots of autoers, and all that would happen would be they get high mining levels faster. Really, I doubt that this situation is desirable, as it could lead to some of those macroers growing into rune autoers (the ore, not the magic supply). This would make life even worse for those high levels who took the time to get 85 mining, as they would feel slighted and as if their work wasn't worth as much, which it really wouldn't. Hence, Jagex would have to deal with even more complaints than the Pure Essence upgrade gave them. This theory's just that, though - a theory. It is simply a tentative gess at what could happen. As for the other suggestion, that's simply ludicrous. I don't think it was really meant as a suggestion, because even you admit that it is only a short-term fix. I'm not going to bother addressing it here.

The RUSH trivia thread!
In Moving Pictures they did start to lean heavily towards synths, but the difference was much more pronounced in Signals, which is where the synth age is considered to have started. What is the only Rush album since A Farewell to Kings that has NOT contained any synthesizers? This one might be a little tough... I just found this out a couple days ago =D Alex, put a question after you answer one! I need something to answer =D

Pure Essence! Did it really work?
I noticed that Toxicologist thought that would drastically slow down essence mining. I'd think an easy solution to that drop in speed would be to make it like the bank PIN - only enter it once each session. You'd only lose five seconds, and it would still stop autoers. This could be a good idea - however, autoers would also only need to enter it once per time. It would stop the "factory" autoers, but not for long. They would likely get someone to log in the accounts once, then mine non-stop for however long they could go for. I'm sure they do have workers to oversee the autoers, and so that wouldn't really work. However, a two-digit pin doesn't really slow down production all that much - you lose five seconds every time through. That might have a slight raise in price, but it would destroy the essence autoers. I don't believe what Toxic said - it wouldn't slow you down that drastically. Now all Jagex need to do is find a way to take out the yew bots.

Fire, How It Burns Me So. (99!/99)
Whoa! Good luck, 99 firemaking is hawt. (Only because of the nice orange cape tho.) You better get p2p and get the cape, because it is just so cool to be dressed in bright orange. Even if you are on a break.... you better get it. I don't even want to say what I'll do to you. I don't quite know yet... Oh well.

I know, it's kinda scary :ohnoes: And it's gonna take a long time. I will (hopefully? =S) get through it okay, and with all sanity intact :D Good luck on firemaking! The orange cape is the best-looking one IMO. Especially with the trim. Get something easy just to trim it :D

I love that song!! Saw them live in July and they still put on a great show at age sixty lol What album marked the beginning of the "synthesizer age"?

Pure Essence! Did it really work?
I think all this would result in is an above-average number of player complaints. There are dedicated players out there who can mine over 5k essence per day, and their moneymaking should not be penalized due to autoers. Also, this wouldn't have any effect on the problem itself, as autoers/gold farmers would simply create more accounts that could then gather at a higher rate of speed as well. As for the autoers making more money calculations, I believe they do. Pure essence is 85ea, and so you need 12k to get 1m, which mose autoers could easily get in a day. If you can sell 1m for $10, you are making a profit on your first day of a members account. Very few people are going to be banned in the first day of account life, so they are going to make a profit that membership fees will not put a dent in. Autoers are, therefore, better off than they were, because they can make the money in a third of the time required, minus a five dollar membership fee, which is paid off in under a day of work.
