  1. Sorry, can't hear you over the sound of me turning into part ent. Unable to bleed to death, that's an advantage you can't- OH GOD IT HURTS!!!
  2. Intersession action: Håkon becomes half tree and awaits the return of his elemental.
  3. I've got an idea, you could just use a .txt to keep track of the stats and then just keep it in dropbox so you don't have to fish the numbers out for use every time we forget.
  4. Ok, that sounds like something I could make do with. And actually, for more cultural relevance, Norðri, Suðri, Austri and Vestri might be more suitable as deities for me to worship, they're not gods, but are according to Norse mythology the four dwarves that hold the sky up and represent north, south, east and west respectively, while dwarves in general represent wisdom, mining, smithing and crafting. So likes technology, mining and smithing/crafting, hates wasting materials, shoddy work and needles destruction of crafted items.
  5. Actually, set me up for Hephaestus as god. Though why did you give me two wands when I wanted to be a craftsman/mechanic?
  6. Let me see, what time am I free? How about 00:00-24:00?
  7. The funny thing is that my DNS crapped out again and I had to restart the router less than a minute after I posted that.
  8. Our router is a Gigabit one, I know that for sure because we've been trading them in for a new one pretty much every third month due to our DNS unexplainably crapping out ever 24 hours. On my branch of the network there's also my 5 port 10/100 Megabit switch which I need due to the sheer number of computers in my room. Also despite the floor beneath my desk being pretty much a tangled mess of network cables, most of which have a lot of specifications printed on them, none of them have any such value, probably because that is in fact not a specification, but a network type. But yeah, my computer only has a 100 Megabit connection, the wireless however is in Gigabit (or rather a multitude of hundreds of Mbps) when you're near the router.
  9. I just realized that suddenly I am able to see pictures hosted by Tinypic in Chrome again, but not tinypic itself or at all in Opera. This is very confusing.
  10. That's so true, but to be fair, now games have actual length rather than using the Nintendo solution (Game not long enough? Make it harder).
  11. I know for certain it wasn't Mbs, because then I would still be downloading updates now. Also by professional programs they're almost always used correctly. Tools that download files use Bytes, tools for measuring network speed use bits. And no, Cat5-cables are for up to 100 Mbs, Cat6-cables (the most modern network cables) however can handle up to 1000 Mbs, aka. Gigabit networks. Just look here:
  12. Just checked up on my Steam downloads when I noticed this: (Low download rate is just Steam's fault, with the instability and all.) I love my ISP. For the record, that's 2.21x the network speed we're signed up for, and 3.68x what we bought. I'm not even sure how that's possible, that's 110.4 Mbs, and my network cable is only a Cat 5 (supposedly only able to handle up to 100 Mbs).
  13. Grieving as in expressing sadness. I don't know how dolphins do it, but orangutans and gorillas do it by tending to the corpse and showing respect much in the same manner as humans do, dogs do it by protecting the corpse, pigs don't do it at all, what I suspect a pig would do is to carry on their daily business and then staying away when it starts to smell. And on the matter of intelligence, objectivity is impossible, as it can only be determined by examining the degree of cleverness and complexity of actions that are consciously chosen, now this is impossible to do until we create a program capable of simulating a pig and a computer fast enough to run it. And no, I do not deem martial artist to be further ahead of the rest of us on the food chain any more than I deem lionesses to be ahead of lions or ant soldiers to be ahead of ant workers.
  14. Until it has been proven that a pig is capable of grieving, I refuse to believe any claims that they rank as intelligent, because whether they are capable of semi-advanced actions or not, they are instinct-driven creatures. And the reason a boar can kill an unarmed human more easily than the other way around is because: 1. The boar will attack first, 2. Humans gave evolved to use tools rather than brute strength. Though you can replace that unarmed human with pretty much any professional martial artist, then the boar will drop first.
  15. I think it's fair to eat a pig because we're above it on the food chain. I don't think it's morally right to eat a monkey, dog, or dolphin because they are intelligent enough to understand the concept of death and are thus capable of fearing it. But yeah, since you're being nitypicky, it is also disrespectful to someone's memory to do anything to their body that they would not have approved of. Though there are other ways to insult people that doesn't involve disrespecting them.
  16. What you used there was disregarding, not disrespecting. Disrespecting is when what you do can be seen as an insult to their judgement, opinion or skills, such as by desecrating a corpse, which by any religion I can think of besides satanism, voodoo, some tribal religions and possibly wicca have deemed evil, thus stating that you do not recognize their opinion and judgement as valid. Discussing a topic someone finds insulting within earshot of them is disregarding their feelings, but unless you discuss it with them it is not disrespecting. Also disrespecting may require some further emphasis on certain points than disregarding does. Say you talk to a devout christian about the Big Bang, that's disregarding their belief. But if you talk to a devout christian about how creation theory can be disproved, that's disrespecting their belief.
  17. Now in these two you are wrong, and would be regardless of the topic. Disrespecting anyone is morally wrong from an objective point of view. Them feeling disrespected by it is a subjective opinion from their side, but doing something that doesn't make the fact that disrespecting them is morally wrong an objective fact.
  18. Res, they would still be able to do so, it would just not be legal for the distributor to intend for it. And you want objective reasons for why necrophilia is morally wrong? A corpse is a rapidly decaying object, decay also being an universal euphemism for death, meaning you would be shagging what is metaphorically death itself. It has the potential to be disrespectful to those that are left behind by the departed. It is disrespectful to any religion that upholds the sanctity of death.
  19. If you read the header you would know that the use of the Internet for anything that isn't banned by the Internet's laws would be legal, regardless of the local government's laws. So even if pornography was illegal in that nation, it would still be legal when viewed through the Internet. Necrophilia is ethically wrong, and deserves to be outlawed. Harmful content is content that causes actual harm, such as viruses and worms. The specification of data as well is to prevent random DDOSing from becoming the virus makers' new hobby. The country has no say over the Internet, and since online gambling is enjoyable and not harmful or morally wrong it should not be outlawed. Allowing a child however to lose their money is. 13 is the age you are considered rational enough to make decisions for yourself regarding this sort of thing, and if you haven't noticed it is only the continuation of an existing US law, and most places you can currently register at comply with that law.
  20. I suggested Anonymous. None of these laws are new BTW (except possibly §3.2), they are already in employed by most nations, and they have a greater chance of being enforced online this way than they currently have. But I have to go to bed, writing those laws took me longer than it felt.
  21. I've already written a set of laws I think would be suitable for a free but civilized Internet. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1dCAE57ZUgtgO41WnDPXLf2aKIicU3HJZwPfQJEbCXPo/edit
  22. I just got the craziest idea ever, I am going to try to start a campaign to announce the internet as an independent "buffer state", wherein those who wander are subject only to its rules and will need not fear for their actions there to be scrutinized and judge by the nation they physically inhabit. In fact I am going to go as far into detail as I can. This will be an awesome internet, with blackjack and hookers. And no, the only thing I'm drunk on right now is a feeling of greatness.
  23. Games tend to bore me until I start playing them. It's like "*sigh*, ok, I'll just play until I find something to do... SHIT! IT'S 02:00 ALREADY?!?"
  24. Actually the only thing it takes priority over is studying and sometimes sleeping. My girlfriend would be my first priority if I had one.
  25. Not like that, but like for example running into a burning building to get something of sentimental value, beating up an armed mugger in order to be on time, or jumping into freezing water to get something that was blown to sea. Those are things that I would do in a heartbeat.
