When do we get a REAL update?
We do not pay for updates. We pay for the ability to use thousands of new items, monsters, places, and skills. Jagex just does updates as a sort of "bread and circus" to appease the throngs of ADD kids who would otherwise get bored with the perpetual grind of this game and quit. I'm not excusing them, though, know that. If they're going to consume money to produce updates, they should make those updates count--- any logical developer would know that you update from the end of the game, not the beginning. All MMORPGs are designed so that you level up quickly in the beginning (to hook you on the game with the immediate gratification of leveling) and then the experience required to level-up increases exponentially as you get further along. That means that any content added at the beginning largely goes to waste, since people shoot past that point in their characters' development so quickly. But as I said, the updates are mainly a bread-and-circus kind of thing, so with that kind of mentality, it's understandable why so many updates seem so half-assed and worthless in the grand scheme of things.

Until you think that those who ARE lower level will EVENTUALLY be high level, if they keep playing. Low level has plenty of contend to finish still. I have all quests done, all diaries done except for finishing ardy elite, etc. We need more content because we've accomplished more, and we deserve more content for funding jagex for years. And I agree with LEP and Morning. Racheya, you are so (seemingly) infatuated with jagex, that you always come to their defense. That isn't necessarily bad, but people do notice. She wasn't really defending jagex, she was saying it's annoying hearing everyone complain every week, which I agree. Why can't people just play the game to enjoy it? If you don't enjoy it, stop playing, it's not exactly rocket science. You are right about the possibility of lower level players becoming high level players, but the VAST majority IS in fact low level. It's just business to cater to those needs more than the needs of a very low percentage. They're trying to attract new players, and by releasing high level content all the time, it could intimidate lower level players. Now, I'm not saying that they shouldn't release high level content, which I think they should, I'm just saying if those who are complaining about it were business people, they'd do the same thing, whether they're willing to admit it or not. There are more high-leveled players than ever, especially regarding combat. Also, RS is the only MMORPG that caters the majority of its updates to lower levels. Every other gaming company understands that people grow out of "being a noob" very quickly, and wants to reward the people who stick with the game, rather than the fly-by-nighters who play an hour here or there and end up quitting after 3 months.

Runescape forums.
Jagex re-created the "Rants" forum with the express purpose of containing all the "garbage" in it. They replaced the old "rants" with "Forum Feedback," which while it still has a lot of irrelevant garbage, the quality is slightly higher. Overall, I think Recent Updates and Future Updates are the only sections of the RSOF worth anything. The marketplace forums are a tool of corruption used by the manipulation clans; most of the offers in it are fake, intended to get suckers to believe that X item is being panic bought/sold for X arbitrary "street price" that the manipulators decide on.

Why Runescape needs instanced bosses.
Don't know why jagex didn't just do this from the start. It sounds much better then how they have it set up atm. The p2p spots in f2p worlds are still there this probably wouldn't be that hard of an update for them to do. This would destroy "clan" PKing. All clan PKing takes place in F2P, because there is much more actual tactics involved in fights than in p2p, where everything is so overpowered.

High levels had about two-three months worth of updates, after being consistently ignored for YEARS. The last two quests have been novice-level quests.- Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here!

Does this work? http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/8862/world2small.jpg Holy cow, that is awesome  . Did you make this? If so, could I use it for the article? I plan on submitting it to the times, if they let me. And if you made it, I would credit you of course  Edit: After looking more closely, I realized that this was from another site, lol. I guess I would just have to use it as a reference to make my own, huh? The owner of Truthscape (he abandoned the site and made a new one) is registered here, as Qeltar. It's the same website, it just operates under a different name now.- Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here!

Oh yeah, that would work. Player A has 800 LP, and 80 HP. "Gets hit a 513 with Constitution, but is on HP* *Gets hit a 287 with Constitution, but is on HP and doesn't realize they needed to eat* You're an idiot. If they were on HP It would show a 51 hit, knowing they would need to eat. But you're too ignorant to think so, read up on what you're talking about before you make a fool of yourself ;) Unspam: WTF?- 03-Mar-10 Changes to HP Skill, Shattered Heart, RuneScape Lobby/Login Changes, Success at Smelting Iron

Whenever someone said the mu symbol, it caused everyone who saw it to receive a "fatal error" and their RS clients would shut down. This was heavily exploited by several (including one now-banned TIFer) in BH to gain lots of items.- Ice strykerwyrms and the removal of the Fire cape requirement
It is about the original topic... my original comment was that the removal of the actual requirement, and the compromise made to those who already had Fire Capes, wasn't exactly fair when it was possible that even people with a Fire Cape would consider not using it. By the way, I don't want to start a huge debate about theoretical math again, but I finally got an Ice Strykewyrm task last night. First of all, I ran exactly one prayer potion short, and prayer flashing isn't so effective on magical attacks (or my timing is just off), so my Red Cape would've saved me an entire trip, but that was a terrible miscalculation on my part so that doesn't say too much. Secondly, magic splashes surprisingly often on them. It was shocking since many 93+ Slayers, and the RS Wiki, stated that their defense was quite low and I shouldn't splash much, but I would still fail on average 2 casts per kill. Finally, as far as damage goes, I tracked for the first several kills - every time I hit, I would count up 4 damage, and see how many casts it would have saved to have been dealing 4 more damage a hit. It did save me a few kills, but it turns out damage isn't distributed very evenly at all. I think that the first thing I'd try after the update would be to see if the +4 is doubled. If not, I'll probably test out my Guthix Cape. While the +4 would save more than I thought (on average 1 cast every 3 kills or so, with about 11 casts per kill), I imagine with an average of 2 splashes per kill, boosting my magic attack bonus could save more. In either case, it reinforces my original point - the fact that it could be less hassle (Red / Blue Capes) or potentially better (Saradomin / Guthix / Zamorak Capes) to not use the Fire Cape indicates that if the Fire Cape only adds +4 damage it's not really a fair compromise. Mod Whatshisface did confirm that the Fire Cape will add +8 damage to magical fire attacks.- Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here!
It took me five Ice Strykewyrm tasks to get my one and only staff. I also had three desert and two jungle tasks without a special drop. I also maged the Ice Worms, and I guarantee that I lost at least 700k or more, not counting the staff drop.- Fire cape compromise. New post by Mod Chris L.
Here's what really rubs me raw about this situation. The most common argument against the Fire Cape requirement is "it excludes people who have disabilities which prevent them from being able to complete it." Well, the average player in RS is something like 15-18 years old. That is way too young to be experiencing "reflex problems" that affect you to the extent where you can't see an animation and respond to it by clicking a fairly large symbol on your prayer interface. Yes, there are indeed some middle-aged (and elderly) people who play and there are people with joint issues that cause extreme pain when they play for prolonged periods, but as I said, they are the MINORITY. The majority of people complaining are just lazy band-wagoners who don't want to sit through the hour-and-a-half (OF NON-CONSECUTIVE PLAY TIME) to get to Jad. And before somebody says it, failing at Jad ten times because you "got nervous and messed up" is NOT a disability. - 15-Mar-10 Lumbridge Catacombs & The Blood Pact
