  1. Maybe F2P pvp anything won't suck against range now.
  2. I hate off topic conversations, and I hate hipsters. So I guess I hate myself. How emo is that? TNPW also be emo.
  3. http://garfieldminusgarfield.net/page/5 TNPW be by a man.
  4. Banned for wall of text. Not that it matters, since you're leaving anyway.
  5. Speaking as a former F2P pker... simplify the damn thing. Give a purpose behind levels and weapons. I know that the eoc was supposed to make combat more real time and multi-facetted, but the truth of the matter is the simplicity is what had me hooked on F2P RuneScape pking, and this new shit has me reduced to button mashing my keyboard every half second.
  6. The worst part about it is they put the game on the Grand Exchange, home of the Ponzi scheme and short-sellers galore.
  7. Pick a language, become comfortable. 80-90% of what you learn in that language will be applicable to other languages, the rest is syntax and tricks and tips. Programming in an unfamiliar language will then simplify to figuring out what you need to do (do x, y, then z), and then finding how you can do it (which libraries are available, how do I access this element of this list, what is the syntax to etc). C is a good language to learn with Java, because C clearly demonstrates what Java is trying to accomplish and why it does what it does. HTML5 is good to learn as well. The best advice I can give you is to learn something that you'll need on the job, having a little experience in 10 different languages that the employer would never use is worse than being proficient in the one language they do use.
  8. Sorry for the necro, but I've had time to make a couple more templates. Unfortunately I'll be traveling for work at the end of October, so I don't think I'll be able to carve either of them. Also, if you have a suggestion for a character I should do next, let me know! [hide] [/hide]

  10. Yeah, but it's a little dishonest to not even acknowledge your roots. I think bonds were aptly named... you're betting on the future of runescape when you buy them. Conceivably this could create a bubble where players hoard enough of these bonds, and then something triggers everyone to redeem them all at once. JaGEx goes a period of time without receiving any income, and since their cash flow is starved they have to turn off the lights.
  11. I wonder if they're going to pretend that they never had the stance that they didn't want real life circumstances influencing in game circumstances.
  12. My point is that skin color has little to do with ethnicity, but other people don't see it that way. Well, learn something new every day. I've never bothered to look up the definition of ethnicity before, I always assumed that it was the proper term for race, which would be the slang form. I suppose that sort of speaks volumes about the way it's normally used if I could get this far in life thinking the words were synonyms, when they have nothing to do with each other. I suppose that leads into a question I have now, which is, is there another word for race (that isn't breed), or is that actually the proper term? It just seems like a concept that should have a word all of it's own, and the closest I can think of are breed (which implies a human hand in it's creation, and will also get you lynched if you use it that way), and stock, which also has multiple meanings. If not, seems like English should be getting out there and stealing someone else's word for it. I think the concept of race was started with a perversion of Darwinist ideas, that some populations of humanity had further evolved than others ("civilized" vs "savages", "Caucasoid" vs "Mongoloid", European vs everything else). Race primarily recognizes physical differences, like skin color. Ethnicity encompasses smaller groups and is a social construct, for instance Irish vs English. http://www.diffen.com/difference/Ethnicity_vs_Race

  14. On the one hand it's "political correctness", on the other hand it's "the cool thing to do". I think you're living off buzzwords, and purposefully remaining ignorant to the points made, in all honesty. If you yourself choose to call yourself English, fine. But don't pretend to be empathizing with those who choose differently. You can't possibly know what their reasons are. Plain "American" shouldn't be reserved solely for whites, while people of color get labeled with their race. That includes black Americans, yellow Americans, and brown Americans. Excuse me, the PC terms are African-American, Asian-American, and Latino-American. Somehow making that distinction isn't racist at all.
  15. There are many different things that get mixed up here - national identity, country of origin, race, religion, and skin color. An example - a black person born in Great Britain, whose parents were raised there as well, studies abroad in the United States. S/he will be automatically stereotyped as "African-American" in America, until s/he speaks. Then s/he'll be labeled as South African, until s/he explains their country of origin. I think part of what's happened is political correctness run amok. White-skinned Americans trying to politely describe the color of other people's skins. But I'll agree with the point of the thread... ignorant and bigoted comments about Miss America are detestable. edit-
  16. The hyphen makes sense for the immigrants, tying themselves back to their place of origin while still trying to assimilate. And English-speaking white people sometimes classify themselves as something else, usually Latinos. But I'm talking about the children and grand children. Who weren't born in their "mother" country, have never lived or even visited there. They're American through and through, even if their skin color isn't white.
  17. I thought she stated that she was "American with Indian descent". So... she said she was American. So... I don't understand your point. Not her specifically, but the label in general. And the people that consciously choose to make the distinction.
  18. I think this hyphenated race to American bullshit needs to stop. You're American, it really doesn't matter where your parents or grand-parents or great-grand parents etc. were born, especially for your purpose of country of origin. Also since most Americans have some kind of mixed ancestry... being 1/32nd Cherokee doesn't make you Native American.
  19. [rooster]. You know what is said.
