  1. This is an obvious and redundant statement on my part, but yes, it's not like Jagex isn't aware of junk trading. Perhaps if they saw it as an issue they would have done something about it already. But then again, who says they aren't now?
  2. Yesterday I showed a lower level all the way from Falador to the hunting area south of the fishing colony. It doesn't always have to be a big favor like brining somebody across the map, because no matter how you help, you are still helping. Showing compassion is the only way to find it. If you can't learn to be a little selfless at times, and let go of pride, then humility and wisdom will never be yours. Helping others is one of the greatest ways to create a feeling of ones own self-worth, dispel pride, remedy shame, and generate wisdom and insight. The second best way would be letting others help you. :P
  3. Well I don't think it matters if a person junk trades or not. They can still formate their own opinion about it based on their own knowledge of it. After all, you don't need to be a fish to catch one. Now back on topic. If you don't have anything else that you haven't already said on this thread then please give somebody else a chance and stop trying to debate with me.
  4. At the moment we are talking about all possibilities. You know, the common kind and then the other ones which encompass other people's definition of junk.
  5. I didn't post this to label junk trading and be done with it, but rather to speculate. Please explain to me how anybody's opinion here is based blindly... It's already an opinion, so it has to be based on something. Just because it's based on an abstract concept that some fail to recognize doesn't make it "blind". That's why it's speculation. Now, Im done with this. We are getting back to the main topic. Junk trading... acceptable and practical? People: What is your opinion on junk trading? What defines junk? Is there more than one way to junk trade? Is the most common practice a practical one?
  6. You have contributed a sufficient amount to my thread, Green... but you are becoming very rude, and it'd be appreciated if you at least try and act like you value other peoples opinions. Otherwise, I'm going to have to ask you to not post here for some time. Also, I'm not "making up" definitions here. I'm exploring the possibility of junk trading being objective, not cut and dry. Start considering that the reality of it isn't the only option. It's called open mindedness. ...and I think we've established the generally accepted definition of junk traded well enough to think about other possibilities anyway.
  7. That could be considered one form of junk. What about items that just don't have a market because of lack of demand, not having to do with the price. And in the end does it necessarily matter if the person can sell them again? If you have a way to make junk without spending extensive time doing it, and without spending anything at all on it, you would still make more money... but then we get back into the whole "items don't integrate" idea. Again, you'd just be selling individual items, just like selling a gilded plate body and, for example, maple logs. Junk or not, any item you put in alongside with that gilded plate will rase the worth to the other player. It's not raising the plate-body's worth. Perhaps I am looking at this completely wrong and maybe I fail to grasp the bare-bones concept. But, as far as I'm concerned, there isn't just one way to junk trade, and not just one kind of junk.
  8. You're saying that you can't sell junk for cash, but that's just not true. If you trade a regular bone to somebody (and that is pretty junky), and they put up coins and accept, that piece of junk just got sold... for cash! The fact of the matter is, when you make a real junk trade, that junk doesn't become the item you want to make a profit on. they doesn't integrate, merge or fuse. You are still selling that junk. What makes it a "profit" is that you didn't have to spend money on collecting all of it.
  9. So at what point does something become "junk"... 20K cooked chickens to make a 100k profit would be considered junk because it's there really is no resale, so the player who ended up with it can't make up the difference that they spend over the GE prices. That would be a good junk item to use, but the issue with all of it is the practicality. Is collecting a large amount of junk in order to make a profit worth the effort? Though in the end you end up with more coins, don't you think the above is comparable to junk that was easily obtained from making it or buying it? In doing that you spend money, and hence when it comes to trading time, the resale of that junk makes up for what you spent on it... not a profit.
  10. Why do people keep SAYING this? You can't sell junk for cash. Nobody will pay for it. THAT is what makes it junk. It doesn't matter that it has a use in junk trades, because it is NOT interchangeable with cash. Why is this concept so hard for some people? Easy there hombre... My point is not that those junk items are being bought... its that they are being made. All of those summoning pouches cost money out of your own pocket to be made. And of course it's not whether or not those items are truly worth something to other people. Yeah, obviously that is what makes them junk. It's about whether or not making/collecting those junk items is worth it, because you're spending to get them yourself, and then probably just selling them for an equal amount... making no profit
  11. So obviously there are certain items that make great junk, such as summoning scrolls and pouches, which are commonly used for the practice... ... But doesn't that mean if they are commonly used, they are having to be made and spent on for the sake of junk, and therefore no profit is made on the real item? And what does that all mean for the common junk items? How does that effect their market?
  12. I have a Macbook G4 (OS X 10.4.11)... running on a 1.42 GHz processor. I have been told this would still make the cut... I also have 512MB RAM, which is above the required. However I am not so sure what the deal is with my graphics card. This kind of Mac doesn't use a graphics card. It's integrated so therefore it can't be upgraded. Thats the problem; my VRAM is only 32MB My other specs: Chipset Model: ATY,M12 Type: Display Bus: AGP VRAM (Total): 32 MB Vendor: ATI (0x1002) So... even though it was said Macs would be supported, and that if I am running on at-least OS 10 I would have 3d capability, I am still concerned about my VRAM only being 32MB. Will I be able to slide by somehow? Does anybody know about Macs enough to answer that?
  13. Haha, I like you're strong opinion. But how many people do you think are willing to do junk trades if they knew they couldn't pawn off the junk that gets sold to them?
  14. Mmm, that's why I think it's as good as scamming... because those people you're trading with don't intend on you selling the junk. Not that all people who frequently junk trade have that intention.. but otherwise they don't make a profit.
  15. So if it gets the job done, you must be good at conjuring up junk... I guess you don't just buy junk to resell it along with a good item? That would be pointless.
  16. Junk trading... personally, I used to dislike the concept. I thought you might as well be scamming a person the old way because those JUNK items you put up to increase your "profit" are items your buyer aren't meant to sell again. If you see it that way, then you obviously don't accept junk trading. If you see junk trading as a way around the "broken GE" and a method to buy and sell at accurate prices, then you most likely accept the idea. But do you think it's practical too? There are different ways of collecting junk discussed and debated on later pages. Some are impractical, such as collecting junk at a slow rate in order to save possible profit loss in mass producing better junk. Others make more sense, like finding junk which you can produce quickly without spending. I'm going to be honest. When I began this thread my opinion wasn't very well informed. I saw junk trading as a way to try and manipulate prices. But one an a half pages in brought me to the realization that yes... the GE is in fact broken and people are just junk trading to make a deal on a more accurate price. Yes. If a person is going through with a junk trade to buy something, they probably aren't desperate, but agree with the price achieved with junk. Discuss. What you think of junk trading. Do you do it? Why or why not? How do you go about doing it? What are some of the market effects of junk trading? I would like to thank all of the contributors of this thread. My first hot topic :)
  17. I suggest making your own map of the tunnels. That way you'll get to know them a lot quicker because you've spent time actually observing the location. There are a few good runescape map making guides floating around on the internet, so check one out. Also, if you decide to do this, try labeling parts of the map to highlight central areas of activity specific to your ventures in the tunnels.
  18. Love it. There are so many alternatives to burning law runes that I use all the time. The guide is great... just so extensive. I recommend all new players should talk a long look at this. =D>
  19. I like the idea. I guess I will start working on a "self control guide" to replace this one.

  21. As we all know there has been a huge roll back on the forums... so some info and posts have obviously been lost here... Anyway, I am going to work on adding a section about quick chat, and it's availability to muted people... actually, quick chat defeats the purpose of all of the info I wrote in the original guide... but it will stay there for reference.
