  1. Wow, awesome 99s and I love your bank - not a lot of stuff but two of the most sought after items in the game. Spartan yet sheik? :D Good luck with whatever you choose to do next.
  2. Nothing wrong with taking a break hobo. Good luck with your goals and props for getting it done f2p-style!
  3. Thanks guys, I'll be sure to check out both of your blogs.
  4. Background Two or three years ago, I started playing Runescape and when I did, I did what most people do in their first go. I leveled all of my character's stats evenly, I did quests, and I learned the various skills. After some time however, the game started to become boring to me and I stopped playing. After several months of no play at all, I decided to try Runescape again, but this time with the specific goal of building a pker and learning to pk. I created the character, "viral_wulf" and this blog is intended to track my progress and to share my experiences in hopes of maybe learning a thing or two. Long term goal I am attempting to build a "Zerker Pure" and am following "Craftin Fury's How To Make A Zerker Pure: For Dummies!". [hide=Current combat stats] Strength: 60 Attack: 60 Defense: 45 Prayer: 43 Magic: 80 Range: 80 hps: 71 Combat: 72 [/hide] [hide=How I leveled magic] lvl 1-25: I cast the highest strike spell available. lvl 25-55: I cast the highest teleport available. lvl 55-80: high alchemy Alching from 55 to 80 took approximately 30k alchs. I bought supplies and traded them for magic longbows. I chose magic longs in particular because I lost a lot less money than I would have doing any other item that I could think of. These are the prices that I paid: magic log: 1100 bowstring: 150 nature: 290 total cost of supplies: 1535 alch value of magic long: 1536 [/hide] [hide=How I leveled range] lvl 1-15: chickens with bronze arrows lvl 15-40: cows with bronze arrows lvl 40-60: hobgoblins with bronze arrows lvl 60-80: king lathas ogres with bronze arrows I started with chickens and stayed there until I could hit them reasonably often and then moved on to cows. I killed the cows near the crafting guild because this place is empty compared to the cow area across from lumby. When I reached 40 range, I started killing the hobgloblins on "hobgoblin isle" near the crafting guild. The hobgoblins were easy to hit at my level and nobody is ever there so there is always a target to shoot at. I obviously didn't pick up my arrows, but I did telegrab all drops that were worth more than the cost of a law. At around level 60, someone walked by and mentioned the ogres at king lathas training ground. I had heard of them, but had never tried them so I decided to give them a shot. I had to do plague city and then biohazard, but using guides, these quests are very easy to complete. With the quests done, I gave the ogres a try and thank goodness for that. There are plenty of ogres at the training ground, they have lots of hit points and very low defense, and because they are in a cage, you can get very close to them. This means less "air time" for arrows than the hobgoblins. [/hide] [hide=How I leveled Attack and Strength] I've been leveling attack and strength by doing slayer tasks and I always wear a black mask. [/hide] [hide=How I leveled Prayer and Defense] I ectoed dragon bones for 43 prayer and obtained the rest of the experience in both stats by doing various quests. [/hide] [hide=Skills] I will be leveling strength to 70 and then heading to the warrior's guild to collect a rune defender. [/hide] [hide=Quests] I am doing all of the quests mentioned in "Craftin Fury's How To Make A Zerker Pure: For Dummies!" plus some extras. *The Great Brain Robbery is not listed below, I don't think I'm going to do it. **I did all f2p quests whether they are listed below or not. I did this because they are easy and they are frequently requirements for other quests. Big Chompy Bird Hunting Biohazard (complete) Black Knights Fortress (complete) Cooks Assistant (complete) Death Plateau Demon Slayer (complete) Desert Treasure Digsite Quest (complete) Dragon Slayer (complete) Druidic Ritual (complete) Family Crest (complete) Fishing Contest (complete) Fremennik Trials (complete) Gertrudes Cat (complete) Ghosts Ahoy (complete) Goblin Diplomacy (complete) Golem Grand Tree (complete) Heroes Quest (complete) Holy Grail (complete) In Aid of the Myreque (complete) In Search of the Myreque (complete) Jungle Potion (complete) Legends Lost City (complete) Lost Tribe Lunar Diplomacy Making History Merlin's Crystal (complete) Monkey Madness (complete) Mountain Daughter Murder Mystery Nature Spirit (complete) Olaf's Quest (complete) Plague City (complete) Priest In Peril (complete) Rag and bone man Recipe for Disaster Recruitment Drive Restless Ghost (complete) Rum Deal Rune Mysteries (complete) Sea Slug Shadow of the Storm Shield of Arrav (complete) Shilo Village (complete) Slug Menace Spirits Of The Elid Swans Song Temple of Ikov Tourist Trap Tree Gnome Village (complete) Troll Stronghold Underground Pass Wanted! Waterfall (complete) Witch's House [/hide] [hide=Daily log] 10/08/07: Leveled mining to 50 for Hero's Quest (complete) 10/09/07: Did jungle potion and shilo village quest and then leveled fishing to 45 for Hero's Quest req (need 50+fishing pot) 10/10/07: Did shield of Arrav. Leveled fishing to 50. Leveled cooking from 25 to 50 at the Rogue's Den cooking the trout and salmon I fished. Bought 2k coal to go with the iron I mined on 10/08 and then leveled smithing from 31 to 35 by making steel bars in Port P. 10/11/07: Continued to make steel bars until I was down to 1k coal. Went to varrack and made steel arrowheads until I could make steel knives. Made knives until I reached 40 smithing. Went back to shilo and leveled fishing to just shy of 53. 10/12/07: Got 53 fishing and then went back to the Rogue's Den and cooked the fish that I had caught until I reached 53 cooking. I know have all of the skill requirements for The Heroes' Quest as well as The Family Crest. I killed soldiers in Burthorpe for a while hoping to get a mithril bar drop to use for In Aid of Myreque and ended up leveling my attack by 1 or 2. Oops, just noticed that I still need to meet the 25 herblore requirement for Heroes' Quest. I don't think I have that yet, but it should only take a few minutes to get. Update: Identified a bunch of herbs, killed some red spiders for eggs, made some stat restores and then made some strength pots for 25 herblore. Completed Family Crest and Heroes' Quest. 10/13/07: Im going to do slayer for a while to train my attack. Gained a slayer level or two and several attack levels today. 10/14/07: I completely Ernest the Chicken, Pirate's Rum, and the f2p Al Kharid quest (I forget the name). All f2p quests are now complete. 10/15/07: I did multiple slayer tasks to level my attack. My current goal is to reach 60 attack, do monkey madness, and then train my strength to at least 70. Once I have 60 attack and 70 strength, I'll get a rune defender. 10/16/07: I reached 60 attack while doing a slayer task. After I finished the task, I started Monkey Madness. 10/18/07: Completed Monkey Madness. I did not talk to Daero after finishing the quest so I have plenty of wiggle room when it comes to defense. 10/25/07: I completed In Aid of Myreque and Animal Magnetism. My defense is now 45. [/hide]
  5. Read the Graveyard section of these forums. People post pictures of their kills there, so find a thread where someone has posted a lot of kills and then look at their stats.
  6. Maybe you just answered your own question, level your magic and become one of those tricky mage/range hybrids. You can raise your magic to match your range without affecting your combat level. Maybe try employing tactics like those used in the following video: elvemage mage/range pk
  7. ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃââYour friends say something they think is funny, but you don't get it? I say, "I don't get it". ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃââYou Die in the wilderness, and when you come back the clan kills you? I switch private chat to "friends", switch worlds, and then continue with whatever I was doing prior to the deaths. ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃââA low leveled person came to you and randomly annoys you? I add them to my ignore list.
  8. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson plays various online games. I'd post a link to the article, but there's mild profanity in it. Jens Pulver plays World of Warcraft. For those who don't know both of these guys are professional fighters in the UFC. There are way too many people who play Runescape for there not to be at least a few celebrities who play. Here's a link to the article about George Bush playing Runescape: George Bush Ownz on Runescape (And yes, for those who can't tell, it is not true and is supposed to be funny)
  9. Nice kills. I like how you show your win/loss record in your sig, keep it up.
  10. Of the choices you listed, I prefer choice 3. Someone made a really nice post in the "general discussion" section that shows exp/hr and gp cost/hr of various ranging methods and the bone bolts strike me as an excellent option. Although bronze knives are a little faster, the bone bolts are a ton cheaper. I prefer Lathas ogres over fires because you never lack for targets, there are no distractions at all, and it is completely safe so you don't have to pay very good attention (watch tv while you range).
  11. Here's what I did to *quickly* get my agility into the 50s: 1-25 : Ran the gnome agility course. Once I had 25 agility, I did The Grand Tree quest and got 7,900 agility experience as a reward. This took me to 31 agility. 31-47 : Ran the barbarian course. One could switch to Brimhaven as early as 40 agility, but the barbarian course is quicker. You don't need any food at this course because even though you'll take damage, you never take enough to die. Once I hit 47 agility, I started using the wilderness course. I brought a summer pie with me and ate a bite right before attempting to enter the course (pie gives +5 agility). Once inside the course, I would use normal agility potions when needed to boost my agility to 50 (one of the obstacles requires 50 agility). This sounds like a lot of trouble, but its not. When you use the wildy course at this low level, you gain levels very, very quickly. Note: If you have the reqs, Troll Romance can be done at 28 agility and gives 8000 agility experience. ^^ "Agility for n00bs miniguide"?? :)
  12. Lol, love the honesty and I agree with you. A wannabe mod is far worse than someone who trades items between accounts in my opinion. Is the 40 defense on the bunny ears account from combat or quests? If it is from combat, I'd create a brand new account. bunny ears bunny schmears.
  13. I googled it. It was one of those private Runescape servers where you get 10x exp for stuff, etc. The URL is a dead link.
  14. 1) keep walking 2) add to ignore list 3) nothing
  15. Agreed. My tivo caught the new episode, but it also picked up the "Lord of the Rings episode" - the one with the porno tape. Now that's a good episode, with Butters doing the "my precious" bit.. Hehe..
  16. Why not buy 25k, shoot them, and then buy 25k more if you think you want to shoot more?
  17. When I use guides from other sites it is because they show up in google search results ahead of tip.it. For example, I search for: runescape ghosts ahoy Sal's is right at the top (I believe this is true for any quest) and tip.it's guide is much further down in the results. Also, when I look at the Sal's URL, the ending is: /quests/GhostAhoy.html While tip.it's is: /runescape/?rs2quest_id=89 It is much easier to tell for sure that the Sal's link is what I am looking for than it is with the tip.it link (sometimes I'll click the tip.it link to find that it is for another quest that requires the quest I am looking for). All of that said, for the most part, I prefer the tip.it guides and often find myself going back to them when I get stuck while using another guide. Hope this helps, tip.it is a great site!
  18. "Uh huh huh AC/DC is like cool and stuff, yeah, uh huh huh" "Heh heh heh heh, yeah. Wait, no way you ****wipe, Metallica rules!"
  19. I alched from 55 magic to 80 magic - I think this took roughly 30k alchs. I bought magic logs for 1100 each I bought bowstrings for 150 each (cheap, but I buy in any amount) I bought natures for 285 each I traded my supplies for magic longbows Total cost per longbow: 1535 Alch value of a magic longbow: 1536 Even if you pay 200 per bs and 300 per nat (there is no reason to do this, you can get for cheaper if you try), you still don't lose what you do when you alch yew longbows. yew schmew.
  20. I have looked it up. My understanding is that if I talk to Daero after killing the demon, I get either some defense experience or a lot of defense experience (as well as experience in other stats). I was simply looking for confirmation that if I accidentally engage Daero in a conversation after the quest, I could walk away / exit the convo without getting the experience. I guessed that I could, but just wanted to check.
  21. Thank you very much. :)
  22. It looks like I can do Monkey Madness without getting defense experience if I just don't talk to Daero at the end of the quest. If I choose to go this route, what happens if at some point in the future, I accidentally click on Daero? I'm guessing that a dialog would start and I would still have the option to exit the conversation before receiving the experience, right?
  23. Thanks for the info. Yeah, I wasn't so much concerned about *how* to get 52 prayer as I was about *whether* I should. Raising prayer will raise my combat level. Anyhow, I've decided to take the plunge and have started doing all quests that give defense and prayer exp to get 40-45 def and 52 prayer. After I finish doing that, I'll use the chin method to level my range to 90 or more.
  24. If you spend enough time trying, you can sell anything. I'm sure there is someone in the realm of Runescape who would just love some red vambraces or maybe some addy plate (t), but I truly think that the poster will spend more time than it's worth trying to find those few people. To the original poster - I feel bad for you. If you'd like, add me, and I will give you some stuff to help in your quest for blue mystic.
  25. This probably isn't what you want to hear, but in a word, "No". A set of full red dhide could sell for as much as 50k, but nobody buys just the vambraces. The addy (t) plate is going to be tough to move. I suppose if you spend enough time at the right spot on world 1, you might find someone trying to put a full set together. Rather than try to sell these items, I think you should alch them and then spend your time picking flax and then spinning it into bowstrings. You can sell 1k bs for very close to 200k which you could use to buy your mystic. Good luck.
