  1. Good catch. Apparently we all focused on combat levels and just assumed he met the other requirements (completion of Fremmenik Trials, level 40 agility, level 46 crafting, level 20 construction, and level 56 woodcutting). It doesn't look like the person who asked the question could have even completed Fremmenik Trials yet based on his levels, as it requires level 40 crafting. I guess our answer should have been that as far as combat levels, he should have no problem, but he needs to get his crafting to 40, do Fremmenik Trials, then get crafting to 46, construction to 20, and agility to 40. THEN...he should be able to do the quest fairly easily.
  2. I did it a few weeks ago with 61 attack 56 strength and 60 defense...so it can't be *that* hard. I did not use any pots other than prayer. I think one of the fremmy soldiers gives away strength pots but I had too much food with me to have room for them. I did claim the prayer pots -- and they were very useful. I did almost (but wore a ring of life!) die during the part where you have to kill ten trolls -- I was using melee. I went back in, switched to range and that part was easy (even with 40 range, maple long, and iron arrows!). As others have said before, at the end, don't use protect from melee, use protect from range, eat when you need to (not as much as you think) use prayer pots, (don't forget to claim them from the fremmy guy) and wear the fremmy armor and shield. If I can do it without much problem, it will be easy for you.
  3. This is a very interesting topic. I'm probably one of the odd ones...I'm much less social in Runescape than I am in real life. I would imagine this is because in my real (read: grown up) life, I have a job where I have to talk to people all day; I play Runescape in the evenings and on weekends to unwind. I'm not antisocial; in fact, I'm happy to talk to just about anyone who talks to me, but I don't tend to strike up conversations with players I don't know very often. In real life, I usually talk to anyone and everyone.
  4. If you don't have a Ring of Charos (e), you can still pick your kitten's color if you are willing to spend some money. Buy a kitten from Gertrude for 100 gp and if it isn't the color you want, shoo it away and buy a new one. If this one is the color you want..you have a kitten in your desired color for 200 gp. If not..rinse and repeat until you get the kitten of choice. I have a friend who spent 1,200 gp this way to get an orange kitten (because it looked like her real life cat).
  5. Why does the 70+ boat never (ok, rarely) win? I have given up on it and gone to the 40+ boat.
  6. Thanks to all of you. I thought willows made more sense. I'm at Draynor now cutting away. :D
  7. Can anyone offer an opinion on what will give me the fastest woodcutting xp? I'm currently level 50 and want to reach level 56 so I can do Fremmy Isles. I would think willows would be the way to go, but I have also heard that oaks are faster xp up to level 60.
  8. I've noticed that often someone will announce on the boat that he is opening a clan chat and invite people to join it. On one of the busy pest control worlds, this happens about every 3rd or 4th time you board the boat.
  9. I think when or how players receive key halves is inexplicably random. I had never got a key half until Sunday, when I got a teeth half from Rick Turpentine while killing, of all things, Hill Giants. I hadn't wanted to go in there, but was showing the hill giants to a friend who is level 35 and wants to get her attack up to use rune weapons. I am *so* glad I went. Yesterday, I got a random with, you guessed it, Rick Turpentine again, this time at the moss giants. He gave me the loop half. Go figure (but I'm not complaining!). I've never got one from a slayer task or a higher-level monster, but in less than 48 hours I got two from Rick Turpentine while fighting low-level monsters. That's about as random as it gets. :-k

I've gotten them out of order. I got a large pouch before the medium. You also can get pouches you don't have the RC level to use. I have a giant pouch that I may never be able to use.
  11. You could also try a quest like One Small Favor or Tourist Trap that rewards you with XP in two skills of your choice and use both rewards on agility (or thieving or use one for each). I used both the awards of 4,650 xp from Tourist Trap on agility, which gave me 9,300 agility xp.
  12. You could try Davon's Amulet Store on Brimhaven. It almost always has 0 stock because he doesn't stock it -- the store only gets amulets when a player sells to it. It has been a while since I sold any there, but I think when I last did. he was paying about 1000 gp for defense amulets.
  13. I would go to White Wolf Mountain. If you go to the cave near Port Sarim, the Ice Giants are in an area with Ice Warriors. The Ice Warriors are more aggressive and you will spend half your time fighting them, which will give you no slayer xp. I fought them there when I had them for slayer and got really frustrated. I finally moved to White Wolf Mountain and was able to finish my task fairly quickly. On White Wolf Mountain there is an area with only Ice Giants. The only thing you need to remember is to take a pickaxe with you to move the rockslide near the gliders. Its a bit more complicated to get to them because you have to go up and down the ladders, but its usually empty and you will be fighting only the Ice Giants the whole time. As for the wilderness, I don't see the point of taking that risk when there are areas not in the wilderness that will work just as well.
  14. I felt pretty bad about my level 3 reward that took me four hours last night until I read some of these here! I got a magic comp bow, a rune wc ax and a rune longsword. Although I'm not out any money, I'm not sure the reward was worth all the anxiety. I had 4 or 5 clues to do and I had to mess around with that sextant in the midst of the poisonous spiders in level 35 wilderness and then go back into level 55 wilderness near the mage arena to get all the clues. It was my first foray into the wilderness and I thought I'd be sick....but fortunately I survived. I did have a run-in with a level 48 in the level 35 wildy (I'm level 69). He started attacking me, probably because I wasn't wearing armor or carrying a weapon. He ran pretty fast however, as soon as I pulled out a d long. That was the only entertaining moment of the entire episode.
  15. I don't think quick or easy go with prayer. I thought I'd *never* get to 43...and because it's so tedious to train, I haven't gone much past there. There is only one way in F2P to level prayer that is faster than what you have been doing and that is to buy the big bones and then bury them...but you will be trading a lot of money for that faster xp.
  16. I have pretty much the same question. I have 60 attack and have been using a rune scimi. What is a good first dragon weapon? I have done Lost City, but haven't done Monkey Madness. If it makes any difference, I don't go in the wilderness or stake.
  17. There is a cave a bit north of the city, near where you first found the wanderer. Go in that cave and it will put you in the city. I had to do that more than once during the quest because I kept running out of food. I hate those moving walls!
  18. I think Edgeville is closer. I have never had any problem with PKers going between mind altar and Edgeville. As soon as you go around the mountain, you can cross the ditch (in front of the monastery). If you have a glory, you can tele to Edgeville and only have to run back.
  19. That's hot. Seriously. :D It is so refreshing to be reminded not everyone playing this game is an idiot.
  20. If you are P2P, do Gertrude's Cat, Plague City, and Biohazard quests. Then you can buy kittens for 100 gp each from Gertrude (one at a time) and as soon as they become cats, sell them to a civilian in West Ardougne for 100 death runes. I've got nearly 2000 free deaths this way. Per 100 deaths, the cost is 100 gp for the kitten and the cost of a few shrimp to feed it. Add an air staff and you can cast that spell almost for free.
  21. I got 56 each (with level 1 gloves) at the Brimhaven charter. I had heard you get 112....but they were only offering 56. Anyone know if higher level gloves get you a higher price?
  22. Of course the gender of the character and the gender of the player are not necessarily the same..... I naively thought when I started playing that all "girl" characters were female players and all "boy" characters were male players - not that there was a rule that required this, but because it never occured to me that anyone would do otherwise. Wrong. I figured it out after being asked for the 1,000th time.."Are you a real girl?" Apparently, I must be slow to pick up on these things. And yes, for the record, both my character and I are real girls.
  23. If you have lvl 10 fishing, I highly recommend you do the Fishing Contest quest so that you gain access to the tunnel that runs underneath White Wolf Mountain. You can then use that tunnel to cross to the other side anytime you wish. Unfortunately, you will have to travel to the other side *during* the quest (before you get access to the tunnel), so if the wolves are a problem, either take a lot of food and RUN across the mountain or use the Karamja-Brimhaven-Ardougne route.
  24. I think you stop burning them them somewhere around 50. My cooking level is 54 and its has been a long time since I burned either. If you are burning them, you may want to bank them and cook them later on the range at Lumbridge Castle; it burns less often than other ranges (if you've done the Cook's Assistant quest- a VERY easy free quest).
  25. You could just buy an admiral pie (or make one if your cooking level is high enough) and eat it when you get to the part of the quest where you fish for the lava eels. An admiral pie temporarily increases your fishing level by five levels. You can probably get one from another player for about 1K. The cooking guild is supposed to sell them, but they never seem to have any.
