  1. I have to say, before I had about 47 FPS in GE world 2 in OpenGL with AA and Bloom enabled, now it's a steady 50. I'm loving it!
  2. Performance Improvement Update 10 hours ago Today sees the release of a significant performance improvement update to RuneScape which will improve frame rate and the general game play experience, which has been an issue for some players recently. Performance As many of you will be aware, some our previous anti-bot initiatives caused an adverse affect on the frame rate and performance of the game. The Game Engine Team has been working very hard on solutions to this and the update should bring significant increases in overall playability for the vast majority of those affected, noticeably more so on lower-spec computers. Bots As part of our ongoing effort to combat bots, this update also contains additional adjustments to the engine which will significantly disrupt bots. Future Updates These changes are only part of our ongoing efforts to continually improve the performance of the game, as well as to combat bots, and we have further updates in these areas planned for the next few months. At times we may go a little quiet in these areas - this is because its often hard to share details of what were working on without giving bot makers information that they can use to their advantage. Rest assured, though, that we understand how these issues affect how you play and enjoy the game, so solving them is of paramount importance to us. The RuneScape Team
  3. Your dial up has nothing to do with your FPS. Only your CPU, GPU and memory affect it. On topic, I had steady 50 FPS before, and I still do. No change for me, but I'm happy if other people's FPS is getting better.
  4. 11pm for me. Hopefully I won't fall asleep before it, since I woke up at 5am. I still fear this is Runespan, but I hope for the best!
  5. In before pieces of Runespan fall all over GE.
  6. I actually liked the Moia one more. The Thok one was nice too, just a bit too easy.
  7. The 450 spins area sure to mess up the balance of the economy, then. So, $99,99 is the price you have to pay to mess up the economy.
  8. " For reasons related to the balance of the RuneScape economy, were unable to retroactively offer spins for quests already completed." So, they can sell hundreds of spins, but they can't give questers 300? Nice one. Looking forward to the sagas, though!
  9. Well, the background has a new coat of paint, so could it be some redesign?
  10. Old, but still relevant: CEO Mark Gerhard warns developers of the perils in blindly switching to the increasingly popular funding model. Jagex Game Studios, UK developer of browser MMOG Runescape, has cautioned developers against blindly joining the current rush to the free-to-play model. In recent months, a number of existing and upcoming online games have adopted the free-to-play model, which relies on a small percentage of paying players to effectively subsidise a game's wider userbase by buying virtual items through microtransactions. On average, just three per cent of players do so, but in an interview, Jagex CEO Mark Gerhard tells us that three per cent can spend vast amounts. "[some players] can spend thousands of pounds a month on content - they just have to consume, they have to be number one," he tells us. "But at the same time it's a very small percentage. This is single-digit at best, and that's even fractional. "Then you've got people who'll almost violently never pay: 'I'm going to stick it to the man'. But you need them to balance the game, to get it to critical mass, for virality." While the free-to-play model has proven lucrative in many cases, Gerhard says that developers who think that all they need do is hitch themselves to the bandwagon and sit back and watch their margins skyrocket could be in for a shock. "It's less about what's the right model, less about how to take money from a customer's wallet, and more about what kind of gameplay you have that's conducive to that type of monetisation mechanism," he says. "I think a lot of people say: 'All the successful games are doing this now, so you must, too'. "We've looked at that and said it's the substitute of thinking. If you copy it wrong you might be copying the things that work, but you're probably also copying the things that don't." Gerhard's comments go some way to explaining why traditional publishers experimenting with free-to-play for the first time are reluctant to go all-in, clearly wary of alienating their existing userbases. Blizzard has made World Of Warcraft free-to-play, but only up to level 20 and with several restrictions on game features; when Valve introduced microtransactions to the now-free-to-play Team Fortress 2, the only virtual items for sale were cosmetic, or "vanity" items.
  11. The new shop outlook for you still in school/work. E: The other look:
  12. Why is the same 96 fish req there? They couldn't think of anything more elite than training fishing, because that's soooo what people do in Morytania, fish! [bleep] my life, I should prolly train fishing.
  13. In spring of may 2001, you could choose miner, adventurer etc. I chose adventurer, got a bronze hatchet, tinderbox and some WC levels.
  14. You're sickened because I'm so keen to play RuneScape the way I enjoy the most? You're basically insulting every player which has ever created a pure account. Do level 3 skillers and other pure accounts sicken you as well or is just me? No, a small amount of p2p experience does not 'ruin' an account. I never said it did. A pure f2p clan, like the majority of others, has precise requirements. Requirements should be something all members are consistent with. So having a requirement of being "free from membership" and then accepting people with 7 agility, 9 fletching and 4 thieving is an obvious inconsistency. If you were the leader of a level 3 skilling clan which was been around for years and Jagex released a new compulsory tutorial which required combat to complete, raising the minimum combat level to 5.. Would you at least feel a glimpse of sadness knowing that accounts like yours (as a level 3) will no longer exist, forcing your clan to change their longstanding requirements which led them to becoming such a successful community from the start? We should have complete control over how we play the game and our plans for our accounts in the future, something Jagex is taking away from us as soon as we create it. Why don't you think about that next time you choose to launch another personal attack. I understand your choice and respect it. If you never want to go members, it's completely fine to me. I hold great respect to some F2P'ers out there. But they are not forcing you to train the member skills, and I think over 98% of players don't mind the few levels in member skills. If they find two weeks after playing that there are pure f2p clans and they want to join it, they can reroll a pure f2p character. What I don't understand is the fact that you spit on Jagex for giving a free sample of P2P to the players. I had two friends subscribe because of the offer, and many other MMORPGs use the same system. Most people have really liked the trial, at least the ones I've spoken to. Also, I have a 9hp account. They can't be made anymore. Should I be angry at Jagex because I am one of the few characters that has 9hp? No, I'm proud about it. And seeing as the whole membership thingy is completely optional, I fail to see why u so mad.
  15. I think it's actually sickening how keen you F2Pers are on pure F2Ping. I don't loathe your experiences in F2P, but you guys seem to think that one xp in P2P ruins the character. Why are you so hell bent on being pure F2P?
  16. Now you can get a barbed bow for 90/100d game card.
  17. Before, Torag's and Bandos didn't mix. Now they do. Loving every single percent of this update. Even the citadel xp boosts are awesome! Getting 190,5xp per looming atm, and it will only get better!
  18. Could they actually be closing F2P altogether? They don't get money from loyal F2P players, but servers cost money. Maybe they'll make it like WoW, free testing period and after that you have to pay. They could close all F2P servers, and Jagex doesn't really seem to appreciate the F2P part of the game anymore.
  19. So, if the kiln takes 2 hours and onyx is worth 10M, it would be 5M gp per hour!
  20. I thought the final boss was supposed to be harder than the double Jads. Doesn't sound that way :P All in all, I loved the new quest and I've only gotten like 10 effigies in my whole RS career. Still, I think the change was stupid. Too little, too late.
  21. The advanced barbarian course beam has been slowed down by at least one tick. You can't jump instantly off after cartwheeling to the beam.
