Help put an end to junk trading
socialism? maybe the salad is a bad example and we should use gas prices instead Gas prices are expected to fall into a certain range and companies are allowed to set their own prices which is obvious if you ever have 2 gas stations across the street from each other so what happens if one company decides to take advantage of a temporary shortage in gasoline and raises prices to $6 a gallon just because people are willing to pay it out of necessity? 1. they lose their business 2. they receive a hefty fine 3. they could receive jail time so what makes the equivalent of these shady business practices ok in runescape?

Opinions on Revenants?
My opinion is they're just annoying, I cbf trying to kill them and the fact they they can tb and poison is really annoying if you're deep in the wilderness with little or no food dying while waiting for your teleblock to run out while standing at the winderness level is just a pain in the [wagon] even though all you have to do is tele to ardy and pull the level again

Help put an end to junk trading
that is the truth behind it, all Jagex really needs to do is find a way to make junk obsolete, then update all the G.E prices in quick succession. that way the merchents don't moan, as they can still sell their items on the grand exchange. i actually agree with you there

Odd symbols... Saradomin related to Dragonkin: proof?
the menaphite symbol is the alchemical symbol for gold, and is a representation of the sun obvious choice for desert gods

For the love of Guthix?
no one ever said guthix was the god of peace he has no allegiance and desires balance so if one side became too powerful he would join with the other to restore balance Jagex said Guthix was the god of peace. you and the guy who said Guthix does want followers should really go read the God letters In the Guthix states that he is the god of balance not of neutrality and that he will take up arms if one side ever becomes too powerful so granting followers of guthix powerful items to keep the balance seems only natural, since no follower of guthix would exploit the power thereby upsetting the balance I don't think Guthix should have a godsword considering he slept through the god wars, and i don't think he should have a more powerful item I think he should have an item on par with them, not in outright strength or damage capabilities but with multiple abilities, such as a silverlightesque effect against the armies of zamorak, strong poison/disease or something(ideas?) against saradomin, a weakening effect against bandos, and a decrease in the ranged ability of armadyl, these obviously would only be effective in pvp if the enemy was wielding an item associated with one of those gods

Help put an end to junk trading
QFT. Consider that any item, such as whips, Barrows, or Godswords could be considered junk, but their usefulness doesn't allow it to be defined as such. Introduce some NPC that buys the real junk, like unstrung bows or Javelins at a decent price, and the real problem disappears. Don't you realize that using "junk trading" as a means to "escape" the trade limits is nothing more than a delusion? You're not escaping anything; you're burdening yourself or others with absolutely useless junk for them to get rid of. You are one of maybe two intelligent people posting in this thread

Help put an end to junk trading
What never ceases to amaze me is this; YOU ARE STILL SELLING YOUR ITEMS FOR THE SAME PRICE!!! Though it may seem to a bunch of 13 year olds that selling an item that is set at 3m, along with 47m worth of junk is getting them 50 mil for the item, it isn't. They are still getting 3m for the item. The only difference at all is that they're offloading their junk in the process. This system could makes sense if not for the fact that the junk is totally useless. It cannot be used as currency outside of this kind of trading. To the guy who said something about a $2 salad, the way that works is the same way min-med-max prices work in runescape. You have a realistic range at which such items are expected to be sold, and are able to choose your own price within that range. If you choose to operate outside that range either no one buys your product, or you are shut down for price gouging, which, in the real world, is illegal. The way I see it, on the release of the G.E. Jagex set prices to what they saw as reasonable. This was their attempt to help those players who were not merchants be able to afford some of the better items in the game. Junk trading is the players way of saying a big [bleep] you to Jagex. As far as reasonable prices go, let's look an example. First and foremost, Dragon claws. Let's look at this by comparison to its cousin the DDS. DDS current price is just over 30k, which pretty much everyone agrees is very reasonable for a great spec plus the ability to poison. It can spec four times with the possibility of doing 32 damage each hit and poisoning the opponent. So that's a possibility of 8x32+poison which is 256+ damage. So not too shabby, and great for the price. Now the dragon claws, currently 10m on the G.E. This is pretty reasonable to me considering it's a new rare item, but let's look at its spec also. It can spec twice for four hits each with the possibility of up to 45 damage per hit without poison.(i may be wrong here) So that's a possibility of 8x45 which is 360 damage. Now granted this can, in rare instances of a great spec one-hit KO an opponent, it is still only 70% better than the DDS without factoring in potential poison damage. However even at G.E. prices it is over 300 times the price, and that's just the G.E. price! I would do more, but to be honest I don't know street values, and try as I might I can't find them listed anywhere. So I'll leave off this post with this. Say a very rich played decides to create his own market, and begins buying up rares en mass. He manages to amass so many that he has more than most other players combined.(I know this couldn't actually happen therefore please think hypothetically) That player then decides he wants all 3rd age to be 300m per piece, Godswords to be 500m, spirit shields to be 1b each, and so on. Through the practice of junk trading this becomes plausible, although chances of it ever actually happening are slim to none. (though seeing it done by clans I think is not only possible, but in progress) I have no problem with players wanting to have freedom to drive the market themselves, and I do believe Jagex got some things wrong, but looking at the potential for this to become absolutely horrible, I would rather have Jagex set prices than allow young greedy teenagers to.

For the love of Guthix?
but what about the followers of guthix admittedly guthix doesn't seek followers but knowing that some do follow him i doubt he would allow his followers to face off against whichever faction is shifting the balance wielding staves against godswords

Help put an end to junk trading
not exactly as that still places the prices far out of the reach of most players which is precisely the goal of rare merchants/price gougers by keeping rares out of the reach of conventional scapers they corner the market giving them a monopoly and allowing them to charge whatever they want i do think the g.e. can be underpriced, however it seem to me that a median price between street and g.e. price would be a better starting point if Jagex were ever to change prices, which they likely won't

Help put an end to junk trading
Rune Javs alch for 374 GP. The exchange price is 312 GP plus about 230 for the Nat. 542-374 is a 168 gp loss per Javelin. So I'm pretty sure no one buys them to alch. Besides, I'm already 99 Mage, so why would I be alching? ok terrific i never said people buy them to alch, but if you pick them up off the ground you may as well alch them since no one buys them, they're worth more than a nature rune therefore profit either way this is off topic my point is merchants and rich players are able to use junk trading to set prices to far above what most players can afford would it really be that horrible to make those items more available to players who don't spend every second contemplating ways to scam as much money as they can as quick as they can and before you say junk trading isn't a scam, let me re-iterate; you are still selling the rare for g.e. price, you just force other players to buy your useless junk too it's the equivalent of going to a restaurant, ordering a salad, and being told you also have to buy the bowl, silverware, napkin, table cloth, your chair, the table, and 50 bendy straws otherwise you can go elsewhere this practice would NEVER fly in the real world and any business who tried it would quickly go out of business i mean you could at least use something useful as junk rather than a bunch of stuff to take up room in the buyers bank, that the buyer can't get rid of unless they decide to resell that rare, find another rare, or somehow manage to find someone who actually wants the stuff for some reason

Help put an end to junk trading
what? someone who plays runescape casually, just for fun, not to be rich will never be able to afford third age even though it's easily surpassed by cheaper, better armor and there is really no telling how many sets exist now

For the love of Guthix?
i'm thinking a multi headed flail called the scales of balance which has a different spec depending on what "faction" it's used against

Help put an end to junk trading
Would anyone be happy selling a day 1 D Claw drop for the starting price of 150k? Junk Trading exists because Jagex is WAY off with some of their GE prices. I think Elysian and Divine shields/sigils should instantly be changed to like 500m GE price. Because people are willing to pay that and more in 3rd age for them. you're not paying that price for those things you're buying them for ge prices and then making people buy all your useless junk too as far as networth, there is no change the only reason people see it as making more money is because they're selling all that junk and who says they're worth more than they're set for on the g.e. players seem more and more to think that jagex is clueless about prices and that putting prices in ranges only the extremely rich can ever afford is the correct way to do things runescape isn't meant to be exclusionary jagex doesn't want the items to be out of the reach of players who aren't into merchanting so they set items at a reasonable price then players decide "ZOMG J4G3X 1S T3H N00BZ0RZ taht itemz shud be moar!!!!" the reason things are the way they are now is because rich players are allowed to set the prices as they choose, thereby placing these items in a trade range only those who play the way they do can afford a casual runescape player will never be able to afford third age, even though it isn't even good armor, and is nowhere near as rare as it used to be

For the love of Guthix?
guthix is the most powerful of the gods, it stands to reason that those who follow his ways would have the power to keep neutrality between the other gods as it is now other gods' followers could pwn guthix's except maybe the dwarves, they have cannons

Help put an end to junk trading
those are good ideas makoto, i also think a way to rid ourselves of junk would be great my thought was if we could get enough people to refuse junk then the scale would rise and if we use the ge the prices will rise on it allowing for the use of less junk and eventually phasing it out altogether

Help put an end to junk trading
i know we can't do it alone, but if you want it to happen, then join in, and convince your friends to do the same if each person who is willing can convince one other person it could spread like wildfire and like i said, rich players can take the hit without too much damage to their coin piles

Help put an end to junk trading
ok so how many of you have come across a rare item, and naturally were ecstatic at this new found source of riches, only to realize "i don't have millions worth of junk to be able to sell this with!!!!!!" so what do you do? either you spend an inordinate amount of time gathering junk just to sell your rare, or you dump in on the g.e. and take a profit loss so how do we solve this problem? how can we possibly find some way to sell items for what they're worth? well the simple solution to this, is we can't due to merchers and junk traders the "true value" of rares is much much higher than their g.e. value it seems every new item released now has its price gouged to the ridiculous but who decides an item's true value? the first person to get the item? do they automatically become the sole judge and jury on what an item should cost? i say it's time to end the practice of setting the "true value" of items high above their g.e value making them only available to players who find it beneficial to waste time gathering tons of useless junk just to eat up the extra value so my suggestion is this STOP JUNK TRADING!!!!!!! and start using the g.e. insist on cash only trades and blatantly refuse to have anything to do with junk this will force price gougers to lower their prices while forcing g.e. prices to rise with the new influx of items while i know a lot of players are thinking "why would i want to lose (insert amount) gold by doing this when i can use junk" think about it, the junk you gather has the same value as the extra gold being added to the rare item's cost you're not increasing your profit, you're just selling your rare for its market price and the a ton of junk for its respective price nothing is gained by this, and it is in turn one of the biggest problems with the g.e. so start selling and buying rares on the g.e. help adjust prices to a level where everyone can be satisfied!!!! i for one certainly will, and will even post pictures to prove it and i encourage others to do so as well for discussion value, what is your opinion on this? and what suggestions might you have to improve the process? i think all of runescape will ultimately benefit from this though it may seem like a loss to some players at first (but honestly if you're rich enough to deal in rares you're rich enough for this not to leave you broke)
