I just go on facebook to read through my wall and chat sometimes. I haven't changed my status since the day before Black Ops. Siggy'd :)
  2. Could be a graphics card problem. Do you have a dedicated card or integrated? Can you run other 3D games?
  3. If anyone here has GIMP and knows how to use the color replace tool, could you please take the map and replace every color (except the ocean and black) with pure green (255G, 0B, 0R). I've been trying to do it one click at a time, but my hand is about to fall off. @Archi - I didn't mean to sound defensive, I agree both systems have flaws, that's why I'm trying to create a system that works well without being a nightmare to manage.
  4. Map is taking me forever, there something like 2000 provinces, which I have to fill in, then decide what value they should have, then refill them.
  5. AIG never worked because the infrastructure system was flawed. Your country could get chopped in half, and you could just dump all your remaining money into Infra. and it would all be fixed. With the province system you at least know the value of the land you conquered. Dusty's province system was flawed though because land in the African desert was equal to farmland or forests. With this I've tried to combine the two so you have provinces with different values and and an infrastructure system so land isn't everything.
  6. I believe Dusty wanted to be one of the allies. It'd be nice if we could get sere back to play as Russia too. As for changing teams, In this alternate history, WWI did break out, but had relatively little fighting. The stalemate lasted for 4 years, and on November 11, 1918, a white peace was signed between all nations. Japan and China are still at war, but the rest of the world is in a temporary, unstable peace. Betraying your allies is allowed, but there will be consequences, and the NPCs on your side will likely turn on you. All NPC's will be proxied by me, and will defend themselves, send troops to aid their side, and occasionally attack if the game gets dull.
  7. @Retech - I see what you mean now. I have a separate map with the province values, I'm just in the process of balancing it. This really is my last post, I'm getting yelled at for supper.
  8. Was this directed at me or the earlier posts? I've never said you couldn't customize your armies, and in fact I will take such things into consideration during battle reports. Nation names aren't on the map for the simple reason that I never got around to it. Tomorrow when I create the real thread, it will have an atlas with info on all the player countries, along with major NPC countries.
  9. Secret research takes longer as you have to hide it from people. I may have confused you with the different province values. The only resource that matters is money, those that I gave were just examples. Same with Infrastructure, the value just represents the general level of industry and tech in your nation. Ive got to go for supper. The rest of the rules will be up tonight. Once again, feel free to voice your opinion if you don't like something, I'm open to change.
  10. We have a small problem here, that being we have 5 central powers, 1 independent power, and no Allies. Anyone know the naval ships of the WWI era?
  11. New Iberia is Spain, Japan and China are there too. There was supposed to be a section called Independant Powers, I must have deleted it by accident. So ICU is USA, Rocco is Italy, Mather is Scandinavia and Archi is Germany. We need more Allied players. Austria is the Green-Brown County, and The Ottoman Empire is purple. Economy works like this. There are 5 province values, Gold is worth 1,000,000 , and represents rare resources like gold, diamonds or high industry areas. Green is worth 500,000 and represents industry, or resources like coal, sulfur and other valuable materials. Yellow is worth 250,000 and represents fertile farmland, resources like iron and lumber, and other important but common goods. Orange is worth 50,000 and represents low quality farmland and other livable but not valuable land. Red is worth a measly 10,000 and represents areas like desert, tundra, swampland, and other generally worthless land. This total is then multiplied by your industrial level, which is based on how modern your nation's infrastructure is. For example, China has a lot of land, but a a low infrastructure score, while Italy has less land, but a higher infrastructure score. Research is split into five branches. Army, Navy, Defense, Infrastructure and Industry. To research something new, you must post a plan that states the estimated time to research, the costs, and what the tech will do. Secret research is allowed, but will slow down research time.
  12. Ok, the countries are up now, if anything is missed, feel free to call me on it. You may now pick your country. I need to know who is playing and which nation they want so I can create an 'atlas', if you will. The first turn begins tomorrow at 12:00 noon GMT - 6, a new turn starts every midnight GMT -6. One year = 4 turns, every year budget resets will happen. Im being called right now, so more info to come in an hour or so.
  13. I present to you, the map of the World, circa. January 1919 Allied Powers The Confederacy of America (Presidential Dictatorship) Mexico (Democracy) Brazil (Presidential Dictatorship) The United Kingdom (Constitutional Monarchy) -India -Free States of Africa France (Democracy) Belgium (Constitutional Monarchy) Russia (Communist State) - Romania Australian Union (Constitutional Monarchy) Serbia (Monarchy) Luxembourg (Constitutional Monarchy) Quebec (Democracy) Central Powers United States of America (Democracy) Columbia (Democracy) Netherlands (Monarchy) Germany (Monarchy) Austria (Monarchy) Ottoman Empire (Islamic Caliphate) Scandinavia (Socialist Republic) Venezuela (Presidential Dictatorship) Union Of Central American States (Democracy) Bulgaria (Monarchy) Albania (Monarchy) Montenegro (Monarchy) Italy (Fascist State) Independent States Japanese Empire (Monarchy China (Monarchy) New Iberia (Socialist Republic) Siam (Monarchy) Abu Dhabi (Monarchy) Oman (Monarchy) Ethiopia (Tribal Monarchy) Switzerland (Monarchy) Peru (Presidential Dictatorship) Nepal (Monarchy) Bhutan (Monarchy) Afghanistan (Tribal Union) Chile (Presidential Dictatorship)
  14. It's a really fun game if you get into it. I've probably played about 20 games, I usually end up getting too much BadBoy and get stomped by the UK. I did get to the end once with Brazil in 5th place. I had all of S. America except for the European Colonies. I ended up winning a war against the USA, by luring troops into the amazon and picking off divisions with a 250k death-stack. I then forced America to give me Hawaii and accept Humiliation. Playing as minors is usually more fun than playing a GP, as you have more you can achieve. Brazil makes a great first country, so does France in the ACW scenario. Playing France from the start is a pain in the ass though as the Liberal Revolution makes rebels spawn excessively.
  15. DX 10 and 11 require Vista or 7. Most games come with the latest version of DX on the disk, if you still can't find it, try right-clicking explore on the disk drive, and there will probably be a DX folder there.
  16. I believe FF works on Macs too. If you are having problems with the CPU heat, you may want to turn the CPU usage to medium or even minimal. I find it funny how a $1000+ laptop has a hard time running runescape...

When is the next session? I kinda want to sit in and observe how this is played.
  18. I never bought revolutions, but I assume it's the same as vanilla. The ships must be at sea, there must be enough room for the troops, and the transports must be in one fleet if the army is too large for one ship. You then select the troops, right click on the naval province the ships are in, and they will board.
  19. I'll be starting this tomorrow, probably around around 10:00pm GMT. The map is near done, I just have to balance some provinces and get the province value map ready.
  20. Not sure about the software, but you would need a sound card with a MIDI port. Although they do make USB MIDI Keyboards now.
  21. Check to make sure the connection is tight if it's a VGA or DVI connector. If not, try opening up the computer and checking the connection on the graphics card.
  22. Looks good for people who want a netbook, but I can't see it catching on as a mainstream OS.
  23. How many people are actually interested in A Time For Glory? I really don't feel like spending a weekend working on it if no one want's to play. If there is interest, Im more than happy to do it though.
  24. Thanks. I saw the .png at the end and figured it was the right page.
