  1. Metallica is one band that makes me particularly despondent. Personally I find everthing they've ever written to be insipid rubbish.

    Piano

I've taught myself on a Yamaha PSR-175 keyboard. Although it sounds rather horrid, it's sufficient for learning on. In the months I've been playing I have only learned a few pieces, such as Kalmah's "Swamphell", Heavenly's "Miracle" and Fur Elise. I can also play myriads of keyboard "riffs" (for lack of a better word) coming from acts such as Skyfire, Children of Bodom, Norther, and of course Kalmah. Having that said, I would be progressing much faster if I dedicated myself to the instrument. However, I feel I am much more of a guitar player at heart, so piano is likely to remain as a secondary instrument to me for quite a protracted period of time. :P
  3. Lost Horizon - "The Highlander" The unparalleled adepts of power metal.
  4. I play lead guitar and keyboard in a blues-rock band comprising of a few friends and I. We've yet to record anything of any significance, but regardless, we're waiting until December this year before beginning the serious songwriting. Until then, we're just going to experiment for the most part.
  5. Here are the bands I mainly listen to: Dark Moor Dissection Emperor Enslaved Heavenly Hibria Jag Panzer Kalmah Kamelot Manilla Road Mercyful Fate Morbid Saint Nocturnus Nokturnal Mortum Norther The Rolling Stones Rush Sacramentum The Smiths Summoning Tad Morose
  6. "The Skull Collectors" by Hibria is definitely my favourite album of the year. I actually prefer it to their debut.
  7. Paranoid: Very High Schizoid: High Schizotypal: High Antisocial: Moderate Borderline: Low Histrionic: Low Narcissistic: High Avoidant: High Dependent: Low Obsessive-Compulsive: High Honestly, I expected avoidant to be ranked at "very high".
  8. My favourites are: Power: Dark Moor, Hibria, Manilla Road, Nocturnal Rites, Running Wild, etc. Thrash: Dark Angel, Morbid Saint, Kreator, etc. I can't say I've dug very deep in any metal genre, so I've yet to find many of the gems.
  9. Running Wild - "Black Hand Inn" (album)
  10. Band: Dark Moor Album: Hall of the Olden Dreams Still your favourite?: Yes, I like this and The Gates of Oblivion equally.
  11. @SilverSword: You seem to like melodeath and some folk metal. I think you should try Suidakra. At the moment I'm looking for atmospheric black metal and progressive rock/metal (I don't have a Last.fm, but I hope that helps).
  12. Emperor - "In the Nightside Eclipse" (album)
  13. The live video was excellent, great job. Loving the raw, sinister, yet mystical sound. By the way, I was reading some Mirror of Madness reviews on encyclopaedia metallum and it turns out one of them appears to be yours. :o
  14. I really liked all the songs you posted; "Amidst the All Consuming Flame" was perfect! You have a lot of potential. I'll try to download your demo as soon as possible.
  15. Dinged 50 on my mage last night, the Water Elemental's pretty damn awesome. Anyone know where I could continue levelling? I've finished all the quests in the Hinterlands and WPL barely has any quests at all (as far as I know).
  16. Finally got round to continuing my Mage after what seemed to be a month or so. I'm level 46 with 4 1/2 days played which I reckon is quite good. I'd probably level much faster if I'd stop getting involved in so much World PvP/BGs; sometimes I travel around areas for the sole purpose of finding Alliance to kill...
  17. I think I have agoraphobia and cynophobia (or whatever "fear of dogs" would be-- can't be bothered checking). My cynophobia can be problematic. If I see an unsupervised dog, I'll immediately walk the opposite direction (or at least try to avoid it when absolutely necessary) regardless of where I was supposed to be going. Another problem is that dogs (usually the larger ones) sometimes smell my fear and as a result they begin to follow/chase me. I've been chased by dogs on numerous occasions... it's actually kind of funny when I think about it, but to me the experience can be very frightening.
  18. 1) Nokturnal Mortum 2) Nocturnus 3) Dark Moor 4) Immolation 5) Abigor 6) Morbid Saint 7) Tangerine Dream 8) Alex Rudi Pell 9) Dark Angel 10) Eluvium I've also been listening to Tangerine Dream after Adio's posts about them and I must say the music's brilliant. I've also been listening to Eluvium and some other ambient artists. Nice change from all that extreme music I've been listening to for such a long time.
  19. Name Of Song: Perun's Celestial Silver Artist: Nokturnal Mortum Album: Lunar Poetry
  20. Care to explain a bit? Just wondering. Nightwish: They've written some excellent songs, however, the majority of their work lacks feeling and doesn't really go anywhere. Opeth: Their music is dull, repetitive and sometimes pretentious. My opinion, of course. Pink Floyd: Undoubtedly a great band, but there were many other great bands in their time that were overlooked. Also, I wouldn't say Dark Side of the Moon is one of their best albums, yet everyone seems to praise it. I'm not very good at getting my feelings/thoughts onto paper (or in this case a message board) but I hope I've made things clear.
  21. What do you dislike about Dark Moor? I personally think The Hall of the Olden Dreams is one of the best power metal albums out there. However, if you're aiming the comment at their later work, I can sort of agree. Anyway, here are all the main bands which I think are overrated: The Beatles Death Dragonforce Necrophagist Nightwish Opeth Pink Floyd Queen Rhapsody of Fire (I used to love them but have now realised how monotonous and uninspired their music is)
  22. Children of Bodom were my portal to the metal genre. I still love Something Wild, but most of their other albums don't seem to have as much of an appeal as they used to. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was my portal to classical. I've yet to thoroughly explore other genres (I wouldn't say I've thoroughly explored metal or classical, for that matter).
  23. Luca Turilli - "Rider of the Astral Fire"
