  1. RuneScape is written in Java. It's a full programming language, you can make other programmes with it too, not just games. It's very complicated with a lot to learn. Java is not related to Javascript, that's a scripting language for web browsers. I suggest you should probably start with something simpler, as getting your head round how programming works can intially be a struggle. Something simple (relatively speaking) like PHP can get you started. Even learning HTML is a good idea, so you understand how it all works. HTML is incredibly simple, you can learn it in 20 minutes.
  2. Clare recommended this setup in a topic (not to me personally): avast! antivirus Comodo firewall Ad-aware It's pretty good, does the job as well as if not better than the paid for anti-malware software.
  3. Personally I don't have a problem with it, maybe I've now decided that 6 lines is fine? Perhaps all the mods have? Let us worry about signatures, the report function is there to help the mods, not order us around.
  4. Whoever deals with the report deals with it, that's none of your business to coerce.
  5. Again, you completely misunderstood me. I mean we don't have time to take a screenshot, and edit it accordingly to find out exactly how many pixels your text takes up. Of course we check how large the images are, all we need to do is right click>properties and it's done. The text, as has been stated before, is down to discretion, most mods probably base it on the amount of lines and total space it makes up, if that's reasonable or not.
  6. We don't treat anyone differently because of status on the forums; I'd remove Silverion's signature if it were oversized, and he'd understand perfectly. As for you revealing that yours and EMR's signatures are the same pixel height, I don't think any of the staff have the time to check things like that. We use our best guesses and judgement, you were using two images and larger text, as Tripsis said above. EMR was using one max size image and 6 lines with smaller text. It's up to the discretion of the moderator.
  7. We can't add a skin just because one person doesn't like the current ones.
  8. I'd say a new graphics card or new processor. A core 2 duo is pretty cheap now, and it's a big upgrade from the pentium d.
  9. Web of Trust is a trust meter, it's used my thousands of people, and a website earns a rating based on the average it scores from everyone. If it has a bad score, that's because a lot of people think it's a bad site for whatever reason. It's an accurate and trustworthy tool.
  10. I wish I grew up in the 70's, with decent music, but with all the technology of today.
  11. Your JaGEx cache stores game files as you play, so next time you go there it can get the files quickly from your pc rather than more slowly from the server. It also helps with the actual servers' performances, think about all the people trying to access the servers, the load would be huge, this helps to lighten the load.
  12. I think I've managed to get it working again. I got angry and went nuts, deleting everything I could find relating to Windows Live Messenger, then installed msn 8, it seems to work. Now I've got to try and update it to the latest version, the one I had before it stopped working.
  13. I use it because everyone else does. That's why people use Windows.
  14. I did that too, downloaded the previous version before the 8.5 beta, it wouldn't let me log in, forced me to upgrade.
  15. Then I don't think there's a way to alert you, other than manually checking your inbox. I'm probably wrong though, a quick google search would give you an answer if it's a common problem.
  16. That's the default setting for it. I assume you mean when you have msn messenger open? If you get an email you'll get a little popup telling you. If you're not getting the sound try finding the settings for it in the options.
  17. That's what it says to me, it won't let me log in. If I click yes it upgrades and I can't log in. If I say no it won't let me log in, and asks me if I want to upgrade. Rinse and repeat.
  18. That's what I did, it didn't work. It forces you to upgrade to the latest version, anyway.
  19. My msn was perfectly fine until this morning. It prompted me to upgrade to the latest version, I thought, 'sure, why not?'. Mistake. I downloaded the latest version, I believe it's 8.5 Beta. Installs ok, when I go to sign in, it comes up with an error that the servers are temporarily unavailable or something similar, and gives the error code '8000ffff'. I've googled it, tried all the solutions, they don't work. So I system restore my pc back a few days, with the old version. However, it loads fine, logs in... fine (more about that in a sec), the task bar icon works fine. However when I open the main msn window: [hide=][/hide] The thing is black, like there's a small gradient at the top that's been stretched down the face of it. The several buttons there are clickable. What the hell is wrong with it? I've tried closing it and restarting, un/reinstalling and other stuff. Thing is, apart from this, the programme seems to have installed fine, the log in screen and aforementioned task bar look normal. I'm running Vista 32 Home Premium, 3GB RAM, Pentium D 2.8GHz, nvidia 9500GT. Ask for any more system info you need. Any ideas? I'm stumped.
  20. Yeah, it's a Java issue. I had the same problem of any java applets crashing Firefox when I had the imageshack tool bar installed.
  21. If you're replacing/upgrading something on an already built computer, when you first open the case, remember where all the wires and things go. It saves so much time later on if you're not sure on wire connections and the positions of expansion cards etc.
  22. If your current virus scan doesn't work, hard restart (turn the power off at the switch or hold the power button in a few seconds), then at the boot screen choose Safe Mode, and run the virus scan then.
