PVM I'm surprised they didn't mention revenants, just because their combat levels aren't over 300 to be able to butcher unprepared players it a couple of hits it doesn't mean they aren't smart - i was frozen by a knight yesterday and was pretty shocked to see it move back out of my melee range and start maging/ranging me! I'd say be careful what you wish for... if a monster were to arrive that combined the qualities of all of the slightly smarted ones we have already, though it would still be predictable, it would prove quite a challenge, The AI will never be able to outwit you as such, not in this age, but being frozen and ranged, teleblocked to prevent escape, switching weapons to get through prayer, having to muster up that killing blow because they "eat" AND incorporating whatever special equipment jagex decides you need to kill them... intelligent or no you can't deny that wouldn't be a challenge - and i can't wait for it! =D

Like everyone is really bound to say, a bit of both for me too, I base everything around having fun (questing, exploring new updates, general slaughter etc etc) but there's no doubt that you can have more fun at higher levels, so sometimes it's worth hacking away at something boring for a couple of days in order to have the options that a higher level brings, i bought a ton of ore and forging rings to make iron knives to get 70 smithing for addy from about lvl 63 (its rather strange watching your level raise purely on smelting lol)

I like the article, though it sounds like the author was a little oversensitive about being called a noob lol, my combat's now 120 and i still get called a noob when i don't give someone 3k, noob and newb have become 2 completely different words since the flood of younger players

omfg lulz zomg m0nst3r fl4w y0u f0nd. d3l3t3 run3sc4p3 n0w! :lol: i agree with him though when training normaly you dont need the ekstre what 20+ or 10+ att bonus ;) its not an extra +10 or +20 attack bonus though, it's more like a +50/60 bonus using a whip in attack and strength AND an increase in speed EDIT: there's a 54 difference in attack, and 34 difference in strength, not to mention the -35 to all defence just from your amulet slot before you start, all it comes down to is opinion - and in my opinion even if the +20% increases your max hit... hitting an extra 1 damage isn't worth -54 attack and -35 defence, good day.

The necklace/obby wep combo was overrated in the first place, don't forget that the necklace lowers all of your defence and attack stats quite considerably, the drop in stats from a whip and a fury is far greater than 20%, not to mention the speed, so ignoring it seems to be quite logical

i think thats a pretty good outlook - i mean we play runescape to escape real life - so at some point we're bound to put it first

every time it goes down people say about rollbacks, they didn't rollback when people were slaughtered around falador so they're very unlikely to rollback now, the 347 people on are simply because of the crash/lag - there is obviously no-one on i've played since classic, albeit with a few month(s) breaks, and never experienced a rollback

its looked down upon because it's the most expensive combat skill and many people won't ever be able to obtain a decent level in it

erm, if you're making them eat twice anyway aren't they gonna run outta food pretty quick?

i havn't checked if anyone has suggested this yet, but a lot of games (halo 3 online comes to mind) lets you choose between uncensored and basically "free" chat, although this is actual headset communication and stuff, i'm not sure if there'd be any specific issues applying to text based chat, why not do that? have worlds that are free chat for over 18's, and censored for the younger audience... yes i know younger players would cheat it, but that's how the interent works, its not runescape's problem

although it really depends on the situation, i think the longsword wins the most situations, it can stab and slash effectively while the scimitar can only slash with any hope of hitting and the scimitar special is barely ever useful, while 4 longsword specials can give you some extreme power (i use it for bringing down revenants)

yes this is the same as "racism" however in runescape it's easier to see that it's just common sense, people discriminate that the higher level players are better because they ARE actually better.

like someone before said, be careful, i've gone quite far into runescape/online dating and even when you've known someone for months... you only really know what they've chosen to show you, i've known people fake death's and lie about ages - one girl i actually met turned out to be nearly old enough to be my mother and had been using all kinds of fake pictures, and i promptly recieved a lot of threatening phone calls and death threats from her husband however another girl i went to meet her family and her turned out to be some of the lovliest people i've ever met and will always be good friends on mine for many years to come

As a PS3 owner i can state you're completely wrong in your analysis, so far i've seen a single game that looks pretty but doesn't play well (the darkness), like the other guy said resistance fall of man IS the best fps i've ever played to me and the graphics count for a hell of a lot of that. It's not "greedy developers" it's called technological advancement, without which none of this would be here in the first place, Some people can't afford, some people just wanna stick with what they're used to, that's fine until they believe their completely untested opinion holds weight. If you don't wanna shell out for next-gen or take the time to source decent games like your 10 years watching would suggest then fine, but WE are and WE'RE enjoying it.

No chesire i think we can safely say no-one really gives a damn about comma's and correct grammar here or even thinks about proofreading and critising other's for the most pedantic possible mistakes, we're here to talk about rs. He/she/it has a lot of valid points, of course graphics aren't everything, but it's easy to see that games don't follow a set pattern, some games are for fun and some are more serious, runescape is bad - but its a huge multiplayer game its never relied on graphics PS3/xbox360 are incredible - but you aren't playing with 250,000 other players every time you play it.

I've met some great people in my years of playing, one of whom i'm now closer to real friends with rather than rs friends, I've been on the other side as well though, About a year ago i fell in love, online, through rs moving on to all sorts of messengers (sad i know), after about 4 months i found out she had an accident, was ill, and died a week later, i had some major conflicts with one of her friends shortly after and after a while she told me she hadn't died at all, then changed the story that she did actually and she just said that to get back at me, Being the fool that i am, i never saw her through a webcam, only calls and a couple of pictures, so to this day i'll never know whether she's alive or dead, whether they were who they said they were at all or anything, It's taught me that you can have some of the best friendships online, as well as the most sickening betrayals, it works both ways just like life EDIT: not naming names btw, that's rude lol

I've been playing nearly 6 years now and to be honest i find it rather demeaning that someone with a total level under 1000 and only a single month of membership believes they can speak on behalf of the majority of older players, I don't play as much as i used to with that hardcore newbie feeling but i always manage to find something to do and enjoy myself

3 digit combat level, got it, Enough GP to buy any useful and worthwhile armour i need, got it, All quests, got it, 70 mining, 85 fletching, He's spot on goals really don't count for anything in a game like this, fortunately my goals were slightly more modest back in the old days than this 99-buying rubbish =P However speaking as someone who works a full-time time week, saturday's ALWAYS make life better mr. editor........

I think this is the right place, been looking for a long time and i can't praise the layout of these forums. Heraldic equipment DOES NOT seem to have any effect on whether you get attacked or not, could be the combonation of items but even in the guide here it doesn't mention it.

Paying by text message is extortionally expensive compared to the others do your parents not trust rs in general or not trust using their card details online? If it's the latter then paying by phone instead can save you a couple quid.

What most of you don't seem to realise is that english is the most dominant language in the world (thanks to the british empire), because this is not the "right" thing but it is the practical and sensible thing, The game will not become much more language-friendly because the rest of the world becomes more english-friendly, While that's incredible discrimination you have to realise that germans speaking english isn't like english speaking german, germans are taught english since they are extremely young and you'll rarely find one that "can't speak a world of english" because the english are they only ones who can not speak a word of another langauge and get away with it pretty much anywhere in the world, unfortunately the majority of us english and amercians are just too ignorant to realise that that is fact and it is so because it makes communication between people better, everything adapting to different languages, too much at least, would have the opposite effect.

In this case i think that jagex made these worlds to appease the majority of people by showing they DO take notice of international players and DO things about any issues, They made these worlds under pressure from the majority i believe, however it isnt going too far to say that in any situation when a mojority comes together they want what is right, not what is practical or smart, I wouldn't say these worlds are pointless, for the point is to accommodate the small amount of dutch who aren't english-literate enough to play (though you wonder how they'd start playing in the first place), They aren't pointless, but they certainly aren't needed and i highly doubt jagex would make any more than they have already, for reasons you've pointed out.
