  1. Make sure you only play on the servers which are closer to your location. If you live in England, play/train on the England servers. I understand why you would want such a system in place, but it would be easily abused and in the end it is a Client Side problem (Most of the time -.- )
  2. Lag, Usually a client problem (you) not server side. However, if there are many entity's in one area, lag is can occur, happens in all games because you are having to retrieve more information from the server. Possible reasons for slow connection... ISP People in your area online at same time (Some ISP have to compensate for all) Downloading/Uploading something else at the same time Operating behind a proxy Playing on a server which is far away from where you are located and so on
  3. The calculator isn't under accessories in Linux Ubuntu -.- I agree that it would just make a mess of the trade screen. It wouldn't be used as much as you think aswell.
  4. That brings up another question... Do certain randoms occur in some places more than others? Because the only randoms i get in SoS are the Evil Twin Sister and the Pop Quiz one.
  5. I am now starting to predict when randoms happen in the SoS it always happens when i expect it to as well. Kill many minotaurs then bury bones. Randoms do not seem as random as they should be in my opinion.
  6. It wont be leaving them out if you have the option. The option for big or small res screens.
  7. lol, its like me, i tend to drift in between games, RS for 4 months, then CS:S for a year or so :P That happens allot with people :
  8. I think we have another one today. The sound for when you get hit while wearing armour is different, what you guys think? I know the sounds has definetly changed.
  9. I listen to online radio (Chronix) it's all alternative rock and metal, perfect for training
  10. Same scenario happened to me. I was is SoS, and some guy (level 19) took a liking to me and asked me to show him the way to the next stage. Well he dies, and i feel sorry for him, so i give him 200K and some steel goods for him to use. then..... Him : Hay man, thanks so much for your donation Me: Np mate, i hope you will find use for it Him: Why did you give me so much? Me: Because i felt you could use it, i might not know you, but i want to be kind. Him: Ohhhh man, mind if i have some more money plz? Me: Buddy i just gave you 200K ... Don't be greedy now. Him: Oh stfu then n00b, you = gai It's a shame, that so many out there can feel they need to be greedy, i try to be friendly, but when you have people like this around it is near impossible:( When Jagex went along with Miniclip they signed an agreement to get swamped with immature children who are rude/arrogant/greedy
  11. i have this mouse myself http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/mice_ ... 5&cl=us,en i love the look of yours though, how does it fair in games like CS:S (if you play FPS that is)
  12. i found one today, in the SoS, the Gate of War is now bigger (theres a top bit been added)
  13. i would be happy if you could add me, Oh!, and can i make a wallpaper out of this? Please? here is my pic sorry you can't see my scimi well
  14. So here it goes, i "nearly" lost my account some dude asks me to join his clan, and he asks me for my MSN, so we share MSN info, then we speak over it. He sends me a link, saying i should register, (what he didn't know is i serve for the underground of the web, and i know all about phising webpages) So i enter some swear words as my details. Guys out there, be careful of this scam to get your account.
  15. Just wandering, with phpBB RC3 out (and probably final soon), will you be planning to swap over to it?
  16. Now i don't know what you lot feel about this, i however feel that the sounds in the game are a bit dull and old/retro sounding. For instance when you get wounded, it sounds like a cat  Please don't flame me in this thread, but i think they could make a sound update, not everything, but a few sounds for the monsters to make the game more atmospheric. What do you guys think?
  17. I fully support this guide, there could be, before you log in a check box asking whether or not you want to play in the higher resolution, this way it wont make anything unfair at all.
  18. No but thats the way i live in life ;) sorry if it upsets you though.
  19. ^ thanks, this is the first guide i ever made I hope you guys don't mind the format i put it in. Today i will be updating it with more ways you can stay safe, enjoy
  20. ^ what has being a chicken feather got to do with anything :?:
  21. Oh man, Yeah, I'm so stupid :wall: :wall: :wall: I just woke up and i was already in this forum, sorry about the mix up, Moderators please move if you wish, and sorry for wasting your time.
  22. I am a Underground member in the internet world, and after serving 4 years to it i have learned the many ways you can keep your computer protected. And i would like to share what i know with you. Now some of you might already know this stuff, or be more knowledgeable than me, But i would still like to offer my advice, hopefully someone can use it :) Now i will talk allot in this thread, i just hope none of you start flaming me  Ok, First things first, If you are playing RS on either a Mac or Linux OS then you are not required to read this, I'm sure you know why  [hide=Anti-Virus Software] Get a good Anti-Virus program! I can not stress this enough to other people i talk to, even in real life. If you are a Runescape player and you use Nortan, or McAfee, then i suggest you uninstall those worthless pieces of junk right away. Get something like Kaspersky or NOD32. You want to stay safe don't you? And i am sure you want your system to run at it's full potential. NOD32 is perfect, it updates itself (even if your using a cracked version like myself) It doesn't use up as much system resources and it can take care of any malicious code/software effortlessly, just today it picked up a trojan on my PC and a good one for that matter, and all i had to do was click once and that was the end of that. If you are worried about cost, then, download it with a crack, simple as that. NOD32 and Kaspersky (I have used both) are so easy to use and so quick at tackling down Viruses.[/hide] [hide=How Your Information is Taken] If you ever wandered how Runescape information gets taken, then read this and learn how they work. The best step to protecting yourself is knowing what your up against. Keylogger : These are little applications (known as a server, when on the victims PC) Which will record your keystrokes/chat logs/web sites visited/passwords and then send them via E-mail or FTP (File Transfer Protocol) In most cases it will be the FTP, what then happens, is the person who set up the keylogger can then log into the web space, and download the logs. These logs can then either be opened in a web browser it's self or in the program it was created with (client) Trojan : You do not want these on your computer, These are deadly (in computer terms) A trojan is a keylogger + so much more... Some "hackers" will use a Trojan program such as PoisonIvy to create a package (server) which they then send to you. When you are online, the creator will be notified on the program (client). With a successful connection, they can see live screenshots, check the logs (in keylogger terms) and even uninstall software and download your files. They can take control of your PC, sounds scary huh? But with the right Anti-Virus programs you shouldn't need to fear. How it gets into your machine :Getting a keylogger/trojan server onto your PC really isn't all that hard. The hacker might be-friend you, gain your trust, then he/she might ask you to test something for them, and you accept the file. Other ways include from downloads from the web or with P2P applications like Limewire. As soon as you double click the [Caution: Executable File], it will "melt" into a folder, most commonly "C:\WINDOWS", where it then can either spread deeper into your machine or stay as it is, recording your logs or telling the hacker when you are online. Hopefully, if you have a decent Anti-Virus, it will pick it up, but this isn't always the case, There are further tools a "hacker" can use to make there deployable server undetectable, however those applications are hard to come by, and some don't even work. There are other terms and other tools a hacker can use, but i doubt you will run into those as long as you have the correct set up, which you can read bellow.[/hide] [hide=A guide to prevent them by AWCADDET] This is only a small guide, i will update in time. Internet Browser If you are using Internet Explorer, then you are very vulnerable to infiltrations via the many loop holes in the browser, Get Mozilla Firefox Now! Why you might ask? Well for one you are going to be more safe, web pages will open faster, Oh and you wont have to see any stupid advertisements, yes, that includes the adverts you see when playing Runescape. You can customize this browser to the core and still stay safe. Deep Freeze anyone? If you really want to stay safe, and I'm talking Fort Knox safe, then this application is for you, mind, i recommend it only if you have two hard drives because otherwise you will find your self not able to save anything. When you put this program into Freeze mode, you can do whatever you want on your PC, But as soon as you reboot your PC, all those changes are gone. It will be like you never touched your PC since the day you installed DeepFreeze. Do not let anyone fool you/Be wise The internet is full of people, granted. but can you trust them? NO! Do not ever trust someone to simply "send you a file", you have no idea what it is, and most importantly if you think you have been infiltrated, do not log into anything, work on getting rid of the problem before hand. Watch what you download The number one way in which people get hacked is because they are downloading files one after another from insecure sources. If you download from public P2P or even torrents, then i suggest you stop. This is a breeding ground for hackers, because so many people are unaware of how insecure it really is. If you still want to download, join a warez community, not only are you more safe, but you can obtain more files anyway. [/hide] This guide will get updated when i have the time, i know it doesn't cover everything, but i feel it is the begging step to what people need to know, feel free to comment. And i am sorry if you do not allow these kind of posts on this forum, But please do not flame me.
  23. It's like chavs have attacked the internet. I for one support good grammar. The only time you might see me mess up is when I'm talking quickly and it has the letter "g" in it (because the "g" on my keyboard is messed up) Sometimes it can be because a person is from another country, then i feel for them, but it's those who just talk in 1337 speak really hack me of, because they talk in that way thinking it's cool :shame: So i say we get some grammar sheriffs in! (Just a little comic from the internet i found)
  24. ^ Dude, they can make more bots than we can report them, lol, Then they can all go finish tut island and come back for more
  25. I am working to get 99 in firemaking, what happens if i hit 99 in f2p, then decide to go member? Would i get a skill cape then? So yeah, anyway, i think we should have skill capes, we also put in the effort to get 13mil or whatever xp it is. And i don't see how letting f2p have skill capes is going to be any worse for members :S For one a member can get to there skill cape more, they have more items which give them more xp. I hope it happens, however down in my heart i know it wont
