  1. Very well said upthebanner. I dont doubt you have made a profit, I am just saying many claim to without actualy making any. I am sure there are ways of making money, I mean for past 2 weeks ive bought about 20mil worth of supplys and I still have the 5 mil that I had 3 weeks ago. I still dislike Grand Exchange because of price limitations and some whack prices, some of the things that were possible before are no longer possible, which is dissapointing. But this is what happens in games, things evolve, new things come out, all things dissapear. Smart players adjust, some give up and quit, thats life. I do have to say one thing about merchant class. The true merchant class does not buy for lowest market price to sell for high, they buy for extremely low price and then sell for average market price to sell fast, making crazy profit. edit: -continued- As I posted before in detail on runescape offical forums (and I believe the general idea has been copied and posted here by someone else) GE has created a serious inbalance in some skills. Prior to GE it was possible to buy high end herbs + seconds for a price which would be close to the price of the potion. It was possible to buy ranarr / snap seeds for a fair price and plant them and make some $ out of the potions you make from it. It was possible to buy dragonhides, craft them, and high alchemy the bodies to make some profits. When Jagex did their "research" on prices, the prices that they set severely crippled the production industry. Add on to this the fact that people who have been producting potions to gain herblore levels, without ever selling their pots. When GE came out, the oversupply hit the market. When people see that their stuff doesnt sell they naturaly lower prices. Well, this is going on on a large scale with a lot of things. If jagex would not have set this price restriction, the prices would not be collapsing so fast on everything. Granted, raw goods are going down in price because of large surplus of goods all the botters have, which is in turn hurting legitimate players. Lastly, I have noticed the restrictions on some of the prices. Willow logs can not be sold for less than 22 GP each on exchange. Which also hurts all the possible sales. All in all, for me GE is a big dissapointment ebcause of all of its flaws and lacks of freedom.
  2. What exactly do you consider junk in my bank? Granted I am a huge packrat.
  3. Too many people claim to make $ using ge, but in reality very few do. If you consider certain prices on GE some of the best money makers are gone. Teeth half 47k on GE? give me a break. Or the prices of dhides, which are dropping, but still. Same with herbs. It is true, the first 2-3 days when GE came out everyone who was first to sell a particular item made a ton of $. I sold my 3000 sapphires for 550 each, sold my onyx bolts, etc. And then, 2 weeks later, someone sold me 5000 sapphires for 1/5th the price, and was happy to be rid of them. I do find it ironic that the people who disagreed with me the most are now making their own posts telling people that prices are crashing and what to do / not to do, lol.
  4. HeHe I love my burger king hats so much. Only thing I love more than them is how people get worked up over them, esp when drool starts coming out, thats like winning the intrawebz for me :) I was thinking more about that timeframe, and I remembered few intresting things. A lot of pkers would unload me full rune / glories / dragon battles / longs etc in large amounts for cheap prices, and I would then distribute it in my clan to be resold. This way I made huge profit for distributing and they made profit for reselling and PKers got rid of it fast and easy :) I remember once I was invited to go Pking, there was a lot of us, I was running around with nature runes, entangling people and pew pew with my zamorak flames :) And we kept running into large groups of people that were all friends of freinds and we ended up killing 1 or 2 unfortunate people in total, everyone else was a friend to someone so I know exactly what you mean. I do have to say runescape was so much fun back then. /Salute meili
  5. Come to world 103 and msg me saying you are from TIF and want to see :)
  6. tbh i really dont know, but was it added in the middle of the games peak? like, if it was added now would items have gone up in price? i want to know what your trying to get at imo in wow, after any patch, some items get driven up in price madly but as for rs, the prices seem to drop You can not compare RS to WoW. There is a fundamental difference between them, WoW is 99% about combat, killing players or raiding instances and killing bosses for loot. It does not have such an indepth and complex skill system and all the supplys we use and make with the skills.
  7. Althoguh I was wrong in the assumption of how GE will be implemented, I was right about the price drop. Price drop is the only logical outcome when you have mass amount of harvesters flooding the market. But it didnt stop with the price drop on supplys did it? Furies down to 3mil now? D legs 1.3, whips, dbows, everything is dropping. I guess I was wrong about rares, or in particular on what will cause their price to drop, butas we all saw that happend as well with the staker change. I would have resumed this discussion sooner, but I was on a little vacation from TIF thanks to my good friend in economics. Although I have to say I am glad to have showed that no amount of economic degrees and long previews actualy mean anything when it comes to runescape economy, which is different from that of real world. I do have to say that the current GE implmenetation is rather dissapointing. Taking away freedom of prices from players slowly. I have been monitoring many prices quickly, to see the rate at which price of certain things drop. Feel free to resume this discussion from this point on, ignoring everything said prior to this, thanks :)
  8. Couple of days a go I met a player mod. she was so nice and helpful and even helped me out with a dhide seller. We got to talking and I invited her into my clan chat. When she joined it turned out she was friends with another person in my clan chat for a long time. Not the first time I find out that people I meet are friends amongst each other.
  9. meili, I sayd nothing of you. i was just talkin to the guy who thinks he is a famous legend, but has to convince people that he is :) I hardly ever pked, so I didnt know the pkers, but I did know all the top skillers and merchants, people with whom I dealt with daily, be it having rune 2h's made or selling them supplies :)
  10. HeHe my friends made a joke that I should get to 99 crafting by cutting onyx stones :) oh and as for the guy calling it fake, ill tell you same thing I tell all the other doubters, bet me 1mil and ill show? :)
  11. go ahead and check that out , guarentee a hell of alot more people know me , know of me than you. and 10k people , don't know bout that many , but I am sure a hell of alot do. Well, if you say so. Check out link in my signature, the first screen shot, and youll see why I was known when I actively played 3 years ago prior to world of warcraft coming out. If you think you are famous, im happy for you, I mean its what we think of ourselves and not the rest of the world :) ps. having 100 friends that know you doesnt make you famous :)
  12. But according to you , Snake was a legend cause he was on highscores and because of that he was "known" ... guess your beating your own dead horse there huh ? He was more famous than a legend because everyone who checked highscores back then was wondering if itw as same person or not :)
  13. [quote name="Dravenstormn by your defintions in a previous post who is famous now or a legend now matters not. And as far as impacting the game. Hmm lets see ' date=' I refer you to my previous post and also the fact I created one of the most dominant clans in RuneScape. Nah no impact there.
  14. so looking at a name on the highscores was cool? and made you known? well here is a few things for ya.All legit scores I earned myself , without macros. rank #145 http://web.archive.org/web/200201080240 ... s-1-0.html rank #45 http://web.archive.org/web/200202030935 ... s-0-0.html rank#70 http://web.archive.org/web/200202030943 ... s-4-0.html rank#6 http://koti.mbnet.fi/hohtava/vanhoi/range.PNG also RuneScape history sites. here is one of them. http://www.undead-legion.net/clan1.html http://koti.mbnet.fi/hohtava/vanhoi/smith.PNG your buddy Musashi #10 , and my oh my look what names are before him Haha, being those ranks makes you as famous as me for having 12 addy sq's and addy chest plates back when only bluerose13x could make them. Look whose #1, her because she was first smith and then musashi beat everyone to 99 btw. Those highscore printouts do not make you famous, becuase lets face it, if you were famous more than just your friends would know you. Out of millions of players who play RS now, nobody cares about who was #382 in highscore checking in 2002, im sorry its a fact. What counts is NOW and NOW different people are considered famous and as for legendary, bluerose13x is legendary, the old nite is legendary, you know, people who were known but are no longer here. As for you, you may think that you are, and few others may as well, but trust me, you are no famous than the next guy in line.
  15. DragnFly, I am saying that its not about having highest skills alone, but also having had an impact on the game. And highscores from 2001 / 2002, most people dont play today. Having read the list somewhere will give you insight on who was who back then, but now adays 99.9% of the people who have no clue who they are. ps. I knew ashley, she sold me my first x-mas cracker.
  16. Dravenstormn, dont make assumptions about me. I too played when server showed everyone who was there, you could kill anyone not standing on grass, and there was 1 or 2 servers, but I, like most other people didnt religiously follow high scores to care who was #1 or #21 in ranged. You consider yourself a legend? great, you can think anything you want, my point was who would be considered a legend or famous now, not 7 years ago eh? So dont make assumptions about me because you will be crushed with undeniable logic :)
  17. What so amazing about being the first person to macro range 24/7 ? Well, he was doing massive real world trading. Why do you want to glorify people who has actively been breaking the rules, and banned for it? Also, most of the persons the guy before you listed are true RSC legends. Just because they have been forgotten in the new history of Runescape (post RS2 release). It does not mean that they are Not legends Snake Slavik botting or not doesnt change the fact that it was cool to look at high scores and see snake slava and snake slavik up there alas he was KNOWN And as for duke, I personally dont like him because of his attitude towards certain things, and I know what he did, but it does not take away from the fact that he has accomplished something you wouldnt be able to in 10 life times alas why he deserves recognition. Sure, he sold it, but he still earned it. Oh god, look what you made me do, now im defending duke, lol.
  18. Please explain how The Old Nite has anything to do with money? He was one of my examples. My point was back then 99 smithing was equavalent of godlike, sinse smithing was the best skill, way before dragon items. Given how long ive played and how ive not heard of many of those legends you named was the basis for my reasoaning. Like I said, I dont know those people from stories, Ive known them all first hand, for whatever reason that they were known. But if you think being level 87 range makes you a legend, as opposed to single handelty changing price of an item from 1.6mil to 160k back before there was a single dragon weapon, then by all means keep on thinking that. edit: Arguing about htis is pointless come to think o fit. You consider certain peopl famous legends, I consider other people famous or legends. Neither of us is right or wrong it just depends on our perspective like I said earlier. My reasoning behind it is the fact that back then skilling wasnt as easy as it is now and $ wasnt as abundant, people worked very hard for their skills back then. edit2: After reexamining the chart Ive noticed musashi22 was in there and I also noticed ladykilljoy. Also I remember zonghui and how he was leveling prayer, before anyone had 99 prayer it was fun watching people climb up in ranks for that skill :)
  19. Yep.. What really annoys me is how some people literally worship pmods, and then the pmod takes advantage of that to boast. +1 Shiny silver star is as impressive as shiny blue crown. Neither deserves respect, although the blue one can in a way deserve recognition of acomplishment depending on circumstances. You should respect players for who they are and not what they are, but with that being said its not often you meet an idiot p-mod. Some of my closest friends are p-mods. They are very nice people that go out of their way to help you and as such you tend to do the same for them.
  20. I did not say that, im basing it on impact the player had on the game. Someone who single handetly manages to change something on a large scale in the game for example and not someone who can click fastest when pking or who was #1 range that nobody ever heard of, no pun intended.
  21. I consider her a legend because back then being 99 smithing meant more than being 99 in half the skills combined now. Plus it meant you were insainely super rich. Especially once rune items were added. Those people made ridiculous ammount of money. I know gearshifter because gearshifter was insainely rich. Tks, rings a distant bell, but not sure on that one. I know gearshifter because duke always said that he merchanted to be richer than gearshifter who had 500mil (which back then is like having 50 bil now) I liked The Old Nite because unlike many he was legit and didnt have a huge head and was ahead of zima. My own personal reasons for liking him, but reason he was famous was for being #1 and legit. Snake slava and slavik were first and second regardless of how, reason why everyone knew him. Musa was 99 before others, I think he was #2 or 3, right after bluerose, along with whitemagem. Both of them dropped price of rune2h back then which was huge. I personaly knew him as well becuase he used to smith rune2h's for me. I consider those people legends and famous not because I heard their name somewhere, but because I knew them all first hand and the impact they have had. edit: Zonghui - I remember that name also. After looking at some of those names, first 99's I remember them from back in rsc.
  22. DragnFly, thats kinda what I was saying. I started shortly after runescape came out. Thats around when bluerose was very famous, I remember when she was making me addy sq's, which if you had you were considered incredibly rich. I was just saying that I have never heard anyone mention any of those names and having played for so long have never heard of those people, so to me they are not really famous, but doesnt mean they are not. As for legends, all those countless people he listed, thats too many legends I think :\ People I named are the people who I consider important that have had big impact on this game. Like how whitemagem and musashi brought down prices of rune2h from 1.6mil each.
  23. Not looking to pick an argument with you, I was stating what I know on the matter. Having 99 in a certain skill isnt that big of an accomplishment now adays so most people dont consider someone with 99 a legend. Back when 99 smithing was a huge accomplishment, those people were real legends, every single person knew them. I guess you and I think of words famous and legend from different perspective. For me someone who is a legend is someone who has done something in this game that people many years later still talk about and someone famous is somebody who is known by everyone. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/legend 1. a nonhistorical or unverifiable story handed down by tradition from earlier times and popularly accepted as historical. 6. a collection of stories about an admirable person. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/famous 1. having a widespread reputation, usually of a favorable nature; renowned; celebrated: a famous writer. I was going by those 2 meanings and my own personal experience + all the conversations about legendary / famous people that ive had with people throughout my time of playing runescape.
  24. Dravenstormn, that sure is a lot of legends. Wow! So cool, so many awesome people. One thing though, ive been playing for almost as long as runescape has been around and havent heard of 99% of them... But ill gladly give you names of some real legends that most everyone has heard of. The Old Nite - used to compete with zezima for #1 skill total. 100% legitimate player and probably one of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure to interact with. God rest his soul. Musashi22 - one of the first 99 smiths. dropped price of rune 2h's back in the day. Amaizing player, very talented skiller, used his smithing to make tons of $ for all other skills. Whitemagem - same as Musashi22. Bluerose13x - first 99 smith, player moderator, great woman. Very kind and gentle, good friend. Snake Slavik / Snake Slava - first and second person to hit 99 range. His first account was banned and he hit 99 range for the second time before anybody else could. Duke freedom - one of the richest merchants runescape has ever seen Unleash1 - amaizing skiller, very successful merchant, very very rich. Ace Dylan - became one of the richest people in runesacpe overnight by cleaning out multiple stakers. Then lost it all. Some of the names off of the top of my head. As for people you listed, nothing against them, but if someone is a legend youd assume people know about them, but I have never heard of them nor have any of my countless friends ever mentioned them. To each his own I suppose, but I do believe that more people know of my insignificant self than of half of them
