  1. From personal experience I can tell you when prices go down and a panic starts they keep going down until they crash and then eventualy stabilize. Eventualy they will just go up to higher than they were worth before, stakers arent the only ones who can afford phats afterall, lets not forget merchants.
  2. Another true statement - there simply is too few party hats left for them not to keep going up:)
  3. Excellent news! Thanks for the update. :) It is quite sad that some people actually enjoy it if other players gameplay is disturbed, while they claim that such gameplay doesn't effect them at all. Yeah, sad. Especially when the same hypocrits call for people to take on a "nicer attitude" in the game. Edit: Cross quoting the following from another thread makes it even 10 times worse what you said. +1 and I dont even like you :)
  4. This statement is also true. Chances are rares will go up by 10-30% of the original price (before the staking change) around christmas. No matter what happens there is still a very limited ever decreasing supply of party hats.
  5. Unlikely. Whilst stakers are probably some of the richest players in the game, they are not actually generating any income.. No new money enters the economy as a result of a stake being won or lost - it is merely a change in the disribution of wealth. Stakers are, therefore, simply efficient collectors of gp. It is always difficult to predict the impact of any updates on the price of any items within the game, but if even half the number of stakers quit that have threatened to then the supply of rares will also be reduced as they are taken out of the game on retired accounts.. Your statement is true and false. When stakers accumilate enough wealth that wealth is then invested in a rare. More people looking to buy rares = more demand. More demand = higher prices. With stakers not making insaine sums of $ out of nowhere they wont have the $ to spend on rares thus demand will go down and thus rares will go down in price. Normal skillers who are holding rares to sell off to buy supplys will end up getting less $ in turn will have less to spend. I can go on and on, but you get what I mean.
  6. Because large amount of people are getting unjustly punished for bad actions of the few. Its like killing bazooka with a fly. If they can do this to stakers than they can turn around and do the same to merchants with GE and PKers with wilderness and skillers and just about anything else. This change isnt justifieble in my opinion so I am against it. I would be equally against it if it screwed skillers or pkers or anyone else, im on the side of what I believe to be the greater justice.
  7. Yes, thank you for being so literal. The same value without a cap. There, happy? 1 mil for the top stakers seems a reasonable cap to me. It's not just poor players buying cash in the real world. Sorry, but I cant help but sense some strong jealousy on your part towards stakers. As if the fact that 99% of them end up getting cleaned out and losing everything eventualy isnt enough to justify them making so much $. I say be and let be, but obviously that isnt the commonly accepted phylosophy.
  8. But that's a ridiculous comparison, and you (should) know it. I could imagine all sorts of changes they would make that would affect how I play the game, but just because I can think of changes like that that would irritate me, doesn't mean I would just knee-jerk start complaining about such a change without at least reading about the change, and deciding if there was a good reason for it. And more importantly, I wouldn't go spouting off about something before I knew what it was really all about. #1 to make 1 thing clear, I dont stake, I find staking extremely unstable and unsafe so I would never do it, but I am siding with them on this. Their playstyle was destroyed. And is my comparison really that ridiculous? They take out stakers to get rid of rule-breakers so why dont they take out woodcutting and mining to take out botters - would be equally stupid. Oh well, im sure they will reconsider when enough people quit over this. All the $ stakers were bringing into the economy will play some role on this as well. But you go ahead and blindly condemn stakers and their playstyle.
  9. Just cancel your member, when they get 100000 dollars (if enough stakers quit) less this months they will quickly reconsider
  10. You wouldnt be saying what you are if they made a change that directly crippled your play style, in fact, im sure you would be the first to complain. Imagine it, like someone said, being able to only cut 3 trees an hour or do only 1 trade a day... you get my point.... I hope
  11. kdb148, your point of view is rather clear. You are indifferent to the fact that its severely crippling the play style of many people and not only that but you seem to be gloating about it. Whatever, im not here to judge, im sure youll learn one day, one way or another.
  12. n64jive, im going to agree with you on this one. The kid is gloating over the misfortune of others. Also, jagex, much like blizzard with world of warcraft understand one thing, $. If something severely hurts their income they will quickly reconsider. I say this from personal experience with World of Warcraft.
  13. On a large enough scale everyone becomes irrelevant, however, this update does hurt quite a few people. I dont see how you can justify hurting the playstyle of that many. Turning a blind eye to the fact that others are being screwd bad isnt the best thing to do, but hey this is the internet right.
  14. I take it you missed this very important point? And your tone is moronic. Just because you claim you don't real-world trade doesn't suddenly make all stakers clean. Nor do I really believe you. Sorry, I thought I was responding to an intelligent person, but sadly I was wrong :wall: :wall: :wall: . You believing me is as important to me as respect of self-proclaimed high-protectors of the intrawebz. Point being you are being self-centered and judging. All I can tell you is I hope you are not a skiller with that narrow view because it will turn around and bite you.
  15. This statement is false. Have you considered the following? The skiller that just sold the staker his blue party hat is now going to spend that 600mil gold on supplies for more skilling? So in essence, the staker gives the $ to skiller, the skiller gives that $ to merchants (to buy supplies) and merchants distribute that $ to everyone else (to buy their things). So you see, it does affect everybody, you just choose not to see it. As one of those people with a ridiculous and ultimately useless amount of in-game wealth I rescent your condescending, stereotype statement. Sorry, but who are you to judge us? Sure, there is always cheaters, who buy a lot of rares hog them and then sell them for real life $ or stake a lot and sell, but there is rotten eggs everywhere, you cant use such stereotypes. How about instead of being suspicious of everyone and doing stupid things they dont implement a different change. I have a PERFECT solution for RL trading here for you. Do not allow one sided or unbalanced stakes. Dont let people stake 10 mil for nothing. This way the person buying $ is now at risk of not only not getting his $, but losing equal amount of $ if the seller dicides to horribly rip him off. Instead, they made a change that ruined the game for a lot of people who put a lot of time into their characters. I cant help but to feel that to some extent the people gloating over this change were jealous of the stakers.
  16. +1 Very nicely written and articulated. I hope people realise that even if they dont stake this change can have an impact on them, more than they would want. Its a very bad choice by jagex, to give an anology... to kill staking in order to stop real life trading it like shooting a fly with a bazooka. Hope this change is undone.
  17. +1 I totally agree with you, Adamfostas. Yes, Qeltar's idea is good in theory, police the internet, police runescape, make them a safe environment for our children. But in practice not everyone plays buy the rules. No matter how hard you try, there will always be some trying to abuse the system, to go around the rules, for whatever ends they have in mind. The solution? Be able to react appropriately to them. Or in the case of parents, prepare your children for this. No matter how hard you try to protect your children, sooner or later they will still need to face "bad" situations by themselves. I'll give another analogy as well. I have recently had my driving licence and I remember a "lesson" learned during my driving classes. When I had green light I was passing through intersections without too much bother, knowing the others have red light. Till one day when one came from my left with high speed after having crossed a red light. Nothing bad happened, but my instructor calmly explained me that when driving you have to be careful at what the others do too, not only to you. You cannot assume everyone will drive by the book, be sure "bad situations" will occur sooner or later. That's how life goes... going on a crusade against rule-breakers and abusers might help from time to time, I won't deny it. But it is seldom enough. Anyway, my 2 cents worth... Another nicely articulated post. I just have 1 comment. Even if people wanted to, internet police does not seem possible or reasonable. Furthermore, if such a mechanism was in place I can pretty much gurantee that the number of internet users and communities would severely decrease. Nor would such police change the lives of severely depressed children. Unfortuantely, all these people need is a trigger. Btw, after viewing some videos of the interview with the mother I have to say considering the fact that she lost her child she did a mighty fine job with her hair and makeup and didnt look that upset to me. The crusade she is trying to start seems to be a means of seeking attentnion, atleast thats how I see it im sorry if you dont agree. Lastly, qeltar, w are trying to have a civil discussion here, either contribute or please stop trying to get it locked, thank you.
  18. Staking for $ has been around from the start for about 3-4 years
  19. Trust me, I definately agree. Just because I dont stake im not going to show blind ignorance by saying yay or good riddance, like those ignorant people merchant-hating. People need to realise that this game doesnt revolve around them and they have no right to judge or seek joy in misfortunte of others.
  20. 13 days spent there still no drop!
  21. Samittaja, although it doesnt require physically having skills, it requires just as much if not more skill on the part of the player to make the irght trades and does not involve the luck factor.
  22. Actualy I quoted your topic, welcome to the internet!
  23. Granted stakers would at times win unreal amount of $ very fast, ultimately most stakers end up getting cleaned out. Someone better and better always comes around. Who cares what they do? Staking is like gambling and their fun was brutaly taken away. All I can say is I hope GE doesnt do the same with merchanting, you cant force people to play certain way youll just end up losing your community and player base.
  24. Adamfostas, I bow my head before you. To date the response you have posted is by far the most throughout well articulated of all that I read. You hit the nail on the head on every point and phrase it very well beyond any shadow of the doubt. I would also like to point out that your anologies are very nice and accurate. All I can say is "WoW", very nice post indeed.
  25. Why do you think anybody cares you have a life? You obviously care enough to post about it.
