  1. edit: noticed this after I posted, pretty much exactly what I was saying, just beat me to posting it. Very well said. After rereading dukes post I noticed just how far this 60 year old man goes to make an idrect jab at me. Oh well. I agree once more than fancy economic degrees vs actualy in game experience at merchanting is 2 different things. Fancy, better way of saying of exactly what I meant. Human greed which makes person willing to sell for less but quicker. Once again, exactly what I meant edit: Overall your post could have been much smaller and much more to the point. You know, had you not added all the mocker in my direction your post may have looked a lot better. I guess you can grow up without growing up :( You actualy went and wrote a really big and long post making a lot of points on how this change will get rid of us, the scum and vultures of the game and allow everyone else to live happily ever after. I have to say, I had you figured out wrong at first, but this post did clear it up perfectly for me. edit: sorry, I keep making edits as time at work permits me, dont want to post more replys. I further thought about this, consider the following. What was the reason to write this post? 1. To discredit me, since you make countless references to me thoughout the post, without actualy calling names 2. To show off your vast knowledge and understanding of the game and its economics, while at the same time promoting your site? 3. Something entirely different, in which case I have no clue, but would love to hear. And if it were something different then why make countless references to me? And lets say comments werent about me or directed at me and this was just to help the people of runescape... then Now, if its #1, I have to say that is rather amusing how much of an impact I had on you. However... if its #2, while calling me a bragger and acusing me of being just about everthing bad, have you considered why I called you a hypocrate? You accuse me of being a bragger while at the same time you are advertising your site... aka your achievement. So who decides when is it justified to advertise one achievement and not the other? If this big post was not for sake of getting attentnion, then I dont see why you posted it at all. You make a lot of assumptions, based of your existing knowledge of real lifes economics. But allow me to make 1 simple comparison that will prove for good just how different runescape economy is from that of real life. 1 word.... offer. I dont want to guess here, but id say 99 of the time I deal with somebody, regardless of buying or selling people always say offer. Now, do you come to the store and offer your price on bread or milk? didnt think so. Furthermore, real lifes economy is not controlled by teenagers. Which brings me to my next point, is bigger always better? You make a big post, but have you considered that your real life knowledge of economics might not be the beacon of runescapes economy and you might be creating disonformation?
  2. Merchants The merchants that you said that provide a useful service, by buying a lot of something and then selling, to save time, will be the first ones out of buisness. Ok, I spent 2 weeks buying yew logs, now I have 100k yew logs. I go to GE and I put them up for lets say 310 ea, with average price being 300 ea. Figured id make an easy mil by mailing 10gp profit on each one. Here is where the problem comes on. If there is a lot of people selling yew logs guess what, any intelligent person, who cares about conserving $ will go ahead and buy out all the auctions for 300 each. Although he wont get as many logs (if there isnt enough auctions up), he can get enough to start working and then come back and check GE later to buy the rest. Its just a rough example, but from conserving $ point of view with sufficient supply those who try to sell in large amounts at a time will be hit hard. Also, if you consider how many people are cutting logs at any given time vs burning or fletching them (on a global scale) im pretty sure that there is more logs coming into the game than being used. Ofcourse, if thats not the case than this does not apply, but if it is the case this well eventualy cause an overstock. That will impact those merchants even more and may even cause the price decrease due to overstock and people undercutting each other. Ofcourse, if all supplys are bought out at the rate that they come up for sale then it will not happen, time will tell. Cheaters and Scammers Those will never go away. New waves of cheats and scams will always hit the gate. Ill give one example from my own personal experience. Try to understand my example here since its based off of world of warcraft auction house. In world of warcraft, there was different types of cloth, linen, wool, etc. Cloth was used for tailoring and first aid (making bandages), but thats not the point. Cloth would stack up, up to 20 in 1 stack, when sold in auctionhouse. So one auction could contain at most 20 cloth. One person would then proceed to put up about 20 auctions of cloth, and in between them slip in 1 or 2 auctions where the price had an extra 0 or so. A careles person would see this the cloth he needed being sold and would begin buying them out. If said person was carelessly and just kept clicking buy out one after another he may end up buying the ones listed for 10x the price. There wouldnt be any trade scams if people paid attentnion in the first place. Granted, the ruenscape implementation of GE might not allow for the specific example of scam, but im pretty sure lazy people who refuse to work for their $ will find one way or another to scam. Other
  3. Well, spent day 8 at dragons, results: Got 77 hp Got 72 defence Used up 1000 diamond bolts (e) Got half key teeth drop Ofcourse, still no vissage, pretty close to 81 now lol.
  4. I used to have one (merchant clan) before I quit, about 20-30 merchants and we all worked together was fun times back then :)
  5. I am using zammy dhide with ranger, robin, ava's accumilator, diamond bolts (e) and range pots. Trust me, they die fast :)
  6. If you really wonna make $ considering becoming p2p. Cant help you with f2p money making.
  7. They already announced its going to be the implementation of the great exchange.
  8. Yea I wear a ring of wealth, but to be honest it dont seem to help any - who knows, lol.
  9. I got to 78 range on blue dragons I got to 87 magic using high alchemy and 1000's of death and blood on all sorts of mobs. I got my str att and def on dragons also, using prayer protect to melee. Trust me, I killed a lot of mobs that can have good drops.
  10. I went from 62 to half way to 64 prayer, from 75 to almost 77 hp, and 78 to 80 range on those dragons. There is no telling how long it will take, but I dont intend to give up, im just wondering which will happen first, 99 range or vissage drop.
  11. Yea I guess lol, I refuse to buy the vissage I am compelled to finally have a good drop and I bet ill get 99 range before it happens lol!
  12. Well, my character has worst luck in runescape and I mean it. In 7 years playing my best drop is loop half key. Best thing I got from clue was rune long (lvl 3 clues, including multiple ones from black dragons since i started ranging) So I wouldnt be surprised of i get 19 ranging lvls before I get the vissage. I just hope I have the patience to keep going and enough diamonds to keep making my diamond bolts (e) :)
  13. Which do you think would come first? I started ranging black dragons when I was 78, I got 80 yesterday. I sort of made a self bet to see which would happen first, getting 99 range or getting a vissage. Personaly, I think ill end up getting 99 range before I get it. Those of you who had it as drops how long did it take you? Is anyone else trying to get one now?
  14. I know of many cases where mods stole things, so I wouldnt really wonna trust random mods with my stuff.
  15. It has been that way for forever in every mmo ive played. Ever read the small print on the back of WoW's manual? hehe you can read a lot of the policies they have some of which are rather intresting. Lastly, you would be shocked how many people in game run off their mouth non-stop and constnatly get reported for offensive language. One day I was woodcutting and witnesed myself just how stupid some of these people can be. Conversation between 2 people, 1 of whom was a lady about 55 years old, a grandmother. Some kid who overheard the conversation immedately began insulting her, for no reason at all. He called her just about every foul word and this and that. Ofcourse, we all reported him. Also, you ever have a trade with someone who refuses to tell you price and tells you to offer and then if you offer anything less than what they expect they go into a total insulting frenzy. One such person was muted right as he was telling people off. My point here is that ofcoruse they need to have a policy like that, in order to be able to deal with all the ignorant kids to can not watch their mouths.
  16. Use up all my banked supplies to get few 99's
  17. This is an amaizing game because the possibilities in this game are endless. There is so much to do. I am not telling anyoen to do anything, instead, im offering a merchanting challenge to anybody who is itnrested. Why do you get hung up on 4 hours? Thats the max allowed limit to turn 20k into 1mil, if you can do it in 10 minutes then whoala. Just write up ind etail what you did and how you did it to do it :) People seem to get hung up on how much exp they can get in 4 hours which completely misses the point. Hopefuly its the last time I have to explain this.
  18. I would have been happier with player owned houses :) Also, I just feel that this change is too big to be introduced that late into the game. Had it been there form start things would have been different at this point, who knows.
  19. Thing is, I will buy anything if its cheap. Some things I use, some I resell, it suits my particular play style. When I skill, i try to buy cheap to conserve $ to accomplish more. Its merchanting perse, becuase if need be I can resell, but I hardly ever do, I mostly resell. Guess when changees come one has to adopt.
  20. please stop trying to derail the thread. and there is a difference between spelling and abbreviations, such as u instead of you... personally i cant stand them.
  21. I have to agree, I notice a tendancy lately to somehow magically take the blame off of the parents and blame anyone and anything but. The other day I was talking to some kid in game who was planning to pretend to be sick, not to go to school in order to play runescape. Uh... there is definately somethign seriously wrong with that picture and the parents are the ones responsbile for extremely poor parenting.
  22. It is not really a daily occurence to see an author to misunedrstand his own message. :P No, it is not just for fun, what we can do with 20k. It is all about what we can do with the four hours of our free time. That is the important part. And to that question, there is only one right answer: ditch the 20k in your bank and go play the game. Get it? PLAY! GAME! I see absolutely no rewarding experience in wasting good four hours of my precious time spent in game merchanting. If you need one million, go train your skills. I'm sure you have found at least one or two things to do in this game that you enjoy and find it worthy of spending time on. Whatever it is, I guarantee you that just in a few months you will be able to attain high enough levels in it to generate steady influx of money to fund all your ingame needs. All that by "just" playing the game. The cash will just come in naturally. Do not feel bad that your ingame character is inferior to mine or any other old-school weirdo in just any way imaginable. Only idiots would judge others by their levels or wealth. Nobody but a few silly kiddos really care about money or achievement capes or what not. I assure you, those are not the attributes anyone would respect or befriend a person for. So, go and get a life. I mean, get a life, every minute of it, well spent. It's way more important than any amount of cash. Ever. Id like to ask any moderators around to please delete the post by ekim because its an attempt to derail the thread. The purpose challenge is to see how far one can go with 20k thorugh merchanting, nothing else. edit: also, please remove the post by jessy87 since its another attempt to derail the thread.
  23. Alrgiht, let me spell out what I meant by GE affecting atleast my own personal style of merchanting. I dont consider world2 merchanting, infact, I avoid that place. What it will directly affect is my ability to buy supplies I require at the prices I set for my own skillups. Furthermore, I am consdered with the affect on the economy it might have as a whole. With a price decrease accross the board, if it does occur, everyoen will suffer become ... well... ultimately, everyones things will be worth much less. Lastly, be it buying or selling, neither is hard. Granted you arent selling snow to the eskiomes, you can achieve best results by advertising in crowded banks.
  24. Thank you, your swift word of justice have cut deep into my evil heart. I shall rethink over my cruel ways and learn a life lesson from these important internet posts.
  25.
