  1. This is the most awesome update...EVER!!!!!
  2. I'm F2P and have very little bank space available and need to clear out the diamonds that I have. I COULD make rings, but I'd almost rather try and sell the diamonds outright than do that since I wouldn't be able to make my money back. I'd also like to make them into amulets of power, which are a little more valuable, plus, someone could get the magic experience, too (since I need to use level 57 enchant along with the 70 crafting).
  3. Today, I reached total level 816. If that's all I posted, forum viewers might scream "Spam!" in a much less satisfying way than the crew of Monty Python. No, the real milestone isn't in fact my total level, but instead the way in which I've reached it...yes...if you read the original post, today I reached the 50 level in all of the F2P skills. Am I ready for membership? I'm starting to believe I could do more in F2P to prepare. To date, I've only "scartched the surface" on my preparations wish list. I've got plenty to keep me busy until my membership, but for now, let me bask in the glory of my first REAL RuneScape accomplishment!
  4. I guess my main point is... I need level 70 crafting assistance and level 57 magic assistance and no one on F2P seems willing to help.
  5. I thought that by trying some of the more populated worlds and the worlds for trading that I'd be able to find some high level crafters and mages to help with a diamond-to-amulet of power crafting project I'm trying to get done, but I can't seem to find anyone. I've tried a few worlds in a few places and can't seem to get it done. Does anyone know of a world where you can get assistance easier? Is there a list of worlds for crafting assistance and a separate one for smithing ore and a separate one for assistance enchanting jewelry...
  6. I just hit 800 total level, a milestone for me on my way to one of my first (and loftiest) goals in RuneScape. I'm F2P, but decided long ago that I wouldn't join up (go P2P) until I achieved enough levels to make the most out of my few months of planned membership time. Rather than sit there and grind levels while paying for it, I figured I'd set a level goal, then grind in the F2P universe until I was satisfied that I could breeze through some of the early levels of member skills. That level was 50. Well, with the 15 F2P skills available, your math might quickly tell you that it's somewhere near 750 (15 skills times 50 levels) and I'm over that by a full skill. If my signature is up-to-date, you'll be able to tell why my total level isn't indicative of reaching my goal. I figured early on in my goal that getting to level 60 to enter the mining guild would be a great help, so I altered my original goal and included "accessing all available F2P guilds" and now that I type it, I might switch that to include all available guilds F2P and P2P, with the obvious exception of quest point requirements. Since my last big grind is prayer, I considered altering that goal, especially since it's so difficult (and expensive) and above level 45, no F2P skills are available. Instead of chickening out on level 50, I'm considering on making my goal "level 50 or highest available F2P skill, whichever is higher" and that would mean getting skill capes in mining and smithing, which might take me months, especially in F2P! I'm not sure what I should do, since I don't want to make a ridiculous goal that will make better sense tackling in P2P, but I'm also the kind of person who isn't satisfied with what I've already accomplished. Another task I'm setting about, related to goals, is gathering of materials that will make the first 50 or so levels of the P2P skills easier...things like logs for construction, more logs and feathers for fletching, and ingredients for herblore. Several of the other skills aren't item related (like slayer, hunter, and agility...though farming requires items like seeds, you can't gather them in F2P). I've already built up a good stock of mind runes while runecrafting my way to level 50, but I also have 10k body runes (pretty useless except for the 20 rune bank cost at the ZMI altar, I suppose...unless I could realistically sell them to the magic shops in F2P a few hundred at a time to get some cash...any suggestions?) and have some steel and mithril bars and some planks saved up, as well as 30 or so anti-dragon shields (but I'm going to gather more to use in high level crafting...or is it smithing?). My only F2P quest left is Dragon Slayer, but I'm all the way up to the part where you kill Elvarg, so I see no reason in completing it right now, since I'm fine with the rune chain mail I own and don't need to wear plate right now. I don't duel or anything because I see no fun in PKing, even for cash, especially when I can only get a 3k benefit out of it every 15 minutes. I'm looking to refine my goals and definitely would like suggestions on items to build up on (including item totals) for my eventual (February?) membership. I guess until then, I'll work on getting the most out of my F2P experience! Happy 'Scaping!
  7. New clues in the cartoon? Could summoning be released during that circled part of the calendar in the cartoon on the front page or on one of the red dates? Also, has anyone plugged those phrases into an unscrambler to figure out what they say?
  8. Thanks, those tips are the kinds of things I was hoping this thread would get... My current stats should be viewable below in my signature. Once I start stockpiling logs of all kinds, my WC will change, but I wasn't planning on getting my fishing up that high. Perhaps I need to work on that a little (I'll take a look at the guide to see).
  9. I might be taking YOUR fun out of it, but for me, fun means completion and high levels. I'm also trying to get as much done as quickly as possible. I don't plan on being a member forever, so I want to get a bunch of stuff out of the way as quickly as possible, to enjoy F2P more later. I figure the first skill I'll level up to 99 will be agility, since I can use that even after dropping membership. Everything else will come as a result of the others. What I plan on doing is levelling up to 50 EVERYTHING, then concentrating on agility. I'm just wondering if people became a member, then had to stockpile stuff that they could have done for free and not waste their membership dues.
  10. So far: 1k logs (for fletching) 10k oak logs (for use in construction and fletching) 20k willow logs (for use in construction and fletching) 1k feathers (for fletching) .5k nails (for construction) .5k Eye of newt (for herblore/attack potions) .5k steel bars (for fletching) Level suggestions: 60 magic 60 mining 60 attack/strength/defence Add or subtract?
  11. What the hell are you talking about? Besides that, I reached level 50 in all my F2P skills, so this post is as good as done anyway.
  12. I'm F2P (and I try keeping my stats updated in my signature), but plan on giving membership at least one month of my time...eventually. As of the date of this posting (Jan. 06, 2008) I am trying to get to level 50 in all F2P levels. Maybe you think of "level grinding" as boring, but I look at stuff like that as a challenge. It's true, that once I accomplish those tasks, it leaves an empty feeling rather than a satisfactory one, but that's because there is always something more to do. Once my PayPal account kicks in, I will have the option to join, but if I get to level 50 first, I'll probably end up setting 55 as the new bench mark level for all skills...maybe even 60. That would mean joining much later. I do see what you mean, though. There really isn't a challenge for me anymore. I started venturing out further and further into the wilderness DARING to be PK'd for a little while. Other times, I'd carry some nice stuff out there and let myself by killed just to give some idiot a big jackpot. Then I came up with the levels thing and have had my time consumed by it. It started with trying to get access to all the guilds, but once I got to level 60 mining, I felt like I had nothing left in the game. I've been saving the Dragon Quest, because I'm afraid I'll be TOTALLY bored once I get that one out of the way. Well, try the levels thing on for size. Try maxing out your F2P experience as fast as you can in mining (2 million, right?). Set a date and stick to it, revenants or not. BTW, maybe you could give some tips on here on how best to avoid them (like a certain path you take everytime or things you do that you've found that work) because it seems like that's the new thing that bothers people about the wilderness.
  13. I'm not so impatient as to just give up this close, just because it will be quicker and easier as a member. I need tons of big bones (about 1700 or so) and since 100k only bought me 250 of them, I don't think I'll be going that route. Currently, I'm RC'ing body runes, but will get back to killing giants as soon as I can. After all that, I'm planning on building up a stock of planks, logs, feathers, iron bars, and empty buckets for fletching, contstruction, and farming. Eyes of newt for using in herbology. After I get a little stockpile, it's on to members!
  14. I'm pretty set on getting my stats all to level 50 before becoming a member. 2k hill giants to kill will take a LONG time, but I think it will be worth it in the long run. I'm in the process of running between the body altar and Edgeville with the goal of getting 52 runecrafting. I could do that or runecraft tons of air and mind runes to use for levelling up magic. I'm not really sure about that one, but I started RC'ing fires and realized that I don't need those that much. Airs and Minds seem to be best, but I'm not sure I'm gonna do that much RC'ing while a member. The real problem seems to be prayer as it is SLOW without a POH and guilded altar. I think the F2P level I have now is pretty good, especially since I can't USE the higher levels in F2P. I'm just a pretty stubborn person. I didn't reach all level 50 by January 1st, but I still haven't gotten the online banking thing to get my membership. I don't want to pay directly out of my bank account or with a credit card. Anyway, I'll be throwing a Falador party when I do get a membership, but until then...
  15. I'm having trouble believing this is even a serious question. Have you tried mining at both? The east varrock bank to aubry is BY FAR quicker than the wizard's tower and there is no other place to mine it on F2P. Try both...go ahead. It's not even close. If you're still having trouble deciding, use one of the guides on here or on the main F2P site.
  16. You must be new here or something... MOST of the posted questions on the forum could be found elsewhere...but that's not the point. This is one place where people can get answers without having to read entire guides. When I want to know something about the game, I make a post and someone either answers it for me, or found the answer previously and points me to the correct page. I don't want to have to read everything about Magic on the guide to find the part where it tells me about what runes are best to make before going out to level up only to find out I should have been reading Runecrafting (or some better example that I couldn't just think of) and then have to read that whole section and all the subsections, too. Maybe I'm just laying this all on you, but for anyone else reading: STOP ASSUMING WE CARE ABOUT THE ANSWER BEING SOMEWHERE ELSE! THAT'S THE POINT OF US ASKING!
  17. My skills have been steadily improving over the past week, so I might be at my goal of level 50 in all F2P by the first of January. The main thing right now is deciding whether to buy or mine all the rune essence necessary for the level 50 RC, because I'm still about 9000 short (I used a calculator that said I needed close to 10k of them to runecraft air and minds...which are the quickest and easiest and most useful runes to make). Once I reach my goal, I might throw a Tip.It party at the party room for getting the membership!
  18. I suppose having a cool down would be what they'd do, but I was thinking more along the lines of having mastered runecrafting, you should be able to get the rune essence easier. Maybe if you have both mining and runecrafting at level 99 you could use that spell (since you're actually mining it at that place)? And for the person that asked...yes I do realize that there are other places, but first, I'm F2P and second, that's the quickest place for me to mine that stuff. Also, for the person who mentioned buying it...I'm not one of those people who buys skills. I figure that rather than power mine or something else I should do the skills in order to help other skills, like mine my own iron and coal to make steel to smith.
  19. I'd say boost your runecrafting a little bit...so you can get the runes you need to do the magic necessary for a level binge.
  20. I'm thinking of putting some of these into a really simple guide and will certainly mention all your usernames if I do. For those of you giving advice but not stating numbers, if you have a rough estimate of things like how many planks or how many logs, please let me know through this thread. Thanks for the help and if you have other ideas, do not hesitate to add them!
  21. yeah i tried... can't get any of them :S Could it be possible that you've already done most of that part of the quest? Go back to the guy who is supposed to give you the sword...it might say that you can get the sword (you'll have to pay him) because you lost the other one. That might explain why the other keys are not there.
  22. if it's spending money, then steel bars...I'd beef up on your mining stat though (can't BUY that stat ever), store up lots of coal and at least get up to mining mithril...your smithing level will increase better when you can mine and smith those things...plus, you will INCREASE your bank account instead of putting a drain on it.
  23. Don't save anything in your bank that can be easily bought or created. Food (unless you have a lot of something that can't be made quickly, like anchovy pizzas or chocolate cake and things like hammers and fishing equipment should be sold off, too. It looks like you only have 3 balls of wool, so why keep those? If you had a large amount or an equal amount to all your gems, maybe. Fill up any empty vials or bowls or get rid of them...build a bookcase in your house to hold your books...get rid of extra jewelry that's unchanted or that you don't use or enchant the ones that aren't to make it sort with the ones that are...it looks like you're storing snow which I would say, why! Either make the stuff you need with the moulds or get rid of them now. Most of this is common sense...did you just want to brag about your inventory?
  24. Umm...you're cheating? (I'm joking) Seriously...I must be drawing a blank because I have not idea how you did it.
  25. Alright! This is more like it...keep 'em coming folks!
