  1. I think I realized a bit too late that trying for rune med helms was pointless. I'm having difficulty with advancing prayer, but since I've hit 45 I think there aren't any more F2P skills available in prayer. I'm over 50 in magic (yes!) and only have level 59 to look forward to there, before F2P magic skills run out. As for those calculators, they never seem to work for me...I don't know if it's my firewall set-up or what. Thanks for the help! Looks like I'm gonna be a regular in the Edgeville Dungeon for quite some time!
  2. Maybe from my signature you can tell that I'm close to getting to at least level 50 in all the F2P skills, which is my goal for pre-membership (and pre-quest completion of Dragon Slayer). Big bones seem to take forever to gather and a fortune to buy. It's the last of the sub-50 skills I have to work on, but I've got about 2.8k rune essence that I'm going to turn into mind runes in order to try and bump my magic up to 59 or 60 before membership. Also, I'm gathering as many anti-dragon shields as I can, buckets, planks, Eye of Newt, logs, oak logs, willow logs, nails, and feathers. I figure once I get a healthy set of that stuff, I'll become a member. I might even keep the Dragon Slayer quest incomplete for a little while in order to enjoy the option of gathering more shields. My level goals are going to change a bit, but not much. Once I get level 50 in everything, I'll consider membership. Before it was a sure thing, now I'm wondering if I should just wait even longer until I have a ton of stuff gathered!
  3. I'm pretty sure you can buy them from the grocer in Port Sarim, too.
  4. That's what I just suggested...banks and churches are the only safe zones...maybe stores or certain buildings containing NPCs since it's hard to defend when you're sorting your bank or trying to buy emeralds. Maybe all enclosed towns (Lumbridge castle, Varrock, Falador, for example) are safe zones, but exit town and there are real life muggers and thieves harrying you!
  5. Huh? With a free account, the friend can't make any correlation between the real money he paid and the money in the game. If he paid for his account, the hacker is hacking something that has value. In the same way, a person blackmailing for imaginary money can't be prosecuted for blackmail, but if it was a pay account, the money in the game has value.
  6. While making a thousandth or ten thousandth trip from the Varrock east bank to Aubury's magic shop in order to mine rune essence, I had a thought. Wouldn't it make sense to have one of the benefits of reaching 99 runecrafting that you could wear the skillcape then type in 'Senventior disthine molenko!" and no matter where you were, you could access the runecrafting site? I think this needs to be done. Granted...it'll take me a long time to get that far, but once you get to 99, it would make sense to make it easier to mine it for the truly dedicated.
  7. I think setting aside entire worlds for PKing would be fine. I would never visit it, but some people might. Make banks and churches the only "safe" zones.
  8. I don't think being killed is fun. I think it's important to cater to both people who like the PK aspect and those who don't. Confining PK'ing to an arena is the best decision. I like the new changes and hope they stay as is.
  9. If you hacked a free account, they won't take action. If you hacked a PAY account, they'd have to involve British police, since the Jagex firm is located there (right?). If you didn't hack his free account, he wouldn't be blackmailing you. If you didn't hack his pay account, he'd be blackmailing you.
  10. I like that...cheap and safe, huh?
  11. You certainly have the right to name your player whatever you wish, but was your character name a few letters and numbers strung together? I report bots all the time for not responding...if their combat level is low (doesn't have to just be 3) and they have a strange set of behavior (dropping gems and cash in addition to not immediately setting to work on tasks like mining when an open rock is there or cutting down a yew immediately when it re-spawns (waiting for the recognition software to kick in on the auto-er program) and they don't respond. Usually a response is a last resort, though I never threaten or reveal when I am reporting someone. If someone uses that as a first test, I'd say they don't know the game very well, because there are bans on writing, but not playing (for abusive language, right?) which would make it impossible to communicate that way, although a reponse might be an emote or running in a circle or following that person to show you're real. Basically, Jagex should start permanently banning bots when reported the first time, no questions asked, if it's found they're using a program, which once a report is filed, should be easier to discover. If you have a "pure" character, then play the game knowing you're really in a way breaking the spirit of the game. I for one have just one character, do everything with that one, and only use it while sitting at the computer. If you don't, I don't feel sorry for reports and bans. That's MY choice...as it is your choice in your player character names and their behavior while in the game.
  12. How long between spawns?
  13. Has it ever been specified whether the Grand Exchange spans all worlds or is it just available in the world you are in? Since I'm F2P, I noticed that certain things aren't available (or maybe just weren't up for sale) to buy. Is it perhaps split between F2P and P2P or by groups of worlds or types of worlds or ALL worlds?
  14. Ah...good point. I guess it's more likely a summoning reference, but since there are salamanders already...I don't know what I was thinking. I suppose the GEICO reference would only make sense to us Yanks...
  15. Well, I was going to post something similar to this before I read it, so I'm not stealing an award winning idea (and I cleaned up some of your grammar, too). That said, I agree. I've always wondered why advancing a level didn't fill up your gauge (and that goes for everything). Say you're out fighting and you advance a level in hitpoints...why shouldn't your gauge fill up? Maybe hitpoints could be an exception, but then, if you're "learning prayer" by burying bones, why wouldn't advancing a prayer level fill up your prayer gauge. Also, why doesn't praying at an altar raise your prayer experience, but fills your gauge? I know people would be kneeling at the altar all day long, but couldn't Jagex simply put a cap on times you can pray in one day (or one hour) at an altar? As for the bones idea, I first thought that would be a good idea, but you're just burying bones...it would artificially rise the price of them to higher levels and cause more problems with combat/shopping bots and congestion in bone producing areas. Instead, why not have a certain MAGIC allow you to turn bones into prayer points, like bones to bananas, but instead, say, 2 nature runes (to make it a little higher cost), 2 chaos runes, and 3 death runes per cast for a full inventory of regular bones or 1 nature, 1 chaos, 1 death per cast for 1 big bones at a time in your inventory for 5-10 prayer points, or 3 chaos, 3 death, and 3 fire runes per cast per dragon bones in your inventory, but have it fill up your prayer completely? Make it a level 80 magic or maybe even a prayer skill itself, which would make using it a little tricky so as not to over-abuse it. How about that for an idea?
  16. I've had that question in mind for a long time, not jsut since the update came out. People for a long time would advertise "full addy" or "full rune" and I'd try and buy, but they'd only put up the legs and plate...sometimes it would be legs plate and square shield. I don't think many people knew what a full set was...SO, my post was more than just for me. Perhaps people would be able to discuss what they'd always considered a full set and inconsistencies would be eliminated. As for being a jerk...you can convey information without being condescending. For that, and not the information itself, is why I said "don't be jerk".
  17. The Morse code near the bottom of the list of things to do on Postbag Pete's latest image (at the end of his newsletter) spells out GECKO. Is that anything more than a veiled GEICO (auto insurance) reference?
  18. SportsGuy posted a topic in Rants
A character just followed me world to world stealing my arrows that fell. I asked him to stop and he didn't even say anything, just walked out of nowhere and stole them. I wanted to report him, but there was absolutely nothing I could do.
  19. I didn't find it on the web-site, though I looked for it. So don't be a jerk about it. This was much quicker than looking through every page of their guide.
  20. I can make chocolate cake in F2P, but anchovy pizza seems to be listed as higher in HP recovery. I'm just wondering, is it a full pizza that is more HP or a bite?
  21. Are anchovy pizzas the best food to bring along on F2P? I'm not concerned about time to make them or fishing or anything, I just want something that will be efficient when fighting for restoring HP.
  22. Indeed. Somehow, a door making a clunk sound is not very funny...but the "destroy" sound is \ It's not the clunk sound, it's the (squeak?) sound after that sounds suspiciously like passed gas. I should have put that in originally, but I was trying to be polite. It's most obvious when the door automatically closes behing you after entering, like in a guild.
  23. I think mining a bunch of silver and then making silver tiaras works well. Plus, you get the mining and smithing exp...
  24. I wasn't aware that it was possible to place it on a table, but I didn't see anyone near it.
  25. What exactly is a full set? helm, body armor, shield, and legs or skirt? Is a matching metal weapon necessary? What if it's a set of stuff like the prince outfit or the zombie clothes or the mime outfit? I'm trying to figure out exactly what to "box up" at the grand exchange in order to save some space. A secondary question would be...is that even possible? If it's not tradeable, is it not sellable, therefore, not boxable?
