So I do subscribe to 'racial personal responsibility' in the sense that there is always a move we can do to improve some aspect of our lives we dislike. This isn't to diminish that some people really will have a harder time than others no matter what and depending on the metaphor here systemic barriers can prevent people from doing things entirely. But the reason why this is so useful as an antidote to learned helplessness is because people really underestimate how much agency they have in life. I'd be curious where you feel this falls flat though When a system is broken, you have two options: work around the system, or fix the system. Sometimes you can do both at the same time, but not always, and even when you can, it's not a failing to just want the system to work instead of taking the risk of going around it. Plus, like, it's just a very individualistic mindset, and we would be better off as a society if we were more community minded. Collective action is our most powerful asset against capitalist exploitation, after all.

As someone who's never followed politics and has never voted, I have no clue how you came to associate my perspective on dating with radical right wing beliefs. Not yours in particular, I suppose, but all the PUA figure heads I knew about turned into regressive political youtubers, so. And, I guess, in further fairness to you, that list might be a singleton containing Roosh V, but in fairness to me, a lot of PUA stuff is supremely sexist. Ultimately I guess I'm just saying it could have been a lot worse on the forum. These days I don't really associate myself with any kind of PUA/Manosphere/Red Pill stuff. When I was younger, I gave those communities the benefit of the doubt because I felt that their hearts were in the right place by encouraging men to become better versions of themselves. But now that I'm content with my level of success, I've had enough experiences to disprove a lot of their dogma and I no longer find it helpful to entertain their ideas. Not to mention a lot of their ideas are unfalsifiable and/or have been debunked as pseudoscience. In other words: they're right about many things (e.g. take responsibility for your life, go to the gym and develop healthy habits, etc.), but the things they're right about can be found elsewhere surrounded by less toxic ideologies; and the things that are unique to those communities are too misogynistic and pseudoscientific for my taste (e.g. the idea of alpha males and beta males; the idea that all women think/feel the same way about certain things). That being said, I apologize if I've said things to you in the past that came across as insensitive or hostile. That was not my intention and I hope we can let bygones be bygones. I think I'm done editing this post now :P That is heartening to read, and I agree with everything you've posted here, especially the "some good points, but there are much better vehicles" part. Idk that we'll ever see see eye to eye on, as Ring described it, "radical personal responsibility", but I'm glad to hear where you've ended up, at least.

Same, even though, mysteriously, I am unable to see any actual posts in this thread. It's very strange

I had something similar happen to one of my neighbors. It was absolutely not okay for people to be hunting and shooting where they were. That still did not justify vigilante justice. I sympathize with you: those hunters were awful, and should have faced legal consequences. But, being murdered just for being on someone's property, even if they're trespassing, is not a just punishment.

When I was like 10, I would go with my dad to a shooting range (for like clay pidgeons or w/e, idr what they're called now). I wasnt doing any shooting, I would just hang around while they went through the course. One day, my dad's friend handed me his gun, hung a clay pidgeon on a fence post, and told me to shoot it. I spent like 10 minutes repeating that I didn't want to, on the verge of tears, while the whole group, my dad included, kept telling me just to do it. Eventually, I just gave into the authority figures violating my clearly stated boundaries and shot the shotgun, except because I was scared of it and didn't know how and also I was [bleep]ing 10, I didn't shoulder it properly and the kickback majorly bruised my arm for like 2 weeks. Then, instead of caring about the fact I was hurt, the group admonished me for not at least hitting the thing. Twas a very traumatic memory. I didn't like guns before that, but after, I hated them so much. A year or two later, for reasons I have never been able to piece together, I took a gun safety class as an extra curricular in middle school. No clue why, did not plan to hold a gun, did not plan to ever hunt, did not want those opinions to change. But, I did take that class. Pretty much the only takeaway for me was to never point a gun at anything you weren't trying to kill, no matter if you think it's loaded. Based on that 1 takeaway, this is horrifying. Why would she shoot at them for real?? ESPECIALLY with a shotgun? That has a huge bullet spread, that seems like the easiest gun with which to accidentally hit a target you're not aiming at! God, that scares me just reading it.

Thanks for cleaning up, Cowman, it's very much appreciated for the handful of people still around. Be nice to have the place looking presentable, even as it's dying :P

Hey, this was the first bot to actually have a valid post!

Ok, what happened?
There's been a couple brief scares. The domain expiry date passed a while back and it went down right around that time, but it came back up again later, so someone's still paying. At least one of the OTers sent in an application to be moderated, but he was told he had too many (old) warnings, which basically means none of the people who were posting in OT could become a mod, because we all had 10+ lol. Someone else could try, but no one's really around to read the applications, so idk how much good it'll do.

Guess the person that's going to post below you!
So close Halo2

Ok, what happened?
I mean. If the mods are coming back here, then they know. It's just not really a valuable use of their time to clean this dead forum up. Which, is fair, if a little sad.
-
Ok, what happened?
There was an admin on for like 5 minutes a couple weeks ago, but he didn't make anyone (RPG) a mod, so no one's able to clean the place up.

Miss Hottie, Tip It edition
Alright, I'm intrigued. What's Tim Curry's TIF account? It's wild that he was on a runescape fansite, but maybe that's from before he was famous or something. Or, maybe you just mean he used Tip.it at one point, not the forums. Quite frankly, evidence of that would also be wildly interesting.
