  1. I'd like to add to the above posts: Jagex has said that they are considering making it possible to gain back a previously bought Chaotic weapon for a lesser cost, so the factor of time into cost might change, depending on the method required for reobtainment.
  2. Seems more like an over-reaction to be honest, considering Ranger's will get their version of Piety and be able to 1 spec anyone with a Dark bow on just standard potions.
  3. To maximize efficiency, you should do Ahrim as one of the last brothers and just bring some karil's armor or something for mage defence. He drains your stats, making the overload much less effective (however if you spec him to death quickly, I guess it wouldn't really be that much of an issue.) Edit: Also, kudos for going with the rapier. I got it too. Overload restores your stats every 15 seconds, so that's not an issue. He is doing ahrim first cause he's mage def is terrible, so he needs prayer. @rapier guy: You should use ardy cape though. + 6 stab, and more prayer bonus than a skill cape. One more thing: you value your overloads at 80k each or what? Can't see where else you got the 130 figure from. If you value your herblore xp, it's even much cheaper. I know about the Ardy Cape. I'm in the process of getting it. I just wanted to see what I could do without it. As for cost: The Overloads cost me ~27k per dose, and Super Prayer is about ~5k per dose. That makes the cost of both ~128k. I also use about half of 1% of the Rapier's Charge, so that's ~10k more. I don't count the food or tabs as a cost since I will not need to re-buy them any time soon. =p
  4. So I heard that Barrows is becoming popular again. Each round is done before the Overload wears off. I go Dharok -> Ahrim -> Karil -> Verac -> Torag -> Guthan. One dose of Super Prayer is enough to kill Dharok, Ahrim, and Karil with prayer. I take a dose of Super Prayer at the start of every new chest. I have 1 spare dose just in case I get an Ahrim tunnel. If I get 2, so be it. Spec Restores are there because I love abusing them and I have over 60k total doses to use. It also feels nice to be able to Spec Ahrim, Karil, and whoever is in the tunnel, and be able to do it again as soon as I exit the tunnels to start a new run. I can get 9 Chests an hour easily. I teleport every 4 chests. A round costs me 130k, so each chests costs me ~32k. I've yet to not make profit every round. Simple. Straight-forward. Cheaper then magic. And fast. I find all these complex inventory spreads silly.
  5. Better question: how is it bad?
  6. You just won the Internet today.
  7. Did you have the offer in as soon as the GE updated for the day, or are they crashing? Or do you just have the most epic luck ever? =p
  8. Dragonstone Ring (I). Also, subtract 1 because the Fire Cape provides +1. =p Again, this video: The person in the video, who is only 90 Attack, comes close to this 54% you talk about. He is missing out on the +20 Stab on the Defender because he is using Divine. With 99 attack and the Defender the only thing that would keep someone away from this magical number of 54% (which I'd love to know how you got) is the Random Number Gods. I didn't go through the entire video. I went through about 20% of it. Because I have things I'd rather do.
  9. Original post changed because I found it... off. Completely untrue. Give someone like ME a CLS vs Rapier, and I'd find rapier more useful. One thing most of these debates neglect is how useful the boosted accuracy is to people without overloads/extremes, maxed combat, and turmoil. I didn't put in piety because it's not that high leveled/I have it. I somehow doubt that if I tried both at Bandos GW, I'd find the Rapier the better choice. So you are saying that cls is better than rapier if you suck enough? Not the greatest advertisement for anyone to buy it, to be honest. And even by that logic, you will at some point suck little enough for rapier to be better and from then on, you've wasted 200k tokens. Also, as for most people the repair cost seems quite spicy(not that it is), most of the people who will be using these will not suck hard enough for cls to be better... So as a status report on this thread, can anyone think of places where the cls has a clear advantage over the rapier? because the opposite is true for a load of things. Only thing i can realistically think of is mithril dragons, as their defence is still a bit brisk(though i havn't tried with sup antifire yet). Na. Rapier rarely misses with Extreme Attack. Sometimes with Supers. You can kill the dragons fast enough for 2 drops to be visable from 2 different dragons, so 4 Dragons in about 2 minutes. Again, this is only with Piety.
  10. The Chaotic Rapier rips through Bando's GWD's Boss. I'll be able to do it with Overloads and Piety in... 2 days. The difference between me and him will be the fact that I will be taking advantage of the +30 stab bonus he sacrifices. And my attack is 9 levels higher. =p At Bando's GWD, Rapier > CLS.
  11. Those of us that aren't near Maxed, such as me (for slayer). =p Oh, and the debate has been going since release as to which one is better. Now that a few thousand people have the ability to use this bit of content these threads will cease to be more then speculation and real tests can be done and real experiences can be shared.
  12. I can see your logic, but there is 1 thing that is wrong: Longswords are speed 5, while the Rapier is speed 6. Your rankings remain the same, but, in stab and strength, the Rapier leads by a smaller margin. There is also the fact that other Strength bonus and attack bonus boosters aren't calculated. If you get a +54 bonus from your gear (the max, not including PvP gear), the Rapier will be able to make use of it more often and is a heavy factor as well. *edit* Miss-understood how the weapon speeds per second was calculated. Forgot about a small aspect in the system. Although he is correct, the second part of my post is still valid and is still something I think should be taken into consideration.
  13. Ya I was actually looking at the Rapiers slash attack as well lol and it's pretty good compared to whip. Rapier is most destructive weapon I've ever used as well. I've been killng tzhaar lately and fairly often I'm hitting 3-4 400s/500s in a row. These are pretty weak monsters, but I've been going to PoH's too. Somehow that I'm not sure of - although I'm 100% sure it's my Chaotic Rapier - I've been whooping ass just wearing void and fighting with Rapier on turmoil. I never even use a spec weapon. I've been finding it very common that I'm beating people in Bandos/Barrows armor just fighting with Rapier. I've even been killing multiple people in a row and surviving Dclaw specs and still winning. Anyways, that's just an example. I also don't get the arugment that Rapier looks bad and looks like a stick. How does it look like a stick? It actually looks different from other weapons. Have you see Chaotic Longsword? That thing looks lame, not the Rapier... The accuracy you gain from Void is insane. You make sacrifice some of your max hit, but it feels so good to hit Bando's GWD boss early every time with what some people call "a stick." Also, calling it a stick is just funny. "Hey. I just killed you by poking you with a stick!" Of course, the best thing about it is this: It can be called the C. Rapier, which reminds me of M. Bison, and we all know what he is like.
  14. I know exactly what you're saying. At house parties, Clan Wars, and even Pking people are calling it a "waste." The rapier is the most destructive weapon I've ever used in Runescape hands down and I can make asy work of most people with only Piety. With Turmoil and Soul Split... And the best part is that not only does it train strength, it's slash option is nearly as good as the Whip's. They have high stab defense? Switch to slash and you have a high-hitting whip.
  15. Well, there is a decent chance that it will be changed back. Too bad there is no way to know when that would be...
  16. you're forgetting prayer potions, super restore potions and super prayer potions, both directly through soul split, and indirectly through protection prayers I'm really glad they fixed this bug or game mechanic, whatever you call it. It's now more about strategy, not clicking a million times a minute when you pvp and pvm. This update lends itself to using the combat triangle, to adapting your gear to the fight, to hybriding, to compromising and not just relying on food to save you whenver your strategy fails. I've been a shark brewer, i've been a "pure-fooder" when i haven't bothered to click a ton, just wanting to relax. I don't think I've disagreed more with anything else in my life. How is expecting a potion to act similarly to every other potion in the game "bug abuse?" And to your first point, 16*4 aka 64 is how much each brew heals per inventory spot which is greater than any thing else in the game barring stackables. Okay you drink 64 doses of sara-brew and tell me how nice it attacking something with your 1 attack, 1 strength, 1 magic, and1 range. But, I know what you are going to say. Why of course I will bring 16 super restores as well. So in the beginning when the stupid pot came out you would have drank a sara brew, lost fast combat round (rapid knife speed), drank super restore, lost fast combat round, drank super attack, lost fast combat round, drank super strength, lost fast combat round, drank super def, lost fast combat round, and your ready to melee again. No idea when this bug appeared, probably during one of the many stupid runetek updates for the sake of graphics.... But, hey its fixed now so lets all cry about it... not. I stand corrected. Btw, it's been around for 5 years and there is a very good chance that it will be changed back.
  17. By Paul on the RSOF: **** YA! Quick find code: 164-165-119-61107156
  18. As much as I hate Libs... I can't help but agree. This isn't like the bursting issue. This is actually a major part of the high-end part of the game that was changed and I see no reason what-so-ever to warrent such a change.
  19. Yep, brews are now "useless" for soloing, I guess they're good for boss monsters that hit slowly over a longer fight as you're getting more space for them. However if you're in danger of getting killed and need to heal quicker, you're better with sharks. And now I just realised that Nomad still exists for me... That'll be fun without Brews in their old state...
  20. Hmg no new gwd update b uslesfgh122!!2 Anything's better then a wig and 2k def exp  :/ there is more than one case.... It is useless, but seems like alot fun to do. More like a distraction from everyday RS. Some cool outfit with the following cases and I consider this a good update. (although I thought it would be kinda lame  ) It will likely have a set effect that, when wielded with the Ring of Charos, will allow you to convince the Wise Old Man that it is in the best interest of the law to hand over his Party Hat.
  21. I expect so. I planned to do Arma solo. Now, idk. I don't feel good about eating a Monkfish as I have 4 things that can hit me for that Monkfish attack me at once.
  22. * You can no longer eat food and drink a Saradomin Brew at the same time. Really?... You can't even chug the brews alone anymore... They act like all other food... And to think I was going to Solo Arma for a while...
  23. Inexperienced player using his friend's high level account, is my best guess. Looks more like one of the suprisingly high number of people that think the CLS is better. Not surprisingly, they are wrong.
  24. Thank you. That's simply fantastic!
