Which reminds me, I can dislocate my jaw and make a very noisy sound by dislocating it or play a drum beat with it. Now that's something to amuse your friends with 8-)

I'm in a European country (England) and it isn't illegal here. In fact when you register with somewhere important like a university or a place of work you have to fill in a form which includes what race you are. The same was true for the census. The only difference is they use a P.C. term for it - ethnic background. It seems as though places have ethnicity quotas to fill. You can, however, refuse the information. ..Wow, and I thought I knew something about England. However England shares a very connected history of colonialism along with the United States, I haven't heard of any other european countries with ethnic quotas for jobs. It's a dumb system, just to have more "diversity" you must prefer one ethnicity over another. IMO it's just as dumb as the fact that recently the Norwegian government decided that all big companies must have 40% of the board members WOMEN. Can you imagine it? Yep, nothing based on diversity or race but.. Gender. On top of that, there is a 2 year deadline to finish the "womanization" (...) and there may not even be a decent amount of women suitable for these jobs. I've never had to fill one of these forms with race, but I always thought to insert 'elf' as a protest...

You two might have DSP syndrome. I was diagnosed with it at about age 10, and yes it did significantly affect my life because I found it very hard to wake up at about 6am for school, when I had gone to bed at about 2am last night (unwillingly, I just couldn't fall asleep before that).

I don't even fully understand why people in the first place have categorised people into "races". There are just different genetic traits that could pass on as stronger or weaker, and some people might have darker eyes, some may have darker skin, some may have lighter eyes... In most places of the world, they don't even categorise "races". In fact, this is even illegal in the European countries. Why in the States then, it is still used even on forms? Just a sad little memory from history that was forgotten to be wiped, that or there is really much more racism in USA than the rest of the world. USA apparently categorises people for all sorts of reasons; risk levels; how much credit they could be granted; education... Which makes no sense. If in the first place one ethnic group committed more crimes than the another, it doesn't mean it's "just because they're white/black/yellow/blue". It probably means the society is racist and doesn't want to adapt them as members of the society, hence they get bad jobs, unemployment, discrimination ->> incentive to go for criminal activity to get food on the table. Too many people look at the result instead of the cause.

I think the real question is...does it have a name? I call it that god damn stupid f****ing piece of **** on my f****ing neck that I want to chop off with a god damn weedeater. Of course that's not very catchy. I'm thinking about changing it to Bob. I can remember that as a teen 8-) Your whole face could be clean, yet there ALWAYS has to be one just to piss the heck out of you. I thought it couldn't be a medical explanation and I almost started believing it's a curse or something. I could never get fully rid of those red devils until about age. 16-17

I don't get it why do threads like this always have to attract flaming. What does it hurt you to accept other people's beliefs and instead of mocking them, bringing them joy? I don't belong to a religion. Still I study a lot of them out of curiosity. I never told anybody his/her religion is wrong. If you think your religion is right, then keep it to yourself, or if you want to debate it, tell other people why you think so. "I just do" is not a solid basis of belief, but then again, if it really is for you, I won't make fun of you. You made up your mind because of many variables in your life, and that's your life. That's so true. Sadly a huge amount of people never get past the immature stage emotionally, and fail to show any signs of honor or respect during their lives. Look, it doesn't HURT YOU to respect other people. If their beliefs are so strong and it means the world to them, stop mocking them or telling "my religion is the right one". There's no such thing as of yet.

I always wake up just a few seconds before the alarm on my cellphone goes off. It's freaking me out because it's not a coincidence, it's happened probably hundreds of times. Might have a disorder that I unconsciously count seconds in my head, but it's dumb. If I set it to alarm at 6.53 AM, I wake up at 6.52 and so on... Probably telling my doctor about it even though it's nothing serious. Sometimes useful, actually.

I may have just met one of the nicer people online (in AO)

I do it all the time. 8-) To me, all games are pretty much pointless after you've reached a certain level. In RS I did pretty much nothing but chill with newbies and help them with quests after I hit level 100 (which was a lot back then but nothing now). I found out while playing MMORPG's, especially people from Russia are friendly. They'll literally spend hours helping you when you don't know a damn about the game, and they don't even ask for any reward. On the contrary, I found out people from USA were in general the least helpful and social. Not to say I didn't make many american friends, because I did especially in Lineage. It's just that a lot of them are immature jerks, often aged 15 or less but even in the higher age groups they tend to have usually rough behavior. -

The word is inflated. Did she write a book that was the best selling book of any given category, or did she just write a book that was bought by a few people? 8-) In that case, she wrote a 'seller'... Since there can only be one best. -
You can get him legally, only after you've beaten the first three gym leaders. You go to the road to Saffron City and there's a trainer. As the ! sign pops up over his head, you must quickly press start, then fly to Saffron City. When you go left, a wild Mew #151 level 10 will attack you. It's a totally legitimate way of getting it and most 'underground' forums knew this code since the game came out, it's a hard coded and intended trigger in the game. Apparently the information came from the developers and is the only way to get it without GameShark codes (that could mess up the cartridge) Also if you play the Japanese version (pokemon green), you will get Mew by talking to the diploma guy in Celadon city after you have 150 pokemon. Then you can trade it to a red or blue. :)

I like the original movies very much, but  Would've saved them so much time to do this... "Think if we had walked all the way!" "One of us might've died..."

I made a semi decent text-based RPG with the C++ programming language, with about 1 month of experience (starting from scratch). Now, I think programming is very boring and just not my style of spending time... But if you are interested in it, it's actually easy to learn. :) I don't believe the "go for the simple ones first or you can never go for C oriented languages". C++ was my first one and I had no problems with it. I also made a very detailed text based DOS calculator with C++, which is probably one of the least challenging tools to write (but handy to have on your computer if you don't like the click-and-calculate version that comes standard with windows operating systems.. Or if you use Linux.

Laws themselves have no power. They are just a bunch of letters on a paper. What matters is the people who believe in it's power. If we lived in the stone age and were able to read and write, we could have a law that says 'the biggest guys of the tribe get 50% more gold and meat' and nobody would say it's an unfair law because that's what the other people believe is right. Death penalty is still an option in the US because some conservative elements (but many other people as well) *believe* it's a good punishment. Europe on the other hand banned the death penalty ages ago because the people believe it's an unjust punishment, especially if you aren't sure the guy is guilty.. Just to find out 20 years later with more advanced DNA testing he had nothing to do with the murder.

What Do You Want To Do With YOUR Life? ~Share Your Dreams~

Lol, I can't believe how few people actually think like that. That makes two of us then. It's just my opinion but I could never stand working as a slave in practice just to 'live' for all my life. I view life from a neutral/objective point of view: You either have money or you don't. Then there's social relations and whatnot. Your "job", i.e. what you are forced to do 8 hours a day even if you don't like it, IMO is not a necessary human function. (I live off investments and have done so for years) -
I don't find the RPG's childish at all, some of the TV episodes are a different story altogether. I read on my mobile phone news that you actually play as a pokemon this time. I'll check it out or if I feel 'evil', do a bit of emulating... :)

The Samurai. I've yet to find anybody abiding by such a pure ethical code and I'm striving my best to do so. I don't have any role models other than that, though I think Nelson Mandela was a real (allow me to use the rough expression) badass for keeping his head sane through 20 years of unfair imprisonment, and justfully became the president of South Africa because of public compassion and admiration. He isn't actively involved in international politics any more though, which is a shame.

You're not really looking into the reasons why most long-term prisoners don't get "rehabilitated". 1. Employers, sometimes even those of cleaning companies, will not accept workers who have any kind of criminal past. 2. When applying for a job, it is not exactly a positive advantage amongst the other "normal" applicants that for the last 8 years you were sitting in a prison. 3. If you can't even get into a crappy job, no further education possible, why would the crirminal settle to live with $1000 bucks a month for the rest of his life when he can go back to his mafia business, potentially not get caught and live with $1000 bucks a day? True, but *in theory* the punisher is committing a crime too, and thus his left eye must be blinded too. The person who punishes the punisher also blinds somebodys eye based on "justice", thus eventually all punishers will be blind. Well, if used on people who would otherwise be sentenced to death, I doubt it. There are only a handful of convicts, and companies like Ford Motors already lay off tens of thousands of employees and that's not even a really lower class job. Jobs will be lost anyways.

I have similar feelings sometime, and it's pretty sad. European history at it's best is the Roman Empire which was still brutal but so many huge advancements took place, religious freedom at least until the christian reforms, immense advance in the legal field which still affects laws and constitutions around the world... On the other hand, our near-history is pretty saddening to read from an objective perspective (but fortunately the whole of Europe can't be grouped into one group of people), because what really is Europe after Rome is plundering, wars, rape of foreign countries and their populations, exploitation, etc. while huge advances were taking place in the fields of mathematics, medicines, sanitation in China, Japan and Arab countries.

Overefficiency is ridiculous, people NEED breaks to avoid stress that could ultimately tire you so much you couldn't even get up to school/work in the mornings. Good things to do.. Listen to music, watch TV, read. I wouldn't suggest video games though, that's just me. Sometimes in life, no matter what "deadlines" and "timetables" your projects or 'necessary' work have, you must let it slip. Not always, but once in a while. Sure there are those who can work almost 24/7, but for how long they can keep it up or how it will affect them 10 years later, we don't know.

i totally agree. imagine spending your life in an indonesian prison. (sorry to any indonesians out there but some australians [where i'm from] have been imprisoned in indonesia lately and thier prisons look/are made out to be a terrible place to live) Indonesian prisons are Hilton hotels compared to some prisons in the world. Watch some documents where the reporters actually sneaked into Syrian, North Korean and Nigerian prisons. You won't believe that another human being could treat you like that even for the slightest crime. (Systematic flogging with iron [bleep]e-empowered whips, removal of fingers for asking why you are there, prolonged starvation, using fire on you...) After a serial killer spent a few WEEKS in the worst prisons of the world he would beg for the life of himself to work in a coal mine for the rest of his life, failing that he'd probably just take his own life. He produces energy for the country and has practically no living costs other than food (and probably a tent).

Which is basically the Code of Hammurabi, the oldest code of laws to date from 1780 BC. The current western law system is based entirely on the opposite principles, as the system is very ineffective. In ancient Egypt, if you built a house with crappy mortar and a part of it collapsed, as a punishment a part of your house would be broken by the soldiers. Which is especially unfair if it was a humane mistake. And the classical example, if you blinded another man's left eye, your left eye would be blinded too as a punishment. It might sound good for a while but if you start excercising it to all situations and crimes it becomes not only impossible to enforce but very expensive and brutal.

He wasn't an absolute monarch... If the PM as you say rigged the elections (keyword elections) would their monarch's power be absolute? And btw their king has always been there ever since the late 40s/early 50s... He has seen dozens of governments, democratic or not. And he remains a figure head. Or right now, probably being used by the generals... Its too early to say. :-k The UK has a queen. She has no power, but she's still there. Tony Blair and his cronies have all the power. That's like how it is in Thailand, except the MONARCH has all the power and the PRIME MINISTER is *elected* to do insignificant tasks like diplomatic duties. What little power the PM actually posseses (possesed), he uses (used) mainly for fulfilling personal obligations. Even though the military is overthrowing him, the king will still be in complete control of the government. In short, Thailand was never a democracy, therefore democracy in Thailand cannot "rest in peace." Sorry, but you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. You might want to read up http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politics_of_Thailand The monarch has NO legal powers even under the former constitution. Let me quote a few exerpts: Which in practice is a similar position as that of the Japanese Emperor at the moment. Just as in the United Kingdom or Japan, the monarch appoints a prime minister. This does not mean he or she can restrain from doing so. The leader of the majority coalition or party is in 100% of the cases also the prime minister, such as Tony Blair or the former Junichiro Koizumi. Other than being a figurehead with strong national authority and sometimes interfering with serious ethical debates, the king does not take an active part in the country's politics.

You can't criticise the removal of the previous regime it was corrupt, it was virtually a dictatorship. However, what is the point of removing a virtual dictatorship and then implementing a total military dictatorship instead. If the general declared his dedication to restore fair democracy as well as a timetable for national elections then I would support this revolution however, until then I have to be critical. Don't by any means take this as personal. I'm just wondering where you guys get your information, one of the first things reported about the coup was the general's intent to choose a new prime minister as soon as possible and a parlamentary election timetable, scheduled for 2007.

I've watched both and don't get your point. You are also quite light-handed at judging people and sentencing them to death. If you have absolute proof somebody has murdered another person with full intent and doesn't regret it, harsh punishment methods like this could be used. If you are unsure and the person cries, insisting he is innocent, how can you put him to the sword? What about those people who already died, yet 20 years later it was discovered they had nothing to do with the crime? And seldom, is there absolute proof of a crime like murder. I'd think twice before ending a human's only life. It doesn't matter what costs (though it's true that legal costs exceed all other costs in this matter), what matters is the fact that each time a person is executed, millions of tax dollars are burned on 'punishing' one person. Why not at least put him to jail for 40 years? Not only does it cost less, it makes the killer suffer himself. How can you suffer or feel punished when you are dead?
