  1. I have problems going to sleep when "normal" people do. Not just problems, serious problems. I can wake up at 7am and still be up at 5am the next morning having slept zero hours and not feeling tired at all. You can imagine the pain when you should meet somebody or go to a regular job at 9am then, and the sleep starts kicking in, it strangles your brain... You could easily become dependent on semi-drugs like taurine, drinking tons of it in the form of red bulls, battery, etc. just to stay awake. I went to a doctor for it when I was 17, I couldn't take it anymore. Know what? This wasn't something I could control, this was something in my genes and heritage, they found out by the medical records my father has had this, and he'd told decades earlier his father had this too. I can't remember the exact term for the 'disorder'. --- If you are excited by your TV/PC/Phone, and go to sleep at 11pm instead of 10, you need to have the willpower to control yourself. That's nothing serious. If you really can't sleep until it's like 3-5am (or just don't fall asleep at all) even though you woke up early, seek medical advice. It's rare, but it can happen to anybody. Even me, I thought all my life it was true when my mother said "I'm just lazy in the morning". Turned out that wasn't the case.
  2. Being on a strict gym diet will drive you crazy over time, you (read: I) will either become maniacally depressed/frustrated, or you'll allow yourself a big set of hamburgers once per month. Grilled stuff.. Is awesome. :) Still I find limiting what you eat and taking in proper amounts of protein/carbs/vitamins is a much healthier way of living, though many find this too limiting to your life. But it can prolong and improve your overall health greatly.
  3. That's so wrong on many levels. Prostitution affects and hurts people on all levels of society. It hurts the women who were lied they'd get a nice office career in another country. It creates more workload for an already overworked police force. It spreads HIV/Aids even further. The tax authorities can't tax that income. You can't even start to compare prostitution to being gay. Prostitution is a business. Being gay is a biological feature which doesn't hurt anybody or affect anybodys life other than that of your partner and direct family possibly. As far as I understood people, including you, still survive today because they adapted to the current reality. Your ancestors could've been vegans eating berries and vegetables for thousands of years, but if the climate started getting cold and crops died, they started eating meat to survive. (Not a direct analogy though because there were gay people even back then, they probably werent interested in reproducing though) Sure you can survive with racist/homophobic/demeaning 'religious' values, just probably not to an extent you'll become any significant success in life. You know, doing business or working anywhere these days means understanding and accepting people are different than you. Over 70% of the world's population isn't christian and don't conform to your values. You should understand that. I understood that a long time ago (yes, I was baptized at birth)
  4. Yep, it seems ComCast is starting to throttle BitTorrent traffic, a huge operator in the States... This is sad, people actually start using their bandwidth, this happens... Not just that, but their price actually rolls up after a few months of service. That's a horrible business practice. After limiting BitTorrent traffic... And usenet groups.. Who the heck will buy a 8Mbps connection anymore.. :-s
  5. Pff.. You call a toast a bread.. Funny kids.. This is a bread... One of those every morning with plenty of stuffing, if you'll have a busy day and need to eat, you have that as a breakfast. Not a puny triangle of bread :P Unless you want to become a midget by eating so little, and I by the way have nothing against midgets
  6. You'll care when this happens to your kid, assuming you live in the US when/if you have kids... Put yourself in his shoes. You can't limit a person's freedom regardless of his age by restricting his right to draw. Instead of concentrating on the "more important things" like you said, like the teachers concentrating on teaching the kids something they could actually use later in life, they're doing this, which is a horrible waste of resources and taxpayer money.
  7. Here's an example: You can accept a liar, and accept the fact that that is how he/she is, and that's how he/she lives their life. That doesn't mean you accept the act of lying and doesn't mean you believe its a just and moral thing to do. Lying hurts other people and distorts reality to those they lie to. Homosexuality is a biological feature of that person and it doesn't harm me or you or anybody else in the society mentally, physically, financially or any other way. Think your children saw a dolphin in an aquarium. Dolphins are one of the species in which natural homosexuality occurs. Would they be less of an aquarium attraction were they gay? No, it doesn't hurt the business of the aquarium. Why should anybody care, since most of the time it's not even visible.
  8. If there's intelligent life outside of Earth, which is statistically speaking nearly sure, they're probably intelligent enough not to make any sort of contact with us after they've seen the kind of sick stuff the inhabitants here do to each other and how things are run here. If they exist.. They're probably having a really good laugh at us. :)
  9. I listen to all sorts of music without discrimination, sadly I found most death metal to be utter trash that can be barely described as, or compared to "music". Pretty much like the pop scene with lots of horrible cliches and repetition. Dimmu Borgir and Norther are exceptions though, they make good quality DM which is also great to listen to, unique vocals (though Dimmu Borgir has a few corny lyrics but the songs as a whole sound good) There might be other good ones (and there sure are), I'll check out some listed on this thread. :) I also found a semi-old DM band called Vader, which has some good songs. It's polish or something, the stuff sounds pretty original. Might want to check it out if you've already listened to everything else.
  10. I wasn't bullied in school, I was fortunately pretty big, but I have the utmost despise against bullies and I have an agenda to revenge bullies who have picked on my friends/family members in childhood and are still arrogant [wagon] as adults. They behave that way just because nobody ever told them what they're doing is disgusting and cowardly, or they realized this, and kept doing it anyways because they're twisted. They need a reality check. They're the same kind of people who cheat in online games, steal accounts, scam others... And later in life as adults resort to lying, cheating, stealing, violence... They'll do anything despicable to bolster their tiny ego and further their own advantage.
  11. While this is a real acknowledged issue, Jagex hasn't given any info on rc'ing bloodrunes yet. The reason is unknown. :? All we can do on the forums is speculate, if you're a P2P member, you should write about this to Jagex's customer support (especially if this issue concerns you if you have a high runecrafting level), the more aware they are of the issue the more likely they'll fix it.
  12. That's fine, people can believe whatever the heck they want, but if science proves apples contain water and are green, and a religious nut says apples are blue and contain snake venom since they were infested by the snake of Eden, who's right? A belief doesn't change reality. Reality, like nature (as posted above) is neutral. It isn't evil or good. It just is. If I'm stating dinosaurs existed (which is undisputable fact), I'm not saying a 'good' or 'bad' thing. I'm just saying what the neutral truth and what really happened. If I'm saying apples aren't poisonous and they are usually green, I'm not saying evil or good things. I'm just saying what the scientific truth is. Whether some tribal person or religious fanatic decides to disagree with me is irrelevant. My opinion and belief on the matter has no substance. What has substance is the fact I have evidence the apple is green and not poisonous. I can pick it from a tree, hold it in my hand, show it to you and eat it, and I will be alive in years from now on.
  13. Haha, I haven't played RS for like 4 years and I got that joke  Read up on the RS news items if you're not sure what the pun on the eaten corner means.
  14. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/6944176.stm So ISP's can sell and market broadbands under slogans like "get 8mb per second blazing fast internet access" as long as the customers don't actually use that bandwidth? What did they expect, all their customers to be 70-year old pensioneers who read their email once a week? If you buy a high speed internet connection, you have the right to use it. It's the ISP's fault for not having enough capacity as promised. This is sick. I hope UK internet users will switch away from ISP's that raise your monthly fees because of this. What's next? Bus companies telling businesses like Fujitsu and Nokia: "Hey guys... We thought to tell you we hate the fact you have so many employees that use our buses coming to work every morning, they are forcing us to buy new equipment. So we're going to double the ticket prices or you can stop using our bus lines."
  15. But after the egg is developed enough it could hatch, killing it is "murder". Because without the external action of a human (in the case of an egg any human, in the case of a fetus, a mother) the egg could've hatched into a healthy animal. If the egg is unfertilized or not has no influence on its living ability. A young human fetus (less than 3mth) has absolutely no way to stay alive were it taken out of the mother's womb. It's just a part of the mother.
  16. It wasn't a random check. It was purely based on his last name that a terrorist 3 years ago had. By his looks he could easily be greek, turk, maybe indian, (he is Saudi Arabian). But because he's a muslim and he shared a last name with a terrorist from Pakistan, he gets triple checked? What makes you think terrorists can't recruit white, christian children to do their dirty work for them? Why isn't "Johnny Smith" exempt from a triple security check? You'll wonder about this once this sad scenario will most likely become true in the near future.
  17. I've read extensively about this subject but I can't make up my mind. Abortion is a true sensitive subject (I don't consider homophobia, racism etc. as sensitive issues as abortion, most people who practice those are just plain ignorant) According to most western countries laws, a woman has the 100% ability and right to control her own body. A baby 1-2 months old is just an extension of her at that moment, it's not something that could live on it's own. "Legal" doesn't mean ethical or moral though... After a lot of thinking I came to the same conclusion as BlueTear: Once the baby inside the womb could sustain itself alive given care and nurture, aborting it is murder and an unethical decision on behalf of the mother who should at the least give up the baby for adoption as a last resort. I don't see how aborting a fetus in the age range of 0-3 months is "murder" though, or even immoral. You can't 'murder' something that can't biologically be alive (in this case, without being connected to the mother) Think about breaking a hen's egg. You aren't murdering an animal. Given the egg has been held in, say, a fridge, it doesn't even have the capability to be alive. It isn't developed enough to be considered "alive". Neither is a human fetus less than a few months old.
  18. Wow, did you even read the garbage you linked to? You call these facts? LMFAO  Why is the article quoting something from the 1940's and what is "the Kinsey study"? This comment on the article you posted sums up your "facts" perfectly: (Comments are located under the 'citations')
  19. I'm not a christian but I've studied christian theology and I totally agree with you. Some gay people do tend to make a huge deal out of getting married in a church, while a lot of gay people can live just fine without having to sign a form and sing praises in a church to "formalize" their relationship. But then again... Why can gay women and men get married in churches in countries like The Netherlands, South Africa, Canada etc.. But not in other countries like the USA? I'm pretty sure God wont care which country you were born in if you ever meet him. It's an issue of society, not religion. There are much more close minded and conservative people in power in USA than there are in Holland/SA/Canada and other countries. One thing struck my eye though: What if they're devoted christians? They can't force themselves to change their biological behaviour and genes. You can't start eating your own excrement for lunch just because you're told you "must". It's simply impossible, or you'll get depressed and ruin your life. And as far as I know, according to christian theology God made all humans. A human doesn't choose his/her sexuality, just as they don't choose their skin color, genes, or other factors they can't control. Trying to change a real gay person straight is like a white person trying to force himself to be physically asian. You can't do it.. To a gay woman/man having sex with the opposite gender is just as gross as 2 people of the same gender having sex is to you.
  20. Yeah, the computer system didn't know it, but maybe an airport official (an educated human) would have 2 bits of brain and understand a man arrested post-9/11 for hijacking a plane is probably not 7 years old. There's lots of kids who can fly planes you know.
  21. Just because he shares a last name with somebody he's never even heard of? You want to go to the french disneyland just to get your kid checked on 'high level threat checks' because "Smith" was also the surname of a canadian separatist organisation's leader that had committed murders and encouraged suicide bombings for an independent Quebec (issue which is real though not with the violence)? The kid must feel pretty damn bad, it's a shame he'll get a distorted view of America. All I can hope is he doesn't channel it negatively. The people of america aren't like that, officials and the government make up the public image. Not the average honest Joes.
  22. That's sick, victory of being a mindless robot over using common sense. The mother is right, this kind of stuff pretty much happens "only in america". War on terrorism my [wagon]. Keep arresting first grader kids instead of spending security resources on something that actually matters.
  23. Bubsa the Goblin... But seriously, who makes an entire website devoted to finding and photographing mullets  All kinds of obsessions these days.
  24. Surprisignly this post has a lot of accurate information. :) Except Well you can't exactly do that.. But you can burn fat while building muscle mass. Just don't believe ridiculous fairytales about "turning fat into muscle". You want to get rid of your "man boobs"? So I'll start from the assumption you don't really want to bodybuild or anything, yet. Your options are liposection (don't.. Go for this option.. Unless it's a last resort and you tried everything and your genes are unfit for losing weight which is very unlikely) The other is losing general weight. Contrary to what you might believe it's not possible to use one of those 'weight losing belts' and lose weight only in a certain area of your body. You can't have 1 sagging hand and the other with a rock hard bicep. I wrote so many detailed diets and programs on so many forums.. It's pretty much a waste. You don't need to read through 500, 100, 10, heck even 5 pages of text on "how to lose weight". You must consume more energy in a day than what you take in. Try this web based calculator: http://www.stevenscreek.com/goodies/calories.shtml As your goal is only losing weight, that calculator can be extremely useful for you. Keep in mind your base calorie consumption per day (even if you don't do anything, merely sleeping and existing) is pretty high, it's directly proportional to your weight. 1 pound of fat= 3500 calories. Your daily required healthy food intake (you said you weight 175 pounds): About 2465 calories. So if you wanted to take off just 1 pound of weight every week (without even excercising), you'd need to eat 500 less calories per day. For example a 20 ounce coke bottle has 500 calories. Walking for 2 to 3 miles will also burn about 200-300 calories. If you started dropping off that 1 bottle of coke and running/walking a few miles daily, you'd lose 1 to 2 pounds of weight per week. The more general weight you'll lose (you'll still be healthy without those 500 calories you'd ingest otherwise), the less you will notice your 'man boobs', and they will eventually disappear. Keep in mind though, at your age a male person's testosterone and estrogen levels are not in balance yet. You could even be otherwise pretty slim but still have "man boobs". There's absolutely nothing you can do to prevent that from happening even if you have a healthy diet. They will disappear most often by age 16-20 completely.
  25. "Society" is a natural extension of the "right of the strongest". The moment a man realized he can use sharp objects, fire and stones as weapons against his fellow men and subjugate them, taxing, raids, slavery was founded. When he realized he can use his subjugated group of people to pillage even more people and get rich himself without having to work, you get "feudal system". It's human nature to abuse power and violate others (sadly). No matter how much you tried to make people better, there would be always a few ruthless individuals crushing all efforts for peace. Think, it's still the same today. What is power based on, in every single country? That if you don't obey the power, violence will be used against you (literally, or your freedom will be violated by throwing you into a jail etc.) These days, it's just not warlords using that power on you, it's the organized army and politicians you elect. You can't have power without holding the ultimate tool of violation, which is violence. Such as controlling the army or the police who can legally use violence. It's the only universal punishment to keep people in check, the thing all people understand to fear.
