  1. If you want true freedom, social equality, justice, free education, guaranteed social services and healthcare to all citizens, move to a Scandinavian country (in northern Europe in case you're ignorant) Seriously I've lived in the US for most of my life and nothing could be further from the truth than saying "USA is the land of the free". True propaganda. Heck, in USA there are people who can't "afford" to get sick. People who can't even afford a rent so they're forced to live on streets. People who need to work 3 jobs to survive and feed their family. And that's not just a minority, that's millions of citizens. For real democracy go to europe, preferably the northern part. And no, they don't have the right to bear arms. You need a license. What's that noise I hear? "I need a M4 automatic rifle for hunting deer"? Who the heck needs a weapon firing 800 rounds per minute for hunting animals for sport?
  2. Interesting, because all of the plane hijackers were from Saudi Arabia, including the supposed planner bin Laden (who himself applauded the attacks but said he didn't directly plan it himself), and "terrorists" are local militia armed with mostly poor weapons and homemade rockets. But I'm sure if your country gets invaded tomorrow, you'll just obediently sit inside your house and let them take your stuff. (Wouldn't be a surprise for a western society really) And don't be surprised if the other country's media calls you a "terrorist" if you dare fight back against the occupiers.
  3. ..Why?? :| I understand if you eat them, but.. I don't get it.. The same people who oppose stealing, having premarital sex, abortion, same sex marriage.. Kill random innocent animals like mice, sheep... For fun, which they aren't even going to eat? If somebody seriously tortures animals/shoots them for entertainment, fine, but they should shut the hell up about opposing gay rights/abortion/whatever... Your opinion has no value if you murder for fun.
  4. I love the american education system... And I love the people who can't even locate Iraq (or even it's general direction) on a world map supporting the war because there are "terrorists over there". Fun world. Sad thing those same people who can't sell half a dozen nuggets because they don't exist, are allowed to make a small difference by voting though. :-k As a result people die, it makes no sense.
  5. Read some Maddox articles. For the exact same reason why people repeat "I'm Rick James, B____!" or "Alllllrighty then" just after Top Gun was out... Unoriginal, but many people lack imagination so they use old cliches until it becomes too repetitive. They usually die out within months/years like the Chuck Norris 'facts'
  6. Because those people are distant "they's" and their life is worth ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâý less than a 'white' child's life, right? After all, parents in other than european and american countries don't feel sadness, they don't cry, they aren't desperate. They don't care about having their child abducted because the kid is worth nothing. Only a kid who can draw media attention and ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã800,000 pounds of donations is worth saving right? Tell your parents 10,000 kids get abducted/kidnapped for ransom all over the world every day, and they'll tell you it's just a statistic and a number. Tell them a 4 year old white kid from an idyllic british middle class family gets kidnapped on holiday and they'll feel sorry for her family and send ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã500 to help find her. Heck, just admit it, if the kid was an ugly fat girl with thick glasses, nobody would care right now no matter how british she was?
  7. (Moved) As you probably realized, when 'autoers' are banned in large quantities, certain supplies become less available, especially those that can be gathered fast like fish.
  8. With neutral regard towards this study (not sure if it's fake or not), I wonder why people take cancer causing materials/edible food/drinks so lightly. :? Those people don't just spout statistics for fun. They dedicate years into research to come up with reliable results which have possibly involved human subjects. You know, people who DO die of cancer (hundreds of thousands of people every year in USA alone) aren't just a statistic. They're teachers, parents, businessmen, students, lawyers... It happens to everybody. Cancer,in most cases, doesn't just appear by itself. It's triggered by consuming too much harmful food, drinks.. Tobacco.. Excessive sugar, salt, etc..
  9. He said there aren't many people his age in that area, that's a huge problem. It will easily drive you into spending most of your time on games since you want something interactive and your society most likely can't provide that. How many 16 year olds seriously want to play teletubbies with kids or bridge with seniors.. All day? Start a physical hobby or a sport to set your mind off the game for a while 8-) Go to the gym or play football, tennis... You don't have to completely stop gaming. If somebody is hopelessly addicted to reading books, he can still have a balanced life and read books 2-4 hours a day, preferably on evenings (but that's your choice)
  10. I work 22 miles away. I go to school 18 miles away. There isn't any public transportation where I live, and it is impossible to get to work or school any other way than car. Firstly, it would take forever. Secondly, it is very dangerous, there isn't any place to ride the bike other than on the road, which at points has lots of steep hills with blind curves on them. Thirdly, it is illegal to ride a bike on the expressway, and the only other way to work adds another 3 miles. It isn't because of laziness, it's because there is no other way. There's nothing wrong with that, like I said if you must travel 20+ miles daily, you probably wont consider biking or walking. I wouldn't either probably But starting up a SUV to rent a movie and buy some drinks less than a mile away? That's what America is doing all the time. It's the core of the problem. You don't need to take the darn car everywhere. "I can do whatever I want, it's a free country" Sure, keep destroying the atmosphere and consuming oil so you feel more comfortable. Soon there won't BE a free country where you can do stuff. (Not addressed at you, in general)
  11. You can't just say if the Europeans can afford it so can the Americans. Gas use per person per year: Europe: 275.6 (liters) United States: 1,593.1 (liters) So a person in the US spending $3 a gallon on gas spends a GREATER percentage of their income on gas than a person spending $7 a gallon in Europe. Europe: ~15% of total population is overweight (Population: 490,426,060 [about 500 million]) USA: ~65% of total population is overweight (Population: 301,139,947 (about 301 million) Ride a bike or use public transportation, problem solved. Europeans manage to do it, we can too. Being lazy isn't a reason; Or it is, you'll just have a higher chance of dying of heart diseases and other problems caused by obesity and overweight though.. The only reason USA is dependent on cheap gas is because of laziness. Stop using the car so much for short distance, use it only for trips that take like 20+ miles, and you wont have to buy so much gas. Absolutely nobody is forcing you or anybody else to buy gas. Price of meat skyrockets? Eat chicken. Soda costs 5x? Drink water. Gas costs 3x? Ride a bike, use a bus, train, subway, walk.. :-s

So why is it O.K. in poorer countries, but in "enlightened", "modern" and "western" societies it's considered a crime? Why in some of those poor African countries is it the norm for their Tyrant of a dictator to chop off peoples hands and murder people for thier land, and it is such an outrage to us? I really can't understand how you compare those two things... -.- Like an american comparing robbery to public breastfeeding (which happens)... Does nudity kill or harm people in those countries? .. (Tyrants and dictators exist and have existed everywhere, in Europe, Asia, Africa... It has nothing to do with the culture of the country, it has everything to do with the financial situation and poverty of the country)
  13. Let's take a look at the CIA world factbook shall we? United States pays $3 per gallon, europeans pay $7+ per gallon. What the .... is the problem with some americans thinking they own the world and are entitled to cheap gas? Do you see Europeans sending chain letters to bring down the price of gas even though their prices are double that of USA and they make less money on average? You should be happy you're lucky enough to have $3/g and not having to pay more. You can't compare gas prices to children dying. That's ridiculous. You CAN fork out $7 per gallon if Europeans can. You can't rise a dead child from the grave.
  14. Current european gas prices: 1 litre (0.25 gallons): EUR 1,20-1,40 1 Gallon of gas for europeans: EUR 5.6 ==$7.53 Whine more? Even $4 per gallon would be dirt cheap let alone a bit over 1 buck.

So why is it O.K. in poorer countries, but in "enlightened", "modern" and "western" societies it's considered a crime? In my opinion its because not everyone is in a fortunate enough financial position to be clothed in some of those countries, while there's a lot more worse things going on in those countries such as poverty and crime for the authorities to be caring about if someone is clothed or not. In contrast to this, the Western world has the "luxury" to enforce this. They make their own clothes, but they choose not to hide certain parts of their body. This is common in many cultures in asia and also africa and southern america. It's not a financial issue
  16. NATO forces in Afghanistan; Mostly americans; kill tens of civilians per every "airstrike" to kill one rebel leader who is later found out to be alive. Every single week. Read this article to understand the situation better. There is no "uproar" when the US army inflicts mass civilian casualties. The only "uproar" is caused when a british 4 year old girl from an idyllic british family gets kidnapped abroad. Tens of thousands of foreign "trash" kids get raped, murdered, forced to labor, recruited to war every week too, but there's no cause for uproar because they aren't "humans" after all, right? They're just some inexistant people and statistics in a distant country?

  18. Why do people get education, invest, save money, work for promotions..? People are greedy, they are no longer content with just having: 1. food, 2. drink 3. shelter 4. entertainment. People give meaning to their lives by buying: 1. better food, 2. expensive drinks, 3. big houses and mansions 4. pools, plasma TV's, sports cars, etc. on the expense of nature. When you live a "normal" and "safe" life for decades, you will eventually become bored and want something more. Most people will. That's why you can't use a system like communism, most people don't want to be just like everybody else. Too idealistic People have jealousy, envy, greed, lust. They want to be better than their neighbours. If it wasn't for capitalism, it would be people hoarding general resources like water, food, wood, and using them to extort people who are poor and want to live. That's how humans have been since the caveman. Sorry but people in general will use every advantage they can to be 'better' than others

Is it against the law in Africa? That might be the reason. Laws are made by humans. The humans in certain African states have no laws on restricting public nudity because it's common and happens every day there, people don't mind. The humans in western countries see it as a shameful, embarrassing thing and could make you even go to jail for it. Who is right?
  20. I agree with the person who reported this thread, this doesn't qualify as a discussion and is already almost a flame war
  21. There's already 1 thread for the program Lost.. For example this one 8-) http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=653354 Bluelancer
  22. I have a longer ring than index finger. (I failed math [d-] and got A+ on english and A on russian besides knowing a few other languages as well) So.. As much as I hate internet owls and cat images, this is what I want to send to that article's writer 8-) ..If your middle toe is longer than your big toe, you will have a 57% greater chance of making crappy articles than people who have a bigger big toe...

What makes you say that? I mean, besides your subjective opinion? It's clear you replaced the word 'modesty' with an emotional term 'shame' to make your point look more valid, but if you put (what I think is the) correct word (modesty) in place of shame, your sentence looks quite invalid. Societies that have no widespread media or television don't have any problems with this issue; Why walk around with tons of clothes even during summer? They even have old people walking around with little to no clothes. These people live a much more natural life than western societies, hence (from a subjective POV) this is more 'normal' than concealing yourself all the time. I'm not an exhibionist by the way.
  24. Gallup polls don't work that way. They have an extremely accurate history of being correct, and the error margin is about 1-3% usually. It worked recently in East Timor, the polls showed about 70% general support for the prime minister to become president, he recieved about 72% of the vote. It worked for the french presidential election with about no error. It worked in USA in 2000/2004 (though, because of the electoral college system, Al Gore lost despite having more popular support) It has worked thousands and thousands of times. Just remember, properly conducted polls always show what the general public thinks. They are not rigged or 'filled with agenda'. You can't fake polls without getting caught or looking dubious.
  25. If you stopped laughing at dumb things it just shows your intelligence level is rising 8-) When you see really witty, situational and good humor, you'll laugh at it. (I don't mean being a snob, even hateful and vulgar humor like Maddox's website is great, realistic, and straight to the point) After you're older, some of the stupid stuff some kids (and adults) laugh at maybe just wont cut it. A guy riding down a hill with a shopping cart and breaking his hand wont be as fun..
