Summoning F2P?
Will summoning be available to f2p? Before I start explaining my thoughts I need to explain my motivations. I am a high level f2p (Top 70). I do not wish to reveal who my rs character is as it has real life implications. I play rs simply to level. I have never pked or been ti bounty hunter or arena and never will unless it can positively affect my goal of 99s in all f2p skills bar prayer and runecrafting. The last few updates for f2p have not helped me much at all. The increase in bamk space only means I have some more junk and I am less organised. The loss of pking has been detrimental in that I can no longer fish for profit and can also no longer trade free trout and salmon to increase speed of dropping. The GE has been a godsend and I have made incredible cash which has meant that my total cash requirements should take only a further 4 months to reach. I do not want summoning to be f2p because it will be another skill I am forced to level and I was hoping to retire in approximately 6 months. Jagex is a real life business. They will only add to f2p if it increases profit. If they add it completely then there would be no reason for people to switch. If they do not add it at all then there will be no way for newcomers to try it and realise any fun that may be associated with it. Therefore I am forced to conclude from a business sense that they will make it very hard for f2p and we will only be able to summon low level monsters. This will be a disaster for myself and other players like Fook but, since we do not pay, Jagex will not mind. One other point I would like to make is that Jagex need f2p and do not have it because they are too generous. RS is for much of the time incredibly tedious. It would only be used by idiots like myself if it did not have a members section but no one would pay even $5.00 per month to sit for several days clicking pixels just to get to 60 wc or similar in fact I think they should pay us because its worse than working. It is necessary therefore to have the free section in order for people to reach decent levels before becoming members. Jagex have a difficult time to balance this need to level and a desire to make the game attractive. A little taste of summoning achieves this dual purpose.

The Fall of Jagex
"Lies, damned lies and statistics" The numbers playing RS have dropped by much that appears to be truish and the numbers playing this morning were definitely lower than normal. There were an incredibly large number of bots engaged in multiple different areas. They are mainly gone. Many players have quit and many others will, but were these possibly the owners of the bots. Merchants in the old sense are gone but progress does this in all forms of life (seen any club wielding cavemen recently?) Pkers are gone but surely only temporarily as we need them to consume resources RS dead? Oh please its just changed!!! Stop all this futile argument it really is just a game. Anyone still enjoy playing the original space invaders?? No? Change is necessary

17 December 2007 - Future Changes to Recent Updates
I wish they would change the abort button on the trade screen in GE. I have hit this several times instead of the grey exit cross and lost my position in trading queue.

Good Riddance to Bad Rubbish
Nice article!! Lots of good points on all sides of the argument. Jagex will need to reconsider the entire Pking effect and it will be interesting to see how they "tweak" the updates so that pking will be allowed again. I think it needs more than a little tweak,a complete overhaul seems required. The fishing industry is gone and other skills will become less useful until the pkers are restored. Personally I am not, and never will be, a pker but they have killed me a few times when mining rune. However I just factored these results into the eqution as to whether it was worth it or not. Mining rune is easier now but I would not have got my combat level so high if it was not for needing to avoid death. (118 at present). Merchanters and bots are the bigger foe (Just see how many high levels are now cutting yews again)

JAGEX PLEASE! Stop killing smithing! bring back its prestige
I get the most "fun" from raising my skill levels. GE has helped make this easier. You lose money raising smith now but you did before. The big gain is the fact that I can buy steel bars easily and not at the price of 600 - 650 which was artificially raised by those accursed merchanters. Since the up date I have now enough steel bars to raise my smith from 90 - 93. I make most money from mith and addy bars which I mine and smith myself and then high alch the items. Unfortunately I really cannot see the "fun" in clicking a mouse for hour after hour and this applies to all non member skills. This is the main problem with the game. It is also why I would not pay any money to play.

Grand Exchange: Your thoughts?
Actually I have made the money without selling any of the items I had in bank before update. It appears that part of the problem is that people are seeing the game as they would a real stock exchange and ignore the fact that the vast majority of players are not behaving as a business would. Even my noob character has made a gain of 7k from a start level of 50k. The true merchant class need to open their eyes and not wait for prices to rise. Prices will only start to rise when they reach realistic prices. At the moment they are still too high. If you can make money in a falling market I cannot wait for the profit in a rising market!! I do realise that I am a new contributor to this forum but I am being entirely honest about results. I do apologise that I will not say how I am making money and on which items because this will influence others and effect my own money making abilities.

Grand Exchange: Your thoughts?
Well I have managed to increase my wealth (in cash) by 33% ie 15 mill to 20 mill using the exchange in 6 days of buying/selling even as prices drop. This is without any need for time consuming shouting in banks and, as I am non member, without the use of forums. Prices of goods are dropping because they were unnaturally high eg steel bars 600 each?. I believe the prices of consumerables such as logs, food, ores etc will continue to fall and the prices of rares will rocket. The Grand Exchange is a great tool for all players ( I only use money to level skills like fm, smith, rc etc). However I do notice that the seemingly more intelligent posters have not mentioned how they intend (or already are) using it to create personal wealth. Nor am I!!
