  1. I have recently sold my uncharged Berserker shield and only have enough tokens for one more pair of air crafting gloves. I do not intend playing the game again as I find it tiresome especially when getting logged out for no reason at all. The game is infantile in the extreme with no risk involved. However with the no risk has also come the no reward. Initially there was much excitement from p2p and f2p alike at the possibility of these rewards and uncharged shields were selling at hugely ridiculous prices. We were led to believe that the crafting gloves would make runecrafting much better and that the combat bonuses on the shield were so much higher than an ordinary rune kite. Well how wrong can you get? It takes longer to get the tokens than it takes to use them up so they are a pointless reward. You can only get one of each item at a time and can only purchase from the Wildy site of FOG. So, should JaGex improve the rewards by slowing the degrade time of the shields and increasing the charges on the gloves because as it stands the game will eventually become obselete? Higher levels get no rewards, medium levels end up paired with low levels that take forever to kill them and low levels (who at least get mage training) never win. The game was supposed to be part of a strategy to replace the elements of the Wildy that were lost during the updates and yet has no resemblance to anything connected. (Please be aware that I never Pked but was a rune miner and never minded being attacked). Will JaGex ever make a minigame available to f2p that is not designed for 8 year old newbs with appropriate risk and reward but is designed to properly reward skilling? Please do not turn this into a p2p v f2p or bring back wildy thread. Thankyou
  2. I was assisting in world 16 at air altar last night and thought I noticed a couple of times that the xp gained was greater then the normal 140 or 135. I wondered whether this was because the person requesting assist was wearing the runecrafting gloves and therefore giving me double xp. Can anyone else shed any light on this?
  3. There is one other good reason for doing this. I spent alot of time in GE cooking lobsters. There was a character of about level 80 stating over and over again that he was buying unfired bowls and grain at highest price in GE. He stated this for hours (auto talking ftw?). My belief is that he was actually selling at lowest price and was encouraging people to buy his useless stock and forcing the price up. I do not know whether it worked.
  4. This should not be in any section. The advice is not helpful. As a previous poster has stated coal, iron ore and steel bars have been inflated in price due to new members quest. Last weekend steel bars exceeded 800gp each and two weeks previously were 610gp. This was a great opportunity to sell your stock. Now steel bars are 718 gp and falling daily. This fall will continue for some while in my estimation. As these fall so will coal and iron ore. The price will probably fall back to the original price before quest because the volume of trades is so high the equilibrium is reached quickly. Please do not take the above as advice to sell or buy but do remember this if you do want to invest in these commodities.
  5. Because the "any other number" you are thinking of is also 4
  6. Well that just shows that it is true what they say. As you get older the first thing that goes is your eyesight, the second is your memory and the third thing I cannot remember.....
  7. Well Im 45 I actually have 3 kids and a step daughter who is 24!! Oldjoe beats me though I am second oldest in list
  8. I do not recommend buying coal and iron ore on GE as prices are too high and steel bars are dropping following the recent insanity caused by the members quest "Rocking out". However mining your own might still be good especially iron ore. Air running is good for 90 - 100k per hour but no xp. Cockroaches are good to fight for cash but you might want to team in lootshare or similar.
  9. I have to agree. I always find it amusing when I see people trying (and usually failing) to get a 99 mage level for example. They throw loads of money at it and then....... They try to raise smithing and have thousands of mith and addy plates to high alch but no longer need the xp in mage so waste even more money. I have crafting 73 as my lowest skill and am often asked why I do not raise this. The only way I can do this would be to buy stuff and lose money. However I still get gems and need smithing xp so see no point in power training it until I no longer get "free" xp from cutting my own gems and smithing my own ore. All my stats are in the 90s (f2p) bar prayer and runecrafting and find it a lot more fun training all skills relatively evenly.
  10. I actually saw Bromo in game for the first time last night in air altar!! I also saw Haosene which was also a first. In fact if anyone ever wants to meet the high flyers it appears air altar is the place to go. However do not expect too much conversation as it is very intense in there competing desperately for assisters. Bromo is a 9x assister and Haosene an 8x I think. S Diamant Y (Sara?) is 10x but still goes there anyway for xp and is the only one that appears to be able to assist and chat reasonably freely at the same time.
  11. Simple but boring! Running airs in world 16. You can make 100k per hour if you concentrate. As far as I am aware there is nothing better in f2p. I kill cockroaches and can make more but I am level 122 and even so still make slightly less than this. Smithing is very good but you will need to mine your own coal and iron because it is very hard to get cheaply at the moment while all the members are buying up these resources and you risk a sudden drop in price (This is likely to happen within the next two weeks - maybe).
  12. I would wonder where the rest of my money had gone!! Seriously I have found that to merchant you really need about 70 mill in f2p. This gives you a chance to invest heavily when items are rising in value fast. (Steel bars last week). So yes I would definitely leave well alone and only spend money when you have in excess of this. This is why I bought Santa when I had about 75 mill. These figures do not apply to p2p. I would expect that you need a lot more to merchant efficiently when 6 slots are available and you would also be able to take a slightly higher risk strategy.
  13. I completed 99 cooking last weekend. Previously I raised it by fishing and cooking trout and salmon in Barbarian village. However from level 96 cook I bought lobsters that cost about 8 mill and cooked in GE at a rate of 126k xp per hour. I then sold the cooked lobsters for about 6 mill in GE. I wish i had started this earlier as now I can fish and drop at an xp rate of nearly 40k per hour compared to 22k per hour when cooking as well. The time I would have saved I could easily have made the money back at cockroaches or air running or smithing steel.
  14. I have learnt that even in a simple game many people are greedy, compulsive liars, cheats, rude and ignorant but that you can also find incredibly good people but that those that are not nice in game are generally not nice in real life
  15. The game will not go down the pan. Au contraire. it might if they did put the knowledge in the public domain. You must never over estimate the general population. If they had this knowledge they would not know how to use it ( remember it is a kids game). The people that would use this knowledge, like myself, would use it to be super powerful and create unwanted dynamics within the game. This would alienate the average player and thus destroy the main fan base.
  16. The tips are for f2p as nNJ IS 100% f2p
  17. I would never under estimate the power of the revenants that is why you should leave run on, have protect from mage one click away, run at the first sign of trouble, do not take more than 8 - 10 ore in one run and wear only two expesive items and rune pick so that if you do die you only lose your lobbies and any rune ore that you got.
  18. Actually as I have mentioned previously I never wanted this skill to be f2p because it would upset my plans to quit in 6 months but everyone is entitled to an opinion. It is too easy to call someones rant as a whine. What I object to is those people that threaten to quit or carry out an action but then do not follow through. JAGeX now have 9 member only skills that cannot be levelled at all in f2p. If they continue to offer nothing to f2p then there will be too much grinding in members to be done and this will actually put people off becoming members. My belief is that they need to stop these skill updates but instead concentrate on making the game more fun and interactive. They need to explain how skill levels influence the gathering of resources ie why lower level miners sometimes beat higher levels so that players can develop strategies that require real thought and skill. Pking needs to be re introduced as one on one combat is the greatest tests of combats skills and strategy. Summoning is now just one more way to encourage the development of RSI (MEDICAL TERM). I encourage JAGeX to develop along these lines and to make Runescape into something far more like a real world. Please stop dissing f2p that would like more. It is not original nor useful. Instead consider the result if there were no f2p. Everyone is entitled to ask for more. No one has the right to flame the f2p who wish to express an opinion. One last thing for the flamers of f2p out there. Please, before explaining how wonderful you are to pay your $5.00 per month. let us know which of your parents you blagged your contribution from.
  19. Sorry I did not mean remove them forever I was asking whether a list could be compiled so that we have a clearer view of the current situation
  20. Hi, I have not read through every thread in this topic so please excuse me if I am repeating anything. My questions are these:- 1. Is it possible that you can compile a top 100 list of xp or level gains per day over past 6 months ? ie which players are seriously levelling and which are only in top 100 because they have been playing longer. This might also catch any players that are either playing p2p on f2p skills or are botting (although this is of purely secondary interest) 2. Can you also compile the same 200 top list but remove all inactive players ?
  21. Level 47 is reached at 75000 xp 99 at say 13000000 therefore 173 days to 99 if no other methods used for faster xp. I will estimate that the first 99 will be reached on April 15th 2008
  22. I have no access to the runescape database at the moment but I notice a lot of posts regarding whether or not summoning is an easy skill to level. The highest mention of a level I have found is 47 within 24 hours. Does this not mean that it will take the richer players only a month to get to 99 or is this wrong?
  23. The more I read about summoning the more I am inclined to believe that it is f2p that are the lucky ones. As far as I can see summoning is more expensive than construction, harder to train than runecrafting and more useless than cooking. Do I as a pure f2p really want to have another grindfest? I already have problems earning enough to get runecrafting, smith and prayer levels up. So to all you f2p that are upset that they have no new skill I say "Be happy" And to all you p2p that are now encumbered with another money draining, boring useless skill I say "Be happy" Actually I wonder whethewr JAGeX would have made it so expensive if they had realised throughout development that RWT and bots were going to be gone?
  24. Take a teleport with you. Bring only 3 items with you ie pick, plate and helm. Fill the rest of inventory with swordies except for about 6 salmon. Check you are fully prayed up, check again. Turn of auto retaliate.Walk all the way. I keep as close to the left hand side as possible and have never met any revenants. When you reach place with altar(level 37 - 40 ish) turn 70 degrees and walk to level 46. The two rune rocks are just above the top of the lava maze. Now you should keep a few steps away from the rune rocks while they respawn. I like to stand with the red spiders so that I can attack them. It is not multi combat so revenants will not be able to attack you while you are fighting spiders.Put on run and when rune rock spawns go get it. As you run towards it eat the first salmon. Eat the salmon as you need to and switch worldswhen you have both ores but make sure you note which world you visited and at what time. While waiting I always leave the prayer page showing so as to be able to switch on prayer as quickly as poss. If revenants appear just run back towards the altar placewith mage prayer on. Do not eat unnecessarily as they are not good at chasing you and you can restore your prayer anyway so you should be able to returnwithout having to go all the way back to Varrock. I stay until I have collected about 10 ores as I am not too greed but that is your choice. Other players tend to wear more armour but I prefer to be able to run further. If I die I lose only my power ammy. Thre other small points. Remember to empty your quiver of arrows and also do not wear your untradeable items ( I lost my mime boots and gloves from being pked previously ). Random events are very commonplace so expect your pick head to fall off. Have fun!!!!
  25. 1. Rune ore is easier to get now as revenants are easier to run from. 2. As f2p I have made nearly 30 million from GE trading 3. Never pked - so dont mind about BH etc 4. Extra bank spaces so now have tinderboxes etc to hand 5. Prayer is easier as it is easy to buy bones 6. RC is too hard but prayer is easier so balance is achieved Im loving it
