F2p iron smelting
No what he is saying is that when he types in to smelt however many ores he has in his inventory he gets a 50% success rate. However If he types in say 200 even though he only has 28 his success rate increases. He is asking others to check to see if this is right. Of course there is no need to check. There is no way that this change would give better results.

F2p crafting methods and xp rates
Yes I like that idea! I do watch the prices carefully and have already considered this but I think 66 mill as a rough guess may be a little too much considering I also need to raise smithing from 94 - 99 which will also cost about the same. I may just have to rethink my entire strategy

F2p crafting methods and xp rates
The above method requires walking to and fro from the furnace in Al Kharid which is too slow xp . Does anyone know whether crafting hard leather bodies in GE is good xp and what are the pitfalls? What about any other f2p crafting methods that involve no walking?

F2P - Ice Giants / Ice Warriors Ranging Guide
A very good guide. Just a few extra ideas that might be used. 1. Bring a chisel so you can cut gems and high alch the rubies and emeralds and drop cut sapphires. 2. Collect the wines the giants drop and save them for when a random does appear. 3. If the world is crowded you can attack the ice warriors rather than keep waiting for a giant to appear by using the sidestep. 4. Range with the best arrows you can afford since you will need to collect drops anyway. 5. When and only when there are no other players you can range two or even three giants at same time. (You can get over 26k xp an hour at these times). 6. Some people bring earth runes with them. This means that after a while they can cast curse. This prevents stray arrows and also allows a greater chance of bagging the kill when crowded. 7. Towards the end of your stay you might as well fight the giants in the open for quicker kills.

3 lvls left till f2p uber jey :) december will be 99 rc :P
Nice one! This 9 x assisting is becoming just a little painful though. Last night it took over 90 minutes to get 30k and it appears to get worse week by week.

Another where should Exp ATK(F2P)
When I was at your level I killed white knights. The drops are decent enough, xp pretty good, food is available by killing chickens in courtyard and cooking on range and you are near bank. They are approximately half your own level which is the accepted by most people as the most efficient training method (apart from semi afk on spiders and flesh crawlers).

F2p crafting methods and xp rates
Hi, I have level 72 crafting in f2p. It is my lowest skill by far. I want to go up to level 90 as fast as I can while spending about 30 million ( I could stretch to more but I hope that wont be necessary cos I need big bones too). So what should I do? I do not consider high alching a waste of money so I would not include the price of nats in the money. Thanks in advance

Mining
There are 6 coal ores in the mining guild that I used to rotate around. The speed at which I could mine these did increase as I levelled and I found I had to go to busier and busier worlds so that they would re spawn in time. However I was a level 95 miner in Al Kharid power mining when a level 70 turned up. He boasted that he could mine quicker than me. He could. This was to do with connection speed. I notice from time to time when in combat that some players are actually moving towards a target before it even appears on my screen and I think this is part of the same problem.

Whats wrong with mining?
Mining in f2p was my first 99. Was it hard? It took 1 year and 3 months of playing but no not really. There are numerous ways you can choose to mine with multiple locations all of which mean you train i na different way. The other point is that it helps train crafting (gems and gold and silver), smithing and mage (superheat and high alchemy). The other point is that high level miners also tend to be a little more polite and mature than the average woodcutter etc. JAGeX though do need to bring back a 3 rock mine and drop point as was in Al Kharid.

Do we need more "Ultimate" weapons?
Slightly off topic since this is about p2p version. There is absolutely no reason for a higher level melee weapon than rune in f2p. Rune is easily obtainable by all players above level 40 and so fighting pvp is less expensive and more available to all players. This is one of the reasons so many p2p used the wildy in free worlds. Since there are no high level monsters in f2p a better weapon is useless. If higher level weapons were used in f2p then alot of the time it would be rich p2p winning contests. Sorry cannot really comment on the actual topic since I am 100% f2p but some of those max hits seem insanely high already.

Pure Stupidity....
When I started my account on RS I was not aware that I would never be able to change it. It took me a while to find a name that was accepted so I gave up and now have a name I do not like at all. I really do not mind any other peoples names but I love to see players main accounts called for example poopeater, fartbag but the most memorable was a female character called "nicebewbs". PS UPTHEBANNER (A reference to the county in which I live is not my real rs name). Edit - I also have a little smile whenever you meet a skiller called 99minepure or similar and then have to blush and tell you their mining level is actually 24. (Yes I know they have to start at 1 like everyone but it still makes me smile)

Rare Item Lending
Ireally do not have a problem with the lending of rares. Personally I tend to lend one of my Santas out in World 16 as much as I can on the off chance that the borrower will use me as a 9 x assister. Overall having any rare is not worth worrying about as more often than not it only shows how long the person has been playing rather than how clever the player has been at accumulating wealth. I get the distinct impression that JAGeX hate rares due to the inbalances they give to certain players as well as the RWT opportunities they give. ( They are certaintly in no rush to "fix" prices). So lend them out and give other players the pleasure of using/wearing.

Runescape is dying. Topic is back after a few months -LooK-
You seriously under estimate the number of bots that were in the game 100 - 300 is way off per world. When you take into consideration all the bots in the general stores and specialist stores, at every yew and willow location, at all fishing spots and mining spots (and remember they were at times creating 30 in one hit). Personally I think 300 - 600 is closer to the mark. The fact that they also had bots killing dragons suggests that there were also bots being trained in f2p for this skill too and yet I never saw one of these. I wonder how many other types I never saw.

what to do ith 4mil f2p.
Any God Armour is probably not a good idea at this time because it is possible that the price of this will fall shortly as people sell it to release equity for pking update. Personally I would learn how to merchant and invest the money. It is easy to make 1 mill per day if you have 50 million to spend. (With only 2 slots I find it hard to invest more than 50 million without risking). 4 million is hard to come by in f2p but you will turn this into 50 million faster than you imagine. My skiller investor noob started with 57k and now has 42 mill.

10 x assist ? Go do something else
Why oh why do p2p and ftp that have already achieved 99 rc continue to assist air runners in world 16? Seriously lads give the rest of 9x and 8x a chance. It will take you 35 days to get a million xp. You get no cash or respect. I can understand. nearly, the top rcers trying to maintain their position but even so.... As far as I can ascertain in p2p the maximum xp per hour is from ZMI which gives nearly 30k xp per hour and it takes even a 10x at least 30 minutes to get this in world 16 and you make money. So why bother? Maybe you just like to wind me up. Good job, you are succeeding. Or maybe because it is such an enjoyable thing to do since you are giving back to the community or maybe it is because you are cabbages.

PK Anywhere: A Skiller's Dream Come True
Pure speculation based on not an awful lot. a) In a one player versus one player combat the value of the drop will be determined as a percentage of the total value as per GE prices the loser has on death less the three most valuable. This percentage will vary considerably to prevent any RWT so occasionally very little will be gained by a winner. B) The percentage will be calculated taking combat levels, amount of hit points suffered by winner and length of fight. c) Only unnoted items will be valued thus prevention/limiting of bringing in junk items. d) The loser will lose all items apart from their 3 most valuable. e) The drop itself will be determined from a drop table as per fighting a monster. f) Food, potions, prayer will be allowed and essential. g) Combat will only be allowed between players of approximate levels. If I believe any of the above then the only stuff likely to go up in value will be food, runes, potions and other such perishables. Temporarily the value of high end armour may increase but only as long as the losers can keep affording. Once they can no longer afford they will need to skill again which means an increase in supply which will not help skillers. The value of Sara, guth, trimmed etc armour will drop as people sell to buy cheaper but as effective plain rune. Pures will become viable as they will not be able to be attacked by much higher levels. This will actually mean that the demand for nature runes and other high end runes may not really be affected as pures will only train what is absolutely essential. It must be remembered that pre Dec 2007 many pkers would supplement their income from bots/drop trading and RWT. Since this can no longer take place money will be tight enough that they will need to skill their items themselves.

PK Anywhere: A Skiller's Dream Come True
And if you need an explanation of Nukemarines post:- Harrinator was being a tad sarcastic and was actually trying to say exactly what you flamed him for!!!! Now who appears ignorant?

Talking in Air Altar
Hi all, Just a little heads up. When assisting in the air altar I turn assist on and all other chat off. This means I can often not see if someone is talking to me. In addition because I can only see what is being said but not who it is being said by you may think that your average high level assister is rude and inconsiderate. This is not true it is just nearly impossible to assist and chat at the same time unless unlike me you are an A1 typist. So if you want to borrow an item you may have to show some patience. Please also remember that the reason for wearing a Santa in the alar is so people can find you easily and you are helping to prove that you are not scamming. This is why you see so many halloween masks, skill capes etc. However it is also the reason we will not lend at that time since we are using them for the only real useful purpose we can. (Either wear a Santa or dye your hair mauve (you know who you are M!! :) )

need some rc help
There is the new minigame but overall this does not increase xp rates. There is a decent guide for f2p by Mauranius that contains some good info. You might also want to read up on assisting methods. Off topic - Nice name but mine is better

When does the Grand Exchange update its prices?
Holy Moly Bijay!!! You have just pointed out the bleeding obvious part of a puzzle I had with the GE. I did read on the runescape site that it was to do with volumes traded but I had not realise that all trade was up dated including ones where there was no price change. Thank you for that it should help me tremendously. (I will not say why it is so helpful but trust me when I say it will save me a fortune)

PK Anywhere: A Skiller's Dream Come True
I used the term "Untradeable" because it states that the items will be PVP specific. I assume that these will be valuable but only within the pking population. The items will not generate cash outside these worlds and I also assume that these will be considered the valuable items by JAGeX. However I do use the term "assume" very liberally. One thing you mention regarding junk makes me wonder whether bringing in noted tiaras or hard leather bodies etc will occur in f2p as they are worth more in GE than you can really sell them for.

PK Anywhere: A Skiller's Dream Come True
It is a fact that when money becomes tight prices fall. This is why I believe prices might drop. How many times can a f2p lose full rune before they cannot afford another set? As far as I can ascertain from the little information given so far by JAGeX in a one v one fight both players will lose food, arrows, pots, runes etc and one will lose everything and the only item gained will be an untradeable piece of fancy gear. In order to prevent RWT they cannot gain thousands of gp. I agree that this is idle speculation but I certaintly do not intend putting all my money into cooked trout on the off chance that the original poster is spot on in his guesswork.

PK Anywhere: A Skiller's Dream Come True
Nukemarine makes the most interesting observation. Skillers can only benefit if the pkers can afford the materials being sold. Since even on winning a pker will not get the persons items then all pkers will ultimately be losing money and lots of it. No bots or drop trading means that the only way for pkers to make money will be by skilling themselves. This huge money drain may even see prices dropping further!!!!
-
When does the Grand Exchange update its prices?
It is based on the volume of an item sold. This means that if there are loads of yew logs suddenly bought and sold the price will get updated quickly but if none are sold then the price will not get updated at all. Obviously the number of trades done for each update also depends on the overall popularity of the item itself ie it may require 1 million yews to change but only 2 party hats.
